They announced the signing of Dyonte Johnson on Tuesday. He takes the roster spot previously held by Dominique Hampton, who has been waived with an injury designation.
Johnson signed with the Giants after going undrafted in 2023 and played in two games for them during the 2024 season. He had 11 tackles during those appearances and most recently saw action in the UFL.
Hampton signed with the ***** ans earlier this month. He entered the league as a 2024 fifth-round pick in Washington and played in one game during his rookie season.

The Seattle Storm finally have a reason to celebrate again. After enduring more than a month without a victory, Seattle snapped its franchise-record-tying 11-game losing streak Monday night with a 97-88 win over the Chicago Sky at Climate Pledge Arena.
Dominique Malonga made sure the painful skid ended there. The 20-year-old All-Star delivered 26 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals, shooting 9-of-14 from the field in one of her most complete performances of the season.
Seattle never trailed, built a 17-point advantage and survived a dangerous late push from Chicago to secure its first victory since defeating the Los Angeles Sparks on July 6.
"We were fed up," Malonga said afterward.

But they came up short yet again — this time falling 92-86 to the Liberty at Barclays Center Wednesday. The Liberty victory pushed the team's win streak to three games.
Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 28 points, eight rebounds, two ****** ists and one block.
And the team's overall effort was enough despite Dominique Malonga's impressive stat line: 31 points, 10 rebounds, three ****** ists, two steals and a block.
Malonga, the second-year star primed to lead Seattle's rebuild, showed why the Storm organization are trusting in her to propel the franchise back to winning basketball.

ZANESVILLE – Efforts to bring the Gus Macker basketball tournament back to Zanesville took a major step forward with the selection of a host site at Ohio University Zanesville/Zane State College and the YMCA of Zanesville, as community partners, sponsors and organizers work toward the event's return in July 2027.
Next, the Gus Macker executive committee will have a 30- to 40-minute site walkthrough in August with facility, campus and concession representatives to review the venue layouts and complete the proposed site plan. That'll include mapping out the areas for the hoops, parking, overflow, and food vendors, added Dominique Proctor, the Gus Macker Zanesville committee's executive chair.
Then, the committee can start working on a final contract with the tournament's headquarters. Discussions are expected to start after Labor Day.

The contract is a three-year agreement with a first-year opt-out, in case 2027's tournament falls short of expectations. Though, a well-attended event could secure two more in 2028 and 2029, the TR previously reported. Another agreement could be looked at after that.

The Kelsey Plum era is over in Los Angeles. The Sparks are sending the five-time All-Star to Phoenix in exchange for Monique Akoa Makani, the Mercury's 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 second-rounder, league sources confirmed to The Athletic. ESPN was first to report.
The Sparks traded the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft (which became All-Star Dominique Malonga) to acquire Plum in the 2025 offseason in an attempt to end their rebuild and get to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. That plan didn't pan out: Los Angeles came up two games short of the postseason in 2025, and Plum's lower leg injury in 2026 dug the Sparks a hole they could not get out of.
At 10-17 and 5 1/2 games out of a playoff spot, Los Angeles is pulling the plug on this season, and that means moving on from Plum, who will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Plum has only played 12 games in 2026, but is second in the league in scoring (23.9 points per game) and sixth in ***** ists (6.4). She is arguably the most efficient No. 1 option as a guard in the league — her field-goal percentage only trails A'ja Wilson among top-10 scorers — and she has also been a secondary (even tertiary) scoring option on a two-time ***** le team in Las Vegas.
As reported by The Athletic, the sense from executives around the league was that Plum wouldn't re-sign in Los Angeles, forcing the Sparks' hand to trade her and recoup some of the value they lost in acquiring the five-time All-Star guard. Even so, there have rarely been trades involving all-WNBA players during the season. The last time it happened was in 2015 when the Chicago Sky dealt Sylvia Fowles to Minnesota. The Lynx ultimately won the championship that season and Fowles was named finals MVP.

Manchester City launched their new away kit on a floating pitch at the picturesque setting of the harbour in Hong Kong.
Phil Foden, Abdukodir Khusanov and Ryan McAidoo were on stage in front of scores of fans before revealing the black and yellow Puma kit, which is finished with a swarm of worker bees - a nod to one of Manchester's most recognisable symbols.
City say the bee signifies the "graft, unity and resilience that define the city" with the kit "reinforcing a shared commitment to the city, its people and the authentic connection between the club and the communities that surround it".
Puma vice president Dominique Gauthier said: "This kit is about giving Manchester City players a shirt that performs at the highest level while carrying real meaning for the city and its fans.

Ahead of the start of regular ticket sales for their first home game, the club communicated the news that their loyal fans are still looking forward to a matchday experience in 3. Liga at Merkur Spiel-Arena.

