BEREA, Ohio — Before the Buffalo Bills took the field for a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns, Joe Brady took a step back from his comments earlier in training camp.
Before the Bills left St. John Fisher University, Brady said he hated in-practice fights. Then he proceeded to praise his rookies for being willing to scrap and stand up for themselves during practices.
Brady said again he didn't want to see any fights with the Browns. And then he added another "but."
"There's got to be an accountability and a discipline to what we do," Brady said. "But I also want the guys to have a mindset and a personality while they're out there."
It's obvious Brady is willing to have players toe the line far more than Sean McDermott did. Brady hasn't condoned dirty play, but he's not going to discipline players for a shoving match or reprimand players for chirping.

The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints could not seem to stop fighting one another during their scrimmage on Tuesday, and now they are paying for it.
The NFL announced on Thursday that Dallas and New Orleans have each been fined $500,000 for the "actions" that took place. This is obviously not a good look for anyone involved.
It was documented as the scrimmage wore on how the Cowboys and Saints simply could not stop fighting each other. There was never any specific culprit named from the "action", but Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected in terms of transactional outcomes.
Brian Schottenheimer has said at many turns that the Cowboys need to be more disciplined this season, and this is certainly a step backwards in that effort. Obviously this was not an actual game and things can be said about who started what, but the facts are now that Dallas has literally been fined for improper activity of this sort.
Hopefully it is a learning opportunity moving forward.

Performance outperformance was driven by a disciplined focus on price and margin over sales volume, particularly within the luxury move-up segment which represents 61% of revenue.
Management attributes the resilience of their demand to an affluent customer base characterized by high incomes, substantial home equity, and lower sensitivity to mortgage rate fluctuations.
The company successfully reduced finished spec inventory to 1.9 homes per community, prioritizing early-cycle sales to maximize personalization opportunities and margin-accretive design studio upgrades.
Strategic community count growth of 8% to 10% served as a primary volume driver, offsetting a broader sales environment weighed down by low consumer confidence and elevated rates.

The San Francisco 49ers completed a joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers at The Bolt, Los Angeles' practice facility in El Segundo, California on Tuesday.
While the two teams were able to get through the session without skirmishes or fights, that wasn't the case last week when San Francisco held a joint practice with the Tennessee ***** ans at the 49ers' SAP Performance Facility.
Local reporters asked 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan why this practice was more tame, and he took it as an opportunity to take a hilarious shot at former 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is now the head coach in Tennessee.
"No, their head coach had more discipline than Tennessee's," Shanahan said with a smile. "No, I'm just joking. A few things started early in the Tennessee practice, which when that happens, then everything just gets escalated throughout the rest of the day. I wasn't on both sides, but nothing happened early, and usually when nothing happens early, nothing happens late."
Shanahan and Saleh clearly have a great relationship, where they can throw these shots at each other and laugh about it. It's also notable that former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is the Chargers head coach now.

There was a lot to like about Hibernian's performance last week in North Macedonia.
Playing on a difficult surface in a hot and stifling atmosphere, they rarely looked in trouble and, when Shkendija did press late on, the defence stood strong.
The tie could easily have gone the other way, but the discipline and spirit shown by everyone on the pitch were a joy to behold.
Scottish clubs have often struggled after returning from a demanding European trip, but Hibs got the job done against Partick Thistle to maintain their pursuit of League Cup silverware.
Now it is on to another European encounter, where Gent await in Belgium.

Management characterized 2026 as a transition year focused on disciplined execution and tighter prioritization to build a foundation for long-term growth.
Platform revenue growth of 19% was driven by a resilient global offering and a temporary tailwind from Clearit customs refund activity following tariff policy changes.
Solutions revenue declined 4% due to identified execution gaps in building recurring revenue streams and pricing pressure on renewals.
Transaction growth of 15% was impacted by Middle East conflict disruptions; however, excluding affected routes, growth remained within the long-term target of 20% to 30%.

