The Seattle Seahawks issued a cryptic but encouraging update regarding the health of injured quarterback Sam Darnold Monday.
While the precise nature of his injury remains ambiguous, the update points to Darnold returning to the field sooner than later.
Per the Seahawks, Darnold sustained a "very unique soft-tissue." The injury is actually to a glute muscle rather than his hip and is considered "short-term."
Here's the full statement released by the Seahawks Monday evening:
"Darnold, who was injured on a sack that ended Seattle's first drive, has a very unique soft-tissue injury, but the hip joint is unaffected by the injury. While there is no firm timeline on Darnold's return, it is considered a short-term injury."

Sydney Sweeney has been busy. A lot of it you get to see; HBO ended Euphoria with a third and final stranglehold on the timeline, and word recently hit that Netflix's live-action Gundam, which Sweeney stars in alongside Noah Centineo and an ensemble cast, wrapped filming in Australia. And while we have no doubt that you've seen her the new "Just Sports" campaign she has launched with Novig—the first campaign from the 21+ sports prediction market—what you don't see is the work that Sweeney puts into projects like this, where she isn't just the face on the brand; she's an equity partner, putting together pieces of this campaign while away in Australia filming Gundam.
"Because I've been a part of the creative conversations from the very beginning," Sweeney shared with Complex via phone, "I had built an amazing relationship with everyone involved, and I was really excited to get to set."
"It can be kind of isolating when you're away for that long," Sweeney continued, "so being able to have my entire glam team come down, and my team who I've been with for almost a decade—they're like my family—it was really exciting to be able to see them again."
COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Buy. Collect. Obsess.
Sweeney calls the "Just Sports" campaign "a very simple and playful idea," aimed to "really bring the concept of 'just sports' to life," and the spot really does get to the heart of what Novig is all about. Novig's vision is truly just sports, with "a marketplace designed around transparency and efficiency" that is built by sports traders, for sports traders. Sweeney says that this was a true collaboration.

Saffie Osborne became the first female jockey to win a British Classic horse race while riding Highwayman in the St Leger on Saturday.
Highwayman, trained by Joseph O'Brien, was priced 11-1 and finished ahead of Enceladus and Amelia Earhart.
"I didn't have this on the bingo card for this week," Osborne told ITV Racing. "I didn't have a ride in the race on Monday morning, let alone one with a chance, and I can't thank so many people enough."
The St Leger, in its 250th year, is the world's oldest Classic. Osborne's historic moment follows Rachael Blackmore, who was the first female jockey to win the Grand National in 2021.
Osborne was handed the spare ride on Highwayman as reward for an impressive season. She moved into contention as the runners entered the long Doncaster straight.

NBA rookies can sign contracts worth millions before they receive their first regular paycheck. The number on a rookie deal may grab attention, but the timing of those payments works very differently from what many fans **** ume.
Draymond Green recently explained how NBA players receive their salaries and why rookies can face a long wait before their first check. The system also allows players to negotiate how some of that money reaches them.
Green said NBA players are normally paid twice each month, but rookies enter the league under a different timeline. Their contracts can include an advance before the regular salary schedule begins, which gives new players some access to their earnings during that gap.

"Most people are paid every 1st and the 15th all year, an NBA rookie can take an advance up to 15% of their salary once they're signed," Green said. "What you should understand about rookies is the rookies don't get their 1st paycheck till November 15th, a month and a half into the season."

