NEW DELHI, Sept 12 (Reuters) - The BRICS group of nations unanimously adopted a ‌joint declaration on Saturday, expressing "deep concern" over the war ‌in the Middle East and urged maximum restraint, advocating for a "multilateral approach" that respects national viewpoints.
The declaration, adopted on the first day of the BRICS leaders' annual summit in New Delhi, comes at a time when U.S. and Iran have ‌resumed ****** -for-tat strikes ⁠against each other, after a pause in fighting for much of August.
The BRICS bloc includes ⁠both Iran and Washington-ally United Arab Emirates, which was expected to make clinching a joint statement consensus a particularly challenging task for host New Delhi.
"We express deep concern over the ‌continued escalation of tensions in Middle East...call for exercising maximum restraint...avoiding actions that could further aggravate the situation," the 'New Delhi Declaration' said.

Jack Doherty has been accused of targeting women described as "young and vulnerable" with promises of a glamorous lifestyle before allegedly taking a substantial share of the money they generated. Former employees claim the controversial YouTuber used his massive social media following to promote women selling adult content while exercising considerable control over their businesses. The allegations have resurfaced as Doherty faces heightened scrutiny following his recent arrest on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge in Florida.
Doherty built his online following through confrontational pranks, livestreams and increasingly outrageous public stunts. As his operation expanded, luxury cars, private jets and scantily clad models became a regular part of his content.
Former employee Matthew Gonzalez, a content creator who has worked with Jake Paul and MrBeast, reportedly spent approximately six months working for Doherty in 2023. "He did whatever he had to do to get views," Gonzalez told the Daily Mail.
Gonzalez claimed Doherty's controversial behavior helped him build a large audience of young viewers. According to the former employee, that following was later used to promote models who sold adult content.
The arrangement allegedly allowed Doherty to profit from both the public videos featuring the women and their separate subscription-based accounts.

NEW YORK — The Mets are hoping to preserve Christian Scott in the long term and additional rest might just help him down the stretch.
On Sunday afternoon, Scott will make his first start in nine days as he takes the mound for the Mets against the Giants at 1:40 p.m. at Citi Field.
The Mets are exercising caution with Scott, who missed all of last season on the heels of Tommy John surgery in September 2024. Scott has thrown 94⅔ innings across 20 starts for the Mets, notching a 4-4 record with a 3.80 ERA and 113 strikeouts. The right-hander also threw 13⅔ innings in the minor leagues and missed two weeks in June with a right hip impingement.
Sunday will be the first test to prove how additional rest can suit Scott.
The Giants with have left-handed rookie Cesar Perdomo on the mound for Sunday's game. Perdomo made his major league debut on Sept. 1 against the Pirates, allowing one earned run at three hits and one walk with four strikeouts in four innings. He was 7-2 with a 5.10 ERA in nine games for Triple-A Sacramento before being called up.

While standing in a private parking lot in Sussex, Wisconsin, on May 4, 2025, Napoleon Jones witnessed a traffic stop made by an out-of-county police officer. "It just didn't sit right with me," Jones told TMJ4 News, a local NBC News affiliate. "So I did what I legally could do, and I walked over and recorded it."
Jones, a United States Navy veteran, was well within his rights to record the police stop. But even though he recorded from a safe distance without interfering, that didn't stop the Waukesha County Sheriff's deputy, Brandon Shayhorn, from later unlawfully stopping and arresting Jones.
After Shayhorn completed the traffic stop, Jones returned to his vehicle. But before Jones could exit the parking lot, Shayhorn turned on his lights and initiated a second stop, claiming Jones' temporary license plate, displayed in the rearview window, was unreadable, reports TMJ4 News. Shayhorn demanded to see Jones' driver's license, but Jones refused, arguing that he'd been unlawfully pulled over on private property. Video clips of the encounter show the deputy opening Jones' door and pulling him from his vehicle.
Jones was subsequently arrested "for resisting and obstructing," according to a federal lawsuit he filed against the arresting officers and police department. But after being held in custody for five hours, he was released with no citations or criminal charges. An internal post-arrest memorandum reviewed by Reason revealed that Shayhorn's supervisor informed him shortly after the arrest that he'd, in fact, illegally stopped Jones, and he therefore could not compel Jones to produce his identification.
The next day, Jones filed a citizen's complaint against Shayhorn for the illegal stop and said he believed Shayhorn retaliated against him for exercising his First Amendment right to record. Jones then sought legal counsel to pursue claims against the arresting officers and the police department for his unlawful stop, detention, and arrest.

