The 2026 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class featured Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, Chamique Holdsclaw, the USA women's 1996 Olympic gold medal squad, Amar'e Stoudemire, Mike D'Antoni (coach, contributor), Mark Few (coach), Doc Rivers and Joey Crawford (referee). A very encouraging start to Jesse Minter's debut season. The offense looked smooth and got the young skill guys active early while the defense completely shut down the Eagles offense. Ja'Kobi Lane, Elijah Sarratt, and Matthew Hibner showed flashes of their potential roles in Declan Doyle's offense. A few UDFA's made strong impressions, with Joe ***** nano being the standout. While you can never glean much from any preseason game, there was a lot to like for the Ravens against the Eagles. Multiple young players impressed, including rookies Vega Ioane, Ja'Kobi Lane, Elijah Sarratt, Mathew Hibner, and Joe ***** nano. The defense was suffocating and nearly pitched a shutout, which makes me even more excited to see what the starting unit can do in Week 1 under Jesse Minter. The only real wart on the night for me was the missed field goal by Tyler Loop. The Dallas Cowboys hoped for many things in their opening preseason contest in Seattle. First and foremost, they wanted to escape the Pacific Northwest without any major injuries. While some of their other goals have been accomplished, they did not escape unscathed.
One of the team's only question marks on offense is who is going to be the primary backup to running back Javonte Williams. Two second-year backs are leading the charge, but Dallas is going to have to hold their breath after one of them came up injured. 2025 seventh-round pick Phil Mafah left the game in the second half and has been ruled out from returning with a chest injury.
The Clemson alum presents a much different style of ball than his counterpart Jaydon Blue. While Blue has the inside track to be the change of pace back with his raw speed and acceleration, Mafah is a powerful back who also flashes some speed. He may be more in line to be a backup in case of injury, but now he's injured himself.
Dallas also has Malik Davis and Israel Abinakanda in the rotation if Mafah is going to miss any significant amount of time.

It's not often you see the losing team have more base hits, draw more walks, and strike out 10 fewer times than the victor, but that is exactly what happened tonight in a 4-3 Rays defeat. Simply put, the Rays had plenty of chances in this game, but left 12 men on base while going 3 for 13 with runners in scoring position while Baltimore had two solo homers by Pete Alonso and Christian Encarnacion-Strand to offset their own nine men left on base tonight.
This game took on a different feel after both teams had wasted their challenges by the 5th inning. The first challenge was lost by the Rays when Junior Caminero challenged a first pitch on the inner black that was confirmed by ABS. That was followed by two challenges lost – one by each team – in one plate appearance. Carlos Narvaez challenged a 2-2 pitch to Cedric Mullins which was uphelp and that was followed by Mullins challenging a 3-2 pitch on the inside black that was indeed a strike. Baltimore's advantage was short-lived when Tyler O'Neill inaccurately challenged the first pitch of the top of the 5th thus leaving both teams without the ability to challenge was was a rather suspect strike zone for the game where several close pitches were called ***** and a few poor ones called strikes as the game went on. All of this is to say that, sometimes, men let their emotions get the better of them and the early challenges, none of which were in big leverage situations.
One particular at bat in the ninth, while not consequential, highlights the risks of burning through the challenges the way it was done. The FC Bayern Frauen kick it off in the women's edition of the DFL-Supercup against familiar foes VfL Wolfsburg. The Bavarians bested the She-Wolves 4-2 in last year's Supercup, and went on to a domestic double with the Bundesliga ****** le as well.

They were joined by the 1996 U.S. Olympic women's basketball team, Chamique Holdsclaw, NBA player Amar'e Stoudemire, longtime NBA official Joey Crawford, NBA coaches Doc Rivers and Mike D'Antoni, and Gonzaga coach Mark Few.
Delle Donne turned her speech into a love letter to the game of basketball with all the ups and downs she faced in her career. But she always kept life in perspective, thanks to her older sister Lizzie, who is blind and deaf.
"She never played in front of thousands of people, never had a standing ovation. never been interviewed after a big win. Yet I've never met anyone stronger," Delle Donne said, choking up. "Thank you all for keeping me going."
Delle Donne won MVP awards in 2015 and 2019, the second of which came when she led the Washington Mystics to their lone WNBA championship. Delle Donne became the first player in league history to shoot more than 50% from the field, 40% from behind the 3-point line and 90% from the free-throw line.

