Former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger is not ready to back Kimi Antonelli over George Russell in the ******* le fight, pointing to last season as proof that the championship can quickly swing after Oscar Piastri appeared to be the clear favourite midway through the year.
After 11 races, Russell trails his teammate by 59 points in the Drivers' Championship. While both Mercedes drivers have suffered technical issues throughout the season, the Briton has been hit harder by reliability problems, although the young Italian has also consistently demonstrated superior raw pace and delivered stronger results on a more regular basis.
Speaking to F1.com, Berger said life at a top Formula 1 team always involves facing exceptionally fast teammates, arguing that Russell has simply found himself up against a particularly talented rookie. He described Antonelli as a special talent, but also pointed out that Russell has responded by pushing himself to the limit.
"This is F1. If you are in a top team in F1, you always have to deal with somebody coming in quick. I'm sure Lewis Hamilton also wishes sometimes for somebody other than Charles Leclerc, from a speed point! George had a wake-up call from Antonelli – Antonelli seems to be quite special, no question. For now, Mercedes has no plans to give Kimi Antonelli preferential treatment to help secure his first Formula 1 world championship, despite what happened in the 2025 ******* le battle between the two McLaren drivers and Max Verstappen. The team confirmed that winning the constructors' championship remains its primary target.
For most of the 2025 campaign, McLaren had the fastest car, and the constructors' ******* le was already wrapped up by the Singapore Grand Prix. However, the drivers' ******* le nearly slipped through the team's grasp.

Russell and his squad have been mystified by a lack of top speed relative to team-mate Kimi Antonelli at Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamps. Mercedes' lead racer attempted to tweak his driving style, to no avail, as his troubles were linked to the power unit's software code resulting in an imbalance in energy distribution.

Ferrari president John Elkann has reacted to Charles Leclerc's victory at the 2026 British Grand Prix, which marked the Maranello outfit's 250th grand prix victory.
After starting from second on the grid, Leclerc took the lead at the race start, overtaking polesitter Kimi Antonelli, who slipped to third behind Leclerc's team-mate Lewis Hamilton. After coming out on top during the round of pitstops, Leclerc won the race under safety car conditions.

Hamilton was investigated by the FIA race stewards for allegedly speeding through a yellow-flag zone during the Silverstone race, passing the stranded Audi of Nico Hulkenberg.
Video evidence showed that Hamilton entered the yellow sector in Turn 9 before the yellow flag was displayed and only received a warning on his dashboard at the end of it, while he had also been distracted by the wheel-to-wheel battle with Max Verstappen.
The stewards accepted that the seven-time world champion only had little time to react to the yellows, but as he didn't reduce speed they still handed him a reprimand.
As a result Hamilton retains third place behind his winning team-mate Charles Leclerc and Mercedes' George Russell, with the pair benefitting from a late retirement from championship leader Kimi Antonelli.

As reported by Gazzetta, Okoye is a big F1 fan and is a guest of Pirelli at Silverstone this weekend.
Therefore, the Udinese star was picked by the Italian multinational tyre manufacturer to present Antonelli with the Pirelli Pole Position Award ******* le on Saturday.