The Boston Red Sox will begin one of their biggest series of the season without Roman Anthony. Anthony remained with Triple-A Worcester on Friday instead of joining Boston for its series opener against the New York Yankees, according to Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The development might disappoint Red Sox fans who hoped Anthony's two-hit performance Thursday would serve as the final step in his rehab **** ignment. However, there is no indication the 22-year-old suffered a setback with the torn ligament in his finger that has sidelined him since May.
Instead, the Red Sox appear to be exercising patience with one of their most important players.
Anthony went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a single Thursday. He has batted .304 across rehab stops with Double-A Portland and Worcester while hitting two home runs. Those numbers suggest Anthony is close. His own evaluation explained why Boston might want to give him more time.

David Krumholtz looks to be stepping back from Hollywood for now. The veteran actor made the unexpected announcement on social media before deleting the post.
"I kinda sorta put my acting career on hold the other day. It's been something I've been petrified to do for years. Specifically, the fear was that I'd go broke and not be able to handle being out of the game. But I sent the definitive email," Krumholtz posted on Threads, per The Hollywood Reporter. "And gotta say, a huge wave of relief washed over me. Not sure what I'm going to do for money instead, or how I'm going to do it, but I just removed a humongous burden, one that I truly didn't fathom the weight of until it was gone. Frustrated, fed up, fried."
The post drew a lot of attention right away, and the 48-year-old stayed engaged by answering fans in the comments. Addressing the reactions, the Numb3rs actor explained, "The love and encouragement re: my last post is overwhelmingly surprising. Acting professionally is a very different concept than the exercise of acting itself. I've enjoyed every single minute of exercising the muscle. I've enjoyed the fanfare. There was a time when being competitive and self-involved really served my pursuit. That time has passed. Much to MY overwhelming surprise. There will always be great joy in the exercise. But for me, the profession has lost its gleam."
As reported by Deadline, David Krumholtz went on to clarify that he's "not quitting entirely," noting, "Just taking a bit of a step back and an indefinite break. The stress of the moment has me wondering if there's a higher calling to pursue. Thanks for the very kind thought. Means the world."

Before this series, the Dodgers hadn't scored at least six runs in consecutive games since June 29-30. Shohei Ohtani hit a two-run lead to give the Dodgers a lead in the third inning, continuing a hot streak that included four extra-base hits on the homestand and two home run in Monday's series opener. Ohtani's sixth home run in his last 13 games was also his 30th of the season, just the seventh Dodger to hit 30 home runs in at least three consecutive seasons, and the first since Gary Sheffield from 1999-2001.
After two home runs on Monday and Tuesday's blast, Ohtani since joining the Dodgers in 2024 has nine home runs in 19 games at Coors Field while hitting .407/.478/.840 with 25 runs scored and 23 RBI.

DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky traded posts on social media with former NFL player and current commentator Emmanuel Acho on Monday after she was ejected from Saturday's WNBA game against the Indiana Fever.
Carrington committed a hard foul against Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, and after a review, was ******* sed with a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game. Shortly after she was off the court, a post that read "WHITE PRIVILEGE indianafever" was sent out from one of her social media accounts.
Acho offered his take on the situation on his podcast Speakeasy on Sunday night: "If we are paying attention to what DiJonai Carrington did to Sophie Cunningham, it was not a race-based decision, and to call that a white-privileged-based foul is to completely undermine the term of white privilege and also completely ignore the rules in basketball."
While Acho was one of many commentators to weigh in on Carrington's foul, his comments stand out because they prompted a response from Carrington herself.
"I've never once claimed that the ******* sment of the foul was white privilege (that was your ******* umption)," Carrington posted in response to Acho. Chrissy Metz has revealed that she is taking a GLP-1 medication after years of skepticism, saying concerns about her long-term health eventually persuaded her to reconsider.
The 45-year-old This Is Us star said perimenopause, obesity within her family and health problems involving her father all contributed to her decision. She discussed the treatment with her doctor and says she ultimately concluded that trying a GLP-1 could be beneficial for her.
Metz, who is now a brand ambassador for telehealth company Ro, says one of the biggest changes has been a reduction in what she calls "food noise", the persistent thoughts about food and what she would eat next. She has also reported improvements in mobility, joint pain, inflammation, energy and blood work.
Metz began taking a GLP-1 later, in 2026, after she had already publicly discussed changing her diet, exercising and working with a trainer.
Metz told PEOPLE that she had spent years **** uming a GLP-1 either would not work for her or would produce side effects she did not want. Her experience so far has been more positive than she expected.

