The best time to refinance is when your credit score or overall financial situation has improved.
Generally, you should aim to either lower your interest rate or your monthly payment — preferably both.
Avoid refinancing when auto loan rates are high or if you won't be able to save money by switching lenders.
It makes sense to consider refinancing your auto loan if you can lower your interest rate and monthly payment. The refinancing process involves swapping your current loan for a new loan with different — and ideally better — terms.
However, refinancing is not always a wise financial move. If interest rates are high, or if you're close to paying off your loan, then it may make more sense to stick with your current lender. Knowing the ins and outs of when to refinance and when to wait will help you make the best decision for refinancing your auto loan.

The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) lost a key New Jersey water-quality certification for Northeast Supply Enhancement, or NESE, after a September 8 federal appeals court ruling reported by Reuters on September 9. The Third Circuit vacated the certification and returned the matter to state regulators. The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) said that, at this time, it did not expect the ruling to adversely affect construction or the anticipated in-service timeline.
The project, which Reuters described as costing approximately $1 billion, expands the existing Transco network through Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) continues to target fourth-quarter 2027 service. The investment question is whether the permit review can be resolved quickly enough to protect both that schedule and the economics of the investment.
The commercial rationale rests on delivering additional gas into a constrained market. The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) says demand continues to grow in areas including Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island. Planned capacity of approximately 400,000 dekatherms per day would expand the system's ability to serve those markets.
NESE also builds on existing infrastructure. The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB) plans pipeline loops, compressor work, and connections to the Transco system. Those connections give the added capacity access to an established transportation network and regional delivery points, although substantial construction remains necessary.
The remand leaves a route for reconsideration by New Jersey regulators. For The Williams Companies, Inc. (NYSE:WMB), the favorable scenario is a replacement certification that addresses the court's findings without requiring substantial redesign or disrupting the construction sequence.

The broader benchmark S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) has seemingly hit a wall over the past month, down about 2.3%.
On the whole, the S&P 500 is still having a decent year, but considering the Iran war and high inflation expectations, among other concerns, it's not hard to see why investors and market strategists have grown concerned.

Recently, one of Wall Street's most bullish strategists trimmed his S&P 500 price target for the year.
Ed Yardeni of Yardeni Research recently slashed his forecast from 8,400 to 7,900, which suggests minimal upside in the final 3.5 months of the year, with the index already around 7,600. 8,400 had been the highest price target on the Street.

Interested in Walmart Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
Target trades at roughly 15 times earnings with a 3% yield, presenting value relative to Walmart and Costco ahead of the holiday season.
Aggressive price cuts on over 10,000 items and October Deal Days discounts of up to 40% could drive market-beating Q3 and holiday results.
Dividend growth exceeding 50 years, buyback capacity, and heavy institutional ownership near 80% help limit downside risk into 2026.
Believe it or not, the holiday shopping season is here, so it's time to consider the best plays. As it stands, seasonal sales growth is expected to accelerate year over year to 4.55% to 4.8%, topping $1.7 trillion for the first time, underpinned as always by e-commerce. Digital sales are expected to top 8% seasonally and may outpace expectations as AI adoption accelerates. Hyperscalers, business services, and merchants are embedding AI throughout the digital retail stack, and it is resonating with consumers. An estimated 25% to 30% of shoppers say they will use AI this season for help with research, price comparisons, and budgeting.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly considering a big move that could reshape the company. The Information reported on Wednesday that the iPhone maker was considering developing its own artificial intelligence server, which would be Apple's first activity in the enterprise server market since 2011.
The proposal would combine Apple's custom silicon with networking technology supplied by Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) to develop AI servers that could be offered with either two or four M8 Ultra chips, which are Apple's top-performing processors, and geared specifically for AI inference.

Wall Street has spent years obsessing over when the Federal Reserve will lower interest rates, but billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller thinks investors may be asking the wrong question.
The senior macro investor argues that U.S. interest rates are already too low and that future rate cuts aren't essential, according to the Financial Times.
His argument comes at a critical period.
Treasury bonds have been under selling pressure amid inflation fears, growing U.S. public debt, and considerable bond issuance by artificial intelligence startups, CNBC noted. And it puts the focus of market chatter back on borrowing rates.
Druckenmiller's warning came at a Piper Sandler conference in New York, where he also targeted Federal Reserve officials who say current monetary policy is restrictive.

