The biggest question CBS Sports had to answer at its media days on Tuesday was asked and answered in under three minutes.
After acknowledging the Tony Romo-sized elephant in the room, the network was forced to explain the down-ballot impact on the rest of its broadcast booths, with J.J. Watt being promoted to the lead booth alongside Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson after the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was placed on indefinite leave following an OWI arrest.
If there's a silver lining, it's that Ian Eagle doesn't really have a type. He's called games with Dan Fouts, Charles Davis and now Watt at CBS, on top of a rotating cast of NBA and college basketball partners over the years, and he just tends to make whoever's next to him sound better. Watt basically said as much heading into this past season, giving Eagle the credit for chemistry that helped the two of them crack the top five of Awful Announcing's 2025 NFL announcer rankings. That flexibility is CBS's biggest ****** et here. This isn't a booth that lives or dies on one specific pairing.
CBS has elected to pair Eagle with Ross Tucker and Evan Washburn, as the two have done many Thursday Night Football broadcasts together on Westwood One before "The Bird" departed that role following the 2024 season. Initially, Tucker was seen as having "a pretty good chance" to fill the open spot alongside Andrew Catalon in the fourth booth, but Romo's arrest seems to have changed that calculus.
Tucker has been a fixture in CBS's NFL rotation since the 2023 season, regularly working alongside Tom McCarthy as part of the network's sixth broadcast crew. He also calls college football for CBS and handles radio duties for Westwood One's Thursday Night Football coverage, rotating with Devin McCourty alongside Kevin Kugler. The Princeton alum and former offensive lineman also hosts the Ross Tucker Football Podcast for DraftKings and calls Philadelphia Eagles preseason games on local television.

NAIROBI, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Funding to tackle acute malnutrition in parts of Somalia has dropped by more than 80% this year, Médecins Sans Frontières said on Tuesday, even though one in every four children screened in displacement camps in the southwest is severely malnourished.
MSF Health Adviser Mitchell Sangma said the United States had cut its support to aid agencies in the country from $70 million last year to no funding this year, leaving aid groups struggling to respond as needs rise. Other Western donors have also cut funding.
"This year we have admitted 22,000 nutrition cases, more than 80% higher than last year. When we need this massive scale-up in intervention measures, we are seeing less interest from donor support," Sangma said.
A July survey by MSF of 888 households in 14 displacement sites in Baidoa, southwest Somalia, found that one in four children was severely malnourished. One third of families said they were surviving on one meal a day, while only 2% could afford three meals.
Somalia is facing a worsening hunger crisis after repeated failed rainy seasons devastated crops, killed livestock and depleted water supplies. Conflict and insecurity have compounded the crisis, disrupting livelihoods and limiting access to food, healthcare and aid.

It's not every day you get to have a memorable breakfast with your boss. Most people expect a quick morning conversation to happen around the office coffee machine. Last month, though, 97.3 The Fan's Ben Higgins and Steve Woods, along with producer Paul Reindl, gathered for something much different. The long-running San Diego morning show, Ben & Woods, was celebrating Woods' birthday.
The mood was light. It was a typical Friday morning wrapping up MLB All-Star Week and preparing for the second half of the Padres season. Breakfast burritos were on the menu, but so was another surprise. Each member of the show received a new three-year contract extension.
"Anytime you can get extended in media these days is a giant win," says Woods, who called the moment the best birthday gift ever. "We have an audience that's so dedicated to the show and knows where we are. Not just us but taking care of our producer was also a big thing for us. As soon as they did that, that forced the issue for us to do this."
Since 2019, Ben & Woods has become a staple for San Diego sports fans. The show originally launched a year earlier on the former Mighty 1090 before moving to Audacy's 97.3 The Fan after the station shut down. The program was built specifically for San Diego, blending sports, culture, humor and personality. Higgins and Woods have never been afraid to let listeners into their lives, and that same transparency extends to contract negotiations.
"Honestly, I would like to handle things behind the scenes. But compromise is part of a good radio marriage," jokes Higgins. "Woods loves bringing it all out there for our listeners. Which is our strongest quality. In terms of our deal, we were in alignment on a lot. It was just a few things that if they agreed on, we'd be ready to sign. We were just so happy to get it done."

I think the combination of our leadership, youth & talent is a great recipe and I'm excited to see how it is lived out this fall both on and off the field."
Junior Madisen Fritel was named the Beavers' preseason offensive player to watch. She appeared in all 21 matches last season, totaling seven points off three goals and an **** ist.
"Maddie lives out the values of our program as well as anyone on our roster," Stone said. "When she plays you can see how much she loves the game and her teammates. She makes an investment in every training session which pushes her teammates and has allowed her to grow and develop. She's an incredible athlete who puts a lot of pressure on defensives and allows us to play off of her."

