Kevin Dotson landed at No. 5 and Steve Avila checked in at No. 13 on Pro Football Focus' 2026 ranking of the NFL's top 32 guards, giving the Rams one of just a handful of teams with two players in the top 15.
Dotson's case starts in the run game. Since the start of the 2023 season, his 90.9 PFF run-blocking grade ranks third among all guards, trailing only Chicago's Chris Lindstrom and Denver's Quinn Meinerz. He backed that up in pass protection last season, too, posting a 66.8 grade while allowing 22 pressures and three sacks across 17 games.
Avila's climb has been steadier. The 2023 second-round pick posted a career-high 75.0 PFF grade last season, 11th among qualified guards, and set another career mark with a 72.3 run-blocking grade. He allowed just two sacks all season, including the playoffs.
The PFF ranking arrives as something of a rebuttal to how the duo was viewed elsewhere this offseason. Neither made the top 10 of ESPN's annual survey of coaches, executives and scouts, landing only among players "also receiving votes." That snub came despite Dotson finishing with an 86.4 overall PFF grade — third-best among 81 qualified guards — and the Rams' rushing offense dropping from 4.8 yards per carry with him on the field to 4.0 without him after a Week 16 ankle injury. Avila's 76.8 grade, meanwhile, ranked ninth among qualified guards.
Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame took a different view, naming Dotson and Avila the NFL's third-best guard tandem and pointing to the interior line as a driving reason the Rams enter the season as Super Bowl favorites.

In the aftermath of a 3-0 win over the Rangers on Wednesday evening, Ryan Vilade said he did not want to face Bryan Baker. The Rays' infielder/outfielder shares a clubhouse with the righthanded closer, so stepping into the batter's box against Baker is not a concern. For Rays' opponents, facing Baker has been a nightmare in 2026.
"To see 'Big Bake' running in from the bullpen with the lights (flashing on and off) and (music) playing, it gets everyone fired up," said Vilade, whose exceptional work (9 HR, 35 RBI, .804 OPS) in a part-time role has often aided the Rays in getting to their closer. "I'm glad he's on our team and whenever we get to the ninth with him on the ***** p, we feel pretty good."
For good reason. The 6-foot-6 Baker nailed down his 30th save of the season Thursday afternoon in the series finale with Texas to tie with Cleveland's Cade Smith for the MLB lead. The 31-year-old heads into a weekend series versus the visiting White Sox having converted 19 straight save opportunities, a stretch that began May 17. During that span, which totals 24 appearances, Baker has allowed one run. That was a solo homer to Kansas City's Josh Rojas on June 24, an outing in which Baker shrugged it off to record his 20th save.
"I have been feeding off the catchers and going for what they see and what they've kind of seen the whole game and let the defenders work behind me," said Baker, when asked about the run he is on. "It's been a lot more (pitching to) contact lately, which as long as there's zeros are on board, I'm good."

According to a report RTI Esporte, Bayern Munich has interest in Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo, but it could be difficult to land the 21-year-old:
Gabriel Bontempo’s future may lie far from Vila Belmiro. One of the top talents to emerge from Santos in recent years, the midfielder has caught the eye of Bayern Munich, which is preparing a bid to sign him during this transfer window.

The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for their second uniform release of the offseason after making subtle tweaks to their current set earlier this spring. On Thursday night at a special event for season ticket members, they'll reveal two new alternate sets that will be worn this season.
Rams players got a sneak peek at the two new alternates and they all seem to love them. The Rams have given no hints about what the uniforms will look like, but a yellow and blue jersey appeared to have leaked recently. There are also rumors that the other will be a navy and white throwback.
Based on this video, we can tell at least one of the alternates will be getting a new helmet. Matthew Stafford said "the helmet's sweet" when he saw the uniforms, so clearly it's something different.
Kam Curl also said, "I've been waiting on this to come back. I've been waiting on this." Might he be talking about a navy and white throwback?

