Florida-headquartered ONE Nuclear Energy said the company has executed a binding letter of intent (LOI) that would provide site control for development of Project Cayman, a 2.88-GW gas-fired power plant and 700-MW/2.88 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) sited alongside a data center complex. The LOI was signed with what One Nuclear in an August 31 news release called a "prominent Louisiana landowner group." The company said the strategy aligns with Louisiana utility Entergy's continuing buildout of regional electricity transmission infrastructure."Project Cayman, with its 2.88-GW power capacity, demonstrates that One Nuclear is committed to supporting the future economic development of one of Louisiana's most important industrial regions," said Richard Taylor, CEO of One Nuclear. "The project will deliver the reliable energy needed to support new investment, create jobs, expand the local tax base and generate additional funding for community priorities and critical infrastructure."
Project Cayman is located near the RiverPlex MegaPark, a 17,000-acre heavy industrial site on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. The location is northeast of ****** eX's recently announced $100-billion project to build its largest launch facility yet, called Starbase, Louisiana, in coastal Vermilion Parish. Project Cayman, along with serving data centers, is expected to support regional economic development for other industrial projects. One Nuclear said it will hold a series of public information meetings with local parishes, governmental agencies, and other project stakeholders from now through the end of the year.

"ONE Nuclear is proud to invest in the region to support the rapidly growing energy needs created by other recently announced developments such as the ****** eX Starbase project and Hyundai's $5.8-billion steel mill," said Taylor. The company did not disclose details about the data center development, including the companies involved.
One Nuclear supports advanced small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) technology along with utility-scale gas-fired power plants. It currently has projects in Washington state, Texas, and New Mexico. The company has said its strategy is to build natural gas-fired generation to serve industrial sites that could later transition to the use of nuclear power through SMRs.Louisiana officials, unlike those in some other states, have signaled their support for data centers. Several major projects are underway or planned. Tech giant Meta is developing a 5-GW campus in Richland Parish. Amazon Web Services earlier this year said the company plans to invest $12 billion to build data center campuses in northwest Louisiana.Meta last year signed power purchase agreements with Treaty Oak Clean Energy for solar power in Louisiana. Entergy Louisiana in 2024 said it would build gigawatts of new natural gas-fired power generation to support Meta's operations in the sta

Despite strong sales and growing momentum, Hyundai (005380.KS) CEO Carlos Munoz is going on the offensive in the US.
Hyundai revealed at its 2026 CEO Investor Day today that it will build more of its cars on US soil and pack American showrooms with new hybrids and its first extended-range EV, the centerpiece of its most aggressive product push in its history. New trucks and even a mid-size Toyota Tacoma competitor are coming too.
Munoz is betting on localized US production and that a wave of in-demand hybrids can lift profits and rev sales even as the overall US car market sits in neutral.
"Our fundamentals have never been stronger. Hyundai Motor Group is the third-largest automotive group and the second-most profitable, which gives us the ability to invest while others are pulling back," Muñoz said in a presentation. The company is bringing "more than 100 new models to market by 2030 with multiple powertrain options" while "raising our operating margin above 9 percent."
Of particular importance is the upcoming Santa Fe midsize SUV EREV [Extended Range Electric Vehicle], due in the first half of 2027 and built at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. It pairs a battery with an onboard charger for more than 600 miles of range.

Hyundai Department Store is preparing to launch COOD, which it describes as South Korea's first speciality select shop built around derma beauty as its core concept.
According to a translated version of the Yonhap News Agency report, the inaugural outlet will open on the basement level of the company's Pangyo store on 18 September.
Spanning approximately 165.28m², the store will stock more than 60 derma beauty brands.
Derma beauty, a term combining "dermatology" and "beauty", describes products created through research and development involving input from medical and bio-science specialists, aimed at enhancing skin function.
Hyundai Department Store noted that although derma beauty items have already been sold within established beauty retailers, COOD represents the sector's first standalone store format centred specifically on this category.

Hyundai Motor and its labour union have arrived at a tentative wage agreement, bringing an end to a period of industrial action that had hit production at the South Korean automaker.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the breakthrough came during the 17th round of negotiations between the two parties.
Under the terms agreed, monthly base pay will rise by Won100,000 ($72.20), alongside a performance bonus worth more than 400% of monthly salary and a separate lump-sum payment of Won12.5m.
"The two sides agreed to transparently share information on new projects and their implementation processes, and jointly respond to future changes in the industry", the company was quoted as saying.
Yonhap also reported that the retirement age will be pushed back from 60 to 65, though this element of the deal depends on corresponding changes to relevant laws and regulations.