After drawing 0-0 with Ecuador in their Conmebol U-15 Evolution League opener, the Women's National Team looked for a faster game and sharper passing, ending their second match of the continental tournament with a 4-2 win over Colombia. With the result, the Canarinho remains in contention for first place in the group and the ****** le.
Colombia's first shot on goal came after 25 seconds, but Brazil, focused on regaining possession and controlling the ball, surged down the right through Nicoly, who crossed for Marcela Bontorim to head home and score the Canarinho's first goal in less than two minutes.
Brazil's number 13 found the net again in the 33rd minute after taking advantage of a lapse in the Colombian marking and receiving a pass alone inside the box on the left, from a free kick taken from midfield.
The opponents cut the deficit two minutes later with an individual play by Lelys Victoria, who got past three Brazilian defenders and shot into the goalkeeper's right corner. Before the end of the first half, Brazil put together a quick one-two and attacked through midfielder Melissa, who took a shot, the goalkeeper parried it, and the rebound fell to Nina de Deus, who made sure to score her goal — the Canarinho's third of the match.
In the first 10 minutes of the second half, Colombia won a penalty, taken by forward Alejandra Díaz, who struck it into Nathy's right corner, giving the Brazilian goalkeeper no time to reach the ball. The Canarinho did not let up and, in the 35th minute, scored their fourth goal. Once again, after a loose ball from a set piece and a mistake by the Colombian goalkeeper, Mavi, wearing number 9, made no mistake and scored hers.

Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes is in trouble in return from torn ACL to face Broncos appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming into 2026 with a clean slate after a nightmare campaign in 2025, headlined by an injury to Patrick Mahomes and a disastrous 6-11 finish.
Most players who tear their ACL late in the season won't be ready, or even that close to ready, to return by Week 1 of the next season. Packers star Micah Parsons' torn ACL from a similar timeline is going to bleed well into the 2026 season, and Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is still working his way back from the same injury much earlier in 2025. But Mahomes has taken all of the first-team reps in training camp and appears ready to go for Week 1.
Watching whether Mahomes is at 100% or not upon his return will be what many have their eye on when the Chiefs take on the Denver Broncos to open the 2026 season on Monday Night Football in Kansas City. But even if he is feeling like his old self, he will have his hands full against a Broncos defense that was one of the best in the NFL last season and returns all of its starters in 2026.

For months, rumors about influencer Charli D'Amelio's relationship with her family have been circulating online, and a recent appearance on Quenlin Blackwell's "Feeding Starving Celebrities" video series seems to have added more fuel to that fire.
In the video uploaded on Sept. 5, D'Amelio, the second-most followed TikToker with close to 160 million followers, starts the episode by surprising Blackwell with a pair of sweatpants from her merch store. As they're talking about her many business ventures, Blackwell then asks her how much money she made from her merch. "Mmm, ain't that the question," D'Amelio responds as she looks into the camera and laughs as she adds, "Wouldn't I like to know."
This comes three months after People confirmed that she is no longer involved in the family's popcorn brand, Be Happy Snacks, and the publication reported that the severed ties are allegedly a result of a financial dispute between her and her parents, Marc and Heidi D'Amelio. A representative for the brand told TMZ that her decision to bow out of the family business was "a formal amicable separation from D'Amelio Brands and D'Amelio Family LLC that everyone agreed to at the time."
TMZ also reported that the separation began in March 2025 and was made official in November 2025, meaning she was out of the company for more than six months before the news broke.
USA TODAY reached out to representatives for Charli D'Amelio and her family for this story, but did not hear back.

In Dolly Parton's own words, locals and travelers alike could soon be "departin' from Nashville's D. Parton."
The Metro Nashville Airport Authority Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Friday, Sept. 11 in favor of a rule change to allow the renaming of Nashville International Airport in honor of the legendary Dolly Parton, who died in Nashville on Aug. 25 at 80 years old.
It's the first formal step in what is expected to be a lengthy process, but the support of airport executives, board members and elected officials gives the effort significant momentum.
The vote authorizes airport President and CEO Doug Kreulen to immediately begin work on implementing the change. In his report to the board, Kreulen said he had a "very productive" meeting with the Parton family on Sept. 9 and will continue to work closely with them in the planning and implementation process.
The exact name is not yet decided, but Dolly Parton Nashville International Airport is one option, he said. According to the timelines of similar airport changes, it could be about a year before an official name change ceremony takes place.

