The filmmaker stepped in after Brenda Daurham's home repairs sparked a dispute between her insurer and contractor.
Tyler Perry is paying it forward for an 81-year-old former hair stylist in need.
Perry is stepping up for Brenda Daurham, a widow who was displaced from her home thanks to a Valentine's Day pipe burst and a massive fight between her insurance company and the repair company that helped restore her home.
Daurham, who was facing an $18K mechanic's lien due to the repairs not being paid for by Allstate, is having the lien paid for by Perry, who took to Instagram and issued a warning to the insurance giant, wondering why they were not living up to their company slogan in this instance.
"Hey AllState!! Step to the front real quick," Perry began his post. "This woman is 81 years old. You call this being in good hands?"

Just weeks after losing her Miss North Carolina USA crown, Brittany Boltinhouse is heading back to the pageant stage.
The 27-year-old dethroned state ******* leholder was announced as Miss Global Honduras 2026 in the pageant's Aug. 31 Instagram post, and now she will represent Honduras at the Miss Global competition in Thailand this October. The announcement marks her first major public step since being stripped of the Miss North Carolina USA ******* le in early August, ending a reign that lasted little more than a month.
"Road to Thailand!" Boltinhouse wrote on Instagram, while unveiling her new sash. She paired the announcement with a Winston Churchill quote echoing "never give in," signaling resilience after weeks of public scrutiny and legal battles.
Her appointment comes as Boltinhouse continues to challenge the public fallout from her removal through a defamation lawsuit, alleging that the Miss USA Organization and A Blaize Productions, which holds the state license for the Miss North Carolina USA pageant, unfairly characterized her after she lost her ******* le.

SCARDOVARI, Italy (AP) — Italian fishermen for two years incinerated most of the invasive Atlantic blue crabs caught in the Po River Delta south of Venice. Few Italians had an appetite for the alien predator blamed for decimating their prized Manila clams.
While experiments in containment continue, including the release of tens of thousands of octopus predators, the industry's response has been shifting to find new markets for the crustaceans. The strategy is already salvaging the livelihood of some fishermen and, some hope, may even rehabilitate the much-maligned crab's image in Italy.
Like other members of his local cooperative, second-generation fisherman Federico Zago saw his income crash after the crab invasion. The Polesine Fishermen's Cooperative Consortium's revenues fell 75% to 15 million euros ($17 million) in 2024 and 2025; the cooperative's active members also shrank from 1,500 to 850.
"We needed to change strategy, and create an opportunity from this disaster," said Paolo Mancin, the cooperative's president.
Desperate, they pivoted to exporting the unwanted crabs, with the aim of preserving the Manila clams — invasive themselves — and mussels that created decades of prosperity in the shallow lagoons of Veneto and Emilia Romagna.

Nvidia has placed a large financial bet on the lasers that connect AI systems. On March 2, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) invested $2 billion in Coherent Corp. (NYSE:COHR) common stock and entered a nonexclusive multiyear strategic arrangement covering optics development, purchase commitments, and access to manufacturing capacity. Coherent's August filing keeps attention on the capital required to meet that opportunity. The deal suggests bandwidth, not raw compute alone, may determine how quickly next-generation data centers scale.
Photo from Coherent website
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) needs faster and more power-efficient connections as clusters grow to enormous numbers of accelerators. Strategic access to lasers and optical components can reduce supply risk and help Nvidia coordinate networking with its computing roadmap. The bull case is that Nvidia secures a critical input before demand peaks. The bear case is that purchase commitments could become less attractive if technologies shift or capacity expands faster than customers need.
Coherent Corp. (NYSE:COHR) gains capital, demand visibility, and validation from the AI industry's most influential platform company. Its lasers, transceivers, and materials can participate as data movement consumes a larger share of system power and cost. Yet scaling production requires capital expenditures and working capital well before all revenue is recognized. Customer concentration, manufacturing yields, pricing negotiations, and technology transitions can determine whether volume growth becomes attractive free cash flow.
The nonexclusive structure is important here. Nvidia can support capacity without surrendering alternative suppliers, while Coherent can sell beyond Nvidia. That makes the arrangement more resilient than an acquisition, but it also limits exclusivity as a competitive moat. The strongest thesis is not that one partner controls optics. It is that AI architectures need substantially more optical content, allowing both partners to benefit if execution holds.

