Adobe (ADBE) shareholders should circle Thursday, Sept. 10, on their calendars. The company will release its third-quarter fiscal 2026 results after the market closes that day, followed by a conference call with investors from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific Time. This report arrives at a pivotal moment for one of the software industry's most closely watched names.
Adobe heads into the report with considerable operational momentum. In fiscal Q2, Adobe generated record revenue of $6.62 billion, up 13% year-over-year (YOY). Just as notably, Adobe's AI-first annual recurring revenue (ARR) more than tripled YOY to exceed $500 million, offering an increasingly tangible sign that its investments in AI products are beginning to produce meaningful recurring revenue.

Diamond Hill Capital, a First Eagle Investment Management company, issued its Q2 2026 investor letter for its "Small Cap Strategy". The letter can be downloaded here. The strategy returned 24.01% in the second quarter, outperforming the Russell 2000 Index's 21.49% return. Performance was positively affected by stock selection in health care and industrials, while the Fund's underweight position in information technology was the largest relative detractor as AI-related companies drove market gains. Small-cap equities benefited from strong earnings, resilient economic conditions, and easing geopolitical concerns, with technology leading sector performance while energy declined alongside lower oil prices. Despite the market's focus on AI, the Fund's strongest contributors came from businesses outside the theme, particularly in health care, defense-oriented companies, and tangible-asset industries. Looking ahead, the Fund remains focused on resilient, underfollowed companies tied to infrastructure, defense modernization, and essential industries where disciplined capital allocation and long-term demand can support value creation. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Diamond Hill Capital Small Cap Strategy highlighted Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH). Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH), a US-based healthcare management company that provides medical care services, contributed positively to the Strategy's performance this quarter. On September 2, 2026, Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) closed at $38.57 per share. Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) was up 11.75% over the past month, and its shares gained 23.75% over the past 52 weeks. Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) has a market capitalization of $1.91 billion.
Diamond Hill Capital Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH), a leader in value-based health care, outperformed as the company results have continued to demonstrate that it was not taking advantage of loopholes within Medicare coding, the balance sheet is back in good shape after the recent Prospect Health acquisition, which is performing well, and recent Medicare Advantage rates came in better than expected."
Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 18 hedge fund portfolios held Astrana Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTH) at the end of the second quarter which was 15 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of Astrana Health, Inc. Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has faced several issues in recent years that have weighed on its share price. First, the company's coronavirus business isn't nearly as strong as it once was. Second, Pfizer is racing toward important patent cliffs, including that of Eliquis, an anticoagulant. Third, the pharmaceutical giant has faced clinical setbacks with otherwise promising pipeline candidates, including some it acquired. This problem has led to billions in impairment charges. Because of these headwinds (and others), Pfizer's shares have lagged broader equities over the past two years and have hovered below $30 apiece. Is it finally time to invest in the company? Let's see whether there is a rebound on the horizon.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Let's start with Pfizer's recent second-quarter update. The company's revenue increased by 1% year over year to $15 billion. While that top-line growth doesn't look impressive, it beat ***** yst estimates. On the bottom line, Pfizer's adjusted earnings per share were $0.77, slightly lower than the $0.78 reported in the prior-year quarter. Here too, Pfizer beat expectations. And it's important to highlight what drove the revenue and earnings beat.
The company noted that non-COVID revenue increased 5% year over year, while sales from launched and acquired products jumped 18%. This is great news for Pfizer. It suggests that newer (and acquired) products will help pull sales in the right direction over the medium term, while older medicines, especially within its coronavirus business, continue to lose steam.
Even with the progress Pfizer is making with relatively new launches, upcoming patent cliffs will be a major problem for the company. Consider, for instance, that Eliquis was the drugmaker's best-selling therapy during the second quarter. Pfizer's revenue from Eliquis came in at $2.4 billion, up 21% year over year. So, it arguably remains its single most important growth driver. Pfizer will have to launch more new drugs to fill the gap Eliquis will leave behind as it faces generic competition by the end of the decade. Can the company pull it off? My view is that it can.

