For the second Serie A game in a row, Inter came back from 2-0 down to win, this time crushing Udinese 5-3 in a chaotic encounter at San Siro.
The Nerazzurri had a perfect start in Serie A thanks to a comeback from 2-0 down to beat Napoli 3-2, but lost their Champions League opener 2-1 to Real Madrid this week following some costly individual errors.
Cristian Chivu rotated, giving John Stones his first start, but resting Lautaro Martinez, Yann Bisseck and Hakan Calhanoglu, along with not fully fit Federico Dimarco and injured Djed Spence. The Friulani had an injury crisis, missing Oumar Solet, Nicolò Zaniolo, Juan Arizala, Matteo Palma and Jakub Piotrowski, the Poland international undergoing surgery today to correct a benign cardiac arrhythmia.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Florida football notched its second blowout victory of the season on Saturday evening, throttling the Campbell Fighting Camels, 52-3, inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
While the visitors struck first blood in this one, the FCS school never really had a chance against the Gators. Jon Sumrall's squad went on to score 52 unanswered points en route to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2021.
Aaron Philo finished by mirroring his efforts from last week with a 16-for-21 performance through the air — good for 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns — while Jadan Baugh rushed 14 times for 134 yards and a pair of scores. Vernell Brown III was spectacular, logging 219 yards and a pair of scores on four returns, and added three catches for 43 yards and a TD as well.
On defense, Florida held Campbell to 210 total yards and forced a turnover on a goal-line stand late in the fourth quarter. Holding the Fighting Camels to just 62 yards (2.5 yards per carry) is also something worth hanging their hat on.
Take a look below at the Gators Wire staff's instant reactions to Florida's second win of the 2026 campaign.

ESPN's "College GameDay" was back last weekend for Lane Kiffin's LSU debut, and in Week 2, it will air live from one of the most anticipated regular-season games of the 2026 season. GameDay will be at Ohio State vs. Texas in Austin, Texas.
GameDay starts at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN and runs until noon on Saturday, Sept. 12. The crew consisting of Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban and Pat McAfee will have their game picks and all the Week 2 ****** ysis.
In recent years, GameDay has been criticized for prioritizing SEC games over traveling across the country to showcase other college game-day atmospheres. This week, however, GameDay did not mess around, selecting the marquee matchup of the week between the Longhorns and Buckeyes. Other options included Kentucky hosting Alabama and Oklahoma at Michigan, but even those aren't top-4 battles like Texas-Ohio State.
Actor Glenn Powell, who completed his undergraduate degree at Texas, will be the celebrity guest picker.
The show also already announced that it will attend the LSU at Ole Miss game in Week 3.

After a quick turnaround following the weekend's Premier League draw at Brighton & Hove Albion, attentions now turn to the trip to Chelsea for Wednesday's EFL Cup Round Three tie for Daniel Farke's side.
The manager spoke to the press ahead of the visit to Stamford Bridge and hopes to have a strong squad at his disposal as the Whites look to progress in the competition.
When asked if there was any major updates to his players' availability, the boss explained: "Joe Rodon, obviously long-term injury out.
"Little question mark behind Daniel James. He reported during the warm-up at Brighton some issues with his back and also with his hamstring.
"Scan results were good so it seems like no new injury. He just had an individual session yesterday. It was okay.

A sputtering lineup stirred in the eighth inning. Jose Altuve struck a one-out double, putting him on the cusp of a career milestone. Christian Walker flared a single into shallow left field. LaMonte Wade Jr. did the same, driving in Altuve and paring a deficit to one run.
The current Houston Astros offense can make that seem sizable. The additional hit it required did not appear. Jonathan Loáisiga got Daulton Varsho to wave at a third-strike changeup. Taylor Trammell, the second pinch-hitter of the inning, popped out to end it.
With a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Astros dropped the deciding game of their series at Daikin Park and concluded a 4-3 homestand with consecutive defeats. They went 8-5 over a 13-game stretch with no off-day, emerging from it with a 73-71 record.
Houston scored three or fewer runs in eight of 13 games during that stretch. Its offense entered Sunday averaging 3.9 runs over its past 30 games, scoring the fifth-fewest runs in the majors in that stretch. Its .220 average was the sport's lowest in that span and its .368 slugging percentage the sixth-lowest.
Sunday, the Astros took three at-bats with a man in scoring position in the first seven innings and went hitless in them. Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez allowed one run in six innings on a first-inning home run by Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez also popped out with two runners on base to end the seventh.

