The Cooper Companies Inc. (NASDAQ:COO), a leading medical device company, announced its third quarter fiscal 2026 results on September 9. Topline went up 1% to $1.066 billion in comparison with the same quarter last year, which also included 1% organic growth. The company posted quarterly adjusted diluted EPS of $1.15, which represented a 4% jump from Q3 FY25. During the quarter, $339.1 million was spent on repurchasing around 4.9 million of the company's common shares. This leaves management with $1.5 billion of repurchase capacity, which remains available after the Board had raised its buyback authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion.
The quarter featured several encouraging highlights. These include earnings that exceeded projections, notable growth across the fertility segment within CooperSurgical, record free cash flow generation, and a major tax resolution in the company's favor.
GAAP gross margin went up from 65% in Q3 FY25 to 67% during the recent quarter, largely reflecting the comparison against fiscal 2025 inventory write-downs tied to a CooperSurgical product line exit. Adjusted operating margin improved by 30 basis points to 26%, supported by cost discipline and productivity gains, though partly offset by currency headwinds.
Interest expense fell to $21.5 million from $25.4 million a year prior, reflecting lower rates and reduced average debt. Free cash flow surged 66% to $273.0 million, driven by $341.7 million in operating cash flow less $68.7 million in capital spending.
Due to unfavorable currency movements and rising manufacturing costs, the Q3 gross margin settled at 67% on adjusted basis. This was a 60 basis point drop from Q3 FY25. Certain areas of the business grant caution, such as the CooperVision segment. It generated flat organic growth amid notable weakness across the Asia Pacific and Americas regions.

Investors hammered Cooper Companies (COO) on Thursday after the medtech's fiscal third-quarter sales lagged Wall Street's expectations, leading to a guidance cut.
Specifically, the CooperVision segment — which sells contact lenses — missed expectations by 4.5%, William Blair **** yst Steven Lichtman said in a report. The miss was due to destocking. Further, the company opted against selling its CooperSurgical business following a strategic review.
"The 'no sale' is a surprise after management highlighted prospective buyers on the last earnings call," he said. "With CVI (CooperVision) results also disappointing, the stock moves back into the penalty box."
On today's stock market, Cooper Companies shares toppled 14.7%, closing at 54.17. Shares are already trading well below their key moving averages, IBD MarketSurge charts show.
Cooper said it couldn't sell the surgical division due to competition for its implantable contraceptive, Paragard, an intrauterine device. In June, Organon (OGN) licensed Miudella, a rival to Cooper's non-hormonal IUD. Cooper is also facing fertility litigation, BofA Securities **** yst Travis Steed said in a note to clients.

Meg Jones, captain of England women's rugby union team, wants Red Roses players to have access to fertility support and egg freezing.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Jones said: "Why should my opportunity to have a family be taken away from me because I want to pursue my career?"
Jones revealed she has already started her fertility journey with her fiancee after visiting a clinic to have their egg count checked.
The 29-year-old says that she's an "open book" on some subjects and wants to "share her journey" as she discusses both her upcoming wedding and family planning with equal comfort.
"We were looking to freeze, but actually the advice was we don't need to freeze yet so we can probably wait till after the wedding," said Jones. "That's where we were going to look to conceive."

Chelsea's Women's Soccer Team has been the most successful in England over the past decade. They have invested a lot of money in bringing quality players to play for the club.
However, their most recent investment is all about the well-being of their players.
They became the first English club to set up a fund to freeze eggs and provide other fertility services to their players. Chelsea follows the NWSL and the WNBA, as both leagues offer this to their players.
Treatments within this fund include freezing eggs, IVF, and gynaecological treatments. According to The Observer, the fund is worth at least £189,000 ($255,448).
The cost of egg freezing at a clinic is around £7,000. As part of the fund, Chelsea players are allowed to either freeze their eggs or avail other fertility treatments at the Fertility Plus Clinic in London.

The sports broadcaster, 48, hopes to expand her family with husband Jarret Stoll, according to a Us Weekly report published Tuesday, September 1. The couple welcomed their son, Mack, via surrogate in July 2023 after a years-long fertility struggle.

"It's a lot harder at [age] 48 than I ever thought it would be," Andrews said, per the report.

Tennessee ******* ans defensive back Nazeeh Johnson will start the 2026 NFL regular season serving a six-game suspension after he violated the league's policy regarding performance-enhancing substances.
The situation, though, appears to be more than meets the eye and has drawn plenty of reaction since Johnson issued a heart-wrenching response to the decision that told a different story.
Here's what we know and how the situation has developed.
Johnson took to social media shortly after the news broke, making clear that what happened was not intentional. The defensive back says he and his wife, Gabby Irving, were trying to conceive a child, and that he did not know there was a substance in the medication he was taking that was not allowed.
"We found out that I was infertile, and I took a fertility medication that was helping me try to conceive a baby," Johnson wrote on X.

Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below.
A couple, 37 and 39, spent three rounds of IVF over two years before a successful pregnancy, financing each round on credit cards and a fertility specific loan when insurance covered almost none of it. The balance now sits at $52,000, and with a baby due in four months, they're trying to figure out how to pay it down before childcare costs stack on top of it.
Fertility treatment coverage varies enormously by state and employer, and only a limited number of states currently mandate any insurance coverage for IVF specifically. Most couples paying out of pocket are covering costs that can run $15,000 to $20,000 per round once medications, monitoring, and the procedure itself are included.

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are opening up about one of the most painful chapters of their relationship. In the upcoming documentary "Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear," the couple revealed they suffered a heartbreaking pregnancy loss before welcoming their son, Rocky. The deeply personal revelation comes as the documentary offers an intimate look at Travis Barker's life, career, and relationship with the reality star.
According to the documentary, Kardashian became pregnant with a baby girl roughly six months after the couple transitioned from longtime friends to romantic partners in late 2020.

Barker and Kardashian welcomed their son, Rocky, in November 2023 after years of publicly documenting their fertility journey.
Following the pregnancy loss, Kardashian said the pair turned to IVF in hopes of growing their family. According to the documentary, the couple underwent IVF treatments five separate times across an eight-month period without success. Fertility may not be a reason for men to avoid GLP-1 medications. In fact, they could see an improvement.
After 24 weeks of treatment with GLP-1s, a class of medications that treats diabetes and is prescribed widely for weight loss, men ages 18 to 65 saw improved testosterone levels, sperm count, and size and shape of sperm, said principle investigator of the study Dr. Pratibha Natesh, a consultant endocrinologist at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and honorary clinical lecturer at Warwick Medical School in England.
About 15% of couples in the United States have trouble conceiving, and more than half of those couples have a male infertility problem, according to Yale Medicine. Healthcare providers define infertility as not conceiving after 12 months of regular, unprotected ***** ual intercourse.
More studies need to be done before GLP-1s are prescribed as a first-line treatment for male infertility, said Dr. Lidia Mínguez Alarcón, a Spanish reproductive epidemiologist and ***** istant professor of medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts. She was not involved in the research.
However, the results do suggest that men considering GLP-1s for weight loss or medical conditions may want to ponder possible benefits for their fertility as well, Natesh said.

President Trump on Friday announced that over 100 prescription medications would be added to his administration's direct-to-consumer drug platform, TrumpRx, the second expansion of the initiative in as many months.
"I am pleased to announce that TrumpRx.gov is adding another 160 Prescription Drugs, at highly discounted prices, for a new total of over 800 of the most commonly-used Prescription Drugs," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"TrumpRx.gov will now provide clear, transparent, and DISCOUNTED offerings for FOUR OUT OF FIVE of every prescription filled by Americans," the president added.
TrumpRx debuted in February with 43 branded prescription drugs, offering medications that treat conditions such as asthma, infertility and obesity to consumers at varying discounted rates. The platform now features two lists of medications, one for branded medications called "presidential deals" and another for generic drugs called "standard prices."
It was built to facilitate Trump's "most favored nation" (MFN) policy, which is designed to lower the cost of prescription drugs for U.S. consumers by dictating that drugmakers cannot charge a price for a specific brand-name drug higher than the lowest net price paid by other developed nations.

A century after her birth, Marilyn Monroe is being seen in a new light — not as the troubled starlet of Hollywood lore, but as a woman quietly suffering from a debilitating and largely misunderstood disease.
End of the Cycle, a new documentary featuring Amy Schumer, Julianne Hough and others, makes the case that Monroe's long-misread public persona — her absences, her multiple miscarriages and her reputation for being "difficult" — were all likely symptoms of endometriosis, Page Six reported Wednesday, June 3.
"The way she's been portrayed all these years has not been accurate," co-director Sammy Jaye said at the screening at New York City's Whitby Hotel, per the report. "If anyone mentions Marilyn Monroe in a negative way, you can revert back to this and know that she was going through [the disease] at a time when she couldn't have said anything, and there wasn't social media."
According to the outlet, Jaye, who also lives with endometriosis, noted that Monday marked what would have been Monroe's 100th birthday, adding, "You look at what has and hasn't changed over the past 100 years with treatments and medicines … not much has changed."
According to the Endometriosis Collective, a global nonprofit research organization, more than 265 million women worldwide are affected by the condition, which causes tissue similar to the uterine lining to grow outside the uterus, resulting in intense, chronic pain. The disease has no cure and cannot be diagnosed without surgery. On average, women wait 7 to 14 years to receive a diagnosis, and more than 30 percent of those with endometriosis experience infertility.