On August 25, The Bank of Nova Scotia (NYSE:BNS) reported third-quarter results that hit a target management had been promising for the medium term, not the near term. Return on equity reached 14.2%, adjusted net income climbed to $2.97 billion, and adjusted earnings per share rose to $2.28 from $1.88 a year earlier, a 21% jump. CEO Scott Thomson signaled that 14% won't be the high-water mark for the bank's returns going forward. With every division growing at once, the quarter reads like a strategy finally clicking into place.
Canadian Banking earned $1.1 billion, up 12% year over year, with return on equity jumping 160 basis points sequentially to 19.4%. That came from a fifth straight quarter of margin expansion, plus commercial loan growth that accelerated to 3% sequentially after 2% the quarter before, with small business lending up 10% year over year. Credit card premium mix rose to 45% of new acquisitions, up from 35% a year ago.
Global Banking and Markets posted its best quarterly net income ever, $647 million, up 37% year over year, helped by a net interest margin that expanded more than 30 basis points and a run of marquee deals, including the two largest debt capital markets issuances ever done in Canada and the country's biggest IPO since 2021. Loans in that segment grew 7% sequentially as the bank reinvests after a period of deliberate optimization.
Global Wealth Management earnings rose 23% to $515 million as the segment posted net sales of $3 billion for the quarter, a Q3 record, while ******* ets under management reached $474 billion. Referrals between Canadian Banking and Wealth Management hit $14 billion year to date, with commercial-to-wealth referrals up 33%. International Banking added $725 million, up 6% on a constant dollar basis, with retail loans growing 5% as management leans into primary banking relationships. The bank also logged its tenth straight quarter of positive operating leverage.
The quarter wasn't friction-free. Expenses grew 14% year over year, driven largely by performance-based pay and a 16% increase in technology spending to $1.5 billion. Chief Risk Officer Shannon McGinnis flagged, "We continue to monitor some pockets of weakness, including elevated mortgage delinquencies," even with the retail book carrying an average FICO score of 798. International Banking's provision for credit losses ran at 138 basis points, well above the 42 basis points booked in Canadian Banking, and the segment absorbed an incremental $57 million provision tied to a corporate account in Brazil that management said it continues to work through.

It's just a single report and the words of one person quoted in it, but an outlook by TD Cowen on what broker insurance might do in the wake of the Montgomery decision is sobering.
In a report from the transportation team at TD Cowen led by managing director Jason Seidl, based on a phone call with an unidentified "trucking insurance agency executive," TD Cowen said what it has heard so so far on the looming rise in insurance premiums for brokers due to Montgomery fallout has been enough that "commentary from our call keeps us negative on the brokers."
That negative outlook at TD Cowen is for three companies, TD Cowen said: RXO (NYSE: RXO), C.H. Robinson (NASDAQ: CHRW) and Landstar (NASDAQ: LSTR).
The Montgomery decision from May removed liability and negligence protection for brokers that had been provided by several court decisions involving an interpretation of the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (F4A).

The long-term growth story for nuclear power is clear. Artificial intelligence (AI) companies are scaling energy-intensive data center infrastructure as quickly as humanly possible. And the current energy grid isn't prepared for this unprecedented build-out. New energy sources will be needed quickly, and nuclear energy could deliver the reliable, low-carbon baseload power the AI industry craves.
NuScale Power (NYSE: SMR) has long appreciated this data center infrastructure demand tailwind. The company's small modular reactors (SMRs) are a great fit for adding large amounts of reliable power generation to the grid.
Continue »
This year, however, I think there's an even more exciting catalyst to pay attention to than general industry demand tailwinds.
NuScale remains the only nuclear developer in the U.S. approved by regulators to build an SMR system. But it has yet to even commercialize its approved designs. That could change later this year when the company suspects it could reach a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a major customer.