A magical ride for the Berlin Little League All-Stars ended on a rainy night in the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bristol, Conn.
Naamans Little League, the Delaware state champions, scored 11 times in the fifth inning to eliminate the Maryland state champions 12-4 on Aug. 10.
The trip to Connecticut could have had a much different ending as Berlin led by three runs in the fifth inning of both of its games.
"This is a great group of kids that we have," Berlin Little League manager Anthony Torreullas said. "It is a painful one, especially at this age. Just reassuring them how great it was to get here, how proud we are, how much we love them and they are going to remember times like this for the rest of their lives. The collective effort for the last couple of months, we appreciate it."
Delaware took the lead in the top of the fourth inning on Paddy Grugan's RBI single. That came one batter after Berlin center fielder Declan Soares made a catch after falling down.

Three months before Lane Kiffin enraged the Ole Miss football fanbase by leaving for LSU, ESPN aired a documentary about him that showcased what seemed to be a genuine love for Oxford.
Kiffin, now settled in as the coach for rival Tigers, sat down with ESPN's Marty Smith and Ryan McGee to explain things in a recorded interview on SEC Network that aired Aug. 10.
The film was **** led "The Many Lives of Lane Kiffin." In it, Kiffin said his six years coaching at Ole Miss were the best of his life on and off the field, and that he needed Oxford a lot more than Oxford needed him.
McGee created the documentary. Because Kiffin left Oxford for Baton Rouge shortly after the film aired, McGee asked Kiffin if he was being truthful in the way he talked about Ole Miss.
"I can totally see why they would ask that," Kiffin responded. "Obviously I see my side. Making a decision to take a different job, in my opinion, on my side of it, has nothing to do with anything that was said in that special."

Every era has its beauty standards, each carrying through to the next generations as either kitsch or cool. The '80s have received their fair share of condemnation and celebration as either or, but there's a unique glamour that '80s soap opera divas, such as Morgan Fairchild, have translated to the decades since.
Although the Texas native got her start on television back in the '70s with hit series such as "Search for Tomorrow," "Happy Days," and "Mork & Mindy," the '80s brought about a fresh new decade of big opportunities (and even bigger hair). Alongside films such as "The Seduction" and "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," Fairchild also continued her career on TV with series like "Flamingo Road" and "Paper Dolls." However, some of her most iconic roles come from her nearly 30-year run on "General Hospital," as well as her stint as Chandler Bing's mom in "Friends." Still acting into her 70s, Fairchild also started her own podcast, "2 B****es From Texas," alongside sister Cathryn Hartt. You can still see traces of her signature '80s glam in her makeup, outfits, and hair today, having refined her taste and tweaked it to the times.
However, while Fairchild was undoubtedly one of the most fashionable actresses of the '80s, there were some looks that were a clear trial and error. Fashion taste fluctuates as our lives do, and as the "Shattered Illusions" star can attest through her own tragedies in life, not every moment can be a hit. Although incredibly rare, here are a few fashion flops from her heyday.

Amid backlash for supporting Perez Hilton in his mental health crisis, Jared Padalecki replied with just three words. The "Supernatural" actor drew criticism online after showing solidarity with the media personality. Padalecki has since clarified his intentions, explaining that the message was about empathy and concern for well-being.
Jared Padalecki is distancing himself from controversial gossip blogger Perez Hilton. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Walker actor reached out to Hilton over the weekend. The outreach came after Hilton was hospitalized on Tuesday, August 4, following an incident on a TikTok livestream where he appeared to injure himself.
Padalecki has spoken candidly in the past about his own mental health challenges, and he leaned on that experience while offering words of encouragement to Hilton on social media.
Padalecki took to X on Saturday, August 8, to write, "Hey PerezHilton. Just wanted to reach out and let you know that you're in my thoughts. This 'being human' is a strange thing. Exhilarating. Exhausting. Fast. Slow. Wonderful…. And… at times… awful. I hope you are trying as best as you can to be kind to yourself right now."
"Please surround yourself with the love and support that all humans deserve. This too shall pass. You got this," concluded the 44-year-old.