Tennessee linebacker Amare Campbell didn't have much to say about Xavier Gilliam's performance.
Campbell, who played alongside the 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle at Penn State a year ago, called Gilliam's outing on Sept. 5 against Furman "the standard." Gilliam recorded three sacks in his Tennessee football debut, adding five tackles for loss — the most sacks by a UT defender since Darrell Taylor had four on Nov. 10, 2018. He also forced the first fumble of his career while sharing the team-lead in tackles with Campbell at six.
Gilliam's relentless pursuit helped the No. 18 Vols (1-0) to a 56-9 win over the Paladins at Neyland Stadium. More importantly, it proved he could back up continued praise for the consistency.
"Today, that's what he's supposed to do," Campbell said.
Tennessee's defense suffocated Furman, tallying six sacks and 12 tackles for loss. The Vols' season-high in sacks last year was six against Mississippi State.

All the pressure is on Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. After winning the event four straight times, that's now the expectation for newcomers like Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark.
In their first test as a team, the U.S. proved it was capable of greatness, defeating China 94-61 on Friday. In the process, Clark and Bueckers proved they are more than ready to represent Team USA.
It was a mostly smooth ride for Team USA, which led by roughly 20 points for the majority of the contest. On the offensive side, Jackie Young and Rhyne Howard led the way for the Americans early before Clark and Bueckers finished late.
Young, who started the contest, finished with 12 points and three ****** ists in the victory. Howard, who came off the bench, helped the team build its lead early, finishing with 14 points.
But Clark and Bueckers finished strong for Team USA. With the team leaning on its youth movement late, Clark closed out the contest with 14 points and 10 ****** ists in her Team USA debut, racking up a double-double. Bueckers also showed out as a scorer, taking over the contest late to tie for the team lead with 14 points.

Sep. 3—CALEDONIA — Max Schmitz and Caledonia teammate Cooper Allen are arguably the two best defensive football players in southeastern Minnesota.
But there is something both possess that Caledonia coach Carl Fruechte appreciates even more about them.
It's that they'd do anything for this team. That includes both of them playing along the offensive line. They are offensive linemen not because that is their preference. They do it because that is where they are needed most.
And they are good with that.
"They are really special," Fruechte said of his star juniors. "First of all, it's that they are all heart. They care about the team and they sacrifice for the betterment of the team. They love football and they get it. That's what makes me so proud of them. Max and Cooper, they go above and beyond."

Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks remained out of practice on Wednesday, but head coach Dave Canales is unconcerned that Brooks' injury will keep him out of the season opener.
"I'm very optimistic he'll be available for Week 1," Canales said Wednesday, via ESPN's Mike Kaye.
Brooks is dealing with "soreness" Canales revealed Tuesday, but Canales would not specify the location of Brooks' discomfort.
Brooks has undergone back-to-back ACL surgeries on his right knee, but he participated in all of training camp and two preseason games this summer. He played 17 snaps in the preseason.
He tore his right ACL against the Eagles in December 2024, a season after tearing it while playing for the University of Texas. Brooks missed all of the 2025 season.

Everton's £40m deal with Monaco for Folarin Balogun collapsed after the transfer window shut after the United States striker walked away from the move at the 11th hour.
The Premier League side had reached an agreement to sign the 25-year-old but the forward's medical threw up an issue and Everton looked to renegotiate the agreement.
However, Balogun then decided that he did not want to join Everton after all, leaving David Moyes with only one senior striker after Beto was sold to Fiorentina earlier on deadline day.
The Toffees have resigned Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City after selling Iliman Ndiaye to the FA Cup winners for £60m.
Everton explored a late move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee but their offer of a season-long loan was rejected, leaving Thierno Barry as Everton's only striker.

Warriors predicted to sign $15M athletic former first-rounder recently waived by the Cavaliers originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Golden State Warriors' first 12 players on the roster this summer were familiar faces with some level of experience in the organization. However, that changed as the Warriors added several pieces to round out the team during free agency.
Golden State brought in veterans with playoff experience last week, officially signing Georges Niang and Brandon Williams to contracts.
"The Warriors signed Georges Niang to a partially guaranteed deal and Brandon Williams to a non-guaranteed deal, sources say. Niang is partially guaranteed for $1.84M of his $3.88M salary. Williams can earn $1.4M if he makes the opening night roster and up to $2.63M total," HoopsHype's Michael Scotto posted.
The Warriors still have a two-way contract available after rounding out the rest of the roster. Blue Man Hoops' Peter O'Keefe believes Golden State could use that spot to sign Cam Whitmore.