Makai Lemon is back on the Philadelphia Eagles' injury report and will not participate in Tuesday's training camp practice because of a hamstring injury.
The update comes after Lemon was limited to individual work and did not participate in team drills during a recent practice. Ryan Fowler of NBC Sports Philadelphia and Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer subsequently reported that Lemon was fine and that the issue keeping him out of team periods was not considered significant.
Philadelphia is exercising caution rather than asking its rookie receiver to practice through the injury. The team has not provided a timetable for his return or indicated whether the hamstring issue is connected to the one that affected Lemon earlier in the offseason. Any missed time is important for the Eagles, who are evaluating a wide-open receiver competition behind DeVonta Smith. Philadelphia added Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks and Elijah Moore during the offseason, while Darius Cooper, Johnny Wilson, Britain Covey and several other receivers are competing for roles.
Lemon's route-running ability, competitiveness and versatility give him a chance to contribute during his first season. Cagliari are reportedly searching the market for a new right wing-back, as Lazio's Romano Floriani Mussolini emerges as a potential solution.
The 23-year-old is a Lazio youth product who rose to prominence following his Serie B exploits at Juve Stabia in 2024/25. Last season, the Roma native had his first Serie A experience at Cremonese, but he couldn't lock down a starting role. Following their relegation, the Lombardians opted against exercising their option to buy the player, who rejoined the Biancocelesti's ranks.
This may have been a blessing in disguise for Floriani Mussolini, who is now enjoying an impressive pre-season as part of Gennaro Gattuso's camp and is expected to play his football in Italy's top flight once more.
According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Cagliari have added Floriani Mussolini to their wing-back shortlist. Last season, the Isolani had Marco Palestra patrolling their right flank. The youngster cemented himself as one of the best players in Serie A and has since returned to Atalanta, who subsequently sold him to Chelsea for €55 million
Therefore, the Rossoblu need a new right-back/right wing-back, and Floriani Mussolini has been targeted, although he's not the only man on their shortlist. Di Marzio also reveals that the club is close to acquiring Atalanta's Daniel Maldini, who spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Lazio.

The attorney for Duane "Keefe D" Davis, the man charged with the first-degree murder of Tupac Shakur, is speaking out ahead of the start of his trial.
In an interview with The U.S. Sun published Tuesday, July 28, Mike Sanft said there "should never have been charges" against Davis in the first place, adding that his client's past comments about his alleged involvement in Shakur's murder were not necessarily truthful.
"It's exercising your First Amendment right to free speech," Sanft said. "Is it in good taste? Probably not. But once again, it's exercising in his right to free speech."
Davis previously recalled in his 2019 memoir Compton Street Legend the night Shakur was shot.
According to Sanft, authorities "should have rolled their eyes at Keefe and been like, 'Dude, seriously, why'd you even write that book? That's dumb.' Ultimately, when you really look into the book itself and the details of it it's not necessarily criminal."

Just weeks after its initial public offering, ******* e Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX), aka ******* eX, announced a major acquisition. The Elon Musk-founded ******* e exploration and artificial intelligence (AI) company announced a further pivot toward the latter trend with its plans to acquire Anysphere, the developer of AI coding platform Cursor, in a $60 billion all-stock deal.
So far, this announcement has had a limited impact on ******* eX's stock performance. Shares were pulling back around the announcement and just after, but have started to bounce back of late. Let's take a closer look and see what a deal could mean for ******* eX, which is arguably as much an AI stock as it is a ******* e stock.