One year after flash flooding at Camp Mystic took 28 lives, three fathers are sharing how their young daughters' private faith continues to lift their families.
Speaking on "Saturday in America," Ryan DeWitt, Wade Lytal and Cole Naylor shared how their daughters' deep-rooted faith has sustained them through tragedy. DeWitt and Lytal said they found journals their daughters left behind filled with Bible verses, prayers and messages to God, bringing them comfort as they grieved.
"We knew that she was deeply rooted in her faith, but she wasn't outward about it or braggadocios about it. She just felt it. She felt very deeply," Ryan DeWitt said of his daughter Molly, who was 9 when she died in the floods.
"She just had the biggest heart, and we taught her as much as we could, but there was certainly something else at play, and that was her faith, and it was comforting. As difficult as those days were and still are, it's comforting to know how close she was to God."

Jared Padalecki deleted a public message supporting Perez Hilton during his hospitalization after saying he had been unaware of the extent of the celebrity blogger's controversial history.
The Supernatural actor initially reached out to Hilton on August 8 after the blogger was hospitalized following a disturbing TikTok livestream in which he appeared to harm himself. Padalecki encouraged him to accept support and told him that difficult periods can pass.
A day later, Padalecki removed the message after commenters directed his attention to Hilton's past celebrity coverage. "I didn't know," the actor wrote in his initial response. "It's been brought to my attention. I'm sorry."
Padalecki later explained that he knew Hilton had been a sensationalist tabloid personality and had heard that the blogger had written unkind things about him, but said he had never researched Hilton or understood the broader criticism surrounding his work.
Padalecki expanded on the deletion in a follow-up message reported by Entertainment Weekly. "I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about his past," he wrote.

PHOENIX — Just a week ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers fought back against the belief that they automatically wrapped up their third consecutive World Series championship at the trade deadline with the acquisition of Tarik Skubal.
These days, the Dodgers are battling the idea that they're suddenly an old, broken-down team that will have to fight for its lives just to win the NL West.
Funny what eight losses in nine games, including 15 of the last 24, can do to your perception.
"There's no concern in here," Dodgers veteran All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman said Sunday after the Dodgers' 4-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. "We're a good team."
Any more questions?

Jared Padalecki has walked back his public support of Perez Hilton after receiving criticism online
The Supernatural alum had uploaded a social media message wishing Hilton well after the celebrity blogger was hospitalised after sharing a disturbing livestream in which he engaged in apparent acts of self-harm at his Miami home.
Social media users subsequently criticised Padalecki for allegedly supporting Hilton, given the blogger's past bullying and targeting of various celebrities and their families. Padalecki quietly deleted his message amid the backlash.
"I didn't know. It's been brought to my attention," Padalecki wrote via X on Sunday. "I'm sorry."
"To give more detail re my post wishing someone well, I had absolutely no idea about his past," the Gilmore Girls star shared in a follow-up message that same day.
"I had heard of him. Obviously. I had heard that he hadn't exactly 'been kind' to me in the past. So, my thought is always to give grace and forgiveness to those who may have tried to 'harm' you. In my experience, it usually works out better than holding a grudge or wishing punishment on someone else.

In the wake of the passing of Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Don Nelson, the Celtics have released a statement. After having left us at 86 years of age, the legendary Boston alum touched countless lives across the NBA and beyond it over the course of his career in the league as a player, head coach, and an executive. "Don Nelson's success as a Hall of Fame Coach is so vast, that it could overshadow his playing career, but it would be a mistake to do so," recalled the Celtics release.
"A favorite of (iconic Celtics general manager and head coach) Red Auerbach's, 'Nellie' was a tough and reliable all-around player whose tenacity and ability to 'think the game' was on full display throughout his 11 seasons with the Boston Celtics," it continues, "where he was a key member of five championship teams across two eras."
"His most celebrated moment as a player came in Game 7 of the 1969 NBA Finals against his former team the Los Angeles Lakers, when Nelson converted one of the most famous shots in playoff history—a foul-line jumper which dropped through the basket after hitting the back rim and bouncing several feet straight up," it adds.
"The shot, taken with just over a minute to go in the game and the Celtics clinging to a 103–102 lead, was an essential play in helping secure Boston's 11th NBA ****** le in 13 seasons," closes the release.
"Nellie's number 19 was raised shortly after he retired following yet another championship season in 1976. The Celtics extend our deep condolences to Nelson's family, loved ones, and everyone he touched through his rich and impactful life in basketball and beyond."

Praising communist China is too much, even for a loving mother.
Left-wing streaming star Hasan Piker received a friendly profile from Rolling Stone on Sunday which celebrated him for being a "matinee-handsome progressive icon" who is "uniquely talented at translating radical-left politics for Gen Z bros." But the article noted Piker's mom Sedaf, although she shares most of his political opinions, isn't a big fan of his China admiration.
"I'm not in love with China like he is," she said.
Her comment comes after Piker has praised China — and bashed the USA — on a number of occasions. During a fawning livestream while on a trip to the country last year, Piker insisted he would never dare criticize Mao Zedong, the founder of China's communist government.
"I got stopped by a cop who thought I was making fun of Mao Zedong, which I never would and never will," Piker said. "Mao Zedong is one of the great leaders of this world, OK? A man who changed the entire universe, the entire planet."

