The Clasico Regio ended in a 0-0 draw as neither team was able to find that breakout goal. The match was supposed to be one filled with excitement and passion, as is every rivalry game, but this one fell short of that by miles. Now Monterrey will prepare for a difficult game against current champions Cruz Azul while Tigres will face 18th place Juárez.
The beginning of the game seemed to set the tone for the game as Monterrey spent the first 10 minutes pressing high. They were not giving Tigres any room to breathe. This high pressure led to frustrations for the visitors who committed fouls left and right. Joaquim even went as far as committing an unnecessary reckless foul and he was awarded the first yellow card seven minutes into the game. In the 10th minute that high pressure paid off with a dangerous opportunity as the Rayados made their way up the right flank. The ball was crossed into the box but Mauro Lainez was there to kick the ball out of danger. A few minutes later and the home side had another opportunity as Orbelin Pineda beat his mark on the left wing and made his way into the box. Unfortunately he did not shoot as he tried to find the perfect angle and in the process he was dispossessed.
By the 30 minute mark the game had hit a stalemate as both teams attempted to break the other down but the defenses stood strong. Monterrey weren't pressing with the high intensity as they had at the beginning of the game meanwhile Tigres were just trying to make their way forward but were unable to make any real threats. A few minutes later Monterrey had a big chance at goal as Lucas Ocampos received a cross in the box that he sent towards the net but Nahuel was there to make the save. This seemed to awaken Rayados who picked up the intensity but were stopped short by Tigres who started to foul again. Mauro Lainez even picked up a yellow for a foul. The half ended with both teams pushing but unable to find anything.
The second half started like the first with Monterrey putting pressure on Tigres who had trouble moving the ball forward. They then had a dangerous chance in the 55th minute when Juan Brunetta stole the ball at the halfway line and made a run towards his opponents box. Instead of making his way into the box he shot from distance but the ball went over the crossbar. Brunetta seemed to be the only one on Tigres who was attempting to make any breakthroughs while his teammates did little to help him. In the 60th minute the visitors had a big chance as they were awarded a free kick outside of the box due to a Rayados foul. The ball made its way inside the box where Alan Franco headed the ball towards the net but Andrada collected the ball.
It wasn't until the 65th minute that either team made substitutions as Monterrey struck first as Matias Almeyda decided to put fresh legs in at striker. A few minutes later Victor Vucetich also brought in two players with fresh legs looking for a spark his team needed. These changes didn't work for eith

There are performances that deserve applause, and others for which even a standing ovation falls short. That was the level of the symphony Natalia Mauleón conducted on the field at Estadio Jalisco, leading and executing the red-and-white attack in the 0-4 win over Atlas in the Clásico Tapatío.
Wearing No. 14, the Michoacán native hit the ground running in the fold as a signing for this Apertura 2026. Mauleón had already shown glimpses of her quality in her first appearances, but what she did last night was simply extraordinary.
Starting as an attacking midfielder, she supported Alicia Cervantes and Denise Castro in the Rebaño's attack, with width provided by Joseline Montoya and Jasmine Casarez down the flanks. From that advanced midfield role, thanks to the peripheral vision with which she reads moments, ****** es, and movements, 'Mau' became the undisputed focal point of the match, as every Guadalajara goal went through her feet.
On the first goal, she orchestrated the high press by staying close to the ball at all times so that, after Eva González won it back, a quick touch on the reception opened the inside lane for 'Jas' to burst through and finish for the goal.
The second goal was just as brilliant: it was Natalia herself who once again started the press, winning the ball in the final third and creating a textbook 3-on-2 at the edge of the box. Patiently, she waited for Denise to drift wide before slipping the ball to her at the perfect moment, leaving her to bury it first time.

Barcelona now know the road they must go through in the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase, with Hansi Flick's side beginning their European campaign at home before facing a potentially decisive trip to Paris shortly before the first Clasico of the season.
The Blaugrana will open their Champions League campaign against Feyenoord at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday, September 9, with kick-off scheduled for 6.45 pm.
Barcelona had already learned the eight opponents they will face in the competition, but UEFA has now confirmed the order of fixtures and dates, giving Flick and his players a clearer picture of the challenges ahead.

The standout fixture from Barcelona's Champions League schedule is undoubtedly the away match against Paris Saint-Germain.

Both River Plate and Boca Juniors are going through one of the most difficult periods of their modern history. Massive spending, coaching carousels, and an apparent struggle to adapt to a rapidly changing football landscape have put Argentina's two biggest clubs on remarkably similar paths that are headed in the wrong direction.
The Superclásico remains one of the biggest events in world football, but the institutions behind it are struggling to live up to the extraordinary standards they established over the past two decades. River Plate and Boca Juniors continue to have enormous fanbases worldwide, some of the largest commercial operations in South American football, and the ability to spend more than most of their domestic rivals. Yet the results on the pitch increasingly fail to reflect those advantages.
That contradiction is at the heart of the current crisis. Argentina's two biggest clubs have more resources than almost any other team in the country, but neither has been able to turn those resources into a sustainable sporting project.

Argentine soccer has changed dramatically over the last two decades. There was a time when the Primera División was structured around the familiar Apertura and Clausura tournaments, a format that gave Argentine football a recognizable rhythm and identity. The system was not perfect, but supporters understood the stakes and knew that two separate league champions would be crowned each year.