Royal Gold (NASDAQ:RGLD) posted second-quarter 2026 results on August 6, and the numbers show a company operating at a different scale than a year ago. Revenue reached $451 million, operating cash flow hit a record $335 million, and net income landed at $236 million, gains of 115%, 119%, and 79% over the same period last year. Yet management still spent the quarter buying back shares, arguing the market has not caught up to what the portfolio is worth.
The strongest signal in the quarter is diversification. No single royalty or stream contributed more than 13% of revenue, and only two **** ets crossed 10%, a direct result of the 2025 acquisitions management had promised would spread out risk. Adjusted net income came to $218 million, or $2.56 per share, up 41% year-over-year, and executives pointed to gains in GEOs per share, adjusted EBITDA per share, operating cash flow per share, and EPS as proof the 2025 deals are accretive rather than dilutive.
Capital returns backed that up. Royal Gold paid $40 million in dividends at an annualized rate of $1.90 per share, 6% higher than a year earlier, and repurchased 147,000 shares for $30 million during the quarter. At the same time, the company repaid $200 million on its revolver, followed by another $75 million in July, with a further $100 million planned for mid-August, and management expects the balance fully repaid in the fourth quarter. Total available liquidity stood at $1.2 billion at quarter end.
The same quarter that produced record cash flow also produced record costs. Depreciation, depletion, and amortization expense jumped to $96 million from $31 million a year earlier, or $962 per GEO compared with $487 per GEO, driven largely by higher carrying values from the Kansanshi stream and the Sandstorm and Horizon **** ets picked up in 2025. General and administrative expense rose to $13.4 million for the quarter, and the company now expects full-year G&A to land near the top of its $50 million to $60 million guidance range. Interest expense climbed to $10 million from $1.5 million, a byproduct of carrying a larger revolver balance for part of the year.
Part of the headline growth was not repeatable. Royal Gold recognized $22 million of incremental revenue this quarter from an advanced delivery of 5,000 ounces tied to the Relief Canyon settlement, pulling forward 1,175 ounces originally scheduled through 2027 and concentrating them into the first half of 2026. Severe winter weather in Chile also caused temporary disruptions at both Andacollo and Caserones, though neither operator has changed full-year guidance.

UNCASVILLE, CT – The celebration surrounding the careers of Chamique Holdsclaw and Candace Parker as the latest members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame is a welcome reminiscence of Lady Vols basketball incredible history.
It is also, unavoidably, a stark reminder of where the Tennessee is right now.
The Lady Vols recorded the worst winning percentage in program history at 16-14 last season, which ended with an eight-game losing streak. All eight returners entered the transfer portal following Tennessee coach Kim Caldwell's second season, and Caldwell had to rebuild her entire roster.
Holdsclaw, who led the Lady Vols to three straight national championships during her career from 1995-99, was asked for her perspective on the state of the program a day before the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement for the 2026 class on Aug. 15 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

In the clip, the host asked Talarico about his legislative battles with "Christian Nationalists," meaning people who consider America to be an inherently Christian nation.
The portion that went viral recently when Talarico blasted the "most insidious" legislation he fought to stop while serving in Texas government, claiming one bill required schools in the state to teach Bible stories as historical fact. He argued that this amounted to pushing "propaganda" on children and was not just bad for state schools, but for society overall.
"It was a new state curriculum that would teach Christian Bible stories as historical fact, as the only truth to our youngest students, and I mean kindergarten, first graders," he said. "These are kids who aren't able to think for themselves yet. They haven't formed their own worldviews."
