On August 5, Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. (NYSE:CCO) reported second-quarter results that showed the billboard and airport advertising company accelerating just as it prepares to leave the public markets. On February 9, Clear Channel agreed to be acquired by an investor consortium advised by Mubadala Capital for $2.43 per share, a deal stockholders approved on May 12, and one expected to close by the end of the third quarter of 2026. Because of the pending Merger, Clear Channel skipped its usual earnings call and offered no forward guidance.
Consolidated revenue climbed 8.7% to $438.0 million in the quarter and 10.2% to $811.9 million over the first half, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup pulling in extra advertising spend across both of Clear Channel's segments. The America division, which houses the roadside billboard and street furniture business, grew revenue 7% to $324.3 million as demand from technology advertisers in the San Francisco/Bay Area market broadened out and digital billboard revenue rose 7.2% to $122 million. Airports revenue jumped 14% to $113.6 million, helped by strong demand at San Francisco
International Airport and digital sales that climbed 15.6% to $73.4 million, with national advertisers now accounting for 57.8% of that segment's revenue. Profitability grew even faster than the top line. Adjusted EBITDA rose 11.6% to $143.4 million for the quarter and 19% to $247.3 million for the first half, while Airports Segment Adjusted EBITDA jumped 22.8% to $29.9 million. Adjusted Funds From Operations climbed 61.6% to $44.9 million in the quarter, and for the first half it went from just $5 million a year ago to $51.5 million. On August 4, Clear Channel also closed the sale of its Spain business for about $132.3 million, proceeds it plans to put toward paying down debt.
The growth did not reach the bottom line. Clear Channel posted a loss from continuing operations of $10 million in the quarter, reversing a $6.3 million profit a year earlier, and the consolidated net loss came to $5 million versus net income of $10.6 million in the same period of 2025. Over six months, the loss from continuing operations widened 21.4% to $59.4 million. Costs rose alongside revenue. Direct operating and SG&A expenses increased 5.9% for the quarter, and Airports site lease expense alone jumped 12.0% to $67.1 million on higher minimum guaranteed payments and the renewed contract with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

On September 10, Lovesac (NASDAQ:LOVE) reported record second quarter revenue of $161.2 million, its highest Q2 total ever, even as its entry-level furniture shopper kept pulling back. The 0.4% sales increase came almost entirely from showrooms rather than higher-margin online orders, and the quarter's real profit boost was traced to a one-time source. A $20 million tariff refund lifted gross margin by 1,200 basis points to 68.4%, masking an underlying business that actually lost money once that windfall is stripped out.
Configurations priced above $6,000 grew by double digits during the quarter, even against a strong comparison from a year earlier, and management pointed to that segment as the clearest sign the brand's value proposition still resonates. Showroom net sales climbed 4.6% to $114.1 million, helped by 14 net new locations opened over the past year and a double-digit jump in conversion rates that offset softer foot traffic.
The Snugg platform, a smaller and more digitally oriented sofa line, helped push "other products" revenue up 198.2%, with more than half of Snugg sales happening online, giving Lovesac a lower-priced entry point into the brand. The Loved by Lovesac resale program is doing similar work, with 70% of its customers new to the company.
Behind all of this sits a pipeline of four major launches set for the second half: a personalized comfort feature for Sactionals, an entirely new large-format premium seating platform, Snugg accessories including a corner piece and swivel base, and the start of onshore Sactionals seat manufacturing, alongside a national rollout of White Glove and Room of Choice delivery. The balance sheet backs it up, with $68.8 million in cash, no debt, $34 million in unused borrowing capacity, and $7.2 million in buybacks with $46.9 million left under the current authorization.
Omni-channel comparable sales fell 1.9%, driven by demand pressure below $6,000, where management said inflation, higher interest rates, and a spike in gas prices have hit the same buyers for several quarters running. Internet sales dropped 5.3%, Sacs sales fell 8.6%, and the exit of the Best Buy shop-in-shop partnership cut "other" net sales by 23.2%. Strip out the tariff refund and adjusted EBITDA was actually a loss of $1.3 million, compared with income of $0.8 million a year earlier, a sign the core business is less profitable than the headline numbers suggest.