John Harbaugh coached Lamar Jackson to a pair of MVPs in Baltimore, but the duo couldn't find a way to navigate through the playoffs to a Super Bowl before Harbaugh was dismissed after the 2025 season.
Harbaugh's overall record meant that he only spent a short time out of work before landing as the head coach of the Giants and his chances of finding a way back to the big game will be heavily impacted by his new quarterback. Jaxson Dart showed ability as a runner and a passer in his 12 rookie starts and Harbaugh said on The Dominique Foxworth Show that he sees a chance to do "a lot of the stuff that we did in Baltimore with Lamar" in terms of attacking defenses on the ground and in the air in multiple ways.
"Jaxson's capable of doing a lot of things," Harbaugh said. "Like he can live in a lot of different worlds, football-wise. He can live in a power-running game, obviously, and a power-running game protects the quarterback because you can hand the ball off and get yards and make people defend that and keep them honest. Then, it opens up your play-action passing game. . . . That stuff, we're gonna be in those worlds. But now we can also get in the gun or we can get in the pistol, and we can run RPOs, we can run quarterback-driven runs."
Dart's flashes as a rookie were mitigated by a concussion that kept him out of two games and concussion checks that forced him out of parts of other contests. That's made his ability to stay on the field a question heading into his second season, but Harbaugh downplayed concerns about Dart's style by again citing Jackson.
"You say something like that to Lamar, and he kinda just looks at you like you've got three heads," Harbaugh said. "It's like, 'No, I'm gonna play ball, I'm gonna play ball.' I just knew, I trusted that he was gonna protect himself because he wants to be out there and he wants to play. It's not the type of a sport where — you can't put yourself in bubble wrap."

So we have to have conversations in a reasonable — in a way that respects one another. So, how are we going to go about this? What do you guys think?
“And, really, honestly, Dominique, I didn’t have to do anything. I didn’t have to say anything, really. The players said it. They laid the ground rules down for the guys and decided how it would be approached going forward. So now, when these waves keep coming in from the ocean and crash against our shore, I think we’ll be better prepared for them going forward because we’ll be expecting them. And we’ll be talking about how we’re going to deal with them.”
Perhaps the most critical part to any success for the Giants in Harbaugh’s first season and beyond will be tied to Jaxson Dart’s progression throughout the summer and into the 2026 season. His presence in the spring has garnered headlines on a much wider scale than anticipated, and with that comes the pressure to deliver – both internal, which is always present for Dart, and external from those ready to make a judgment on the Giants’ quarterback after every play.
And it’s already started: the borderline disrespect of Dart’s game with cries of how he has not done enough to celebrate the Knicks’ championship with teammates or appear in Crocs commercials on social media with Cam Skattebo, that he is acting as if he has accomplished more than he has so far and supposedly tearing apart the locker room by veering into the great political divide. That’s all a crock, of course, but perception becomes reality when critics don’t care about taking the time to figure out what’s real and what’s imagined.

The WNBA announced All-Star reserves Tuesday evening, and the Atlanta Dream are the most represented.
Angel Reese and Dream guards Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray are among those voted as reserves by the league’s 15 head coaches. The Dream had no players voted as All-Star starters to the dismay of Reese, who called their exclusion “disrespectful.”
This will be Reese’s third All-Star nod and the fourth for Gray and Howard.
Joining the Dream’s three leading scorers are Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron and forward Kiki Iriafen, Los Angeles Sparks teammates Kelsey Plum and Nneka Ogwumike, Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, New York Liberty forward Jonquel Jones and Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams.

The Bears made official the signings of former UFL players Kaden Davis and Tony Fields II. The team announced the moves Tuesday, along with the corresponding waivers of linebacker Dominique Hampton and kicker Gabriel Plascencia.
Fields played linebacker for the Columbus Aviators this spring, finishing with 77 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack in earning All-UFL honors.
He originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Browns in 2021 and spent five seasons in the league.
In four seasons with the Browns, Fields appeared in 45 games, including 10 starts.
Davis, a receiver and returner, played for the Houston Gamblers and returned 10 kickoffs for 275 yards.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The PWHL’s expansion team in Las Vegas made it official on Monday by naming Kim Weiss as coach.
The 37-year-old Weiss makes the jump to the women’s game after completing her second season as an **** istant with the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles. The team lost Game 7 of the AHL Western Conference finals to Chicago last week.
Weiss becomes the PWHL’s fourth women’s coach entering next season, doubling the league’s total from last season — with Vancouver still having a vacancy. In Colorado, Weiss was the second woman to be a full-time **** istant in the NHL or AHL, joining now-former Seattle Kraken **** istant Jessica Campbell.
She is reunited with Las Vegas general manager Dominique DiDia, as the two were teammates at Trinity College. Weiss eventually became an **** istant coach for the Connecticut-based school’s men’s team — the first woman to do so at the Division III level.
“Throughout her coaching career, Kim has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to develop players, build strong team cultures, and achieve success at the highest levels of the game,” DiDia said. “Her accomplishments across both the NCAA and AHL speak for themselves, and her hockey expertise and communication skills make her one of the most respected leaders in the sport.”