After exercising an option back in April, before it went public, ******* eX became obligated either to acquire Anysphere for $60 billion or else pay it a $1.5 billion termination fee and provide it with $8.5 billion in computing resources.
But while ******* eX may have been more or less "obligated" to buy Cursor, the price tag may be far more reasonable than it appears at first glance. Given the rich valuation of ******* eX stock, even after its pullback, financing this as an all-stock deal costs existing investors fairly little in terms of dilution. Even if ******* eX prices the Cursor acquisition at its current stock price of around $164 per share, rather than the $200 per share or more it was trading at last month, that would mean a 365.9 million increase in the share count.

Pride Night 2026 came and went with relatively little fanfare or drama, all things considered. It is easy to forget that this time last year, tensions in Los Angeles surrounding the Dodgers were elevated, partly because Clayton Kershaw decided to doodle on his cap (not the subject of today's essay) and partly because the city was being ravaged by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ("ICE") raids that were rounding up citizens and immigrants alike.
The Dodgers organization finally stood up last year, urged on by Enrique Hernández , broadcasting legend Jaime Jarrín, and others, pledging $1 million to local charities to aid those affected by the ICE raids. On June 24, 2026, A.J. Perez of the Los Angeles Times reported that the Dodgers had fulfilled their pledge and Guggenheim Partners had divested their ties to the prison group actively working with ICE. Per Mr. Perez :
In total, the Dodgers donated $1.1 million, representatives for California Community Foundation and Labor Community Services — the two nonprofits that received the funds — told The Times.
"The Dodgers have been in L.A. for 68 years," said Joseph Tomás McKellar, executive director of PICO California. "They're beloved among immigrant communities in a way that no other sports team is. That gives the Dodgers cultural and financial power in the region. We applaud what they did, but they could do even more by exercising leadership."
To understand the significance of the moves, we must recall the state of affairs at this time last year.

The Brooklyn Nets came into NBA free-agency with some matters to attend to before 6 PM ET on Jun. 30 when teams can negotiate with free-agents from other teams. Prior to the official beginning of free-agency, Brooklyn had to consider which players they were exercising team options on and contract options of that nature, but it looks like the Nets brought back most of the players.
To being, the Nets declined the $6.25 million team option on forward Ziaire Williams' contract for the 2026-27 season on Sunday, officially making him an unrestricted free-agent before the official start of free-agency. There is still a chance for Brooklyn to re-sign Williams once free-agency opens, but there seems to be other teams interested in his services if he does not return to the Nets.
More to the point, Brooklyn declined to tender qualifying offers to forwards Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson, also making them unrestricted free-agents prior to the beginning of free-agency. Given that the Nets acquired Agbaji from the Toronto Raptors in the middle of last season via trade, there was some interest surrounding his free-agency, but it seems like he and Wilson will be able to test the market before making any decisions.
As far as who the Nets brought back, they plan to re-sign forward Josh Minott to a two-year, $9 million deal and plan to sign center Day'Ron Sharpe to a two-year deal worth around $20 million. Given that free-agency hasn't officially opened as of this writing, Brooklyn cannot officially re-sign either of them, but it seems that the intention is there to bring both of them back to the Nets.
The Nets have picked up the $2.15 million team option on guard Malachi Smith's contract for the 2026-27 season so he will be back, though his contract is fully non-guaranteed. Also, forward Chaney Johnson will sign the Two-Way qualifying offer that Brooklyn extended to him so he will be back with the Nets and he will be playing in the summer leagues with the team. The official start of free-agency should be interesting.

The 2026 offseason opened with questions about wide receiver Quentin Johnston's future with the Chargers, but the season will kick off without the same kind of uncertainty.
Chargers General Manager Joe Hortiz shot down trade rumors early in the offseason and the team deepened its commitment to the wideout by exercising their option on his contract for 2027. The move guarantees Johnston $18 million for that season and the announcement came amid of flurry of positive comments about the receiver from head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
As the offseason program came to an end, Johnston discussed how much he valued those signs of belief from the team.
"It means a lot," Johnston said, via the team's website. "With that validation comes a little relief for myself, a weight I have previous years on my shoulders about how I was playing and what's going to come after that if I don't change. Like I said, I've been working as hard as I can the past few years, end up getting that validation now."
Johnston has 16 touchdown catches over the last two years and he set a career high with 735 receiving yards in 2025. That trajectory validated the Chargers' decision to use a first-round pick on Johnston and continued progress should put him in line for an even longer stay in Los Angeles.