Why we like it: While its highest rewards categories may not be the most useful for your project, the Chase Freedom Unlimited does carry a lot of value in its minimum 1.5% on all purchases.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited also has an intro 0% APR period. So while you're earning those extra rewards over the first year, you won't pay any added interest charges. Just make sure to pay down your balance before the 15-month intro period is up to avoid the standard variable APR.

Why we like it: The Blue Cash Everyday from Amex is already among our top cash-back credit cards for everyday spending, but it can also add major value to your home improvement plans. If you're planning to order any of your tools, supplies, furniture, appliances, or other necessities for your project online, you'll get 3% back on up to $6,000 per year. If you max out that category over the year, you could total $180 cash back toward home improvement spending — and that's before accounting for added rewards at the supermarket or gas station.

Investment management company First Pacific Advisors recently released its "FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Fund returned 27.02% in the first half of 2026, outperforming the Russell 2000 Value Index's 22.99% gain and the S&P 600 Index's 23.90% return. Small-cap earnings growth also began accelerating relative to large caps, while the small-cap technology sector surged nearly 100% in 26H1. The fund's technology holdings gained 72.39%, contributing 14.87 percentage points, compared with a 95.27% return and 7.10-point contribution from the benchmark's technology sector. Excluding IT and cash, the Fund contributed 12.73% versus 15.89% for the Russell 2000 Value Index; on a fully invested basis, the figures were 16.62% and 17.59%, respectively. The portfolio continued to trim appreciated technology holdings amid the AI-driven rally, while maintaining a bottom-up approach and avoiding beaten-down SaaS stocks due to the widening range of AI-related outcomes. The fund also eliminated about $62 million in capital gains during Q2 and approximately $140 million year-to-date through July, while ending the quarter with 10.2% in cash. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund highlighted stocks like Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD). Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) provides consumer leasing and retail solutions through brands including Rent-A-Center, serving customers seeking flexible payment options. The one-month return of Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) was -10.86% while its shares traded between $15.82 and $28.03 over the last 52 weeks. On August 28, 2026, Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) stock closed at approximately $19.22 per share, with a market capitalization of about $1.07 billion.
FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Upbound Group (NASDAQ:UPBD) lends to sub-prime consumers in two primary segments: Rent-a-Center, which focuses on furniture and appliances through physical stores; and Acima, which offers last-look financing through ***** ociated retailers including electronics and tire shops ("Buy Now Pay Later"). Sub-prime consumers are struggling but Upbound's operating results remain stable. The company has been slow to de-lever after purchasing Acima in 2021 and made another incremental acquisition on Jan. 31, 2025 when it bought Brigit, an app that charges subscription fees to access payday lending. UPBD's stock is cheap at less than five times earnings. But we have been slow to add given the company's leverage and concerns regarding the Buy Now Pay Later segment".

Kai Trump said goodbye to her friends, her family and her Florida hometown this month, documenting her move to the University of Miami in a YouTube vlog that followed her from a last round of golf in Jupiter to her first night alone in a new apartment.
"What's up guys? This is my first day of college," Trump said in the video. "I feel like really sad that I have to say goodbye to like everyone."
Trump, who is joining the Miami women's golf team, filmed herself packing, **** embling furniture, unboxing team gear and, at several points, fighting back tears.
She spent her final day in Jupiter on the golf course before turning to farewells.
"I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time on the golf course because I want to say goodbye to my friends," she said. "It's kind of crazy like I've been like reflecting especially last night because I've been getting no sleep for like a week now. This is the next chapter and I'm moving on. And I'm excited. I'm excited for the next chapter. I'm excited to play golf at University of Miami. And I'm just excited for the experience."