On August 6, Cable One (NYSE:CABO) walked investors through a quarter that reads like two different companies. Residential broadband customers kept leaving, yet management pointed to improving connect trends, rising average revenue per user, and an aggressive debt paydown as signs the business is stabilizing underneath the subscriber losses. The result is a report that gives both the bulls and the bears real ammunition.
Cable One's acquisition numbers moved in the right direction in the second quarter. Connect activity improved sequentially from the first quarter and grew in each month of Q2, and door-to-door sales have more than doubled as a share of quarterly connects over the past year. Residential broadband ARPU also rose sequentially, lifted by promotional roll-offs, changes to the AutoPay Plus program, and customers adding higher-value products. Essentially all of Cable One's network can already deliver gigabit speeds, and the company expects most customers on multi-gig infrastructure by year-end, upgrades it credits to disciplined investment rather than new capital spending.
Business services found firmer ground too, with enterprise, wholesale, and carrier offerings benefiting from long-term contracts and recurring revenue, and Cable One rounded out that lineup with a new unified communications product called UCaaS. Underneath all of it, the company cut its debt balances by $63 million in the quarter, close to $60 million of that through voluntary repurchases at a discount, pushing year-to-date debt reduction to nearly $130 million with $700 million still undrawn on its revolver.
The subscriber numbers remain the core problem. Cable One lost 17,000 residential broadband customers in the second quarter as elevated churn persisted, and residential data revenue fell 7.3% year-over-year on a 6.6% drop in subscribers even as ARPU held roughly flat. Total revenue slid to $348.9 million from $381.1 million a year earlier, and the SMB broadband business stayed under pressure while business data revenue fell 6.6% year over year, partly reflecting tower ****** ets the company sold earlier in the year.
Profitability moved the wrong way as well. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $173.5 million, or 49.7% of revenue, down from 53.3% of revenue a year earlier, while capital expenditures climbed to $74 million, up $5.6 million year-over-year. That combination pushed adjusted EBITDA less capex down to $99.5 million from $134.8 million a year ago. Cable One also booked non-cash impairment charges tied to its franchise agreements, goodwill, and its MBI investment, and net leverage stood at 4.2 times against a gross debt load of $3.06 billion, as management flagged continued competitive intensity in fiber overbuild markets.

After missing the entire series against the San Francisco Giants and the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Colorado Rockies officially placed Hunter Goodman on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder strain, retroactive to August 15.
Goodman, 26, played the entire series in Arizona last week, catching the first two games before serving as the designated hitter in the third game. During the series, he went 1-for-9, with the lone hit being a triple. He was initially in the lineup in three of the last four games but was scratched hours before first pitch each time.
The two-time All-Star catcher has had a prolific year at the plate as a key run-producer in the Rockies lineup. Entering play on Monday, Goodman is batting .251/.320/.541 with 34 home runs and 69 RBI. In his absence, the Rockies have utilized Brett Sullivan, who has batted .316 (6-for-19) with three home runs and eight RBIs during the last road trip.
In a corresponding move, the Rockies have recalled Braxton Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque. Fulford carries a .177/.254/.290 slash with one home run and seven RBI on the season in 40 games with the Rockies. During his time with Albuquerque, Fulford is batting .270/.399/.484 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 35 games. His numbers have been excellent during his time in the Pacific Coast League, but the hit tool and plate discipline haven't quite translated in his limited big league action.

Cramer predicts Micron (MU) can double again, citing AI-driven demand and roughly $100 billion in minimum-price contracts as evidence of disciplined supply.
SanDisk (SNDK) has surged 653% year to date as memory makers collectively channel $25 billion in buybacks rather than funding new production capacity.
Act now: the ***** yst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Micron Technology didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.
Jim Cramer used his Monday CNBC segment to make an aggressive call on the year's most explosive corner of the market: memory and storage. "Sometimes the opportunity is too great and you can't afford not to take it." He paired that framing with a specific prediction on Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU): "I think Micron can double again before the boom comes to an end, ***** uming there's no data center slowdown." That conditional matters.
Cramer's timing view is that the group has more room to run. "While I acknowledge that I am not early, I do not think I am late." The Monday close explains the hesitation. SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) finished at $1,786.85, up 8.88% Monday, up 652.74% year to date, and up 44.34% over the past week. Seagate Technology (NASDAQ:STX) closed at $994.79, up 2.19% Monday, up 262.15% year to date, and up 24.20% over the past week. Micron closed at $1,011.75, up 4.13% Monday, up 254.71% year to date, and up 17.51% over the past week. Western Digital (NASDAQ:WDC) closed at $536.01, up 5.35% Monday, up 211.39% year to date, and up 22.28% over the past week.