Why Patriots' Schedule Could Complicate A.J. Brown's Timeline For Return From Injury originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The A.J. Brown era for the Patriots hasn't gotten a good start, with the wide receiver catching just three passes in a Week 1 loss before going down with a high ankle sprain.
Brown is set to miss a minimum of four games for New England, placed on IR on Friday, per ESPN. With Brown's injury expected to sideline him for around four weeks regardless, the Patriots decided to put him on IR, officially locking in that timeline.
Based on the four-week timeline, the earliest Brown could return is in Week 6 against the Jets, a Sunday afternoon game on Oct. 18. That will primarily depend on how his ankle heals — but New England's schedule could also make his return complicated.
Here's why the Patriots' schedule could throw off Brown's return, making it even longer before the star receiver is back on the field.

Aaron Rodgers has spent years saying relatively little about what ended his engagement to Shailene Woodley. He has now offered a much more explicit version of events, one that does not line up neatly with the public timeline people saw at the time.
During the Sept. 10 installment of Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, Rodgers said he proposed to Woodley in December 2020 and she accepted. He then claimed that only days later, she told him that before they married, she wanted to have **** with another man.
Rodgers also said Woodley had taken off her engagement ring by March 2021 and that later attempts to repair the relationship went nowhere.
Their engagement did not become public until February 2021, while reports that they had split did not emerge until February 2022.
Rodgers raised Woodley while discussing what he believes are inaccurate public narratives surrounding several of his past relationships.

A.J. Brown injury update confirms return timeline for Patriots wide receiver originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
We now know how long New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown will be out with his ankle injury.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Brown's high-ankle sprain has been confirmed after tests and he will miss four weeks.
With a four-week timeline, this will likely lead to his placement on injured reserve, although it's certainly possible the Pats hold off in the hope he can return sooner.
Brown suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Week 1 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night.

The New England Patriots might be without star wide receiver A.J. Brown for longer than hoped.
An MRI on Thursday reportedly confirmed that Brown had suffered a high ankle sprain, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. As a result, Brown is expected to miss at least four weeks with the injury, per Rapoport. High ankle sprains typically require four to six weeks of recovery.
Brown suffered the injury during the third quarter of Wednesday night's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, with the 29-year-old receiver grabbing at his lower left leg after an incompletion. Brown stayed down while athletic staff tended to him before he was helped off the field.
Given the recovery timeline, it's possible that the Patriots will choose to place Brown on injured reserve, which will require him to miss the next four games.
This story will be updated.

Braxton Berrios has reportedly been spotted around New York City several times with Portuguese actress and model Magui Corceiro, creating an unexpected new connection between two sets of exes.
The sightings surfaced over Labor Day weekend, with footage circulating online and two additional anonymous accounts placing Berrios and Corceiro together at New York restaurants.
Netflix released Earle Meets World on Sept. 4, and the season finale ends with Alix Earle calling Berrios to find out whether he still believes there is no chance of them getting back together after their December 2025 breakup.
Earle, meanwhile, was linked over the summer to Corceiro's former boyfriend, Formula 1 champion Lando Norris. Earle and Norris never publicly confirmed a relationship, making the latest Berrios-Corceiro speculation another unresolved piece of an increasingly tangled dating timeline.
An Instagram video circulated by F1 Gossip Official appeared to show Berrios and Corceiro spending time together in New York. Just Jared reported that two more sightings were submitted to celebrity-gossip account DeuxMoi.

Tyrone All-Ireland winner Conor Meyler said his concern over the planned merger of the GAA, Camogie ******* ociation and Ladies Gaelic Football ******* ociation [LGFA] is that the issue "is going to be thrown to the wayside again".
In February 2024, the three bodies announced plans to merge into one organisation by 2027.
However, in recent days, chairperson of the Steering Group Dr Mary McAleese stepped down, while a recent letter sent by the GAA's Integration Committee said it could no longer commit to that timeline.
"I don't doubt her [McAleese's] ability and leadership in any stretch," Meyler told BBC Sport NI's Mark Sidebottom.
"I just don't think she surrounded herself with the right board composition to actually get it done or she didn't have the power in the position to actually get things done within the three ******* ociations that she wanted and that's probably really disappointing because I know she was wholeheartedly going into this trying to make it happen.