It is quite the thing you know, no matter how we look at it cats do have quite the significant amount of control over our lives. Sure they might not actively be able to influence our decisions but in their sneaky subversive ways they are more than capable of controlling what we do in many areas of our lives.
Say for example your cat does not like a particular piece of furniture in your home, there is little you can do to stop your crazy cat child from ripping it to shreds, forcing you to buy a new one. Another example could be if you bring home a significant other to meet your cat. If your cat does not approve then we all know what will happen to the SO who has been hissed at. So you have to wonder in what ways did the cats of these celebrities influence their decisions and shape them to be the influential figures that they have become.
Now this one we were both delighted to see and also a little disappointed at the same time. Mainly because Mads Mikkelsen has spent much of his career playing the bad guy, the villain and most notably perhaps one of James Bond's most fierce enemies. Which would make him the purrfect typecast to be a supervillain who owns a cat who is just as evil as he is. But that is not fair at all to cat kind who have had to fend off their evil and sinister reputation since the days of the witches. Not that it is not totally true that they have a little evil streak, but it hurts the feline image if that is all that people think of them…
Elvis might have sung about a hound dog, but it is a cool cat that helped him come up with all those brilliant ideas it seems. Especially if this is how they spent their writing sessions. It has been suggested many times throughout history that cats have some sort of brainwashing ability. And if this image is anything to go by, the peculiar position that this cat is perched in sure does make you wonder if it is feeding the king of rock n roll some lyrical ideas. Heck, it might explain why the hound dog song was so derogatory towards dogs you know…

True entertainers can charm the pants off even the toughest of critics. Although anyone with good Wi-Fi and a clean iPhone lens can go viral, it takes hard work, genuine talent, a whole lot of perseverance, and, of course, innate magnetism to cut through the algorithm and catch the attention of industry gatekeepers and fickle fans alike. And all 31 honorees selected for our 2026 Breakthrough List have done just that.
Actor-writer-director Eva Victor, for instance, went from posting (respectfully) goofy pandemic-era TikTok sketches to darling of last year's Sundance Film Festival with her debut feature Sorry, Baby; now, she calls Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde co-stars. For FLO, "Leak It" has established the British trio as one of music's most sizzling R&B acts, while campy duo Haute & Freddy's synthy whimsy and thoughtful lyricism earned them the stamp of approval from a certified pop icon: Lady Gaga. After cutting his teeth with one supporting role after the next, The Shards standout Igby Rigney proves he has what it takes to be one of TV's leading men. Meanwhile, Mexican actor Diego Calva has one Golden Globe nomination to his name, and we predict another coming his way for his tender performance in Jordan Firstman's already-buzzy Club Kid.
Whether they're topping charts with tomorrow's Grammy-winning earworms, delighting audiences in mega-viral social media series, or breathing new life into beloved franchises like Legally Blonde and Baywatch, these artists will remain at the top of our feeds, queues, and playlists for years. Below, meet this year's breakthroughs.

Calling Jon Hamm, Olivia Wilde, and Amanda Peete co-stars is no small matter, but that's reality for Aimee Carrero, a scene-stealer in Apple TV+'s Emmy-nominated Your Friends and Neighbors. A featured player in dozens of IMDb credits thus far, the Dominican-American actress from Miami has a starring role in the comedy One Attempt Remaining (with Jennifer Garner, Kate McKinnon, John Cena, no less) coming down the pike. As for who Carrero thinks will have a banner year? Inde Navarrette: "I love seeing a young Latina woman out there doing her thing."
What was your first job?
Working in a furniture store—West Elm. A celebrity who will remain unnamed came in and ordered a ton of sh*t. It was gonna be a huge commission for me. I went to ring her up, and the card declined. She says, "I'll be back tomorrow." Never came back.
Who should play you in your biopic?
Olivia Rodrigo. You want someone younger and more beautiful than you to do it.
What's the most underrated movie, TV show, song, or album of all time?
Well, it wasn't underrated at the time, but I do think this new generation needs to get into The X Files. Gillian Anderson was my first celebrity crush. There's a new one coming out—Ryan Coogler's—it's gonna be amazing, I'm sure.