On August 7, AdvanSix (NYSE:ASIX) reported second-quarter sales of $421 million, up about 3% from a year earlier, while adjusted EBITDA fell $24 million to $32 million and adjusted EPS dropped $1.50 to $0.19. Behind those numbers sits a story of two forces pulling in opposite directions: a $72 million year-over-year jump in raw material costs, and a fertilizer season where farmers spent less than the company expected. What stands out is how completely AdvanSix priced its way through the cost spike, even as volume told a rougher story.
The quarter's 3% sales growth broke down into 18% favorable pricing against a 15% volume decline. Raw material pass-through pricing rose 13% as benzene and propylene costs climbed, while market-based pricing improved 5%, largely on higher plant nutrient pricing tied to sulfur input costs. That combination fully offset the $72 million raw material headwind for the quarter, and the swing looked even sharper sequentially: a $10 million net price/cost headwind in the first quarter flipped into a $39 million tailwind in the second. AdvanSix also closed out the full fertilizer year near a record for domestic granular ammonium sulfate volume, supported by progress toward a 75% ammonium sulfate granular conversion mix, with its sustained growth program generating returns above 30%.
Looking ahead, the company plans to grow ammonia sales volume 30% in 2026 against 2025's already record year, and it is applying for a USDA grant to expand ammonia capacity further. Management also pointed to a stronger cash flow picture in the back half of 2026, citing a lower capital spending run rate, working capital tailwinds from the fourth quarter fertilizer pre-buy program, and 45Q carbon capture tax credits.
The same quarter that showed pricing discipline also showed real demand strain. Plant nutrient volume came in below expectations as rising grower input costs met steady, lower crop and grain prices, squeezing farmer profitability enough to cut overall fertilizer consumption and drive a $17 million unfavorable volume impact. A planned ammonia plant turnaround, shifted into the quarter to align with a supplier's pipeline inspection, added another $4 million operational hit. Sulfur costs have been a bigger problem still. The Tampa sulfur marker closed at a record $705 per long ton in the third quarter, up from $655 in the second, and AdvanSix estimates every $100 per long ton move costs it roughly $35 million a year.

Amy Hunt's expression was equal parts joy and amazement as she crossed the line for the last time at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium, before holding up four fingers to the camera as the realisation of what she had achieved dawned on her.
The 24-year-old made history as the first to win four golds in the 92-year history of the European Championships, completing the individual 100m and 200m double before winning both the women's 4x100m relay and the experimental new mixed 4x100m relay.
The latter two victories came alongside Dina Asher-Smith, newly crowned the most decorated athlete of all time at European level. The first two wins were against her – the baton (literally) passing from one British sprinting great to who it is hoped will be the next.
Hunt made no secret of her drive to win that unprecedented set of four golds, freely saying "I'm looking to be iconic" before her bid for history. She is a charismatic and engaging personality, a sprinter with a tendency towards the showmanlike, roaring "Are you not entertained?" in glee as she sealed the individual sprint double.
That showmanship is offset by a fierce work ethic, evident in her first-class degree from Cambridge as much as in her work on the track. She said this week: "I'm just so proud of myself and the way I've handled this week – the emotions, the recovery and being strict and staying disciplined after all the highs. I've stayed true to myself and true to the job I came out here to do."

