Leeds United made it four unbeaten to start the Premier League campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over Newcastle United under the lights at Elland Road.
Riding the momentum and scoring three first half goals, Noah Okafor added to the tally in the second period to shoot the Whites up to third in the top-flight standings.
After the game, Daniel Farke said: "On rare occasions even for a manager, it is a joy to watch a football game, and especially his team playing. But this was one of those rare occasions so I also enjoyed my team playing tonight.
"It was an excellent performance, really, from the first to nearly the last second, and also sadly not a clean sheet in the end. But overall, a top-class performance and I am proud of my boys.
"We wanted to press Newcastle and wanted to dominate this game. But on the other hand, you also have to be aware how much pace they have up front.

AUBURN — Both Da'Shawn Womack and CK Murray are expected to see the field when Auburn football when it hosts Florida for its SEC-opener this weekend, head coach Alex Golesh said Monday, Sept. 14.
Neither Womack nor Murray played in Auburn's home-opener against Southern Miss last weekend after Golesh provided health updates on both throughout the week.
"Those guys both practiced this morning, and we anticipate having them both," Golesh said. "It was a push to get them both back last week. I don't know if you saw, I had to get Womack out of my way about 20 times on the sideline (against Southern Miss). I kept telling everybody he was 'Coach Wo' on the sideline, and he (was). He brought a really cool energy. So did CK, which I was proud of both those kids for."
TIME, TV: When does Auburn football play Florida this week?
Transferring from Ole Miss to Auburn this offseason, Womack had 27 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and a forced fumble for the Rebels last year. Murray played in all 12 of Auburn's games last fall, posting 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Prior to that, Murray spent three seasons at Sam Houston.

Elon Musk's mother, Maye Musk, railed against the media for not being "proud" of her son's accomplishments, and leveled a conspiracy theory that all media outlets must lie about him or they'll lose their "funding."
Maye Musk appeared on the Pod Force One podcast on Monday, where host Lydia Moynihan asked, "How is it for you as a mother now to see your son who…was so celebrated, now become so controversial?"
"Well, you know, in my book, I do say 20 years ago, the media all hated Teslas," Musk said. "'It's going to fail, it's going to fail, it's going to fail.' And for five years, they hated Tesla. And then they realized that people are buying the Teslas. So then they started hating Elon and hating him on — and that's when I started going on Twitter and shaming the media, as well as the person doing the —"
"You would find the journalist!" Moynihan exclaimed.
"I would find the journalist and find their tag, and so that I could tag them and say, 'Shame on you!' And that's what I did. It gave me a lot of comfort. It didn't stop them," Musk said.

Florida football routed the Campbell Fighting Camels, 52-3, during Week 2, marking the first time since 2021 that the Gators started the season with a pair of wins. However, despite the lopsided score, there is still work to do for the Orange and Blue.
Following the triumph over their FCS opponent, head coach Jon Sumrall spoke to the press about what he saw out on the field inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday. There were things he was proud of — especially Vernell Bown III's performance — but there were also areas that he wants to see the team improve, particularly focusing on personal foul calls and team discipline.
Take a look below at everything Sumrall told the press following Florida's second win of the 2026 campaign.
Appreciate you all being here to cover the game. Happy for our guys to get a win. The goal this week, just like every week, is to be 1-0 at the end of Saturday. We're 1-0 this week, which I'm pleased with.
Some positives. I thought clearly (Vernell Brown III) in the return game came through when it was really clutch with what he did with the ball in his hands on those two punt returns, the third one that we had the penalty on. He did some really nice things in the return game.

ATLANTA − Tennessee football played its first road game of the season at Georgia Tech but it sure didn't look that way.
UT fans helped sell out Bobby Dodd Stadium as the No. 18 Vols (2-0) beat Georgia Tech 45-24 on Sept. 12. UT coach Josh Heupel noticed the support from the fans before he stepped on the field to play the Yellow Jackets (0-2).
"We leave our hotel and you see nothing but orange and white on our way here," Heupel said. "From older fans who have been here for a lot of generations to some younger ones who don't know how to tie their shoes yet, you walk into the stadium 60 minutes before kickoff and a majority of the crowd is Tennessee orange. It's pretty special."
Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon, making the first road start of his college career, said UT fans gave him and his teammates a distinct advantage when operating the offense.
"It was a lot of orange," Brandon said. "It definitely made things easier. Wasn't too much noise. Definitely got a little rowdy sometimes, but seeing all the orange, it definitely made me proud."

Gennaro Gattuso is proud of his Lazio side after their 2-2 draw with Milan, claiming that "seeing the team not give up pleases me," as he comments that the empty Stadio Olimpico makes it "feel like the COVID period" as Biancocelesti fans continue to protest against owner Claudio Lotito.
The Aquile thought that they were on track for the perfect start to the Serie A season, as they were leading 2-0 at half-time through Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin goals.
Speaking to DAZN, via TuttoMercatoWeb, Gennaro Gattuso was left frustrated but not despondent by the collapse. It would've been four wins out of four, but Diego Moreira came off the bench and scored twice in 120 seconds to get Milan back on track.
"In the second half, they came out with their quality," Gattuso said. "Playing the way we want to play for 90 minutes is hard, we dropped deep at the start of the second half and we struggled. That is also understandable because we conceded two goals I would describe as wonder strikes. We were also good not to get hammered, the feeling was that we could have conceded another two."
Lazio have never in their history started with four consecutive Serie A victories, and that record won't happen this season either, as Milan came back for the 2-2 result. Gattuso, though, took encouragement from how his players reacted to letting a two-goal lead slip.