Genesis began as a Hyundai luxury model before becoming a stand-alone brand in 2015.
It now sells sedans, SUVs, and EVs, and notched 5 straight years of record global sales.
Genesis North America's COO said the brand has a "startup mindset" that helps it pivot quickly.
Genesis is, by now, a nearly 20-year-old name.
When Ted Mengiste joined the Hyundai brand five years ago as an executive director of sales operations, he described the internal workings of Genesis as "ground floor."

Hyundai Motor is considering expanding production capacity at its Georgia ******* embly plant from 500,000 vehicles annually to between 700,000 and 800,000 units by 2028, CEO José Muñoz told CNBC on Thursday. The South Korean automaker said following publication of the interview that the plans are under consideration but not yet confirmed.
At the upper end of that range, the Georgia Metaplant would leapfrog rivals — among them Tesla and Toyota Motor — to claim the top spot among U.S. vehicle ******* embly plants measured by capacity.
Muñoz said President Donald Trump's tariffs, including a 15% levy on imports from South Korea, have accelerated the company's localization plans. "Tariffs are helping accelerate our localization plan. That's very, very simple," he said. "The good thing is that we had already started before tariffs were announced. So in a way it's helping us to accelerate."
Any such expansion would be funded through Hyundai's already-announced $26 billion U.S. investment commitment running to 2028. Hyundai has targeted a domestic production share of at least 80% of the vehicles it moves in the U.S. market by 2030, compared with roughly 40% in 2024. "For that purpose, we need to add more capacity," Muñoz said.
The $7.6 billion Metaplant, which Hyundai first announced in 2022, is currently turning out the all-electric Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9 models alongside the Kia Sportage hybrid. The facility is designed to build hybrid and all-electric vehicles for the Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia brands. Under the existing 500,000-unit framework, the Georgia campus would employ upward of 8,500 people directly, with a further 6,900 positions supported at supplier facilities nearby.

Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) has experienced strong AI-driven demand through 2026, helping offset its historical exposure to cyclical market downturns. Earlier, on July 16, Micron completed Strategic Customer Agreements with a group of automotive Tier 1 suppliers, a smaller but telling sign that its customer relationships are stretching longer and becoming more predictable across more than one industry.
The automotive agreements, completed with Qualcomm, Visteon, HARMAN, JOYNEXT, DENSO, Astemo and Hyundai Mobis, give Micron greater visibility into future memory and storage orders as vehicles add more advanced driver ******* istance and in-cabin computing power. Automotive platforms carry long production lifecycles and strict qualification standards, so locking in supply and pricing years ahead reduces the kind of order volatility that has hurt Micron during past downturns.
The bigger driver remains AI. Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) has lifted its 2026 outlay target to $220 billion, and Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) plans a $200 billion budget of its own, money that keeps flowing toward the memory chips inside AI servers. That demand already shows up in the numbers. In the nine months ended May 28, the first three quarters of fiscal 2026, Micron's revenue reached $79 billion, a 203% jump from the same stretch a year earlier, while net income hit $47 billion, a 60% net margin, versus just $5 billion the year before. ******* ysts expect revenue to grow 247% this fiscal year and another 85% in fiscal 2027, and Micron has pushed customers toward five-year price agreements instead of the one-year contracts that once left it exposed to sudden price swings.
Micron's stock climbed nearly 690% over the twelve months before peaking in June, then fell about 30% since, a pullback that reflects investors growing less willing to pay up for growth rather than any clear deterioration in the business. Some of that hesitation is historical memory. Memory chip supply has caught up with, and usually exceeded, demand in every prior upcycle, and when it has, prices and profits have reversed just as sharply as they rose. Competition adds to the risk. Beyond longtime rivals Samsung and SK Hynix, the Chinese firm ChangXin Memory Technologies could start turning out high-bandwidth memory before this year is out, a development that may chip away at the pricing power Micron currently enjoys. Early investors locking in gains after such a steep run have added to the selling as well.

Elfyn Evans holds third place at Rally Finland despite rolling his Toyota on Saturday, as Sebastien Ogier was taken to hospital after crashing out of the lead.
Nine-time champion Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia had a big accident on stage 17 - Saturday's penultimate stage - after they ran wide on a fast, right-hand corner and their Toyota crashed into trees.
The stage was stopped and an update from Toyota said both Ogier and Ingrassia got out of the car "unassisted", and were taken to hospital for checks but were "conscious and generally OK".
Sami Pajari, who won his first rally at the previous round in Estonia, inherited first place from Ogier and leads his home event with two stages remaining on Sunday.
The Finnish driver holds an advantage of 46.4 seconds over Toyota team-mate Oliver Solberg, while Evans moved into third place ahead of Hyundai's Adrien Fourmaux after setting the fastest time on Saturday's final stage.