Bayern Munich is not perfect when it comes to financial decision-making. The club has made expensive transfers, handed out massive contract extensions and, at times, allowed its fixed-term deposit reserves to shrink considerably per Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Mano Bonk (as captured by iMiaSanMia_GER).
What might separate Bayern Munich from many of its European competitors, however, is what happens when the club recognizes that its spending trajectory could become a problem. Simply put, Bayern Munich does not double-down — it changes course.
According to Tz, that is exactly what happened after several expensive transfers and contract extensions significantly reduced Bayern Munich's fixed-term deposit account. Rather than continuing to spend at the same pace, the club's decision-makers embarked on a strict austerity course.
It is debatable on just how much the reserves were hurting (also, do not forget that Bayern Munich is rumored to have another reserve it can call upon as well), but certainly it is possible that some deals strained the club financially.
That is an important part to all of this, though, is understanding how Bayern Munich operates financially. The club is willing to spend when it believes an investment makes sense, but it is also willing to alter plans when the numbers start pointing in the wrong direction. That discipline is particularly important now because Bayern Munich is entering a period of significant investment.

Angel Reese was ice cold to start Sunday night against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Then she got hot, and she made sure everyone knew exactly how she felt about it.
Reese missed her first six shots and looked lost in the paint through most of the first quarter. But she flipped the switch late in the second, helping fuel a run that pushed Atlanta ahead at the half. During her live halftime interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe, Reese let an expletive slip on national television, and the network did not cut away in time.
"I was playing like s— in the beginning, but it's a game of runs," Reese said. "You gotta put that in your back pocket just because you know you have teammates that have your back."
The comment aired uncensored, and clips spread across social media within minutes. Fans did not go easy on her.
"How are they gonna allow her to curse on TV? There are kids watching this, fine her," one fan wrote, part of a wave of replies that ranged from mild annoyance to calls for league discipline.

How does a University of Wisconsin grad from Illinois, who spent a huge chunk of his coaching life in Ohio, end up looking like the next big thing coach at a place like San Diego State?

And how does he do it by going against what made him a hot name in the first place?

Lewis didn't do much as a tight end for the Badgers, but he quickly grew into a rising star coach with an offensive style that went fast, fast, fast.
At just 31, he took over a woeful Kent State program and turned it into a winner with a bowl victory in 2019. His offense went 1000 miles per hour, made everyone adjust, and it was what Deion Sanders wanted at Colorado.

Lewis was in Boulder for just one season, left to become the head coach at San Diego State, and the results weren't great in a 3-9 season. Last year, though, his offense was okay, but the defense was one of the best in the nation.

Now, at 40, he's one more great season away from getting a long look from the big programs. Here's our interview with the Aztec head coach going into the 2026 season.
– 2026 San Diego State Preview
CFN: How outside of the box is San Diego State football-wise compared to Wisconsin, Kent State, and everywhere else you've been?

Sean Lewis: It was certainly different.

Yeah, I mean, it's funny. The first year, you think it's going to be wildly different and probably try to be more West Coast than Midwest in some ways, and then you realize that, no, we all do the same thing. Like, these guys just need discipline, some structure, and be good to go.
You, the FlashFast-turned-AztecFast offensive coach – where did that defense come from last year? (The Aztecs finished sixth in the nation in scoring defense and 11th in total defense, but those numbers are a bit skewed with almost all of its stars gone before the wild bowl loss to North Texas.)

It's San Diego, you think, groovy and surfers, but Rocky Long had some amazing defenses in his era. And there's what (Brian) Dutcher does with the hoops side – they're at a whole other level. This is a hard-nosed place. I think that's what we are; it's something we learned, and it's kind of this double-edged sword.

You can recruit anywhere because of how amazing this place is. But you better make sure the person you're bringing in is wired the right way so that they're not distracted by the temptations. And so having a hard-nosed, focused individual is really important to us.

Having great discipline, being a physical team, and doing hard things in the offseason the way that we do does have a balance. This past Friday we went to the beach – we always do the things San Diego has to offer to balance out the hard stuff, but I think how we go about it to do things in a way that's uniquely special.