Robots are gaining steam in the construction industry, with two announcements this week highlighting the demand for these solutions on jobsites.
On Monday, global investment behemoth SoftBank threw its weight behind Gravis Robotics in a $200 million Series A funding round. That same day, Bedrock Robotics, founded by alumni from robotaxi firm Waymo, announced its machines were doing work on real jobsites for established contractors, including Sundt Construction and Zachry Construction.
Those are only the latest developments in the sector. Last year, "robot brain" maker FieldAI raised $405 million across two consecutive funding rounds. And Bedrock's latest jobsite announcement followed its February funding news, where it raised $270 million in a Series B round.
The focus on robots in construction demonstrates not only a desire from legacy investors to pursue automation in the sector, but the need of contractors to find labor — human or otherwise — to complete jobs. As Bedrock CEO Boris Sofman told Construction Dive earlier this week, "We are seeing increasing projects with millions of cubic yards of earth to be moved."

Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), a global networking hardware and security provider, closed at $113.47, down 8.40%. The stock fell after better-than-expected fiscal fourth-quarter results and guidance, but investors are focusing on margin pressure, even as the stock is still up nearly 50% this year.
Trading volume reached 61.1 million shares, coming in about 137% above its three-month average of 25.7 million shares.
The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) rose 0.65% to 7,799, and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) gained 0.81% to 26,803. In networking equipment and enterprise communications technology, Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) fell 3.27% to $203.62, while Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE:HPE) rose 1.75% to $59.82 as investors weighed Cisco Systems' earnings reaction and broader spending trends.
Investors approached Cisco's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings with high expectations for the company. Cisco stock was up 60% year-to-date entering today's trading. While the company delivered record top and bottom-line results, total (non-GAAP) gross margin for the quarter dropped to 66.3% from last year's 68.4%. This decline was partly attributed to the increased cost of components used in AI hardware, such as memory.
AI-related demand remains strong, however. Some **** ysts also noted the decline in gross margin, but suggested that operating margins would expand in fiscal 2027. This expansion could result in profits growing faster than revenue.
That may make today's plunge a good opportunity to at least begin a position in Cisco stock.

Funding a 10-year retirement bridge to Social Security at 70 requires $2.1M at a 3.5% yield, $1.25M at 6%, or $750K at 10%.
Claiming Social Security at 62 instead of 70 triggers a permanent 30% benefit cut, which typically exceeds any portfolio yield gap.
A moderate-yield portfolio that gradually spends principal often outperforms a high-yield strategy that risks distribution cuts midway through the bridge.
Are you ahead, or behind on retirement? SmartAsset's free tool can match you with a financial advisor in minutes to help you answer that today. Each advisor has been carefully vetted, and must act in your best interests. Don't waste another minute; learn more here.
The average American household spends $78,535 a year. If you retire at 60 and delay Social Security until 70 to lock in the maximum benefit, you need to fund roughly a decade of that spending yourself. Every year you wait past your full retirement age adds about 8% to your check, so the delay pays off, but only if your portfolio can carry the load in the meantime.

Interested in Watts Water Technologies, Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
Record Q2 performance: Sales rose 19% to $763 million, while adjusted EPS increased 18% to $3.66. Growth was driven by pricing, acquisitions and strong data-center demand, although adjusted operating margin fell 60 basis points to 21%.
Data centers are a rapidly expanding opportunity: Sales to data-center customers more than tripled year over year, and Watts raised its estimated served market to approximately $2 billion, including liquid-cooling and thermal-storage applications. Management cautioned that project timing and customer pull-forwards could increase quarterly volatility.
Full-year outlook raised despite construction weakness: Watts now expects 8%–11% organic sales growth, 14%–17% reported growth and 20–80 basis points of adjusted margin expansion. Residential and broader nonresidential construction remain soft, but repair-and-replacement activity, which represents about 60% of sales, provides support.

A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).

So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?
➡ Read more: Want to buy a house in 2026? Here's what you need to know.
Generally, experts don't foresee a housing market crash in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.
"We're not heading toward a housing crash; we're in a market correction defined by stability, not volatility," Hoby Hanna, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said via email. "Today's housing environment is fundamentally different from 2008. Homeowners have record levels of equity, lending standards are sound, and inventory remains constrained. What we're seeing now is a normalization, not a collapse, as the market adjusts to new economic realities. For buyers and sellers, this is a market filled with opportunity and resilience, not instability or uncertainty."