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has opened up about his bowling spell in East Zone's opening Duleep Trophy 2026 match, saying he always enjoys bowling and joking that captain Ishan Kishan did not know he was a "wicket-taker."

Sooryavanshi, who was named East Zone vice-captain for the tournament, made an impact with the ball in the second innings against North East Zone. The left-arm spinner took two wickets in a three-over spell as East Zone completed an innings and 210-run win on Tuesday.

Speaking in a video shared by BCCI Domestic, Sooryavanshi said batters enjoy bowling just as much as bowlers enjoy batting.

"If you ask any batter, they always enjoy bowling. A batter always enjoys bowling and a bowler always enjoys batting equally," Sooryavanshi said.

The teenager said Kishan brought him into the attack because East Zone needed a breakthrough, but added that the captain did not know what he was capable of with the ball.

"Opponent team's wickets weren't falling, so I was asked to bowl two or three overs. Ishan bhaiya felt like he was taking a risk, but he didn't knew that I am a wicket-taker," he added.
Sooryavanshi's spell changed the innings quickly.

He first dismissed Kishan Lyngdoh, who was caught at deep covers while trying to play an aerial shot. Three ***** later, he got left-handed batter Imliwati Lemtur to edge behind, with Kishan taking the catch behind the stumps.

The Bihar youngster said he knew he had only three overs to bowl and wanted to make the most of them.

"I had only one thing in my mind: that even if I take five wickets, I'm only going to get to bowl three overs only. So (the plan) was to bowl as well as I can and target one spot only and finish my spell well."

The Rajasthan Royals batter did not have much success with the bat in the match. He scored eight in East Zone's only innings but said contributing with the ball made up for it.

"It was a lot of fun because batting didn't go so well in the match. So, contributing with the ball was great. And of course, when a batter takes a wicket, there's no greater enjoyment than that, so it was a lot of fun!" he concluded.

Sooryavanshi now has four wickets in First-Class cricket.

East Zone have qualified for the Duleep Trophy semi-finals and will face Central Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 2 in Bengaluru. The match starts at 9:30am on Sunday, while the final begins on September 6.

Over the next few days, the Carolina Panthers will decide who will make their initial 53-man roster. That's only the beginning of the work, though—as the real roster to start the season won't be finalized until several days later, after the flurry of waiver-wire activity.
While Panthers finally filled their big hole at tight end by signing Darren Waller, they still have a few positions that desperately could use an upgrade. Linebacker and edge are among them, as is the starting safety spot opposite Tre'von Moehrig—currently held by veteran Nick Scott.
On that score, one name to watch for the Panthers is former Buffalo Bills safety Taylor Rapp—who briefly signed with the Denver Broncos, but is a free agent again. Bleacher Report sees him as a fit to return to the Broncos:
The Broncos already have a loaded defense. However, they should be interested in bringing back Rapp, who has made 72 starts while allowing an opposing passer rating of 91.0 in his career and who has experience at both strong and free safety. Other teams with questionable safety depth should have an eye on Rapp, too.
Carolina should definitely be one of them, and their need is far greater than Denver's.

MCDERMOTT — Holding a sizeable lead in terms of possession and shot opportunities is certainly a big deal in the sport of soccer. After all, executing in those areas only increases one's chances for multiple conversions on the scoreboard.
But at the end of the day, the only score that matters is the final score that's displayed on the home and away side.
Not a stranger to competitive contests when they've met up themselves, the Northwest Mohawks' and Valley Indians' boys soccer programs again battled in a competitive match Wednesday evening.
For much of the game, Valley held serve in terms of shots and time of possession, claiming a 28-2 shot advantage in the 80-minute affair with 17 shots on goal.
But a gritty Northwest defensive effort, led by 16 saves from junior goalkeeper Chase Kingrey and an early second minute goal from standout forward Luke Lewis, allowed the Mohawks to defend home and post a 1-1 tie Wednesday evening at Roy Rogers Field in McDermott.