And then the individuals that we get to rub shoulders with are also very unique. So, yeah, it's a special place.
At the time, it was easy to see exactly why you were the hire. New stadium, new developments, new plan to make this San Diego's

Lens stunned Paris Saint-Germain with a 1-0 victory in the Trophée des Champions, securing their first silverware of the new domestic campaign despite playing much of the contest with 10 men.
PSG started on the front foot and controlled the ball, but Lens gradually grew into the contest. The hosts then struck against the run of play in the 32nd minute, with Florian Thauvin arriving at the far post to convert Matthieu Udol's delivery.
Lens' advantage was short on numbers, however, as Kyllian Antonio was dismissed six minutes before the interval for a dangerous challenge on Maghnes Akliouche. PSG almost took advantage immediately, but Désiré Doué saw his effort come back off the crossbar.
Luis Enrique's side continued to dominate possession after the restart but struggled to turn it into clear openings. Ousmane Dembélé tested Robin Risser, while Nuno Mendes also went close from distance as Lens remained disciplined.
The Parisians' hopes of finding a late leveller suffered another blow when Mendes was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident involving Michal Skoras in the closing stages.

India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel revealed that the visitors had a clear plan to score quickly but sensibly on the rain-affected second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. India eventually ended the day at 460/9, with Kuldeep Yadav unbeaten on 12 and Prasidh Krishna on 1.
Jurel walked in after India had already lost KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant but played an attacking knock to keep the momentum going. The right-hander struck 51 off 68 deliveries, including four fours and a six. He added a crucial 55-run partnership with Manav Suthar, helping India cross the 400-run mark.

"There was a plan to score runs briskly, but sensibly. We weren't looking to go bonkers from ball one, but there was a plan," Jurel said during the post-match press conference.

The India batter also revealed that his previous experience of playing in Sri Lanka with India A helped him understand the conditions and approach the innings with confidence.

"I know conditions here, having played for India A here. I was under no pressure, it's a privilege to play for India," Jurel added.

Jurel was given a reprieve on 29 when Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva dropped a difficult chance at first slip. However, the captain later made amends by taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Jurel off Prabath Jayasuriya.
The standout performer for India was Devdutt Padikkal, who continued his sensational form from Day 1 to score a magnificent 167 off 230 ******* . Padikkal's innings included 15 fours and a six, and he became only the third Indian batter to score 150 or more against Sri Lanka from the No. 3 position, joining Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Jurel was full of praise for his teammate and pointed out that Padikkal has consistently delivered whenever opportunities have come his way.

"Devdutt scores whenever he gets a chance," Dhruv Jurel said.

Padikkal's dismissal eventually triggered another phase of Sri Lankan pressure, with Prabath Jayasuriya finishing with 4/109 and Keshara Nuwantha taking 3/175.
Despite India's imposing total, Jurel knows the job is far from finished. The wicketkeeper-batter stressed that India's bowlers will need to maintain discipline and be prepared for long spells when Sri Lanka begin their first innings.

"We need to bowl long spells here and be consistent with lengths. We need to take 20 wickets," he said.

The second day was heavily disrupted by rain, with the morning session completely washed out before play finally resumed at 2:35 PM local time. India began the day at 288/2 and lost seven wickets for 172 runs, but still managed to build a formidable first-innings total. KL Rahul scored 82 after returning to the crease following cramps on Day 1, while Rishabh Pant made 39 and Ravindra Jadeja contributed 13.

Bangladesh produced a historic performance in Darwin, defeating Australia by nine wickets in the first Test to secure their first-ever Test victory on Australian soil. The defeat brought Australia's long run of consistency under scrutiny, but Steve Smith was quick to acknowledge Bangladesh's superior performance while insisting that one poor Test does not change Australia's status as the world's top-ranked Test side.

"Pretty simple: we were outplayed. I thought Bangladesh bowled really well the first morning, really disciplined. Our batters probably weren't disciplined enough," Smith said after the defeat, as quoted by The Daily Star.
Australia struggled with the bat across both innings. After being bowled out for 198 in their first innings, they were forced to concede a massive 228-run lead after Bangladesh piled up 426. Smith, who scored 71 in the first innings, admitted that Australia failed to capitalise when their batters got starts.