Investors continue to ask for more timely information, even as the volume available to them expands. A 2026 CFA Institute survey of 2,500 **** ysts and portfolio managers found that 62% opposed replacing quarterly reporting with semiannual reporting. Nearly 85% expressed concern about comparability if companies and investment managers could determine their own reporting frequency and format. Access remains important, while interpretation requires a separate discipline.
The demand also concerns the quality of disclosure. PwC's 2025 Global Investor Survey, covering 1,074 investment professionals across 26 countries and territories, found that only 37% believed companies disclosed enough about artificial intelligence strategies and policies. Respondents wanted greater transparency around innovation strategies, AI investment, and expected returns. These findings suggest that investors can face abundant commentary while still lacking the evidence needed to **** s a thesis.
Commercial incentives add another layer. A 2025 CFA Institute report examined continuation funds, in which a manager can oversee both the vehicle selling an **** et and the vehicle buying it. The report recognized the structure's liquidity role and identified conflicts requiring fair processes and governance. The example illustrates why informed **** ysis and aligned incentives are separate considerations.
That distinction applies beyond any single investment structure. Managers often possess valuable operational knowledge because they work directly with **** ets, tenants and financing markets. They may also be raising capital for the strategies they discuss. Their commercial interest becomes additional context for investors weighing forecasts, market narratives and recommendations alongside independently produced evidence. That context can help an investment committee separate a source's knowledge of the market from the confidence it should place in the source's preferred outcome during capital allocation.
Geoffrey Dohrmann, chairman, CEO and editor-in-chief of Institutional Real Estate, Inc., has watched those narratives develop across several market cycles. IREI is a media and market intelligence company covering institutional real estate and infrastructure through publications, research, data, events and consulting. Dohrmann explains its editorial role as independently recording where real-asset capital is moving and examining the explanations offered for those decisions.

Business executives consider artificial intelligence a leading tool for decision-making, with 61% citing large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot among the sources that most influence their strategic decisions, AI enterprise planning platform Board said in a report released Wednesday.
The finding was most ***** ounced among CFOs, with 69% citing LLMs among the resources that inform their decisions, compared with 58% of chief operating officers and 56% of chief information officers.
"CFOs, by nature, are typically a little bit more conservative and skeptical, so I think what this shows is that the AI wave is so strong that it can't be ignored," Board CFO Gordon Pothier said in an interview.
The findings come just a few years after ChatGPT burst onto the market, highlighting how quickly advanced AI tools have reshaped the way businesses operate and make decisions.

Sept 16 (Reuters) - Surging government bond yields are raising credit costs across the U.S. economy and could factor into Federal Reserve monetary policy deliberations, but ***** ysts see the central bank resisting any explicit call from the Trump administration to bail out the market.
The focus on the Fed's possible involvement comes as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has taken an ‌unusually activist role in trying to tamp down rising yields he considers to be misaligned with the U.S. economic outlook.
Bessent's campaign, which saw the expansion of a key debt buyback operation last week, ‌is foundering, as the 10-year Treasury note rose above 5% to its highest since 2007. He shrugged the move off as owing to "global issues" on Tuesday as he arrived for a congressional hearing.
Treasury's bond market travails are raising questions whether the Fed might be requested to buy government debt to reduce supply, which could cap or lower yields, in turn easing government and private sector borrowing costs.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bipartisan bill aimed at shielding Americans from increased electricity costs **** ociated with data centers being built across the country.
The Ratepayer Protection Act, which passed with an overwhelming 417-3 majority, "ensures American families are not left footing the bill for the grid upgrades and new energy generation required to operate large data centers," Republican Rep. Gabe Evans, one of the bill's sponsors, said ahead of the vote.
The bill now moves to the Senate, where its prospects of passing are uncertain.
The Ratepayer Protection Act is the first major piece of legislation taken up by Congress to address the growing public discontent over the mass buildout of data centers among the American public. Even if it passes, though, it won't directly set the rates that data center operators pay for their electricity.
Congress doesn't have the power to compel utilities to set higher rates for the facilities. Only states have that authority. What the Ratepayer Protection Act would do is compel state utility regulators to consider adopting a federal standard under which large data centers would cover the extra costs of upgrades. The bill is comparable to a proclamation signed by President Trump earlier this year that established a similar voluntary pledge for tech companies.