Andvari ***** ociates, an investment management firm, released its first-quarter 2025 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Andvari's portfolio has performed strongly in the quarter, highlighted by Constellation Software's 19.9% revenue growth and its plans to spend on acquisitions in 2026. The company is also focusing on AI tools to enhance productivity and customer relationships. However, the AI sector is experiencing extreme hype, leading to a growing disconnect between valuations and future cash flows. Predictions suggest the AI investment phase may decline in 1-3 years, despite current high demand for AI infrastructure, which is expected to attract significant competition. Concerns about overbuilding and risky financial behaviors, like Oracle's downgraded credit rating amid a $90-$95 billion AI cloud investment, reflect potential pitfalls. Andvari has minimized exposure to this sector, aiming to protect and grow ***** ets through disciplined investments in stable industries despite recent underperformance during the AI boom. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Andvari ***** ociates highlighted Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:TYL). Tyler Technologies, Inc. The one-month return of Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:TYL) was 23.70%, and its shares lost 32.86% over the past 52 weeks. Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:TYL) has a market capitalization of $15.48 billion.
Andvari ***** ociates stated the following regarding Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:TYL) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:TYL), a software company focused solely on state and local government customers, recently raised its 2030 financial goals because the cloud transition for its customers has moved from aspiration to solid proof. Since its 2023 investor day, Tyler has met or exceeded its 2025 interim targets, shifted more than 95% of new-client total contract value to SaaS ("software as a service"), completed the migration of its roughly 5,000 hosted customers onto AWS, and exited its last private data center on schedule. All this gives management more confidence in both future growth and margins. Tyler's remaining on-premise maintenance base still represents a large conversion pool, and each maintenance-to-SaaS "Lip" is expected to lift recurring revenue by roughly 1.7x before any cross-sell, payments attach, or module expansion. Just as important, Tyler's next phase—"Cloud Living"—should reduce version complexity, lower support burden, speed upgrades, and create a more scalable operating model…" (Click here to read the full text)

Bernstein's longer-term Bitcoin outlook is partly based on its view that the four-decade period of declining interest rates has come to an end.
Governments are consequently facing higher debt-servicing costs at a time when sovereign debt levels have reached unprecedented levels, creating additional pressure on public finances.

Good morning. Stocks slipped in early trading as investors saw an increased probability of a September rate hike and the US and Iran exchanged fire over the weekend, dampening sentiment near the end of an ebullient earnings season.
It's the final trading day of August, and the major indexes are on pace for solid monthly gains.
Here's a check of the markets in the first few minutes of trading, based on a heat map powered by Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
Tech (XLK) stocks traded flat against a broadly down market on Monday, with software and semiconductor stocks edging higher. The Energy sector (XLE) was the real standout, however, as rising oil prices stemming from the rekindled Middle East conflict lifted shares of Chevron (CVX), Exxon (XOM), and other energy firms.

Disjointed software is eroding billable hours, as accountancy practices lose time managing platform friction instead of focusing on client deliverables, according to Haiilo's State of the Employee Experience 2026 report.
The research shows that 38% of professional services employees spend at least 11% of their working week – representing upwards of four hours for standard full-time staff – handling complications caused by fragmented systems.
Around 23% dedicate more than a fifth of their working hours to troubleshooting difficulties created by disconnected applications and processes.
Application switching represents a primary driver of these workflow disruptions.
More than half (51%) of respondents frequently toggle across several separate tools to complete an individual task, whilst 49% rely on between four and seven workplace platforms during a standard week.