"They got too many in front, and we weren't able to catch it up yesterday on what was a pretty decent wicket to bat on. A couple of us got starts and didn't go on with it. Greeny, I thought, played really nicely to get a hundred, but he didn't have any partners to go with him," he said.

Cameron Green provided Australia with some resistance in the second innings, scoring a fighting 104, but the hosts were eventually dismissed for 284. Bangladesh were left with only 57 runs to chase for victory.
Despite the heavy defeat, Smith backed Australia to bounce back and urged the team not to overreact to what he described as a poor week.

"I hope it's one bad week. We're the number one team for a reason. We've played really good, consistent cricket over a long period of time, and this week was a bit of a blip," Smith said.

The experienced batter also gave full credit to Bangladesh for their performance throughout the four-day contest.

"We could have done things a lot better, but credit goes to them for the way they played throughout these last four days," he added.
Australia were bowled out for 198 after Hasan Mahmud's stunning 6/55, before Bangladesh piled on 426, led by centuries from Tanzid Hasan and strong knocks from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Josh Hazlewood took six wickets and reached 300 Test wickets.

Cameron Green's 104 helped Australia fight back in the second innings, but Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 5/66 and Hasan Mahmud's three wickets restricted them to 284.

Andoni Iraola and his training staff were all present on the touchline which was wonderful to see knowing that the main event at Anfield was soon approaching. There were even a handful of senior players watching from the balcony and I'll note that only Milos Kerkez and Dominik Szoboszlai stayed until the end.
I'm going to start by mentioning new signing Victor Munoz, this kid has pace to burn and is almost brutally direct. There are no Rio Ngumoha step overs but raw power and determination as well some nice switches of direction to throw the shadowing defenders off balance. Munoz also showed his ability with both feet in delivering good crosses and was Liverpool's best attacking outlet.
The other starting winger was Harvey Elliott, a term that should be loosely used in describing his wide play because despite Iraola's vocal instructions for Elliott to stay out wide he ignored him and continued to drift infield seeking the ball. This caused center forward Chiesa to have to go out wide on the right and leaving us with no focal point of attack. I really feel for Elliott after the way his past two seasons have gone but he needed to shake that all off yet it seems he is either vastly shot of confidence or he is trying too hard to be involved to the point he lacks discipline and broke the structure Iraola wanted.
The only other player I really feel is worth mentioning is Trey Nyoni who played the full 70 minutes and was vocally commanding at times during the second half as well positionally disciplined with good breaking up of play and forward passing. Very impressive for a young player who seems to have decided this is going to be his season to prove his worth and has given everything.
Beyond these observations Alexis Mac Allister played around sixty minutes and Wataru Endo played the full match as a center back with none of the senior center backs involved so we should see both new signings Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo get some playing time in the real friendly later.

Australia captain Pat ***** mins admitted his side were outplayed in all departments after Bangladesh completed a historic nine-wicket victory in the first Test at Darwin's Marrara Oval on Sunday.

The defeat gave Bangladesh their first Test win on Australian soil and only their second victory over Australia, following their maiden triumph in Dhaka in 2017.

Cummins pointed to Australia's first-innings performance as the key turning point, conceding that his side needed to find a way to bat for longer after Bangladesh's bowlers made early inroads.

"Probably that day one. You know, I thought our preparation was pretty much spot on. I thought it was excellent. So, no excuses. They played really well. I thought the day one wicket was doing a little bit early, but obviously got to try and find a way to bat a little bit longer than we did, and then, just couldn't penetrate with the ball," ***** mins said after the match.

Australia were dismissed for 198 in their first innings after ***** mins won the toss and elected to bat. Bangladesh responded with 426, taking a commanding 228-run lead that ultimately proved decisive.

The hosts showed more resistance in their second innings, reaching 284, with Cameron Green scoring a century. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz's five-wicket haul helped Bangladesh restrict Australia's lead to just 56 runs before the visitors chased down the target in 14.2 overs.

Cummins acknowledged that Bangladesh maintained control once they had established their advantage.

"Yeah, they did. I think they outplayed us in all facets, really. I thought they were really patient and quite disciplined. And, yeah, once we were behind, it was really hard to get back," he said.

