Sebastian Vettel drove Michael Schumacher's Ferrari F2002 at Monza before the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, but the emotional weight of such a thing became much larger than the driving itself. Meyer Shank Racing has confirmed that Mick Schumacher will join the team for the 2027 IndyCar season. After Indianapolis 500 champion Felix Rosenqvist left MSR for Arrow McLaren, MSR has decided that Schumacher will be his replacement.
Schumacher is out the door at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing after RLL agreed to sell one of its three charters to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing ahead of the 2027 season. With Graham Rahal and Louis Foster already under contract at RLL, Schumacher was the odd man out after just one season with the team. Now he'll become Marcus Armstrong's teammate at MSR.
"I'm super excited to be working with everyone at Meyer Shank Racing and really excited to be joining such an ambitious team," Schumacher said in a news release. "It's going to be a special journey to start working with MSR. I am looking forward to what more I can learn from the team. They've had some really great success, and of course, going to an Indy 500-winning team is awesome.
"It will be great to start meeting everyone on the team and working with MSR's partners. I'm really just excited to begin working toward 2027 together and really start thinking about how we can create a great partnership together."
Schumacher will pilot MSR's No. 66 Honda, which Armstrong has driven for the past two years. When Armstrong signed a multiyear extension with the team in July, MSR announced that he'd switch to Rosenqvist's car, the No. 60 Honda.

As per the FIA published figures, Ferrari are allowed to two Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) in 2026 after it was found to be over 4% down on power and performance when compared to the best F1 power unit on the grid, that happens to be Red Bull Ford.
They fall in the same club as Audi and Honda to be allowed for two updates, with Mercedes allowed only one. Ferrari brought its first push in Austria and has confirmed the second and final of F1 2026 in this weekend's Italian GP at Monza, where power is crucial element.
Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have stressed on the power deficit on Ferrari side. They are happy with the work done on the chassis side, which has helped them to be second in the F1 constructors' championship. The team is taking a gamble by deploying its update so soon.
There are still plenty of races to go in F1 2026. But they seem to be confident about their step. This also clears the way for larger development focus in 2027. "Saturday was a tough one to take but that was even worse because we were away from home against a top team with top players, with a lot who have played in the Premier League.
"We're disappointed to lose the game, certainly in that manner because the goals we conceded were at really bad times, having just taken the lead, and then to concede one in the last minute when we've dominated the second half is an absolute killer.
"I told the players it's an absolute must that we get out of the dressing room with our heads held high because we can compete at this level if we play the way we did, but we have to learn quick."

Former Formula 1 team principal Otmar Szafnauer believes Max Verstappen is continuing to improve and has still not reached his peak performance.
During an episode of the High Performance Racing podcast alongside host Jake Humphrey and former Ferrari race engineer Rob Smedley, Szafnauer discussed the standout drivers he has encountered during his career in the paddock.
When Humphrey prompted the panel to name the greatest drivers they had worked alongside and competed against, Szafnauer named four-time champion Sebastian Vettel as the best driver he had worked with before turning his attention to the fiercest rivals he had faced while on the pitwall.
"Greatest I worked with, Vettel. Greatest I went up against, tough either Michael [Schumacher] or Lewis [Hamilton]," Szafnauer explained.

Louis Foster chances for his first IndyCar Series win came to an abrupt end near the halfway point of the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.
After starting on pole, the 23-year-old Briton was out front and in control of the 90-lap race. An untimely caution during the pit cycle caught Foster before he had stopped, while several rivals had already pitted, dropping him down the order after he came in from the lead on lap 33.
Two further cautions over the next seven laps set up a charge from Foster on the lap-40 restart. He propelled by the likes of reigning and four-time IndyCar champion Alex Palou, Will Power, and Graham Rahal, among others, to move from eighth to fourth.

Felix Rosenqvist and Will Power walked away from the Grand Prix of Portland with second- and third-place podium finishes, but their post-race focus remained squarely on traffic nightmares, with both drivers taking aim at IndyCar's approach to backmarkers.
Rosenqvist started on pole in the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda, commanding the early pace and leading 33 laps. However, a combination of a tight exit from his pit box near rookie Mick Schumacher's crew and an overcut strategy by winner Alex Palou relegated him to second position.

No Championship head coach will have his side where they want them to be at this stage of pre-season, according to Bolton Wanderers boss Steven Schumacher.
The Trotters are preparing for their return to the Championship after beating Stockport County in the League One play-off final in May.
They beat Oldham Athletic 3-1 in their second pre-season friendly on Wednesday night having returned from a training camp in Slovakia last week.
"I don't think there's any team or manager standing here now saying they're exactly where they want to be," Schumacher told BBC Radio Manchester.
"We're still a long way physically from where we need to get to, tactically we still need to work on a few things. Defensively we've looked solid enough, really well organised and the attitude to defend has been really good."

After just two training sessions, the BVB Women kicked off their summer preparations with a 5–2 friendly win against Eintracht Frankfurt II. Three new signings—Lara Schmidt, Ramona Maier, and Jacqueline Meißner—all scored in their first appearance for the Black and Yellows. Ahead of the friendly against Bundesliga promoted side Mainz 05, the head coach explained: “During the first week of training, there was still too much initial frantic activity in some situations. We’re improving from session to session and are looking forward to a hard-fought test against the Mainz women.”
A perfect start for the Black and Yellows: Markus Högner’s team came out determined and started energetically at the Hopfgarten sports field. For the first time since IndyCar introduced its charter system in 2025, one of the 25 available charters has been sold. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing is selling one of its three charters to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, which will return as a full-time IndyCar team for the first time since 2012.
After Dreyer & Reinbold Racing owner Dennis Reinbold died in June, the team has continued operations and worked to become a full-time team, which Reinbold was working toward before his death. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing CEO Derek Reinbold worked with RLL's ownership group of by Bobby Rahal, Mike Lanigan and David Letterman to complete the deal.
"I want to thank Bobby Rahal, Mike Lanigan, David Letterman, and (RLL president) Jay Frye for the way they approached this from our very first conversation," Reinbold said in a news release. "They treated this as a partnership between two organizations that want to see each other succeed, and this announcement today reflects that.
"The NTT IndyCar Series is in the strongest position it has been in for decades, and that is a direct result of Roger Penske's stewardship and leadership. The growth of this series, on the track and off, made this the right moment for our team to return to full-time racing. My dad built Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and poured his life into it, and our family has been part of the Speedway for four generations. Competing for a full season again is the truest way we can honor his legacy, and we intend to make him proud."

Bolton Wanderers have appointed Rob Kelly as their ******* istant manager who will once again work alongside boss Steven Schumacher.
The highly-experienced Kelly, 61, worked with Schumacher at Bury and together they won promotion for the Shakers from League Two in 2019.
Kelly also had spells in charge of Leicester City and Barrow and was ******* istant to a number of managers, including Steve McClaren, Alan Irvine, Uwe Rosler and, most recently, Leam Richardson at Reading.
Schumacher claims he will bring great knowledge to his coaching set-up at Bolton, following their promotion to the Championship.
"Rob is somebody I've known and respected in coaching for a long time now and he has been a huge part of my coaching journey," he told the Bolton club website.

The wedding comes around 19 months after Schumacher came out publicly, and four months after the couple confirmed their engagement.
Cameras from Sky and Wow filmed the ceremony for a documentary series following the couple.