The Indiana Fever have become one of the most popular teams in the WNBA over the last month or so.
It was revealed earlier this month that at least one women's basketball game had been watched by 2.5 million viewers or more every week since July 12.
Four of the five games to reach the 2.5 million mark involved the Fever, with the other the WNBA All-Star Game.
The Fever are, of course, home to Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, who are two of the most followed players in the league on Instagram.
Clark has been popular for a long time, while Cunningham has experienced a sudden spike in notoriety since the debate around transgender athletes competing in the WNBA began to grow in July.

When the Arizona Cardinals waived Trey Benson with an injury designation on Monday, Aug. 24, it earned them unwanted admission into a dubious club.
Twenty-eight months after they entered the NFL, 96 of the first 100 picks in the 2024 draft remain on active rosters. Benson, now, is among the four castaways — until and unless he gets scooped up elsewhere.
The three others: Ja'Lynn Polk, a second-round wide receiver who finished his rookie season with 12 catches and missed all of his second season with injuries before retiring; Jermaine Burton, a third-round wide receiver who developed a habit of missing practices and was involved in a domestic dispute; and Terrion Arnold, who currently faces the possibility of life in prison on kidnapping and robbery charges.
That is the company Benson currently holds. But most concerningly, he's not alone. For the Cardinals, this may just be the beginning of a week-long purge of former top draft picks.
In that same 2024 draft, the Cardinals selected cornerback Elijah Jones with the 90th pick. They seem to have five roster locks at cornerback, meaning Jones could be competing with Starling Thomas V for one roster spot. If that's the case, Thomas would seem to have the inside edge, despite a poor preseason. He was a reliable contributor in 2024 — something Jones has never been — and may need more time to return to full strength after a torn ACL last July.

Ceiling: If things fall in their favor, how big can they hit in 2026?
Risk: A subjective ranking based on injuries, surrounding injuries, coaching changes, how proven a player is, age, and other factors that bring on uncertainty
Over the last four seasons, when Burrow has been healthy, he's been a top-four fantasy QB. Being healthy has been more of a challenge for the Bengals QB, however. Last season showed both. He dealt with injury from Week 2 to 12 before ripping off five QB1 games in his last six weeks. Cincinnati is a pass-first team, and has shown to be no matter how good or bad its defense has been. Burrow still averaged 38 passing attempts with a top-10 defense in 2022 and since 2021, averages 0.1 fewer PPG when his team holds the opponent under 25 points, compared to when they allow over 25. Volume and skill shouldn't be a problem; it's more about health and how cautious he is on the ground coming off another lower-body injury.

The struggling Wisconsin Badgers football program has a chance to pull off an incredible upset in Week 1.
It's no secret that Notre Dame earned a No. 4 ranking in the preseason AP Poll, but that doesn't automatically mean the Badgers can't come out victorious.
This game is being played at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, so while it's a neutral-site matchup, there's a strong chance this sold-out crowd will heavily favor the Badgers.
Wisconsin shocked the world in 2016 when they took down No. 5 LSU, so here in 2026, they have a chance to do the same, this time against the Fighting Irish on NBC.
NBC Sports recently revealed the announcers for the Shamrock Series, a group that includes the returning Dan Hicks (play-by-play), Jason Garrett (color commentator), and a new sideline reporter, Caroline Pineda.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have developed their team over the decades via the usual ways most teams in the NBA have, finding special success through the NBA draft since their founding as the Seattle SuperSonics. Many of the franchise's top players have joined the team either through direct selections in the annual draft or via trades executed on that day.
On top of this, the Thunder have selected not only several star players through the draft but also a number of notable alumni each offseason. A few colleges have been more prominently represented than others in sourcing those prospects, though OKC has always cast a wide net as well. Both prestigious programs and smaller institutions have consistently contributed high-caliber talent to the Thunder's roster over the years.
So without further ado, let's take a look at every player who has been drafted by the Thunder out of Colorado.