Our ******* ysts just identified a stock with the potential to be the next Nvidia. Tell us how you invest and we'll show you why it's our #1 pick. Tap here.
July's inflation report ran a touch hotter than Wall Street wanted, but Wall Street really only has itself to blame.
Gas got cheaper, down 2.7%. Furniture and appliances got cheaper, off 0.9%. Goods overall fell 0.1% in a month when tariffs of up to 50% were already running on autos, steel, and aluminum, which is a genuinely impressive act of price restraint. The American consumer did his part.
The line that ran hot was financial services and insurance, up 1.2% and the biggest single mover in the entire report. Cutting through the economist word soup, your advisor bills you a percentage of whatever you have parked with them, so when stocks went up in July, the pile got bigger, meaning your fees got bigger in dollar terms. On a purely statistical basis, the Bureau of Economic ******* ysis saw the S&P having a nice month and filed it under cost of living. It seems bizarre on its face, but it's also logically defensible as all that money really did leave real people's accounts. The BEA is rewriting the methodology on September 30 anyway, and it is worth noticing who benefits from a version of the index where Wall Street's take no longer counts.
Everything else behaved. Core inflation, the number the Fed actually steers by, came in exactly where the Street expected. Income rose 0.4% against spending of 0.2%, so households earned more and sat on the difference, which squares with Tuesday's confidence report showing people feel okay about this month and grim about next year.

SMITHFIELD, RI (WPRI) — This week's Cardi's Furniture & Mattresses Hometown Sports Hero is Evan Benson.
The 14-year-old Chepachet native found the sport of Disc Golf in 2023 and just completed his first Professional Disc Golf ***** ociation season, where he racked up nine rated rounds over 1,000 and 13 wins. That success helping to make him the #1 ranked Amateur in the world.
"At the beginning of last year I decided to play in a vouple of tournaments and started playing in a lot more tournaments than I expected," Benson said. "And yes, I mean my goal for the end of 2026 was to get to 1010 and the fact that I'm already here in July is crazy."
The secret to his amazing debut season, not really a surprise.
"Yes, I mean a lot of practice, I practice like everyday basically," Benson said. "Lot of putting practice, a lot of practice in the front yard, playing a lot of courses."

Furniture retailers have spent years waiting for the housing market to revive demand for sofas, beds, and other big-ticket home purchases.
That rebound remains elusive, but some of the industry's biggest players are finding growth anyway.
Wayfair reported second-quarter net revenue of $3.5 billion, up 7.5% from a year earlier, while U.S. revenue jumped 8.7%.
Orders increased 6%, active customers rose 3.3%, and the online furniture retailer generated $301 million in free cash flow.
Executives were also quick to point out that this was the company's strongest U.S. revenue growth of the post-COVID period.

Coming home to find some of your belongings have been stolen can quickly turn an ordinary day into a stressful, emotional, and financially draining experience. Fortunately, renters insurance typically covers theft, helping to replace items stolen from your home, up to your policy limits.
However, not every theft-related incident is covered the same way. Here's a closer look at what renters insurance usually covers and where coverage may fall short.
Most standard renters insurance policies cover your personal belongings if they are stolen or damaged, whether the loss occurs inside or outside your home. Covered items can include everything from electronics and furniture to clothing and sentimental keepsakes.
For example, if you return home from a trip and discover that someone has broken into your apartment and stolen your laptop, TV, and jewelry, your renters insurance may help pay to replace those items, up to your policy's coverage limits.

When you move into your first college dorm or apartment, you may bring along a laptop, bike, phone, clothes, textbooks, and maybe even furniture with you. But whether you need renters insurance for college depends on where you live, whether you're already covered under a parent's policy, and how much it would cost to replace your stuff.
If you're living in an on-campus dorm or fraternity or sorority house, you may already have some coverage under a parent's homeowners or renters insurance policy.
If you're renting an apartment or house off campus, you're more likely to need your own renters insurance policy. In fact, some landlords require it before you can move in.
Even when it's optional, renters insurance can be worth it. Burglaries account for about 28% of reported on-campus crimes, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. If your laptop, phone, bike, clothes, and textbooks get stolen or damaged, replacing everything out of pocket would be pricey.

