New offensive talents Andrei Kuzmenko and Nick Robertson are dotted among the forward corps' bottom six, and new blue-liners Trevor van Riemsdyk and Kaedan Korczak will slot in to replace key depth pieces. The most important change, though, might be the fact that the net will be turned over to young Arturs Silovs.
The 25-year-old split netminding duties with a veteran partner for the entirety of last season — first with Tristan Jarry and then Stuart Skinner following the trade that brought the two-time Cup finalist to Pittsburgh. It was Skinner who got the start for the first few games of the post-season, before Silovs took over and nearly pulled Pittsburgh back from an 0-3 series deficit. The LA Dodgers lost Game 2 of the three-game series against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Saturday night. Detroit won 2-1 on a walk-off hit in the ninth. Pitcher Tyler Glasnow made his return to the Los Angeles Dodgers, taking the mound for the back-to-back World Series champions on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
He was activated Tuesday after dealing with back spasms since May.
"I like where he is at; he had a good rehab and threw the ball really well," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told SportsNet LA before the road game against the Atlanta Braves. "Seeing him get into the sixth inning is our goal. Our bullpen is in a good spot, and I know Tyler's anxious to get back."
Glasnow allowed five hits and three earned runs while striking out seven in five innings pitched.
He quickly got reacquainted with the big-league setting, allowing three runs in the first inning. He settled in, though, and left the game with the score tied at 3.

Well, that will get your blood pressure up.
Bottom of the ninth, Jays up by one. Louis Varland in. Jazz Chisholm Jr. leads off with a double to the wall in center. But he strikes out Austin Wells (with Wells using the Yankees' last challenge on the strike three pitch). A ground out got us two out (very nice pickup by Vlad on a short hop), but Chisholm went to third in there. But Louis got Trent Grisham to strikeout to end the game. Amazing job, Varland.
We got yet another great start from Dylan Cease. He had a no-hitter going until two outs in the seventh inning. But a walk and two singles scored a run and ended his day. He had five walks and 8 strikeouts. More walks than you'd like, but a terrific outing. Sportsnet says Cease had a 42 inning shutout streak on the road.
Spencer Miles got the last out of the seventh.

The news comes from a report in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The agreement is not a long-term deal and was made through SportsNet Pittsburgh's operator, NESN. The Pittsburgh Penguins have also committed to SNP for the 2026-27 season, but have not made long-term plans.
The Pirates and Penguins continue to enjoy strong local ratings on SNP. SNP and NESN president and CEO David Wisnia told the Post-Gazette that the Penguins ranked second among all NHL teams in terms of local broadcast ratings, while the Pirates rank fifth among MLB teams. Seven NHL teams aired their games fully over the air last season.
The Pirates have been with SNP since 1986, when the network was then known as Pirates Cable Network. The network has undergone several name changes, operating under the Fox Sports brand from 1996 to 2011, Root Sports from 2011 to 2017, and AT&T SportsNet from 2017 to 2023.

Some understandably pessimistic fans in western Pennsylvania surely harbor fear that the fifth figure, Paul Skenes, will end up in Dodger blue one day as well.
But if that list was a reminder — as if anybody needed another — of the preposterous talent gilding L.A.'s star-studded roster, Skubal's ordinary performance on Monday in his first home start as a Dodger emphasized that nothing in this wonky sport is preordained.
Pitching in front of a revved up, eager audience, Skubal was downright mediocre in L.A.'s 6-5 victory over the Royals.
His fastball command was, by his cathedral standards, scattershot. He struggled to locate the four-seamer consistently at and just above the top rail, right where the world-beating southpaw makes his bread. All that's worth talking about happened in the top of the seventh. Red Sox down 2-0. Game is going along quickly. All is well.
Anthony Seigler singled off Simeon Woods Richardson to lead off the inning. Connor Wong also singled. Nick Sogard lined one at Vladimir Guerrero, who got the ball on a hop and got the first out on a force at second.
Then…..true weirdness. The scoreboard, apparently showed two outs. Truly that's really neither here nor there, as my dad would say. It is a none issue.
Ceddanne Rafaela hit a fly ball to center field. Both the runner on first and the runner on third took off before the catch. The Boston Red Sox scored one of the most bizarre runs you'll see in a baseball game thanks to a scoreboard error and some major mental mistakes from everyone on the field.
On Monday, the Red Sox were visiting the Toronto Blue Jays for a mid-August AL East series. With the Blue Jays up 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning, the Red Sox were looking to get on the scoresheet with runners on first and third with one out. While the broadcast graphics clearly said there was one out in the top of the seventh, the center field scoreboard in Toronto incorrectly displayed that there were two outs when Ceddanne Rafaela was up to bat.
What then happened was complete chaos. Rafaela popped the ball up to center field, yet the two Red Sox runners started to run the bases like there were two outs, with Anthony Seigler running to home without tagging at third. The Blue Jays also seemed confused as to how many outs there were, as they correctly executed the double play, but pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson and catcher Brandon Valenzuela started to walk off the field after the catch like the inning was over.
As expected, this created incredible confusion on the field in Toronto as the umpire attempted to sort things out, even going to a rules check in New York due to the weirdness of it all.
At the end of a 15 minute delay, the umpires announced that the Red Sox ended up earning a run on Seigler crossing home even though he didn't tag third. But why? Well, according to Sportsnet reporter Hazel Mae who talked to Max Scherzer, the Blue Jays were waved off by the home plate umpire and then couldn't appeal the decision because Richardson and Valenzuela walked off the field.