Three former Iowa State greats came to the 54th annual ASICS Falmouth Road Race seeking a win and possibly a course record on Sunday, Aug. 16.
They were blocked by Eritrean running star Habtom Samuel.
Samuel broke Wesley Kiptoo's course record at Falmouth, Massachusetts, by holding off 2019 Cyclone NCAA cross country champion Edwin Kurgat of Kenya. Samuel ran 30:53 to become the first runner to ever break 31 minutes for the 7-mile distance. Kurgat, 30, of Kenya settled for second in 31:04, which also eclipsed Kiptoo's shared record of 31:08 from 2023.
Kurgat leads off this edition of the WEEKEND UPDATE of the best performances by Iowa-based collegiate and post collegiate distance runners and triathletes.
Samuel, 22, and Kurgat broke away from a strong field by mile 5, but the five-time NCAA champion pulled away from the Under Armour Dark Sky Distance athlete based in Flagstaff, Arizona, in his Falmouth debut.

Ketel Marte to return to Arizona for MRI after not showing up for Diamondbacks game Monday originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Arizona Diamondbacks got some really strange news on Monday night, as Ketel Marte didn't show up to the ballpark and was then placed on the restricted list by the D-Backs.
Multiple reports indicated that he flew into Boston with the team, but didn't show up for their game against the Boston Red Sox. The question is, why did he not show up? Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reported that Marte was "OK physically," but that might've changed with the latest report.
Piecoro reported Tuesday morning that Marte is flying back to Arizona, leaving his D-Backs teammates in Boston, to have an MRI on his knee after not showing up for the game Monday night against the Boston Red Sox.
"Ketel Marte is returning to Arizona to undergo an MRI on his knee, according to a source," Piecoro reports.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are starting their road trip off on a strong note at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies, and it was none other than Max Muncy who broke open the floodgates at the plate on Monday, Aug. 17.
In the top of the third inning, Muncy took full advantage of a sinker right down the middle of the plate from Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano and turned on it, sending the ball sailing into the second deck for a three-run home run to open up a five-run lead for LA. Coming in at a Statcast-projected 461 feet, it was the longest home run hit by a Dodger in 2026. The team's previous longest homer this season also belongs to Muncy at Coors Field when he hit one 452 feet on April 17.
Shohei Ohtani matched that with a 452-footer of his own in the top of the sixth on Monday.
Muncy continues to swing the bat well even as the Dodgers have collectively struggled at the plate since the trade deadline, hitting 10-for-44 with three home runs and 11 RBI with a .477 slugging percentage in the month of August while LA has dropped 11 of their last 16 games, including three of a pivotal four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers that could have postseason implications.
"We haven't been good," Muncy told reporters after Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Brewers. "It's one of those stretches. We need urgency. We need to fix some things. … Today really sucked. It was a big game. We kind of needed to win this one, and we didn't. But it's just how it goes."

While Rasheem Biles has yet to play a snap for the Longhorns, he is already making national headlines. The talented senior has been named to the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award for the second straight season. Each year, the award is given to the nation's top linebacker.
Over the last few years, the Longhorns have been well connected to the Butkus Award. Last season Anthony Hill Jr. was a finalist for the honor in his final collegiate season. The last player in program history to win the award, was Derrick Johnson in 2004.
For Biles, the news comes as no surprise given his play. He transferred to Texas in the spring after three years at the University of Pittsburgh. During his time as a Panther, Biles recorded 183 total tackles and 13 pass deflections. He also added three interceptions and 10.5 sacks to his resume. Because of his ability to frustrate opposing offensive coordinators, Biles was a popular player when he entered the portal.
During his time in the ACC, the Ohio native added to his trophy case multiple times. He earned conference honors in 2024 and 2025. Last season, Biles was a 2026 Phil Steele preseason First-Team All-America selection and 2026 Phil Steele preseason First-Team SEC selection.
The newest Longhorn will only have to wait a few months to find out where he stands, as semifinalists for the 2026 Butkus Award will be announced on Oct. 28. Less than a month later, the finalists will be unveiled on Nov. 20. Then in December, the winner will be revealed.

Manchester City have accepted a bid of £65.4m from Barcelona for Rodri.
Spain's World Cup-winning captain is set to leave the Etihad Stadium to join the LaLiga champions and leave City with the question of how to replace him.
Barcelona had two previous offers for Rodri refused with City deeming the first, of just £38.4m, not serious but their third bid matched City's valuation.
Rodri, who had been reluctant to sign a new deal, has entered the last year of his contract and City risked losing him on a free transfer if he was not sold this summer.
Now they will have two weeks to find a replacement. They are interested in Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Lille manager Davide Ancelotti saying there have been talks about the Moroccan midfielder, and Enzo Fernandez.