A single exchange-traded fund that pays you $1,000 a month in dividends sounds almost too clean, and one fund keeps landing at the center of that conversation.
The Schwab U.S. Dividend Equity ETF (SCHD) holds more than $102 billion in total net ******* ets as of July 2026, according to Schwab ******* et Management's fund page. A 3.3% trailing yield, a 0.06% expense ratio, and 14 straight years of dividend growth explain why it draws so much attention.
But run the numbers on what it actually takes to pull $1,000 a month from that yield, and the reality hits differently.
Generating $1,000 a month means earning $12,000 a year from one investment. Dividing that annual target by SCHD's current 3.3% distribution yield produces a required investment of roughly $364,000, the fund's yield data confirmed.
At a share price near $33.29 as of late July 2026, that's approximately 10,900 shares, a portfolio concentration that few individual investors would find comfortable or feasible.

Interested in RTX Corporation? Here are five stocks we like better.
RTX and Lockheed Martin both beat Q2 earnings and revenue estimates, sending shares up 7% and 10%, respectively, and expanding their record contract backlogs.
Neither company's backlog yet reflects the resumed Iran conflict, while an unenacted 2027 NDAA could threaten multiyear defense procurement contracts if not signed by October 1.
Lockheed's backlog is nearly all defense-related with limited commodity risk, whereas RTX's backlog is 58% exposed to commercial aerospace risks like fuel prices and airline capacity.
The war trade has resumed in July, and earnings from two of the U.S.'s most prominent defense contractors are leading the tape. After weak Q1 reports and a tenuous Iran ceasefire, aerospace and defense stocks deepened their drawdowns as the market repriced the re-stock trade and institutional selling intensified. But now that the war is back on and Q2 reports from defense companies are rolling in, the repricing is being repriced. Does the defense trade have staying power this time?

Earlier this month, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon pointed to shipbuilding as an example of the modern American Dream: a career where workers can earn six-figure salaries after just a few years of training while helping rebuild a critical piece of U.S. infrastructure. And while on paper, it's an attractive proposition—in practice, it might be a much harder sell.
Shipyard jobs often require long shifts, physically demanding labor, and spending hours outdoors in extreme heat, cold, or rain. Those conditions have contributed to chronic worker shortages that defense leaders say threaten the country's ability to expand naval production.
Attrition rates among shipyard workers have historically ranged from 20% to 22%, Eric Labs, the Congressional Budget Office's senior **** yst for naval forces and weapons, told National Defense last year. In some high-demand skilled trades, turnover can exceed 30%. By comparison, one survey found the average voluntary turnover rate in the U.S. to be 13.0% between 2024 and 2025.
"There is no way to improve the condition of the shipbuilding industrial base with attrition rates that high," Labs said.
Former Navy Secretary John Phelan has argued pay is a main part of the equation—when workers can earn a similar amount without those dangers.

International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM) lost 25.2% on July 14, erasing about $68 billion in market value in the stock's worst session on record. At first glance, the sell-off appears contradictory amid the still-robust AI investment cycle. Gartner expects worldwide AI spending to jump 47% to $2.59 trillion in 2026, with $1.43 trillion going to infrastructure. So IBM didn't crash because of any weakening in AI spending, but because that spending shifted toward hardware just as the company missed mainframe targets and couldn't close major deals.
IBM revealed the damage eight days before its scheduled earnings report. Preliminary second-quarter revenue rose just 1% to $17.2 billion, about $660 million below the LSEG consensus, while adjusted earnings of $2.93 per share missed the $3.02 estimate. Software growth slowed to 5%, Consulting was flat, and Infrastructure fell 7%. However, the numbers alone did not look bad enough to wipe out a quarter of IBM's value; it was the unscheduled warning and CEO Arvind Krishna's blunt admission that the company had "faltered".
JuliusKielaitis / Shutterstock.com
In his July 14 investor letter, Krishna said clients spent the final weeks of June rushing to secure supply-constrained servers, storage and memory before expected price increases. Cybersecurity concerns also competed for budgets and attention. IBM did capture some of that spending: Distributed Infrastructure revenue jumped 37%. But that strength was overwhelmed by weakness elsewhere. Several large deals slipped beyond the quarter, while IBM Z and its related Transaction Processing software missed expectations. To sum it up, the AI boom didn't really miss IBM; it's just that the money hit the wrong side of its portfolio at the wrong time.
That timing hit a stock priced for reinvention. Reuters Breakingviews noted that IBM has spent more than $50 billion since 2018 on buying Red Hat, HashiCorp, and Confluent. Before IBM released the preliminary figures, its shares traded at roughly 26 times forward earnings after more than doubling in five years. Its generative AI book had reached $12.5 billion, while first-quarter software revenue grew 11%. The second quarter's 5% growth therefore challenged the premise supporting IBM's rerating. Oppenheimer, which had modeled 12% software growth, responded by downgrading the stock and abandoning its $350 target.