The Australian captain also admitted that the team's batting performances could come under scrutiny before the second Test in Mackay, Queensland, beginning on August 22.

"I think every time there's a game like this, you always kind of look at your match-ups and your make-up of the team for the next one. But, we only just finished, so we'll have a think about it. We're pretty good at bouncing back, so no doubt the batters and every group will get together and have a good think about this one and where we can improve," ***** mins said.

While Australia's batting came under pressure, ***** mins praised Josh Hazlewood for reaching the milestone of 300 Test wickets. Hazlewood finished with six wickets across Bangladesh's two innings.

"Josh, he hasn't had a great run for injuries the last couple of years, but he's one of the hardest workers and just showed his class. And, you know, didn't have too much in it, seam-wise, still picking up six really important wickets. So he was fantastic," ***** mins said.

He also singled out Green, whose 104 was his third Test century and first in Australia. The allrounder spent 201 ***** at the crease and combined with Australia's lower order to prevent Bangladesh from winning by an innings.

Newcastle United have moved back towards Joao Palhinha as they continue their search for midfield experience, with TeamTalk reporting that Bayern Munich's stance has reopened the possibility of a deal.
The position is relatively clear. Aston Villa tried to sign the Portugal international on a loan with an option to buy, but that approach was rejected. Bayern want a permanent transfer for a player they signed for £47.4m, and that has created an opening for Newcastle, who are now described as being willing to explore a full deal if terms can be agreed.
For Newcastle, this is less about opportunism and more about necessity. Their midfield has been heavily disrupted this summer and the recruitment priority appears to have shifted towards players who can deliver immediately. Palhinha, now 31, fits that profile. He knows the Premier League, has the tactical discipline to anchor a midfield, and would bring a level of authority that Newcastle's current reshaping badly needs.

The report states that Palhinha "has been told by Bayern that he has no future at the club" after his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur. That alone explains why the market is moving. Once a club decides a player is available, and once the buying club knows the seller prefers certainty, conversations become more straightforward.

Devdutt Padikkal marked his return to Test cricket in style, scoring his maiden century in the format during India's first innings of the Galle Test against Sri Lanka.

The Karnataka left-hander produced a composed yet attacking knock, handling the challenging conditions with maturity and putting pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers. Padikkal was particularly effective against spinners Prabath Jayasuriya and Keshara Nuwantha, combining caution with well-timed aggression.

The 26-year-old came into the Test on the back of a century against SLC XI in the warm-up game and continued his strong run of form when it mattered most.

Padikkal may have found it difficult to break into India's playing XI had Sai Sudharsan been fit and available for the series. However, his century has strengthened his case for a continued run at No.3.

Speaking after the close of play on Day 1, Padikkal revealed that determination was key to getting through a physically demanding innings in Galle, where the heat and humidity took a toll.

"In this knock, determination for me was playing through that tiredness and fatigue that I was feeling, especially towards the third session. I think it was getting really hot, and we were losing a lot of fluid. We were sweating all the time. So it was really important that I was determined enough to keep going and keep pushing forward," Padikkal said in a video shared by BCCI.

The batter also stressed the importance of maintaining concentration on a surface that did not make batting easy.

"It wasn't the easiest of wickets to bat on. I think we had to make sure that we didn't play too many last shots. We had to make sure that we kept our minds in the game as long as possible because, like I said, again, when you get tired, it's easy to lose that discipline, and I think as a team we did that well today," he added.

Padikkal shared a 150-run partnership with KL Rahul before Rahul retired hurt on 77 after suffering from cramps. For Padikkal, the century was particularly significant as he had not played a Test for India since 2024 and had waited almost two years for another opportunity.

His return to the side came after a prolific run across domestic cricket and the IPL. Strong performances in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, along with his IPL form, helped him force his way back into the reckoning.

Padikkal admitted that the long wait had tested his patience but also gave him time to improve his game.

"Patience for me, I think it was more to do with what I've gone through before this game. I think my last Test was in 2024. So it's been a long time coming, and I've had to patiently wait, look on from the outside. It's never easy. But at the same time, it gave me time to really work on my game and perfect things that needed perfecting. And I'm really glad that all that hard work came to effect today. It feels great," said Padikkal.

