Manchester United appear to have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit of Leicester City speedster Jeremy Monga. The Red Devils’ form in the final third of the pitch improved drastically in the 2025/26 campaign following an investment of over £200 million in the frontline last summer.
United scored 69 goals in 38 Premier League games, just two fewer than champions ******* nal. While Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all enjoyed impressive debut campaigns, the English giants remain on the hunt for further attacking reinforcements this year.
The idea is to add more width to the frontline, as neither Cunha nor Mbeumo are natural wingers. The duo have a tendency to drift inside, and the Red Devils are looking for a speedy winger who can stretch the opposition and add another dimension to their attack.
RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye have been named as options, but INEOS also remain alert to rising stars from across the country. A previous report relayed by The Peoples Person suggests that Monga is on United’s wish list this year.
Monga rose through the ranks at the King Power Stadium and broke into the senior side in April 2025. He subsequently became the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League, behind ******* nal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

Russell Wilson’s retirement marks the end of one of the most accomplished quarterback careers of the modern NFL era. After 14 seasons, a Super Bowl championship, ten Pro Bowl selections, and nearly 47,000 passing yards, Wilson announced Wednesday that he is stepping away from football. The longtime Seattle Seahawks star leaves the game as one of the most productive dual-threat quarterbacks in league history, finishing his career with 353 touchdown passes and more than 5,500 rushing yards.
In an announcement on Twitter/X, Wilson announced his retirement and addressed many different people along the way, including former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
“To coach Carroll, thanks for taking a chance on a young, 5-11 Black kid from Richmond, Virginia, that was told he was too small to ever make it in the NFL,” Wilson said. “We knew what winning was like. And to every teammate I’ve had the privilege of sharing the locker room with, thank you for the sacrifices, the brotherhood, the memories. None of this is possible without you.”
Wilson’s retirement may be fresh, but that is not stopping him from continuing to work in the field that he loves. He has accepted a position with CBS Sports as an ******* yst for the upcoming 2026 football season.
“As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and The NFL Today, I’m so blessed to continue doing what I love most, being around the greatest game in the world,” Wilson said.

PHOENIX — Orel Hershiser was getting ready to grab dinner before broadcasting the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game Wednesday night when he got the news that Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sanchez’s bid to break his all-time scoreless innings streak had ended.
Hershiser says he was privately rooting for Sanchez, but concedes that his family and friends were quite relieved his record 59-inning scoreless streak remains the standard. Sanchez’s streak was snapped at 50.2 innings on San Diego Padres center fielder Jack Merrill’s two-out single, scoring Ty France from second base.
“It’s a great accomplishment, it really is,’’ Hershiser told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s tremendous. I really believe you’re going to see more streaks this year. You’ve got guys like Shohei (Ohtani of the Dodgers). Miz (Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewers). I think with the way hitting is now, you’re going to see more of these streaks.
“Someone will break the record.’’
Just not now, with Hershiser’s 1988 record still standing after 38 years and counting.

Giants and Cardinals could make perfect trade to win NL Central from Brewers, Cubs originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
If anybody had guessed that the St. Louis Cardinals were going to be 31-27 to start the year, most would have said they wouldn't believe it. The Cardinals weren't expected to do much this season, but, as they typically do, they've found ways to win games.
I understand that Cardinals fans haven't been too happy with the direction of the organization before this season, but I think all longtime baseball fans understand that this is a team that has found ways to win, perhaps one of the most successful organizations in baseball over the past few decades.
Heading into this trade deadline, it'll be interesting to see which direction they want to go. Some believe the Cardinals will be buyers, while others don't expect that to be the case.
Regardless of what happens, I think there's reason to believe the Cardinals should be buyers. One writer believes so as well, recently naming them a fit for San Francisco Giants left-hander Robbie Ray.

El SEGUNDO, Calif. -- When Mike McDaniel was hired by Jim Harbaugh as the Chargers' offensive coordinator, one of the first thoughts many had was how beneficial the move would be for quarterback Justin Herbert.
Within the first few minutes of McDaniel's introductory press conference, he mentioned that he had “got a quarterback who I’ve always admired.”
This hire was about Herbert and helping him get over a hump that has seen him go 0-3 in the NFL playoffs.
At the end of his 20-minute press conference following the Chargers' 16-3 playoff loss to New England, Herbert brought up McDaniel almost immediately.
"I think you're always doing your best to win those games," Herbert said. "I think that's just something Mike and I talked about being your best in those elimination games. It's a good motivating tool, definitely something you can look back on and push yourself throughout the offseason.”

Rams' new defender makes four-word unretirement pitch to Aaron Donald originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Is it really all that surprising that unretirement rumors centered on former Los Angeles Rams superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald are running rampant?
Monday was an eventful day for Los Angeles, as the franchise made one of the biggest trades of the offseason thus far.
“Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on X/Twitter.
“In exchange for Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and other draft-pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns (we now know that the Browns will also receive a 2028 second-round pick and 2029 third-round pick).”

Arizona hosted a slew of recruits over the weekend, and some of them liked the visit enough to decide Tucson is where they want to play college football.
Jaylen Oliver, a defensive back from Texas, was the first to announce his commitment from this weekend’s official visits.
Oliver is a 6-foot, 170-pound safety that plays for Westfield High School in Houston. He played his first varsity season last year as a junior. He finished the season with 41 tackles, 2 for a loss, 2 interceptions and 3 PBUs. As of yet, Oliver has not been ranked in either of 247Sports’ ranking systems.
On the recruiting front, Oliver has 15 reported offers. He chose Arizona over Illinois, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, North Texas and Pittsburgh to name a few.

Arman Tsarukyan had a front row seat to Khamzat Chimaev’s first career loss against Sean Strickland in May at UFC 328. With a role helping the now-former middleweight champion with his camp, Tsarukyan saw the struggles Chimaev endured.
Chimaev started his lone **** le defense in typical fashion, smothering and dominating Strickland with a heavy-pressure grappling **** ault. But his success in that department waned immediately; Chimaev dropped the subsequent round and battled competitively on the feet throughout the rest of the 25-minute affair. Ultimately, Strickland walked away as the winner via split decision, making him a UFC two-time **** leholder.
Tsarukyan spoke on “The Ariel Helwani Show” Monday, explaining that the 185-pound weight cut took a serious toll on his teammate.
"After first round, he got tired," Tsarukyan told Uncrowned. "Mostly because of weight cut. He could wrestle like 25 minutes nonstop [in camp], spar 25 minutes, but his body — after when he started cutting weight, that night he felt so bad, and in the morning he had no energy. We thought it was gonna be easy. But in the morning, four pounds left, his body didn't start, so we just pushed him to cut and make weight. It was so hard. Then he said, even to me, 'If I'm going to make this weight, I might lose.' I said, 'Bro, no, no. You're gonna recover and you're gonna be good.
"I wasn't worried [that he would make weight]. At one point, when he said, 'I cannot cut weight,' I thought, 'No way,' and we started to push him, and he could make the weight. I said, 'After weigh-ins, you're gonna feel good. So, if you're not gonna feel good, let me know.' But he didn't say anything."