When a caller inquired about SoFi Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOFI) during the September 10 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer commented:
Well, you know, it's a financial tech. It's a bank, but let's put it this way: It's doing as well as it can, but it has a very high price-to-earnings multiple versus the others in its cohort. So, it's going to mark time until the earnings continue to go up. I do like the company. I like the management. I wouldn't mind you owning it for the long term.
SoFi Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOFI) reported record second-quarter adjusted net revenue of $1.2 billion, up 40% year over year, while GAAP net income rose 61% to $156.6 million. Adjusted EBITDA increased 44% to $358 million. Loan originations reached a record $14.8 billion, while members increased 35% to 15.8 million and deposits reached $45.5 billion. Moreover, at the September 8 Goldman Sachs conference, CFO Chris Lapointe said SoFi generated approximately 40% year-over-year revenue growth in each of the first two quarters and approximately 30% adjusted EBITDA margins. He also said the company had outpaced the Rule of 40 for 20 consecutive quarters. Additionally, the company raised its 2026 adjusted net revenue outlook to $4.75 billion to $4.85 billion but maintained its adjusted EPS outlook at $0.60.
A concern is that SoFi Technologies, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:SOFI) earnings growth may not be sufficient to justify the multiple investors are paying. SoFi is trading at a premium valuation compared to its traditional banking peers, with Yahoo Finance's latest data showing a trailing P/E of 35.12 and a forward P/E of 21.51. That valuation leaves the shares sensitive to a slowdown in earnings growth. Credit performance is another important consideration as SoFi expands its lending business. For the six months ended June 30, total net charge-offs were $406.1 million, up $77.2 million from the prior-year period, while the total net charge-off ratio declined to 1.91% from 2.24%. The increase in charge-offs was driven primarily by higher personal-loan net charge-offs and student-loan net charge-offs, reflecting growth in average loans.
According to Insider Monkey, which tracks more than 1,000 hedge funds, 44 hedge funds held SoFi in Q2, down from 47 in Q1. Its short interest stood at about 14% to 15% of the float. SoFi Technologies, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:SOFI) growth and improving profitability give Cramer's long-term view a fundamental basis, but its valuation still leaves the stock dependent on continued earnings growth. The company's ability to turn strong revenue and loan growth into higher earnings will remain important to the stock's valuation.

Answering a caller's query about The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) during the lightning round of the September 10 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer said:
It's a tough stock. It's a tough stock because they don't have the growth that I want. They do have the 3% yield, but that's not enough. So, I'm going to say, you know, we sold it for the club. Don't look back.
The Procter & Gamble Company's (NYSE:PG) upside relies on elite operational execution and pricing power in high-margin categories. Continuous supply chain savings and an aggressive premiumization push toward items like Tide PODS help protect profitability. Combined with strong free cash flow productivity, management returned roughly $15 billion in FY 2026 through dividends and share buybacks, ensuring a steady earnings floor despite slow top-line growth.
The primary headwind is weak top-line momentum, with organic sales flat in the second quarter as challenging consumer trends, particularly in the U.S., weighed on growth. Foreign exchange friction and cost pressures further cap near-term earnings acceleration. Additionally, while the stock offers a reliable 3% dividend yield, that income profile creates a steep opportunity cost when risk-free ******* ets and higher-growth stocks offer attractive returns. We recently discussed what Cramer thinks is the ideal valuation for a good entry point in our article, "Jim Cramer Discusses Procter & Gamble (PG) Valuation and Growth."
According to Insider Monkey's data, 83 hedge funds had a stake in The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) in Q2 compared to 78 in the prior quarter. Short percentage of the float is 1.21%, showing its status as a defensive holding rather than a short target. While the company provides exceptional balance sheet stability and reliable cash returns for defensive portfolios, its modest top-line growth trajectory and premium valuation continue to test investor patience, validating Cramer's decision to reallocate capital toward faster-moving opportunities.

Two former Robinhood engineers allegedly used confidential information about upcoming cryptocurrency listings to make profitable trades on decentralized exchange Hyperliquid, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
Hefu Chai, 36, and Huaisong "Jerry" Xiang, 30, each face one count of commodities fraud and one count of wire fraud.
"Today's charges make clear that corporate insiders cannot evade the securities and commodities laws by trading based on misappropriated information in derivatives like perpetual futures, tokenized securities, or other similar financial instruments," U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said in a statement.
Perpetual futures, or "perps," let traders speculate on an **** et's price—often with leverage—without owning it. Unlike conventional futures, the derivatives do not expire. Hyperliquid is one of the largest decentralized platforms for trading perps and has faced increased regulatory scrutiny.
According to the DOJ, the engineers allegedly used nonpublic information about upcoming Robinhood Crypto token listings to buy related perpetual futures before the announcements, earning profits "for their own benefit" between 2025 and 2026. Each defendant earned more than $50,000 from the alleged scheme, the Justice Department said.

The move is aimed at shoring up their economies in the face of increasing trade tensions with the United States. But Trump said Wednesday the US could put “heavy tariffs” on the European Union if he considers any new agreement with Canada to be a “hostile act.”
“If it’s a good intention, that’s fine. If it’s a bad intention, we’ll put very heavy tariffs on Europe, which is a possibility,” he told reporters.

In some markets, it costs less to rent than to buy — by a lot. And it could be a great way to save a ton of money during your retirement years.
Mortgage and financial consultant Cody Schuiteboer of Best Interest Financial said many retirees never even consider renting as a serious option.
"There is an unshakeable mentality that buying is always the right choice, but the opposite is often true in retirement," he said. "If renting is actually cheaper in that market, renting lets retirees stretch their nest egg further."
MoneyLion ran the rent-versus-ownership numbers in the top retirement destinations along the East Coast and found the cities offering the greatest savings to renters. The homeownership numbers ****** umed a 10% down payment and a 6.53% interest rate, using average home price and rent numbers from Zillow.