Brazilian international Casemiro has become the latest in a rapidly growing list of high-profile names to have called Inter Miami home. The 34-year-old signed a deal with the Herons after the FIFA World Cup, joining through the 2027 MLS Sprint season, with the option for a further two years.
In joining Miami, which is co-owned by fellow Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham, Casemiro will become one of the few players to have had the opportunity to play alongside two of the all-time greats in Cristiano Ronaldo and Miami's Lionel Messi.
Looking ahead to this prospect, with Messi having recently returned to training following Argentina's run to the World Cup Final, where they lost 1-0 to Spain after extra time, Casemiro called his new teammate and former El Clásico rival "one of the gods, if not the god of football."

The headlines in Boston surrounded Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé as he took his World Cup 2026 goal tally to eight goals as he scored France’s first goal in a 2-0 against Morocco just before the hour mark in a hard fought quarter-final with limited chances for either side.
The French captain had enjoyed the best chance for his side as he stepped up to take a spot-kick win by the number 10 in the first half. Mbappé went down early after a diving challenge from Manchester United’s Noussair Mazrsoui. A three-and-a-half minute VAR review followed, with Mbappé made to wait before stepping up.
His penalty was then saved by Yassine Bounou, previously of Atlético Madrid and Sevilla, diving down low to his left. It was Mbappé’s first penalty miss since October’s Clásico and his first for his country since June 2023.
He made amends 30 minutes later as he broke the deadlock with a curling effort from the edge of the box leaving Bounou with no chance as it hit the side netting and gave France the lead.
Mbappé turned provider minutes later as he teed up Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé to add a second for Les Bleus, again from outside the penalty box, before the second period’s hydration break.

As Jordan Pickford punched away the umpteenth Mexican cross and the Australian official blew the final whistle, Jude Bellingham collapsed in victory inside the England penalty area. Battered, bruised, exhausted. Sometimes, the Real Madrid midfielder’s histrionics are a tad questionable. Not this time.
The magnitude of the stage – the World Cup’s most iconic stadium – was inescapable. England were public enemy No 1, facing the co-hosts in their near-impenetrable fortress. And at an altitude of 7,200m, Bellingham did not catch his breath: he was simply breathless.
Nobody rose to the occasion more than England’s talismanic attacking midfielder on Sunday night. And it wasn’t just his goals, which were brilliant by the way. It was his last-ditch tackles, his phenomenal hold-up play, his output off the ball, his motivational barks at his teammate, his wondrous quick feet.
And as the big screens cut to Bellingham amidst the downpour of the pre-match warm-up and he looked up, a wipe of his brow perhaps foreshadowed the 90 minutes ahead. His inference was simple: this was to be his stage.
Whether it be a debut in El Clásico, a Champions League final or major international tournaments, nothing brings the best out of Bellingham – still only 23 years of age, the youngest England player ever to reach 50 caps – like the grandest of arenas.

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is on the verge of making a new signing. According to Mundo Deportivo and Cadena SER, citing anonymous sources, Barça has already reached an agreement with Flick's new chosen physical preparation expert Holger Broich.
Julio Tous was appointed as the head of the physical preparation department when Flick replaced Xavi Hernandez as first team manager in the summer of 2024.
With the Catalans claiming five out of the six major Spanish trophies on offer over the past two seasons, while Real Madrid went without silverware, you could call Tous and Flick’s time together a success.
In 2025/2026, however, tensions arose when Raphinha relapsed just before the October Clasico lost to Madrid in the Bernabeu.

After two years without winning the ******* le, there is a strong desire to return it to the Bernabeu next May, and with Jose Mourinho now at the helm, their chances are good.
Real Madrid will start the season on the weekend of the 16th of August with a home match against Copa del Rey holders Real Sociedad, with their first away fixture the following weekend at Elche. Newly-promoted side Malaga then travel to the Bernabeu before they round off their first set of five matches with matches against Real Betis (away) and Rayo Vallecano (home).
Fans will eagerly anticipate the first El Clasico fixture of the season, which takes place on MD10 – the weekend of the 25th of October – at the Spotify Camp Nou, with the return match being at the Bernabeu on MD35 in May. Earlier this week, Real Madrid announced the signing of Spain international defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. The 27-year-old will move to the Bernabeu later this summer, but first, he will be focused on achieving success with Spain at this summer's World Cup.
News of Cucurella's move to Real Madrid dominated the Spanish camp in the 24 hours before La Roja's goalless draw against Cape Verde on Monday. However, Barcelona's Gavi has admitted that no one in the squad knew about the deal until mere hours before it was confirmed by the Bernabeu club, as he told RAC1.
"We found out (Cucurella was joining Real Madrid) the day before, after training. We didn't expect it and **** ody knew, the b****** kept it very quiet. Lamine has been teasing him a bit, because now he will be the one to defend him in the Clasicos. But I like him as a rival. He's tough and intense. He's a good signing for Real Madrid, I'm happy for him."
That battle between Cucurella and Lamine Yamal is one that many El Clasico viewers will have a vested interest in ahead of next season's matches. The 18-year-old Barcelona winger was shut down by Alvaro Carreras in the first meeting between the sides during the 2025-26 campaign, and the new left-back has every chance of doing similar, given that he kept him quiet when Chelsea defeated in the Catalans in the Champions League last November.