His run-blocking was a strength, and the Rams' offense visibly missed him when a Week 16 ankle injury sidelined him for three-plus games — Los Angeles averaged 4.8 yards per carry with Dotson on the field compared to 4.0 without him. He was also elite at the end of games.
Avila, working at left guard, posted a career-high 76.8 overall PFF grade, ninth among qualified guards, to go with a 74.1 run-blocking grade that ranked 11th at the position. He allowed 14 total pressures on the season — including one sack and five quarterback hits — while being flagged for just one penalty across 835 snaps, marking his most efficient pass-blocking season since entering the league as a 2023 second-round pick out of TCU.
Together, Dotson and Avila give the Rams one of the more productive if unheralded guard tandems in the league, even without a top-10 nod from evaluators. Both are entering the final years of their respective contracts in 2026, setting up a significant offseason decision for Los Angeles.

Sometimes, one small play in a game ends up ruining it. When Adley Rutschman didn't challenge a pitch in the eighth inning that was called a ball, I thought that was the small ruining play. The batter went on to homer. The game was tied, and I **** umed the Orioles would soon fall behind. But that didn't happen! Instead, the stage was set for Samuel Basallo to come along and serve up some heroics. He did just that, with a home run to put the Orioles ahead and give them a 5-3 lead to start their series with the Kansas City Royals.
The Orioles started scoring early but were held to just three runs for most of the game. They got the scoring started in the second inning with a singles party. Dylan Beavers, Blaze Alexander, Jackson Holliday, and Gunnar Henderson all singled. Beavers and Alexander came in to score on hits from Holliday and Henderson. It was a nice start against Royals' starter Luinder Avila, who allowed his share of baserunners in his five innings pitched.
Taylor Ward led off the third inning with a single, but was thrown out trying to steal second base with Pete Alonso at the plate. Ward got a good job and could have beaten the throw, but appeared to try the swim move to avoid the tag. Instead, he avoided the bag just long enough to get tagged out. Not great, Taylor! Alonso walked not long after, which made it seem even dumber. They did not score.
The Orioles had just one baserunner in the fourth inning, but it was a Blaze Alexander bomb to put the team up 3-0. It was already Alexander's second hit of the game and he played good defense as well.
Unfortunately, the Orioles did not score again off Avila. They had two more baserunners in the fifth but couldn't capitalize, and Avila left the game after five innings. The Royals' bullpen held strong until they didn't, but more on that later.

The Royals fell 5-3 after another very Luinder Avila start and one too many trips to the bullpen. Matt Strahm gave up the final blow, a two-run home run to Samuel Basallo. Before that, it was a pretty close game.
As noted above, Luinder Avila got the start in this one for KC. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 runs with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks. It was a real grind for Avila as it seemed like he was always pitching with a full count even with only the 3 walks. That meant it took him 96 pitches to get through those 5 innings.
Avila gave up two of the runs with two outs in the second inning. The Royals managed to tie it in the fourth thanks to a Michael Massey walk (he's been doing that a lot lately) and a Josh Rojas double. But before that, Jac Caglianone smoked his first home run since that two-home run game in Tampa Bay almost two weeks ago.
Avila got Blaze Alexander down 0-2 with one out in the bottom of the inning, which caused the booth to praise him for his good work following the offense tying the game. He promptly hung a slider that went a long way. The score remained 3-2 until the eighth inning, with Steven Cruz pitching a clean sixth with a strikeout. Daniel Lynch IV did the same in the seventh.
In the top of the eighth, Isaac Collins led off the inning with a home run to dead center. Which I wasn't entirely sure he could do.