HealthEquity (NASDAQ:HQY) posted second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 27, which pushed revenue growth to 8% year over year, up from the 7% pace set over the first half of the year, a rare acceleration for a company already sitting on 10.7 million health savings accounts/HSAs. Adjusted EBITDA jumped 11% to $167 million, translating into a record 48% margin. Management raised full-year revenue and profit guidance on the back of that performance, and the numbers suggest a business getting more efficient even as it gets bigger.
The account growth alone would make for a solid quarter. New HSAs from sales rose 24% year over year to 202,000, the strongest second quarter the company has posted and its best stretch outside the fourth quarter open enrollment window. Total HSA ***** ets reached $37.9 billion, up 14%, while HSA invested ***** ets climbed 28% to $20.6 billion as 939,000 accounts now hold investments, a 20% increase. That distinction matters because members who invest carry balances four times larger than those who do not, so every account that starts investing compounds the relationship's value without HealthEquity signing up a single new client.
Engagement is following the same curve. Monthly active users on the mobile app hit 1.4 million in July, up 62% year over year, and total downloads passed 5 million. Marketplace, still a small piece of the business with about 14,000 active members, is already showing that purchasers are more likely to start contributing to their HSA than members who never buy anything through it. AI-driven automation resolved 85% of routine chat inquiries and contained 55% of card-related phone contacts, helping cut human-handled service calls by 25% even as total accounts grew 4%. Gross margin expanded to 74% of revenue from 71% a year earlier, and the company returned $108.1 million to shareholders through buybacks during the quarter.
Not everything is friction-free. CFO James Lucania acknowledged the competitive pressure on pricing, telling ***** ysts there is "absolutely headline price erosion," a year-over-year reduction that weighs on service revenue even as that segment still grew 6% to $124.4 million. GAAP net income of $65.6 million, or $0.78 per diluted share, ran well below the $103.8 million and $1.24 per share reported on a non-GAAP basis, a gap that included $3.3 million in one-time disposal costs tied to internally developed software the company no longer uses.

America is debating data centers as though technological leadership and affordable electricity are competing goals. That framing misses the opportunity. Hyperscale campuses should enter the grid as integrated energy projects that add generation, storage, flexibility, and resilience, not merely as large loads. An April 2026 Pew Research Center **** ysis found more than 3,000 operating U.S. data centers and more than 1,500 in development, with 67% of planned facilities in rural communities. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory projects data centers could consume 11.8% of U.S. electricity by 2030. Goldman Sachs projects demand could rise from 31 GW in 2025 to 66 GW in 2027.
COMMENTARY
Those figures demand a legal and regulatory model that rewards projects capable of solving the problems they create. Hyperscale facilities seeking expedited approval should bring enough new supply and flexibility to serve contracted demand, pay the infrastructure costs they cause, and provide enforceable grid support during emergencies.A 2025 executive order accelerated permitting for qualifying artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and supporting power infrastructure. The White House's 2026 Ratepayer Protection Pledge called on hyperscalers to bring new generation, pay grid costs, and protect existing customers. In October 2025, the Energy Secretary used Section 403 of the Department of Energy Organization Act to ask the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to consider reforms for loads generally exceeding 20 MW in Docket No. RM26-4-000. FERC declined to impose one national process, instead opening separate Federal Power Act Section 206 proceedings in June 2026 for all six regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and independent system operators (ISOs), Docket Nos. EL26-67-000 through EL26-72-000.The orders question whether existing tariffs are just and reasonable, and identify five reform areas: study procedures, cost-shifting protections, co-location and behind-the-meter generation, flexible transmission service, and generation serving nearby loads.
[evtx_block slug="ep-dpx-26-textblock"]
Texas has responded by requiring large-load customers to shoulder infrastructure costs and by developing curtailment and co-location rules under Senate Bill 6. New York has paused certain hyperscale permits while it develops ratepayer, grid, water, and community protections. Both approaches point toward the same durable result: a power-positive approval pathway that converts legitimate public concerns into measurable design and operating obligations.Other states are building tariffs around that principle. Wisconsin extended its very-large-customer tariff to a 15-year minimum, lowered eligibility to 100 MW, and strengthened cost-shift protections. Long commitments, minimum-demand payments, security requirements, and exit charges are now central project economics. That makes the interconnection agreement co-equal with the engineering, procurement, and construction cont

All 95 drivers had acquired state-issued commercial driver's licenses; 76 from California, six from New York and the rest from a handful of other states, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The apprehensions continue to demonstrate the high volume of narcotics and human trafficking smuggling operations that are alive and well at the border — even as immigration numbers have plummeted in recent months.