Mateusz Gamrot suffered a devastating setback in his long-shot pursuit of a lightweight ****** le in Saturday's UFC Fight Night 284 main event.
Gamrot (26-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) was swept up in the whirlwind rise of Quillan Salkilld (13-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in their headliner at Meta APEX in Las Vegas, finding little success before he was submitted inside the first round.
It's only the second time Gamrot has been finished in his career, and it comes at a difficult time for the 35-year-old. He was just starting to rebuild momentum after short-notice main event loss to Charles Oliveira in October, and his extremely willingness to take on any of the rising names at 155-pound reared its ugly head here.
Time will tell if this loss for Gamrot will ultimately be part of some sort of championship journey for Salkilld, who is being rightfully praised for the performance because everyone holds the Polish fighter in that high of regard. Gamrot doesn't have time given his age, though, at least according to the history of elite-tier divisional competition.
The upside for him, however, is that he is extremely dedicated to the sport and seemingly lives a pure life. He will work hard to bounce back from this, and will surely accept whatever name UFC gives to him.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony is normally a joyous time to honor the new inductees.
It is also a time to reflect on the new members' careers and lives, and sometimes it can be a sad occasion.
New Hall of Fame inductee Roger Craig, who played for the San Francisco 49ers during their dynasty run in the 80s, announced that he has dementia.
Craig believes he got the disease from concussions he had gotten over the years while playing. He and his family started to notice changes in him and chalked it up to old age.
"Over time, my family noticed it too and ultimately led us to seek answers from my doctor," Craig said. "Two things can be true: Football gave me opportunities beyond anything I could imagine. It helped shape the man I became. At the same time, we know more today about brain health than when I played, and I hope sharing my story encourages people to pay attention to their health and seek help when something doesn't feel right."

One sad part of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and **** ss of Sussex, doing fewer outings since leaving behind their royal duties is that royal fans can't see more of their chic outfits. The two are always impeccably dressed, even when they aren't doing anything too special. This was especially true around the time that Harry and Meghan got married when they were working royals, going to other royal weddings, dinners, and more.
Thankfully, Meghan and Harry's wardrobes still have the same great style even while living in the U.S. and focusing on raising their two kids, Archie and Lilibet. It's one thing about the lavish world of British royals that they seem to have brought over to their more private lives when they moved away. On the rare occasions that Meghan and Harry have attended formal events and holiday celebrations, or visited other countries, over the years, they've had plenty of fantastic matching outfits.
Some couple's past matching outfits were super cohesive, with the spouses wearing the exact same color. Other times, Meghan and Harry wore more subtle complementary attire in similar shades and clothing items. But overall, the two have definitely proven that they have couples' clothing mastered. Here's a look at some of the best matching moments from one of the most popular celebrity couples out there.

The '80s were one of the biggest decades of all time, literally and figuratively. From ultra-teased hair to an endless rotation of power ballads playing on radio stations, there was no such thing as too much during this time. Although there was no social media back then, celebrity culture was huge, and folks loved reading about juicy gossip in the tabloids. That was our gateway into their glamorous lives and their love lives. People loved reading about which stars had hooked up, broken up, and made up.
Some romances of the decade stood the test of time and remain Hollywood's success story. Others have fizzled out with a dramatic bang, but are still among those relationships that fans look back on fondly. And it's not just fans who reminisce about their fave celebs' brief romantic stint. Some famous faces have even opened up about their past lovers years later, proving that these were meaningful connections. The '80s were totally tubular in all the right ways, and these couples will go down in history as some of the best romances of the period.

Talk about a love that was meant to be. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell first met in 1966 on the set of "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band," but the "Tombstone" actor wasn't even legal. Fast forward 17 years, and the two reconnected while filming "Swing Shift" and have been together since. After welcoming their son Wyatt together in 1986, Hawn and Russell proved that their on-screen chemistry was as strong as ever while filming "Overboard" a year later. Hawn later shared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in 2017 that rewatching the hit comedy with her longtime partner brought all the feels. "You know how sometimes you forget why you fell in love? I remembered everything, and why I fell in love. It was really something to be able to watch that," she gushed.