The Los Angeles Rams have been building their offensive line for some time, with the 2025 edition being the best unit the team has had since their victory in Super Bowl LVI. The Rams have gone about building their line in a unique way. While most other NFL teams have built theirs through expensive signings and top draft selections, the Rams have developed and acquired overlooked talent, giving them a platform to emphasize their strong suits.
As a result, Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame named Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson as the third-best offensive guard duo in the NFL.
"The Rams are the overwhelming favorite to not only reach but win the Super Bowl, and the power on their offensive interior is one reason why," wrote Verderame.
"In Avila, Los Angeles found a gem in the second round of the 2023 draft. Initially, Avila went from guard to center (his collegiate position) before sticking at guard in ’25 after the trade of Jonah Jackson to the Bears. Since making the transition, Avila has become one of the league’s top linemen regardless of position, starting 40 games over his three-year career. Last season, he allowed only two sacks and six quarterback hits.
"As for Dotson, he was a middling player in Pittsburgh before blossoming into a star with the Rams. Since coming to Los Angeles before the 2023 season, Dotson has played in 45 games, anchoring the line in front of MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford. If he’s allowed to hit free agency next winter, the 29-year-old is in line for a major payday."

Chris Brown has been directed to pay his housekeeper $13 million after she was mauled by his 200- pound dog while at his $6 million California home.
A jury ruled that the 37-year-old "Yo" hitmaker, who has previously stated he has a net worth of $100 million, must pay $12.9 million in damages to Maria Avila, who was brutally attacked by Hades, Brown's 200-lb Caucasian shepherd, whom he used as a guard dog.
Avila claimed she was left with several serious injuries following the incident, which took place in 2020 at Brown's Tarzana, CA, property.
She recounted the horrific event in court, telling the jury that she had been taking the trash out at the property when she was attacked by the dog. She said Hades tore "large chunks of skin" from her body, causing significant injuries to her arm and her face that required several sutures and skin grafts.
Avila also claimed that she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and nerve damage which has made it difficult for her to work.

Chris Brown was dealt a massive blow after losing a civil case stemming from a dog attack that occurred at his California home in December 2020. Nearly five years after the lawsuit was filed, the singer was ordered to pay $13 million in damages to his former housekeeper, who suffered severe injuries in the incident.
As that legal battle comes to a close, Brown is now preparing for a criminal trial in London, where he faces charges related to an alleged ******* ault.
On June 30, a California jury reached a verdict in a civil case against Chris Brown. In 2021, the singer's former housekeeper, Maria Avila, filed a lawsuit claiming that Brown's negligence led to a dog attack that left her disfigured.
In her court testimony, Maria told the jury that she feared for her life during the attack. "First he attacked this part of my face, and then he grabbed my arm, and he dragged me… He bit a part of my arm, and he dragged me some distance, but I don't know the distance," she said.
The housekeeper added that she saw Brown after she was attacked, but he didn't make a 911 call. Instead, he asked his team to do it.

June 25 (Reuters) - Micron Technology edged past the market valuation ‌of Meta Platforms and briefly ‌Tesla's for the first time on Thursday, after the memory chipmaker's solid forecast helped extend its AI-driven ascent.
The company's shares were last up 18.4% ‌at $1,236, giving ⁠it a market capitalization of $1.398 trillion, compared with Meta's $1.392 ⁠trillion. Tesla had a market value stood of $1.4 trillion.
Micron's fourth-quarter revenue and profit forecasts on Wednesday helped shares ‌reverse a recent slump, with the company disclosing its customers had committed $22 billion to lock in supplies of memory chips.
The chip company topped $1 ‌trillion in market value on May 26, following the entry of South ‌Korea's Samsung Electronics into the club, as memory chipmakers benefit from investor appetite for beneficiaries of Big Tech's ‌mega AI spending plans.

All of them were backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in what was considered a major test of his political influence and the strength of the city's progressive movement overall.
"We are showing there is a new path for politics in our city and in our country," Mamdani said. "We are showing that last June, a year ago tomorrow, was not an anomaly. It was not the end. It was the beginning."
However, some in the Democratic Party believe success of the left could bring the party down.