José Mourinho will have a depleted squad when his Real Madrid team face Inter Milan next week. Arda Güler, Bernardo Silva and Eduardo Camavinga will all be suspended for that game because of cards they were shown during their last games in the European competition last season, which means that Mourinho will have to think outside the box and deploy a different kind of midfield line in the team's Champions League opener.
If Aurelien Tchouameni is able to make his return from injury in time for that game, Mourinho could use him alongside Valverde in the double pivot. However, the French midfielder hasn't rejoined the squad in training yet and he hasn't completed a single session with Real Madrid's new coaching staff, so his presence in the XI could be premature.
As things stand right now, Mourinho could move Jude Bellingham to the double pivot and play both Brahim and Diomandé with Vinicius and Mbappé in the attacking line. Trent Alexander-Arnold could also be an alternative to that move, albeit a more unorthodox one.

On August 28, Affirm Holdings (NASDAQ:AFRM) gave investors two very different signals in the same breath. The buy now, pay later company posted a fiscal fourth quarter that blew past Wall Street's numbers, yet CEO Max Levchin used the moment to flag something less comfortable: gas prices are squeezing the very shoppers driving that growth. The stock barely moved on the news, leaving the market to sort out which story matters more.
The headline numbers were hard to argue with. Revenue rose 33% to $1.17 billion for the three months ended June 30, ahead of the $1.11 billion ****** ysts expected, while gross merchandise volume climbed 36% to $14.1 billion against a $13.39 billion estimate. Adjusted operating income reached $353 million, a 30% margin, and the GAAP operating margin expanded six percentage points to 12.6%. For the full fiscal year, GMV hit $50.2 billion, up from $36.7 billion, on $4.26 billion in revenue.
The user base kept expanding too. Active consumers grew 21% to 27.8 million, and transactions per active consumer rose 20% to 7.0, while the Affirm Card's active user count more than doubled to 5.2 million. Newly appointed president Michael Linford, who moved into the role Thursday, Aug. 27, after nearly two years as chief operating officer, called it the eleventh straight quarter of GMV growth above 30%. Credit quality held up alongside that growth, with the 30-day delinquency rate improving to 2.5% from the 2.7% to 2.8% range of the prior three quarters, something Compass Point's Giuliano Bologna called evidence of "resilient credit performance." Affirm also deepened its Shopify tie-up, extending Shop Pay Installments into Australia after last year's UK expansion, part of what Linford described as Shopify "pulling us into a new market" as both a partner and shareholder. Susquehanna's James Friedman raised his price target to $110 from $105, calling the guidance for fiscal 2027 "exceptionally strong."
Levchin's own commentary complicated the celebration. "The US consumer undoubtedly sees the higher gas prices, so can't, can't ignore that," he told CNBC, noting shoppers are increasingly turning to Affirm to manage costs across "all the various inflationary points." The national average gas price sat at $4.09 a gallon as of August 28, down from above $4.50 in May but still well above pre-Iran war levels, and it hasn't dipped below $3 since March 2. Levchin was direct about the risk: "I do think that sustained pressure on prices isn't great in the long term, and so can't ignore that either."

After playing for the Atlanta Hawks for only four months, the team decided not to pick up Jonathan ***** inga's $24.3 million team option, making him an unrestricted free agent.
And still, ***** inga's agent, Aaron Turner, seems to believe that his client was the Hawks' best player during the short stint he had with them since the trade in February. Turner recently sat down with Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports and discussed his client, Jonathan ***** inga's time with the Hawks, and why it came to an end.
"Also, JK got shipped to Atlanta. And there's a lot of talk about Jonathan ***** inga and his impact on winning and the players. He was their best player from the moment he showed up in terms of winning impact," Turner said.
"He had the best on-off net rating in the regular season and in the playoffs in their two wins against the Knicks. Who had the best net rating? These are facts. These aren't opinions. Who had the best net rating? Jonathan ***** inga. You know, him and CJ really, really, both in game two and game three, really, really stepped up and willed the team to those two wins."
"Now, could JK have stayed in Atlanta this year? And where would that lead him in an expiring deal? Yeah, I mean, there, if he wanted to be the eighth player there or come off the bench, that could have possibly been something that, yes, he could have done that.