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I'm really proud of the team's performance and the spirit they showed. We did better after 10 or 15 minutes but we were a little bit impatient in the final third.
"We were too impatient and eager. It was a little bit up and down. In the second half we moved the ball quicker and switched from left to right and we saw the confidence grow.
"Liam Delap's hit didn't surprise me because I see it in training. That's what a striker should do. I feel this goal gave him a lot of confidence because he was a lot more present. It was a top team performance."
Nottingham Forest striker Igor Jesus, who scored the 88th-minute winner: "It's our first win in the Premier League this season and we know how important it is for us. It's very important for us and we need to keep it going. I just want to say thank you to everyone who came to support us today."

Dolly Parton and Tennessee go hand in hand. Dollywood already draws tourists who love her music. But the state has officially decided to honor her by changing the name of Nashville International Airport so every traveler will be familiar with her name.
TMZ reported that the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted unanimously on Sept. 11 to proceed with the name change. Airport officials are hoping to work with the country legend's estate on potential merchandise and licensing revenue.
The "Jolene" songwriter created another tourist hotspot before her death. Dolly Parton's Songwriter Hotel and museum opens in October 2026. The museum covers every decade of her life. Of course, there is a music venue on a different floor. Then there is a separate lounge for more live music called "Joelene's" and a cafe.

"I am so proud of this," Parton told PEOPLE. "We found this location early one morning. I knew I wanted to do something special in Nashville, and until I saw this building, nothing ever hit me as the right thing to do."

Liverpool head into another Premier League test with momentum building, and Virgil van Dijk has made the message clear. Good performances matter, results matter more, but consistency is what separates serious sides from the rest.
After a comeback win over Atletico Madrid in midweek and a 2-0 league victory against Ipswich Town before that, Liverpool now have the chance to make it three wins on the bounce at Anfield against Fulham. The captain is not interested in noise or sentiment. He is focused on standards.
In his programme notes, Van Dijk said: "After an important and, in my opinion, well-deserved win over Atletico Madrid, it is great to be back at Anfield again this afternoon as we return to Premier League action against Fulham.
"I thought the atmosphere on Wednesday night was exceptional, particularly in the second half as we chased the victory.
"I have said many times that we are at our best when everyone is pushing together, and I hope you can see how hard we are all working to give you a team to be proud of."

Marcus Thompson: Eventually, like after this year, they have to make some decisions about what to do with that spot. But I think Steph, at the end of his career, he's going to want to say, 'I spent 20 years or whatever with the same franchise like Kobe Bryant.' And he'll be more proud to say that than he would if he went somewhere else. Because if he goes somewhere else and doesn't win a ***** le and gave that up, that would be tough. Now, if he goes to a place that is almost a lock to win the ***** le, maybe you do that. But then if he goes to a place and it's a lock to win the ***** le, will he actually get credit? Or will people say, 'Ah, he just had to go team up with this person.' I think Steph cares about all that stuff and he's going to do the thing that's best for his legacy.

The women's side of the US Open nearly had an all-American final, with the semifinals featuring Aryna Sabalenka vs. American Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina vs. American Coco Gauff. Unfortunately for the Stars and Stripes, when Thursday night ended, neither Pegula nor Gauff had advanced, with Pegula losing in straight sets and Gauff falling in three.
One of the attendees in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday night was former First Lady Michelle Obama. As dissapointing as Thursday's results may have been for the former White House resident, Obama still sent a message of support at the conclusion of the matches.
"Big hugs to CocoGauff!!! She's a joy to watch. Always proud. Go USA Tennis!!" Obama posted on X.
As positive as Obama's message was, many fans on social media took exception to Obama not also addressing Pegula's performance, and questioned if there were racial motivations behind Obama's decision.
"Why do you only show up & root for black athletes?!? Racist much?" one fan posted on X.

Every possession between Southside and Westgate football swung the momentum of the game as two 337 heavyweights went toe-to-toe for some Thursday Night Lights.
Each score took the form of a body blow, a right hook or a left jab. In the end, Westgate's sophomore linebacker Ernest "Bam" Curl delivered the knockout blow scooping up a Sharks fumble and taking it all the way to the house, capping off Westgate's 42-33 victory over Class 5A Southside on Thursday, Sept. 10 in Youngsville.
"It just so satisfying that our kid Ernest Curl, who went through a lot with some confidence issues and just trying to figure out his role on the team, for him to get that ball in his hands to help win that game, I'm so proud of him," Westgate football coach Ryan Antoine said.
With Curl's scoop and score sucking the life out of the Reef and Southside's sideline, Westgate not only handed the Sharks their second loss of the season but also further proved that the Tigers are one of the hottest teams to watch from the area in 2026.
From the first quarter, fans knew this game was going to come down to the wire. The two teams went back and forth with Southside making a living on the ground game while Westgate's flashy pass game carried it.

The San Francisco 49ers thrashed the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 Friday in the NFL's first-ever regular-season game in Australia, quarterback Brock Purdy throwing for three touchdowns to dismantle this season's heavily hyped favorites.
Much of the pre-game talk had surrounded the two California-based teams' wildly different approaches for navigating the epic flight and 17-hour time zone difference to Melbourne and its iconic 100,000-capacity cricket stadium. The Rams had jetted in just the morning before.
How far that affected the game will be debated. But reigning MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford and star off-season acquisition Myles Garrett undoubtedly looked sluggish up against their San Francisco counterparts, who arrived a week earlier to acclimatize.
Purdy put on a clinical performance, shrugging off a poor early interception to find Demarcus Robinson with a 39-yard touchdown pass, before finding the dangerous Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel in the end zone to seize the game.
"Just so proud of this team. Hey, we embraced going to Australia -- 15-hour flight, we're here the whole week. It was a grind, but we did it," said 49ers tight end George Kittle.