SpaceEx (SPCX) stock is on the move Thursday as investors sort through a number of headlines affecting the rocket-and-satellite company.
The most consequential came from The Information, which reported that ******* eX and CEO Elon Musk are overhauling how the company builds its data centers, a shift that could slow the pace of new construction.
According to the report, a new management team from the company's rocket division is prioritizing reliability over speed, installing more backup power and cooling systems, and testing data centers more thoroughly before they go live.
The change is a departure from what Musk and xAI (now part of ******* eX) used to build at its Colossus campus in Tennessee, where the AI unit brought its first data center online in just 122 days, a timeline Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang called "superhuman."
But that speed came with trade-offs like frequent outages, including a construction-related outage at the Memphis facility last week that knocked some Grok models offline and affected compute customers like Anthropic (ANTH.PVT) and Google (GOOG, GOOGL), The Information said.

YTD, it appreciated 5.37%, net of fees, and the S&P 500 Index gained 10.21%. The letter can be downloaded here. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, share prices surged higher as emerging prospects for a ceasefire in the Middle East restored market composure and investor optimism for continued earnings growth in the second half of the year. Volatility in share prices was noted, particularly tied to industrial trends like AI, with comparisons made to the internet boom and personal computer adoption. Despite concerns about extreme valuations and potential corrections, the conclusion is that strong earnings growth is fundamental to rising share prices, emphasizing the importance of investing in robust businesses. Reuters reported that McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK) said it would buy privately held Precision Medicine Group in a deal valued at about $2.25 billion as part of a "years-long effort to strengthen its higher-growth businesses."
McKesson has been reshaping its portfolio by exiting non-core **** ets and streamlining its operations while investing in businesses such as oncology and specialty care. Precision Medicine Group, based in Bethesda, Maryland, provides clinical research, laboratory testing, and commercialization services that help biopharma companies develop and launch new medicines. It will become part of McKesson's Oncology & Multispecialty segment once the deal closes, though McKesson gave no completion timeline. CEO Brian Tyler said the acquisition would "enhance our clinical research and commercialization services, strengthen clinical trial execution, and broaden our clinical service offerings."
The deal fits neatly into a growth strategy McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK) has already been executing, not a scattershot bet. The company has spent recent years exiting non-core **** ets while specifically building out oncology and specialty care. It means this acquisition extends a strategy management has already proven willing to follow through on.
McKesson is adding Precision Medicine to its strongest-performing division rather than using the acquisition to revive a struggling business. Revenue in the Oncology & Multispecialty segment jumped 33% to $14.2 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2026, while JP Morgan **** yst Lisa Gill said the acquisition will likely strengthen McKesson's biopharma offerings.
The purchase reflects disciplined capital recycling, not new debt-fueled expansion. McKesson said in April it would sell a minority stake in its medical-surgical solutions business to Apollo Funds for $1.25 billion while pursuing an IPO for that unit, showing the company is actively shedding slower-growth **** ets to help fund investments like this one.

Bloomberg reported that Elon Musk said ****** e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) first AI satellites, powered exclusively by NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) chips, will launch in the fourth quarter of 2027 and reach "significant scale" in 2028, citing a post on X. Real customers have already committed before ****** eX launches a single satellite. ****** eX President Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC that the company has struck deals with Anthropic and Google to rent orbital compute capacity. It shows that major AI companies already see potential value in the technology. Those early commitments could reduce demand risk if ****** eX delivers the planned capacity.
Wall Street sees a large long-term opportunity if the technology works as described. Manchester United head into a demanding week with one eye on Sabah and the other on Manchester City, and the injury picture is starting to shift. Michael Carrick has had some encouragement, with Mason Mount back fit and Luke Shaw already returning to the starting line-up against Everton. That matters, because United need bodies, options and a bit of continuity.
The derby is the bigger concern. Sabah may arrive first, but ****** ody at Old Trafford will pretend Sunday is not the priority. As things stand, United are hoping at least one player can be back in contention for that game, while others remain on slower timelines.
Marcus Rashford looked sharp against Everton and caused problems throughout his 70 minutes, particularly with his direct running and willingness to attack ****** e. So when he came off, it raised eyebrows. Carrick later explained the change, saying: "Yeah, he was feeling a bit of something."
That does not automatically mean a lay-off, but it does put his immediate availability under scrutiny. With Sabah up next, United may decide not to take risks if there is any doubt at all. The working ****** umption is that Rashford should be available soon, and the home game against Sabah on September 10 is currently viewed as the earliest realistic return point if caution wins out.