The left-hander also revealed that he felt nervous as he approached the thr

Coach Mark Few put the Gonzaga Bulldogs program and the university in Spokane, Washington, on the map. An underdog who built something that was never supposed to happen at a tiny Jesuit institution in the Inland Northwest.
Forget all the wins, championships, and NBA pedigree from its alumni for a second; his presence helped the school's enrollment and finances throughout the last 27 years. Helping grow other educational disciplines, such as mine with the Department of Integrated Media, and others. This situation for both parties was a match made in heaven from the beginning.
Along with Few, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2026 inducted coach Doc Rivers, coach Mike D'Antoni, forward/center Amar'e Stoudemire, forward Chamique Holdsclaw, forward Candace Parker, forward Elena Delle Donne, referee Joey Crawford, and the 1996 U.S. Olympic Women's Basketball Team. The group received their "Naismith Orange" jackets the day before at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
In attendance for Few's ceremony were, first and foremost, his family: wife Marcy Laca, sons AJ, Joe, Colt, and daughter Julia. His presenters were Hall of Famer John Stockton, Arkansas Razorbacks coach John Calipari, and Managing Director of USA Basketball Grant Hill.
Arizona Wildcats coach Tommy Lloyd, former Villanova Wildcats coach Jay Wright, sportscaster Neil Everett showed their love for Few. As well as some of his past and current staff members like **** istant coaches Brian Michaelson, RJay Barsh, Zach Norvell, Dan Monson, Bill Grier, Ray Giacoletti, Ricky Fois, and Roger Powell.

Drew Gilbert had never hit lead-off before. The vast majority of his plate appearances this season have come out of the 8th and 9th spots in the batting order. There's plenty of reasons why Gilbert wouldn't be seriously considered to bat first when constructing a Major League line-up. Mainly, he doesn't hit for average, he doesn't hit for power, nor does he inflate his on-base percentage with walks. Gilbert's barely the same species as a Kyle Schwarber or Shohei Ohtani, the 21st century take on the top spot. Considering he's swiped only 2 bases in 137 Major League games, Gilbert is pretty far from Vince Coleman and the more old-school, light-and-fast model too, aimed at wrecking havoc on the bases after beating out an infield single.
The lead-off man has been a revolving door for the Giants all season. It's been dependent on the opposing starter's arm, who's healthy, or the hot hand. No one has been particularly good at it. San Francisco's lead-off men have posted a .279 OBP — by far the lowest in the Majors. Their overall production, with a 89 wRC+, is well below league average.
The point of the offensive spear being not that pointy could explain some of the team's frustrating inconsistencies and overall struggles.
Game 123 of this doomed season, Tony Vitello is throwing spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks. Dating back to July 30th, in which the Giants have gone 4-10 while dropping four straight series, seven different players have hit lead-off. Pencilling Gilbert's name into the top spot — because why not? — made him the 13th player to serve in the role this year, which is the most in any Giants season since 1901.
13 might be a lucky number because Gilbert transformed himself to fit into the role. The middle schooler hyped-up on Mountain Dew Baja Blast energy he typically emanates at the plate was completely gone. In its place, a stoic figure, a discerning eye. The new number-1 went 3-for-4, with a walk, 3 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. He worked a lead-off walk, taking six straight pitches, and didn't lift his bat off his shoulder. The Number- 9 hitter Gilbert probably would've swung a dozen times. But that Gilbert is dead now; or at least, repressed, stuffed in the locker of his subconsciousness (for the day at least), because when he came up again in the 3rd, nothing had changed. Gilbert was just as calm and disciplined. He took a first pitch fastball in the dirt for ball one, and an elevated curveball at the letters for ball two. Being ahead in the count matters, and Gilbert specifically needs that breathing room. He's hitting .300 with a 1.014 OPS (70 AB) when he's swinging with count leverage. When he's backed into a corner: .224 with a .585 OPS (85 AB).