Kia Corporation announced a 2.3% rise in net profits to KRW 2,327.8 trillion (US$ 1.59 billion) for the second quarter of 2026, up from KRW 2,268.2 trillion a year earlier, with US import tariffs and higher sales incentives offset by record global vehicle deliveries. Operating profits fell by 4.9% to KRW 2,628.5 trillion.
The South Korean automaker reported a 12.6% increase in global sales revenues to a record KRW 33,037.0 trillion in the three-month period, while global wholesale deliveries rose by 4.5% to 851,639 vehicles – including 154,816 units in South Korea and 696,823 units overseas. The company was not affected by the component shortages that held back Hyundai Motor's second-quarter results.
Sales of electrified vehicles jumped 60% to 296,000 units, accounting for 35% of Kia's global sales, driven by strong hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) sales in the US and higher battery electric vehicle (BEV) demand in South Korea and Europe. Total HEV retail sales rose by 61% to 178,000 units, helped by the launch of the new Telluride and Seltos models, with sales in the US surging by 152% to 66,000 units, while total BEV retail sales surged by 88% to 110,000 units.
Kia said it expects solid business results in the second half of 2026 to enable it to meet its full-year guidance, "supported by competitive new model offerings and sustained BEV and HEV demand." The company is targeting 3.35 million global vehicle sales in 2026, supported by the launch of new BEV models in Europe and a recovery in Middle Eastern demand.
In the US, Kia said that its plans to expand production capacity of the Telluride SUV, including hybrid variants, and the ramp up of deliveries of the Sportage hybrid produced at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) will help enhance profitability.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung flew to San Francisco on July 24 for a summit with the most powerful names in artificial intelligence. Jensen Huang was there. Sam Altman was there. The heads of Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai Motor and Naver flew in. By the end of the day, roughly $950 billion in new AI agreements had been signed, and South Korea had positioned itself as the country most central to the next phase of the buildout.
Nvidia (NVDA) is not slowing down its global hunt for AI infrastructure partners. The chipmaker has spent much of 2026 signing deals across Asia, the Middle East and Europe to secure the chips, memory and power it needs to keep building AI systems.
On July 24, that hunt landed squarely on South Korea, with a cluster of new agreements announced within hours of each other.
Nvidia said on July 24 that it has locked down AI memory supply from SK Hynix, South Korea's second most valuable company, CNBC reported. The agreement, unveiled late that evening in San Francisco, could be worth $500 billion over a number of years, and it includes large-scale data centers expected to come online in 2027.
SK Hynix affiliate SK Telecom will build a cloud business using Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems as part of the deal.

Memory and storage giant Micron Technology (MU) has been one of the standout beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence (AI) boom, delivering massive triple-digit gains so far in 2026. Now, the red-hot chip stock is back in focus after the company announced a series of strategic customer agreements aimed at expanding its presence in the rapidly evolving automotive technology market. On Thursday, Micron revealed strategic customer agreements (SCAs) with several major automotive and technology players, including Qualcomm (QCOM), Visteon (VC), Harman, JOYNEXT, Denso, Astemo, and Hyundai Mobis.
The partnerships come as increasingly connected and intelligent vehicles require more advanced memory and storage solutions to power everything from sophisticated infotainment systems to AI-enabled features. Micron Chairman, President, and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra emphasized that memory and storage will play an increasingly important role as vehicles become smarter and more technologically advanced. He noted that the new agreements should help ensure next-generation automotive platforms have the capabilities needed to support richer, safer, and more intelligent in-vehicle experiences. With Micron already riding strong AI-driven demand and now deepening its ties across the automotive ecosystem, could this latest development add another catalyst to MU stock?

