This is the 33rd UFC appearance for Barboza (24-14), who has competed at 145 and 155 pounds during his 16-year run with the promotion. The Brazilian fan favorite is well-known for his thrilling striking duels and some of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history, but at 40, Barboza could be nearing retirement. He enters tonight's contest on a three-fight losing streak.
Ribovics (15-3) is also known for his barnburner performances, at one point earning three straight Fight of the Night bonuses. The opening Friday night of the high school football season is in the books, and there was no shortage of outstanding games around the state.
Here's a few notes and highlights from some of those games.
Snow Canyon's 64-62 triple-overtime win over Spanish Fork on Friday night was an absolute barn burner — the definition of an instant classic.
"It felt a lot more like a basketball game than a football game, that's for sure," said first-year Snow Canyon coach Zach Tauteoli. "They would take a punch, we'd feel that punch and then kind of punch back, and then we just ended up on our end kind of a little more resilient."
The teams combined for 1,014 yards, most of those through the air — 784.

Italian Luciano Darderi fuelled himself with an expresso shot during a mid-match changeover in a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Nuno Borges on Saturday to reach the Montreal Masters quarter-finals.
It was not the first time Darderi had downed his national rocket fuel to fire up the afterburners in a tight situation on court.
Darderi will bid for the semis against Brandon Nakashima, whose match with Arthur Rinderknech was interrupted for nearly two hours with the final set level at 4-4.
Players were taken off court due to rain and the threat of lightning, returning to finish after almost two hours.
Nakashima withstood a love game from his French opponent but broke serve a game later before finishing a 7-6 (7/4), 5-7, 7-5 victory on his first match point thanks to 22 unforced errors from Rinderknech.

Plenty of NFL owners have sold pieces of their teams, either to individual partners or to pre-approved private equity funds.
The Cowboys haven't, but they also won't close the door on it.
"We wouldn't rule it out, but, you know, we'd also be very particular in who we would bring in as a partner in terms of that," Cowboys executive Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Friday. "But, yes, it was designed when we passed that rule that you could have, you know, private equity involved in the NFL, and you could have minority partners, you know, it made sense for a lot of different reasons, and every owner who chooses to go that path can speak for themselves in terms of why they're doing it, but it does — I think it's a great tool. I think it makes the league stronger personally, and, certainly, it's not something we would ever totally rule out. But I wouldn't say anything's on the front burner, either."
The valuation would surely be massive. They could possibly make upwards of $1.5 billion for only 10 percent of the team. And it wouldn't change anything about their control of the organization.
But it also would result in 10 percent of the future profits going to the partner. Depending on how much the Cowboys are clearing after all expenses, it could be better over the long haul to retain all of the equity — and to keep all of the profits.

Georgia has not been involved in many eye-catching recruiting headlines this cycle, but it is on pace to sign another rock-solid group of prospects this winter.
The Bulldogs won't be in the mix for a top-five finish this time around, but they do have the No. 14 class in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, as of July 31. UGA has 20 total commits in its class, including a pair of five-stars and eight more blue-chippers.
Head coach Kirby Smart and Co. won out for the nation's No. 1 running back in February. McKeesport (Pa.) Five-Star Plus+ RB Kemon Spell backed off his first commitment to Penn State last fall, worked through his process and eventually chose Georgia after an impactful trip to Athens.
$19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage
He remains the top-ranked burner in the cycle and figures to be an instant-impact back for the SEC program in 2027. Denver (N.C.) East Lincoln tight end Jaxon Dollar is the other five-star in the mix thus far.

Recruiting may not be on most people's minds with the college football season set to begin in about five more weeks, but Matt Campbell and his staff don't have the luxury of putting it on the mental back burner. They've done a tremendous job of rebuilding Penn State's 2027 recruiting class, while also keeping their eyes further towards the future.
The Nittany Lions already have a top-three Class of 2028 and now they could be getting their hands on another intriguing prospect from that group. Penn State has been recruiting four-star wide receiver Owen Johnson for much of this year, and in a recent interview with NittanyCentral, he spoke about their chances of landing him.
"Penn State definitely has my attention," is how Johnson began his response when asked about which teams he was focused on. Some of the other schools the team will be battling for Johnson's commitment are Nebraska, Notre Dame, and UCLA, but he confirmed that the Nittany Lions are in his top five.
The team has a serious need for wide receivers, with the position seriously lacking in the next two recruiting classes. They did have one of the best pass catchers in next year's group of prospects, four-star receiver Khalil Taylor, but Penn State was unable to land him a second time.
Perhaps the most important piece of information when it comes to Johnson is that he hails from Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. The Blue and White have had a difficult time keeping recruits in-state, but they have a great opportunity to change their fortunes here. Johnson is clearly keen on playing for the team and becoming one of the crown jewels of a loaded 2028 class — now the onus is on Penn State to make a commitment worth his while.

An apparent knee injury snuffed out whatever magic Conor McGregor planned to rekindle in his first Ultimate Fighting Championship ****** ignment in five years.

Max Holloway was awarded an anticlimactic technical knockout over the SBG Ireland cornerstone in the first round of their UFC 329 headliner on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A disappointed and dejected McGregor (22-7, 10-5 UFC)—who had beaten the Hawaiian by unanimous decision in their first meeting in 2013—bowed out 1:09 into Round 1.

It was essentially over before it began. McGregor appeared to suffer the injury while throwing a jumping round kick inside the first 10 seconds. He collapsed on multiple occasions afterward, unable to put any weight on his right leg while he attempted to engage Holloway (28-9, 24-9 UFC). It soon became clear to all involved that McGregor was compromised to such an extent that he could not move forward with the match.