On September 9, American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (NYSE:AEO) revealed results for its fiscal 2026 second quarter. The company achieved an 8% year-over-year topline growth with net revenue figures of $1.38 billion. The second quarter operating profit jumped up to $211 million compared to $103 million during the same period last year. As a result, diluted earnings per share for the quarter stood at $0.79 in comparison with $0.45 for Q2 FY25. This led to a $21 million distribution to shareholders with a dividend payout of $0.125 per share.
Africa Studio/Shutterstock.com
A resilient performance during the second quarter was primarily driven by robust momentum within the Aerie sub-brand and OFFLINE collection. There was a 6% year-over-year growth in company-wide comparable sales, whereas the Aerie's comparable sales picked up by 19%. Total gross profit for the quarter reached $672 million, which shows a 34% increase against $500 million for Q2 FY25. This pushed Q2 gross margins to 48.7%, a jump of 980 basis points relative to the previous year's quarter, despite 330 basis points deleveraging across the merchandise margins. Compared to an 8% operating margin in Q2 FY25, the company posted 15.3% margin in the recent period.
Even with a slight dip in comparable sales, the American Eagle brand also exhibited some encouraging signs. It posted sequential gains from the previous quarter, which marks the fourth consecutive quarter of expansion across menswear.
Results for the reported period were bolstered by $196 million in International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff refunds, which also included interest payments. This resulted in an additional $35 million in incentive compensation set aside by the company, which affected both gross profit and SG&A. After taking these additional expenses into consideration, the overall operating income gains related to tariff refunds amounted to $161 million.

Committee Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., introduced the 114-page Digital ***** et Tax Certainty Act, or H.R. 10357. The committee has scheduled its markup for 10 a.m. Eastern on Sept. 16.
During a markup, committee members debate a bill, propose amendments, and decide whether to advance it to the full House.
The legislation would create a "de minimis" exemption for qualifying network or transaction fees of $10 or less. De minimis refers to an amount considered too small to require standard tax treatment.
Paying a blockchain fee with crypto can create a taxable event because the IRS treats digital ***** ets as property. The exemption would allow taxpayers to disregard gains or losses on eligible fees.

When it comes to long-term success with dividend investing, you need to focus on criteria beyond just yield. While some high yield dividend stocks can be worth the risk, there are plenty that are trading at a high yield for a good reason.
That is, either they are at risk of cutting or suspending their payouts, and/or other risks may lead to stock price declines that outweigh the returns generated by their large payouts. So, instead of focusing on yield alone, consider criteria such as dividend coverage and dividend growth, along with metrics like valuation.

Alluvium ***** et Management, an ***** et management company, released its "Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund" second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The second quarter reflected a sharp shift from geopolitical uncertainty and oil market volatility to a powerful equity rally led by semiconductor companies. Despite the broader market strength, the Fund declined 1.4% in EUR terms, 2.2% in USD terms, and 3.9% in AUD terms. Portfolio results were mixed, with Alphabet benefiting from strong Cloud growth, while Robert Half, H&R Block and other holdings posted solid gains. However, cable businesses and several healthcare and consumer holdings weighed on performance. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund highlighted Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT). Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) is an online auction and vehicle remarketing services company. On September 14, 2026, Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) closed at $30.75 per share. Over the past month, Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) returned 0.14%, while its shares lost 32.24% over the past 52 weeks. Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) has a market capitalization of $29.65 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $26.81 and $48.96.
Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund stated the following regarding Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Once again, the most significant and interesting news for investors is a new position we initiated. On this occasion, it is Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT, the car wrecker turned auction platform (down 15.1% over the quarter). Copart has grown from a small single auto salvage yard in Vallejo, California in 1982 to a car auction technology platform selling over 4 million cars per year, predominantly on behalf of large insurance companies. We were alerted to this business by our quantitative screen - where it appeared a compelling opportunity (ten year sales growth of 17.4% and 19.1% profit growth, negligible debt, and mid 30's returns on invested capital), so we explored the business in greater depth. Our synopsis: It is a top notch business operating in a duopoly, but with little scope for domestic growth significant enough to move the needle. Most of Copart's revenue stems from its services to insurance companies for selling their vehicles which they classify to be "total losses". So, when it comes to ***** ysing the long term viability of its business, we think there are two key considerations. There is the likely growth rate of automobile accidents. We expect this to gradually decline as a result of increased adoption of autonomous driving, which is known to have lower crash rates than human-driven vehicles. Then there is the proportion of future collisions that are likely to result in cars being classified as "total losses".