MILAN — Tan France, the star of Netflix's "Queer Eye" and "Next in Fashion," deepened his interest in interiors while building his dream home, a Salt Lake City Tudor estate, with his husband, Rob.
The media personality made his debut into furniture after his agent received a call from Singapore-based furniture Castlery, he told WWD. "They agreed to let me design whatever I wanted to, as opposed to selecting new colors and fabrics [for] what they already make, which was a major plus point for me," he said.

IndyCar has unwrapped its highly anticipated next-generation race car, the Dallara IR-28, with the new car scheduled to make its racing debut at the start of the 2028 season.
The brand-new chassis and aero pack replaces the long-serving Dallara DW12 chassis that has been running around the series since 2012-it's basically vintage at this point.
The redesign focused on reducing weight, increasing driver safety, and fundamentally changing the aerodynamics to maximize wheel-to-wheel overtaking opportunities. IndyCar people openly say that the IR-28 is engineered to eclipse current lap times and actively smash long-standing track records-including Arie Luyendyk's legendary 236.9 mph qualifying average set at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1996.
Rather than chasing pure downforce at the expense of the chasing pack, the IR-28's aerodynamic furniture has been purpose-built from day one to optimize the vehicle's wake.
Key design and bodywork highlights include:

Growth in last-mile delivery for big and bulky e-commerce items has slowed by half because stagnant home sales mean people are ordering fewer large-ticket discretionary items like furniture and appliances, cutting into profit margins, according to a report from Armstrong & ******* ociates and the National Home Delivery ******* ociation.
Armstrong & ******* ociates estimated the $10.6 billion market for residential delivery of oversized and heavyweight items will grow at a 5.1% compound annual rate through 2027, down from 10.6% over the past eight years, reaching an estimated value of $12.3 billion. Winning service providers will be those that can best execute core, commoditized services such as white-glove delivery, time-definite, returns and in-home ******* embly.
The expansion continues to be driven by major retailers and e-commerce platforms, including Amazon, Wayfair, Home Depot and Lowe's, which have made large-format products central to their online offerings. Many third-party logistics providers (3PLs) support them, primarily utilizing independent contractors and freight brokerage operations, but the work is more complex and cost-intensive than for final-mile couriers in parcel networks who simply drop off packages at doorsteps, or in mailboxes.
As more consumers purchase ******* bersome products online, carriers face growing pressure to provide not just transportation to the curb, but a premium, in-home delivery experience that may include setup, installation, and even haul-away services, while keeping costs under control, the report said.
Demand for exercise equipment, mattresses, furniture and other large items is closely tied to switches in living locations. When people and businesses move, they tend to upgrade items, or add new ones to fill larger ******* es.

Furniture retailer La-Z-Boy (LZB) rose 14.8% intraday on June 17, after it reported a better-than-expected quarterly result. The company has bucked the trend of store closures by aggressively adding stores in the last quarter. In fact, in its last fiscal year, the company carried out the most aggressive expansion in its nearly 100-year history.
Post earnings, sentiment is running high around the stock, despite quarterly sales remaining flat. Data shows that only 4.13% of its float is shorted, with a 1.93-day short interest ratio. These do not necessarily signal warning signs. However, LZB also has a 61.54% off-exchange short volume ratio, including its "dark pool" volume.

Eileen Gu, who earned a gold medal in freestyle skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympics, has reportedly upset her wealthy San Francisco neighbors.
Eileen, 22, and her family are accused of discarding a large pile of furniture and household items on the sidewalk of her California home. According to a Wednesday, June 10 report from the New York Post, the trash pile included a couch, mattress, broken furniture, books, clothing and other household items.
Neighbors filed a complaint to the city on Monday, June 8, alleging that the garbage "obscured a fire hydrant from view," the outlet reported.
When a neighbor reached out to Eileen's mother, Yan Gu, she claimed she had placed the items neatly on the curb around 1 a.m., packed into 20 boxes and covered in case of rain, according to SF Standard. However, the complaint to the city was sent in around 8 p.m. on Monday evening.
Yan added that either "vicious people" or scavengers must have strewn the items haphazardly. She also claimed that someone pulled out a shirt with Eileen's name on it, calling it a "malicious act."