Heartland Advisors, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for "Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund". A copy can be downloaded here. Mid-cap stocks sharply rose in the second quarter, driven by perceived AI beneficiaries, particularly in Technology. The Fund returned 9.90% in the quarter, compared to the Russell Midcap® Value Index's 13.40% return. The underperformance was driven by negative stock selection despite Tech being one of the top absolute return contributors. In the challenging environment, the Fund remains focused on its disciplined approach to security selection. In addition, you can check the Fund's top 5 holdings to determine its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund highlighted MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX). MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX) is a leading financial technology company that operates an electronic trading platform. On July 14, 2026, MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX) stock closed at $114.87 per share. One-month return of MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX) was -4.20%, and its shares lost 46.70% of their value over the last 52 weeks. MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX) has a market capitalization of $4.08 billion.
Heartland Mid Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX) in its Q2 2026 investor update:
"Financials. While ON was one of the Fund's top contributor last quarter, the biggest detractor to our Strategy's performance was MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:MKTX), a position we initiated in the first quarter and built in the second quarter. MKTX operates the largest U.S. corporate bond e-trading platform. It sits in a market blind spot —neither championed as an AI winner nor penalized by the AI disruption narrative—offering a high-quality, attractively valued profile with self-help-driven margin expansion potential. However, current macro conditions are a headwind. Heavy primary bond issuance volume, much of it financing the AI boom, alongside tighter credit spreads, has temporarily diverted trading volume away from MKTX's core secondary market.
Why do we remain confident in MKTX? First, the company is exiting a heavy investment cycle that historically pressured margins, setting up strong operating leverage as the pace of spending plateaus and volumes improve. Second, industry trading data indicates market share gains across a key U.S. credit trading protocol where the company investments have been focused. Third, MKTX holds distinct scale advantages in developed international and emerging markets, where electronic trading penetration is still low by comparison to the U.S. Valuation is also highly compelling: the stock trades at 8.8X consensus 2026 Enterprise Value/EBITDA versus a domestic peer median of 14.0X. Despite its superior profit margins and balance sheet, MarketAxess yields over 8% on a FCF/EV basis and is well-positioned for a multi-year profit grow

SpaceX has taken knocks from a few ******* ysts since it announced plans for its IPO. Now Mark Yusko of Morgan Creek Capital is adding to the pile-on as shares in the rocket/AI company continue to fall.
"To me, ******* eX is the equivalent of Dogecoin," Yusko, a Bitcoin bull, (1)said in an interview (1) with Cointelegraph. "Mark Cuban and Elon Musk own most of the coins. And then there's this cult of people who own it and think it's worth something, but it's not worth anything. If Elon sold one Doge, Doge would go to zero."

Mexico's trucking industry is facing a growing driver shortage, with 14% of commercial driver positions sitting vacant as fleet operators struggle to recruit new workers, according to a new survey by the International Road Transport Union (IRU).
The 14% vacancy rate is the second highest among the 18 markets surveyed, trailing only Uzbekistan at 15%, and exceeds the global average vacancy rate of 11%.
The findings highlight mounting workforce pressures in a country that relies heavily on trucking to move domestic freight and support cross-border trade with the U.S.
The report found that recruitment difficulties have worsened in nearly every market since 2021, suggesting driver shortages have become a structural issue rather than one tied to freight cycles or economic slowdowns.
Geneva, Switzerland-based IRU is a global transportation organization with members in 75 countries that represents the interests of bus, coach, taxi and truck operators.
