In Dolly Parton's own words, locals and travelers alike could soon be "departin' from Nashville's D. Parton."
The Metro Nashville Airport Authority Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Friday, Sept. 11 in favor of a rule change to allow the renaming of Nashville International Airport in honor of the legendary Dolly Parton, who died in Nashville on Aug. 25 at 80 years old.
It's the first formal step in what is expected to be a lengthy process, but the support of airport executives, board members and elected officials gives the effort significant momentum.
The vote authorizes airport President and CEO Doug Kreulen to immediately begin work on implementing the change. In his report to the board, Kreulen said he had a "very productive" meeting with the Parton family on Sept. 9 and will continue to work closely with them in the planning and implementation process.
The exact name is not yet decided, but Dolly Parton Nashville International Airport is one option, he said. According to the timelines of similar airport changes, it could be about a year before an official name change ceremony takes place.

The timeline has moved up twice since ****** eX's May IPO prospectus, which targeted "as early as 2028," and Musk's August 4 earnings call comments, which said launches would begin "next year." ****** eX COO Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC ahead of the IPO that the firm has already struck deals with Anthropic and Google to rent out orbital compute capacity.
The timeline is moving earlier, not later, which is unusual for a ****** e infrastructure project. ****** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) pulled its target forward from as early as 2028 in its IPO prospectus to a specific Q4 2027 date within a few months. The acceleration shows ****** eX believes development is progressing faster than previously expected and could bring orbital computing revenue online sooner than investors initially anticipated.
Real customers have already committed before ****** eX launches a single satellite. ****** eX President Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC that the company has struck deals with Anthropic and Google to rent orbital compute capacity. It shows that major AI companies already see potential value in the technology. Those early commitments could reduce demand risk if ****** eX delivers the planned capacity.
Wall Street sees a large long-term opportunity if the technology works as described. JPMorgan ****** yst Doug Anmuth projected ****** eX could pursue roughly 75 gigawatts of orbital compute by the end of 2031 at a significantly cheaper cost than could be done on Earth a scale that would make this a meaningful new revenue stream beyond ****** eX's existing launch and Starlink businesses.

CNBC reported that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ:GT) has extended the timeline for its "Goodyear Forward" turnaround plan after key financial targets went unmet.
CEO Mark Stewart told CNBC the company is trying to reach a 10% operating margin and generate meaningful cash flow, but debt remained above $7 billion at the end of the second quarter. Goodyear posted a $453 million net loss through the first half of the year against operating income of just $131 million, a 1.6% margin. The business has been hit by tariffs, elevated raw material costs, and expanding competition from cheaper Chinese tire imports. Capital expenditures, which ran roughly $2 billion combined in 2024 and 2025, are expected to fall to $725 million this year as the company prioritizes debt paydown and refinancing.

The core business is still generating a positive operating margin even amid a large net loss. Moreover, tangible customer-facing investments, like the new retail concept store Stewart showcased in Detroit.

VadimNemkov will defend his Professional Fighters League heavyweight championship againstSergeyBilostenniy in November.

The promotion recently announced that former Bellatorchamp Nemkov (20-2) will meet the No. 3-ranked Bilostenniy (15-4)in the main event of PFL Dubai on Nov. 14 at Coca-Cola Arena.
Nemkov, a protégé of FedorEmelianenko, moved up to heavyweight in 2024 and captured PFLgold last December.

Bilostenniy is 4-1 in the PFL and has earned notable finishes overKarlWilliams, TyrellFortune and former PFL champion RenanFerreira. Like Nemkov, he trains under the Team Fedor bannerand has previously shared training camps with the champion.

On August 5, Vaxcyte (NASDAQ:PCVX) reported second-quarter results that read less like a snapshot of today and more like a countdown to a verdict. The clinical-stage vaccine maker has no product on the market yet, but its three late-stage trials for its lead pneumococcal candidate are now fully enrolled, with the first major readout due before year-end. Add a net loss that nearly doubled and a boardroom that just brought in two vaccine-industry veterans, and you have a company betting its near-term story on data still to come.
Vaxcyte's three Phase 3 studies of VAX-31, its next-generation pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, have dosed 6,191 adults combined, with roughly 3,500 of them receiving the actual candidate. The largest, OPUS-1, put 4,049 participants through head-to-head comparisons against Prevnar 20 and Capvaxive, the two shots VAX-31 needs to beat to earn a spot in the standard vaccination schedule. Data on safety, tolerability, and immune response from that trial are due in the fourth quarter of 2026, with results from OPUS-2 and OPUS-3 following in the first half of 2027.
A separate Phase 2 study testing VAX-31 in infants, covering both the primary immunization series and a booster dose, is on a similar timeline. In June, Vaxcyte also dosed the first participants in a Phase 1 study of VAX-A1, aimed at preventing disease from Group A Streptococcus, with topline data expected in the second half of 2027. As of June 30, cash and investments stood at $2.5 billion, up from $2.44 billion at the end of 2025, and the board added Dr. Moncef Slaoui, previously chief scientific advisor to Operation Warp Speed and a three-decade GSK veteran, alongside Dr. John Markels, the former president of Merck's global vaccines business.
None of that pipeline progress comes cheap. Vaxcyte's net loss for the quarter ended June 30 was $284.3 million, up from $166.6 million in the same period a year earlier, and the increase shows up on both sides of the ledger. R&D spending rose to $267.9 million from $194.2 million, driven by manufacturing work to prepare for a possible launch and by the cost of running three simultaneous Phase 3 trials at once. G&A expenses climbed too, to $34.9 million from $32 million, largely from adding headcount.
Because Vaxcyte has no approved product generating sales, every one of those dollars comes straight off the balance sheet. The calendar adds pressure of its own: even a clean OPUS-1 readout in the fourth quarter of 2026 still leaves the OPUS-2 and OPUS-3 results, plus a required manufacturing consistency study, sitting in the first half of 2027, pushing any license application and launch well beyond that. The newer VAX-A1 program is earlier still, with its second stage contingent on a safety board signing off on the first.