Olympic skier Eileen Gu's lavish family home in San Francisco is reportedly at the center of a bitter neighborhood dispute that stretches back more than 10 years and has seen multiple complaints filed against the gold medalist's family over everything from sewage problems to unsightly garbage piles.
Gu, 22, who competes for China, spent much of her childhood living in a luxury mansion in the upscale neighborhood of Sea Cliff, where her mother purchased a four-bedroom property for $1.84 million in 2010, when the skier was 7 years old.
Despite boasting a net worth of more than $23 million, Gu—who claimed one gold and two silver medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics—is not thought to have ever purchased her own property, instead continuing to reside with her mother at the Sea Cliff mansion, when she is not traveling the world for work.
But that same home is now at the center of a rather ugly neighborhood battle, according to a new report by The San Francisco Standard, which alleges that the latest twist in the Sea Cliff spat involves an unsightly pile of garbage that was left piled up outside the property on June 8.
According to the outlet, "an enormous pile of trash and furniture" was dumped on the sidewalk outside the property, which was originally built in 1925 and is now worth $5 million, with images published by The Standard capturing a haphazard collection of old shelves, a couch, a mattress, what appears to be a disused suitcase, and cardboard boxes filled with abandoned clothing, books, and other detritus in front of the Gu residence.

Manchester United’s summer has started with a sense of movement, and for once, a touch of clarity. As reported by The Athletic, United have reached an initial €40.5m agreement with Atalanta for Ederson, with a further €4.5m in potential add-ons.
That is not a small bet. It is a statement about where this squad has been weakest, and where Michael Carrick clearly believes the next version of United must begin. Midfield has too often looked like a room with missing furniture, functional on some days, exposed on others, and never quite complete.
Ederson, 26, is expected to complete the move in July, potentially after Brazil’s World Cup involvement. His late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad only adds intrigue to the deal. United are buying a player with athleticism, aggression and positional flexibility, yet also one whose best version must now become his weekly version.
The Athletic’s wider reporting makes clear that Ederson will not be the final answer. United still need more in midfield with Casemiro leaving, Ugarte having not worked out and turnover in recent years.
Kobbie Mainoo is the only recognised central midfielder whose place feels secure. That is both exciting and slightly alarming. He is a superb talent, mature beyond his years, but he cannot be asked to carry the structure of an entire midfield rebuild.

The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX) was among the stocks Jim Cramer highlighted on Mad Money as he noted that the market has an appetite for stocks. Cramer mentioned the stock during the episode and commented:
When the economy is doing badly, these are the companies that normally do well as consumers trade down. Even they’re getting hurt, you know, people are really feeling the squeeze. It’s just not happening anymore. Now, you might be saying, “Wait a second. How about TJX? That’s been a winner. That’s a discounter, right?” Well, you need to know TJX is not a play on price as much as it is about selection. When there are a lot of full-priced outlets trying to offload inventory, TJX is the winner. That chain can offer great value for much less than expected. You’re getting quality goods on the cheap, very different from the dollar stores. That’s why its stock hangs in while these others just don’t seem to have the traction anymore.

Leggett & Platt Inc (NYSE:LEG) is one of the best land and timber-adjacent stocks to buy now. While the company is not a timberland owner or lumber producer, it has exposure to wood-related end markets through its furniture, bedding, and residential furnishings components,
Leggett & Platt Inc (NYSE:LEG) reported its Q1 2026 results on May 7. The results showed revenue decreased 10% YoY to $918 million, and adjusted EPS dropped to $0.15 from $0.24 a year ago. The quarter was hurt by weak demand across the company’s businesses, adverse weather conditions that resulted in closures, and higher operating costs.
For now, the company is mitigating these pressures through various actions, including passing through price increases. But in the long term, the management sees the planned merger with Somnigroup as the future.
Leggett & Platt agreed to be acquired by Somnigroup in an all-stock transaction valued at $2.5 billion. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, and Leggett & Platt shareholders would own roughly 9% of the combined company.
According to Leggett & Platt’s management, the merger would give the company’s shareholders an opportunity to participate in the future growth of a leading global company. Once the merger has been completed, Leggett & Platt will operate as a separate business unit of Somnigroup.