Melissa Barrera said she doesn't regret her social media posts about the war in Gaza, which cost her the role in "Scream 7." According to her, the consequences were isolating but represent only one episode of a trend that, she said, happened to many others in the entertainment industry.
Melissa Barrera, who starred in the 2022 and 2023 movies of the "Scream" series as well as in "In the Heights," was fired from her role in the upcoming sequel of the movie by Spyglass Media Group in November 2023. The decision was made because of Instagram posts in which Melissa condemned the actions of Israel in Gaza, calling them genocide and ethnic cleansing and demanding peace. At the same time, Melissa left her talent agency.
During the recent interview on the public radio show "Latino USA," Melissa Barrera said that the decision to fire her from the role was part of a larger plan to silence the criticism of the war.
"It's hard to comprehend, but it's also not the first time that that has happened to someone, and it won't be the last. There are a lot of people that got fired for basically saying Palestinians deserve human rights, and they shouldn't be getting bombed and attacked in this way. And it's sad to me that there are interests that are more important to certain people of power and money, and that they don't care about people's lives and that they will do everything they can to shut people up from saying that people deserve to live, that children deserve to grow up," she said.
Spyglass Media Group said at the moment that they have zero tolerance for antisemitism or hate speech. Melissa Barrera claimed that her comments were about the actions of the war, not antisemitic.

Perez Hilton's friends reportedly fear that his life-threatening battle with sepsis may be part of the larger picture surrounding his recent mental health crisis. The 48-year-old gossip blogger was hospitalized Tuesday after authorities responded to multiple reports that he was livestreaming acts of self-harm from inside his Miami home. Although Hilton's close circle reportedly suspects he may be experiencing psychological complications **** ociated with surviving sepsis, an expert cautioned that no direct connection can be established without a proper medical evaluation.

Hilton spent three weeks in the hospital in March after developing an ulcer, a perforation and sepsis. His friends now reportedly fear that the traumatic medical ordeal may have affected his mental health in the months that followed.
"His health struggles this year have been extreme. The sepsis honestly almost killed him," a source told Page Six. "I don't know if people realize just how traumatic and horrific that was for him, both physically, but also emotionally."
Post-sepsis syndrome affects up to 50% of survivors and can involve "new or worsened physical, cognitive, and psychological problems for months to years after hospital discharge," according to the Sepsis Alliance.

TJ Jackson is refusing to celebrate Perez Hilton's hospitalization despite the gossip blogger's painful history with his famous family. The son of ***** o Jackson and nephew of the late Michael Jackson revealed that he is praying for Hilton after the blogger was hospitalized following a severe mental health crisis. Although some social media users argued that Hilton's past behavior made him undeserving of sympathy, Jackson insisted that he was not raised to find pleasure in another person's suffering.

Jackson first addressed the situation on X after seeing widespread discussion about a disturbing livestream involving Hilton. The singer explained that he had no interest in viewing footage from the incident but acknowledged what he had heard about it.
"Everybody is talking about this Perez Hilton video. I haven't seen it but from what I've heard it's horrible," Jackson wrote. "One thing I'll say…He hasn't been nice to many celebs, including my family."
Despite Hilton's previous treatment of the Jacksons, TJ said he still wanted him to recover. "Nevertheless, I never want to see anyone broken and in such a dark place. I am praying for his healing and his health," the performer added.

Everyone has a celebrity crush, but most of the world can't actually act on those feelings like Jamie Lee Curtis did in 1984. That was when she saw her husband, Christopher Guest, for the first time, coming across a photo of him in the pages of Rolling Stone. The moment Curtis' eyes landed on Guest, she knew she needed to meet him, so she used her own fame to call his agency and ask them to hook her up. Shockingly, Guest didn't respond. Still, Curtis didn't give up, and the universe was on her side.
Talking about the fateful day she finally met her husband on "The Drew Barrymore Show," Curtis went into detail, explaining that, two months later, she went out to lunch with fellow successful nepo baby Melanie Griffith and spotted the man of her dreams in the flesh. "I sat down at a table and. ... Chris was sitting two tables away facing me." The two waved at one another and then, somewhat surprisingly, Guest left the restaurant, but not before looking at Curtis one more time, shrugging his shoulders, and waving goodbye, to which Curtis responded in kind. Thankfully, Guest's agent hadn't tossed Curtis' number out, and the "Waiting for Guffman" director called her the next day. The two went on their first date four days later, but there was one more roadblock they would need to overcome before they could spend their lives together: their careers.
As Curtis explained, "He was leaving for a year on 'Saturday Night Live' ... I was starting the movie 'Perfect' in Los Angeles. ... So we are now opposite coasts." But the two found a way to make things work, traveling to meet up each weekend and, just a month later, they were engaged and married before the end of the year.