The value of South Korean vehicle exports rose by 5.8% year-on-year to US$ 6.79 billion in June 2026, driven by strong overseas sales of battery-powered and hybrid-electric vehicles by the country's main automakers, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
This was a record high for the month of June, with the value of shipments to Europe rising by 13.7%, while exports to North America rose by 12.3%, and shipments to Latin America rising by 5.1%. Overall exports of eco-friendly vehicles surged by over 31% to US$ 2.9 billion, according to the Ministry.
The strong June data followed weak production and exports in previous months, due mainly to temporary auto parts shortages affecting key automakers, particularly Hyundai Motor. Overall vehicle production in the country rebounded by 12% year-on-year to 394,210 units last month, according to industry data, with domestic sales by the 'Big Five' automakers rising by 5% to 117,390 units.
In the first half of 2026, total vehicle output declined slightly to 2,110,783 units, while the value of exports was down by just over 1% to US$ 35.95 billion.
"South Korea auto exports rise 6% in June" was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand.

Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) is seeking to bring Boston Dynamics fully under its ownership, moving to acquire SoftBank Group's remaining holding in the US robotics firm.
The group confirmed it intends to purchase SoftBank's entire stake in Boston Dynamics under terms set out in the parties' existing agreements.
The move follows SoftBank's decision to exercise its put option, after which the relevant shareholders began examining contractual rights and obligations through their respective internal governance and approval processes.
HMG said it had been evaluating options to increase its stake in Boston Dynamics as part of a broader, long-term robotics strategy, aimed at deepening collaboration with the company and reinforcing its own robotics capabilities.
Several media report estimates have put the value of the transaction at around $325m for SoftBank's 9.9% holding.

Here's a rally truth that never makes the highlight reel: the classification that flashes up at the finish is provisional, and sometimes the stewards do more damage than the rocks. That's exactly how the eighth round of the 2026 World Rally Championship ended in Greece, where two one-minute penalties handed down after the cars were parked reshuffled positions four through seven — and quietly nudged the ******* le fight.
The official final classification tells the story the recaps mostly buried: M-Sport Ford's Josh McErlean dropped from fourth to sixth, and Hyundai's Adrien Fourmaux fell from sixth to seventh. Not for anything they did with the throttle. For seatbelts.
Both crews were pinged for identical breaches — a co-driver whose belt wasn't properly fastened while the car was already moving. What makes it worth your time is how each crew ended up in that position, because it exposes a corner of the rulebook casual fans never think about.

The prospects for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) companies don't just depend on future orders or regulatory approvals; they also depend on securing their supply chains and ramping up production to meet expectations. That's why investors have reason to be positive about Vertical Aerospace (NYSE: EVTL) after it recently signed a long-term agreement with Astronics for power distribution systems for its Valo eVTOL. Is it enough to make the stock a buy?
Not all eVTOL companies are made equal. While Joby Aviation is pursuing a vertically integrated model and developing its own technology, Boeing's Wisk is also relying on investment and technology from its parent company, and companies like Archer Aviation and Vertical Aerospace are heavily reliant on components from established companies.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
In theory, at least, this should accelerate development and make it easier to ramp up production. That's why every time the U.K.'s Vertical Aerospace signs a long-term supply agreement, it helps de-risk the company's business model. It already has deals in place with Honeywell (flight control and management systems), Hyundai WIA (landing gear), and other specialist aerospace suppliers, with the recent deal adding low-voltage power distribution systems -- a critical part of an eVTOL.
While execution risk has diminished somewhat with the deal, this is still a company burning cash and won't generate earnings until 2032, according to the Wall Street ******* yst consensus from S&P Global Market Intelligence. In other words, the $239 million-market cap company will need cash, which means significant dilution for existing investors is on the way.

K League 1 returns this weekend after the World Cup break, with Round 16 marking the start of the second half of the season. A top-four showdown between Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Gangwon FC headlines the weekend's action, while Gwangju FC look to kickstart their campaign following a busy transfer window. Elsewhere, teenage midfielder Son Jeong-beom continues to emerge as one of the league's brightest young talents as leaders FC Seoul resume their ***** le charge.
Unbeaten Runs on the Line as Jeonbuk Host Gangwon
After a month-long break, K League 1 returns this weekend, and Round 16 features a heavyweight clash between third-placed Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (26 points) and fourth-placed Gangwon FC (24 points). With just two points separating the sides, the result could see the teams swap places in the table.
Jeonbuk head into the match unbeaten in their last six league games (W4 D2) and had looked increasingly solid. They conceded twice in a 2-2 draw with Pohang Steelers in Round 10 but thereafter allowed just one goal across their last five matches, building their recent success on a strong defensive foundation.
Up front, Tiago Oroba had been in fine form, scoring three goals in his last five appearances and netted a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Gimcheon Sangmu in Round 15 to secure all three points for Jeonbuk. But the Brazilian has been ruled out through injury, prompting the Green Warriors to sign Gytis Paulauskas on loan from Jeju SK.