SEOUL, June 23 (Reuters) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said exercising the country's position as a nuclear state is the only way to cope with an unpredictable and complicated ‌global security situation, KCNA state news agency reported on Tuesday.
"Unimaginable, astonishing incidents and events" are occurring because ‌of the "gangster-like" greed of hegemonic forces, making confrontations around the world more violent, Kim said, blaming the U.S. for worsening bloodshed in Europe and the Middle East.
He was speaking at a Central Committee meeting of the ruling Workers' Party, running from Saturday to Monday, KCNA said.
Kim accused the U.S. and South Korea of making the security situation on the Korean Peninsula more dangerous by steadily upgrading their combined nuclear posture, the only purpose of which, he said, is to attack North Korea.

Six years ago, Richard Hershey was distributing religious leaflets on a public sidewalk in a public park surrounding a public arena in Bossier City, Louisiana, when he was accosted by police officers who insisted that he stop. Hershey, who was promoting the views of the Christian Vegetarian ***** ociation outside a Christian rock concert at the Bossier City Arena, pointed out that he was exercising his constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and freedom of religion. He also noted that the officers had not interfered with another leafleteer, who was advertising a local radio station.
The cops were unmoved. If Hershey did not leave immediately, they said, he would be arrested, and he likewise would be carted off to jail if he ever dared return to the park.
It would be hard to imagine a more blatant violation of First Amendment rights. But last October, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit held that Hershey could not sue the officers responsible for it because they were protected by qualified immunity, a doctrine that bars federal civil rights claims unless they allege violations of "clearly established" law. Now Hershey is asking the Supreme Court to overrule that jaw-dropping conclusion, which illustrates how broad interpretations of qualified immunity prevent victims of outrageous police misconduct from vindicating their rights.
"The right to evangelize in public, free of viewpoint-based government suppression, is as clearly established as any right in the firmament," Hershey's lawyers, who include former Solicitor General Paul Clement and litigators at the First Liberty Institute, note in a Supreme Court petition filed last Friday. "It is squarely protected by two separate but overlapping clauses of the First Amendment—the Free Speech and Free Exercise Clauses—and by decisions of this Court underscoring that viewpoint discrimination is verboten and that discrimination against religious speech is viewpoint discrimination (im)pure and simple. No government official should need an on-point circuit precedent to illustrate what the Constitution itself and this Court's cases make clear beyond cavil."
Hershey filed his lawsuit under 42 USC 1983, which authorizes people to sue state or local officials for violating statutory or constitutional rights under color of law. That provision, which dates back to the Civil Rights Act of 1871, says nothing about qualified immunity. The Supreme Court invented that doctrine in the 1982 case Harlow v. Fitzgerald on the theory that officials should be liable under Section 1983 only when they had fair notice that their conduct was illegal or unconstitutional.

SpaceX shares hit a new high on Tuesday after Elon Musk's company announced a $60 billion all-stock deal to acquire AI coding startup Cursor, extending a post-IPO rally that has pushed ***** eX's stock above $210 per share, according to MarketWatch.
The Cursor acquisition was disclosed in a Form 8-K filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
"SpaceX has exercised the option to acquire [Cursor] in an all-stock transaction with the goal of building the world's most useful AI models," ***** eX said in a post on X. "For the past few months, ***** eXAI has been jointly training a model with Cursor, which will be released in Cursor and Grok Build soon."
The deal had been in the works for months. According to the filing, ***** eX secured an exclusive option in April to acquire Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, or pay a $10 billion breakup fee.
After exercising that option on June 16, ***** eX signed a $60 billion merger agreement with Anysphere and its subsidiary X67 that will make the AI coding startup a wholly owned ***** eX subsidiary. Anysphere shareholders will receive ***** eX Class A stock based on the company's average share price over the seven trading days preceding the deal's close. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval.

The New York Jets aren't taking any chances with quarterback Cade Klubnik.
As the team's 2026 NFL minicamp continued this week, the rookie once again found himself watching portions of practice rather than participating in them. Head coach Aaron Glenn provided an update.