Meanwhile, former Cage Warriors champion Paddy Pimblett put Benoit St. Denis to sleep with a Peruvian necktie in the first round of their lightweight co-main event. St. Denis (17-4, 9-4 UFC) lost consciousness 52 seconds into Round 1.
Pimblett (24-4, 8-1 UFC) survived the initial burst of offense from the Frenchman and made him pay for an ill-conceived takedown attempt. The Next Generation MMA star zeroed in on St. Denis’ exposed neck, bullied him to the canvas and proceeded to tighten the strings on the necktie. Pimblett then moved to a seated position—with one leg over the back, the other over the head—and maximized torque until the onetime French Special Forces operator lost his grip on reality.

It was the second sub-minute finish for Pimblett in 28 professional appearances.

Further down the main draw, Mario Bautista avenged a January 2019 submission defeat to Cory Sandhagen and laid claim to a unanimous decision over the Elevation Fight Team rep in their three-round bantamweight rematch. All three cageside judges scored it the same: 29-28 for Bautista (18-3, 12-3 UFC).

Sandhagen (18-7, 11-6 UFC) was undone by two key moments. Bautista appeared to damage his left leg with an attempted Suloev stretch kneebar late in the first round and dropped him with a sweeping left hook in the third. The rest of their 15-minute battle was marked by give-and-take action—Sandhagen opened a cut near the MMA Lab export’s right eye in the second round—in which neither man gained a discernible advantage.

Bautista, 33, has won 10 of his past 11 bouts.

Elsewhere, Factory X mainstay Brandon Royval rebounded from back-to-back losses to Joshua Van and Manel Kape, as he dismissed Lone’er Kavanagh with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their flyweight barnburner. Kavanagh (10-2, 3-2 UFC) waved the white flag of surrender 3:40 into Round 3.
Royval (18-9, 8-5 UFC) leaned into his jab and struck for a takedown in the first round, then averted disaster in the second. There, Kavanagh set him on rubber legs with a clean right hand ov

Day two of the Barrett Media Audio Summit was a smashing success. As someone who has attended the sports summits over the years, I thought the retooled approach to this year’s event was a smart pivot. Instead of two days full of content, discussion, and networking, organizers embraced a less-is-more approach. However, one element of this year’s annual gathering of the best in sports media stood out more than anything else. It should have been predictable, but unfortunately, I forgot to ask my AI agent about it.
Woven throughout every conversation was the role AI plays in the industry’s evolving workflow. From sales and marketing to programming, video editing, prep sheets, and even the occasional email, AI surfaced in every panel throughout the day. That’s a far cry from where we were just a couple of years ago, when AI seemed like something off in the distance.
How did we get here so quickly? What happened over the past few years that caused the sports media business to move AI from the back burner to the forefront of nearly every conversation at the Barrett Media Audio Summit?
The answer is actually pretty simple. AI stopped being a futuristic concept and became a practical one because the sports media industry isn’t unlike any other business today.
Sports radio has always embraced tools that create efficiency. We moved from carts to digital automation, from fax machines to email, from tape editing to Adobe Audition, and from physical media kits to digital marketing campaigns. Every technological shift initially produced skepticism before eventually becoming standard operating procedure.

Charlie Ward has built out his second-year Florida A&M men’s basketball roster.
The program announced a slew of signees, nine to be exact, through the high school ranks, junior college, and the NCAA Transfer Portal.
The newcomers will join returners, led by guard Antonio Baker Jr., who averaged 9.9 points per game last season and ended the year on a burner, getting 13.3 points in the final eight games. Others set to stay on The Highest of Seven Hills are 6-foot-11 big men Tuscan Onuoha and potentially Miles Ndalama if granted an NCAA waiver.
FAMU went 14-17 in Ward’s first season as a college head coach. The Heisman Trophy winner and former New York Knicks starting point guard also led the team to an 11-7 record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and reached the league’s tournament semifinals.
Here’s a position-by-position look, including their season averages from last year, for who will be on Ward’s Rattlers for the 2026-2027 season.

Why NFL fans believe they've found a Mike Vrabel burner account that defends Pats coach and Dianna Russini originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini story continues to evolve — around a month after the original Page Six report showing the New England Patriots coach and NFL reporter holding hands at an Arizona hotel, more photos and reports have followed.
The latest development, via TMZ, were photos of a document appearing to show Vrabel and Russini renting a boat together in June 2021, along with viral videos of the two boarding the boat. But some NFL fans also think they found more to the Vrabel-Russini story on Thursday.
One X account with the name "Mike Masters" was speculated as a Vrabel "burner" account, primarily because of how the user has consistently defended the Patriots coach throughout his recent scandal.
Here's why NFL fans think they found Vrabel's burner account on X.

NFL ****** yst says Dolphins rookie WR will be a 'nightmare' for defenses

The Miami Dolphins attacked their wide receiver room this offseason after releasing Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and then trading Jaylen Waddle.
While Miami added a trio of veterans in free agency (Tutu Atwell, Jalen Tolbert and Terrace Marshall Jr.), they left the 2026 NFL draft with three rookies, including Kevin Coleman Jr. in the fifth round.
While Coleman was the third receiver prospect that the Dolphins took in the draft, he can still present problems for opposing defenses.
“You’ve just got to get the ball in his hands; after that, he’s a nightmare,” ESPN's Louis Riddick recently said about Coleman. “He can track the ball, has a quick change of direction and then turns on the afterburners. Look at his open-field running skills. Miami will be very happy when they get Coleman on the field.”
In four collegiate seasons between Jackson State, Louisville, Mississippi State and Missouri, Coleman caught 199 passes for 2,536 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also returned 62 punts and 19 kicks.