CNBC reported that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ:GT) has extended the timeline for its "Goodyear Forward" turnaround plan after key financial targets went unmet.
CEO Mark Stewart told CNBC the company is trying to reach a 10% operating margin and generate meaningful cash flow, but debt remained above $7 billion at the end of the second quarter. Goodyear posted a $453 million net loss through the first half of the year against operating income of just $131 million, a 1.6% margin. The business has been hit by tariffs, elevated raw material costs, and expanding competition from cheaper Chinese tire imports. Capital expenditures, which ran roughly $2 billion combined in 2024 and 2025, are expected to fall to $725 million this year as the company prioritizes debt paydown and refinancing.
Copyright: baranq / 123RF Stock Photo
The core business is still generating a positive operating margin even amid a large net loss. Operating income of $131 million over six months shows The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ:GT)'s core tire operations are not losing money at the operating level, suggesting the much larger net loss stems mainly from the cost of servicing its debt rather than the core business itself failing.
Management is showing real capital discipline and not just promises since cutting planned capital expenditures to $725 million this year from roughly $1 billion annually in 2024 and 2025 combined is a measurable step toward freeing up cash for debt reduction. Moreover, tangible customer-facing investments, like the new retail concept store Stewart showcased in Detroit.

On August 5, Vaxcyte (NASDAQ:PCVX) reported second-quarter results that read less like a snapshot of today and more like a countdown to a verdict. The clinical-stage vaccine maker has no product on the market yet, but its three late-stage trials for its lead pneumococcal candidate are now fully enrolled, with the first major readout due before year-end. Add a net loss that nearly doubled and a boardroom that just brought in two vaccine-industry veterans, and you have a company betting its near-term story on data still to come.
Vaxcyte's three Phase 3 studies of VAX-31, its next-generation pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, have dosed 6,191 adults combined, with roughly 3,500 of them receiving the actual candidate. The largest, OPUS-1, put 4,049 participants through head-to-head comparisons against Prevnar 20 and Capvaxive, the two shots VAX-31 needs to beat to earn a spot in the standard vaccination schedule. Data on safety, tolerability, and immune response from that trial are due in the fourth quarter of 2026, with results from OPUS-2 and OPUS-3 following in the first half of 2027.
A separate Phase 2 study testing VAX-31 in infants, covering both the primary immunization series and a booster dose, is on a similar timeline. In June, Vaxcyte also dosed the first participants in a Phase 1 study of VAX-A1, aimed at preventing disease from Group A Streptococcus, with topline data expected in the second half of 2027. As of June 30, cash and investments stood at $2.5 billion, up from $2.44 billion at the end of 2025, and the board added Dr. Moncef Slaoui, previously chief scientific advisor to Operation Warp Speed and a three-decade GSK veteran, alongside Dr. John Markels, the former president of Merck's global vaccines business.
None of that pipeline progress comes cheap. Vaxcyte's net loss for the quarter ended June 30 was $284.3 million, up from $166.6 million in the same period a year earlier, and the increase shows up on both sides of the ledger. R&D spending rose to $267.9 million from $194.2 million, driven by manufacturing work to prepare for a possible launch and by the cost of running three simultaneous Phase 3 trials at once. G&A expenses climbed too, to $34.9 million from $32 million, largely from adding headcount.
Because Vaxcyte has no approved product generating sales, every one of those dollars comes straight off the balance sheet. The calendar adds pressure of its own: even a clean OPUS-1 readout in the fourth quarter of 2026 still leaves the OPUS-2 and OPUS-3 results, plus a required manufacturing consistency study, sitting in the first half of 2027, pushing any license application and launch well beyond that. The newer VAX-A1 program is earlier still, with its second stage contingent on a safety board signing off on the first.
