If you had the chance to ask your favorite celebrity any question, what would you ask? At Allrecipes, when we get that opportunity, it should come as no surprise that we're always wondering what's on their plates. We love to learn what actors, television hosts, and other professionally busy people eat on their days on, days off, and all other days in between.
Savannah Guthrie is no exception. The "Today" co-anchor, The New York Times best-selling author, and self-proclaimed "recovering attorney" is one busy woman. Her days start early—and we mean really early—and when she's not on duty at "Today", she's busy keeping up with her daughter, Vale (12), and son, Charley (9). So what's on her menu?
When we sat down with Guthrie for the Fall 2023 issue of Allrecipes magazine, she told us all about how she tends to mix it up at dinnertime. Living in New York City, she frequents Mediterranean, Thai, and Mexican restaurants in her neighborhood, but also still loves a good burger, fries, and milkshake ("I love a milkshake more than is reasonable for someone my age to love."). But when it comes to lunch, she keeps it simple.
"Embarrassingly, I eat [the same thing] for lunch every single day of the week." And she wasn't exaggerating—Guthrie even had it in her purse when we chatted. What's more—it's not a gourmet offering or one from a niche NYC deli. It's from a fast food chain we all frequent. So which sandwich secured the spot? None other than a breakfast offering from Starbucks.
Guthrie turns to the Bacon-Style Turkey, Cheddar & Egg White Sandwich from Starbucks every day at lunchtime. On first glance, it seems like the ideal grab-and-go lunch alongside a coffee in the morning. Since we at Allrecipes wholeheartedly believe anything good enough for Guthrie is good enough for us, I decided to give it a try.

CLEVELAND — Guardians manager Stephen Vogt is using Major League Baseball's Players' Weekend to spread awareness for two charities that are near and dear to his family's heart.
MLB's Players' Weekend will run Aug. 21-23. During these three days, players, coaches and managers are able to utilize custom gear (bats, gloves, cleats, catcher's equipment and more) along with individualized name plates on the backs of jerseys. The Guardians will be in Colorado to play the Rockies during this stretch.
Those partaking in Players' Weekend also have the option of auctioning off custom gear to benefit charities.
Vogt will be using that time to wear custom shoes in an effort to bring awareness to the Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio.
"It's a cool opportunity just to spotlight two unbelievable organizations that help a lot of people in different ways," Vogt said.

Drivers caught speeding, using illegal number plates and creating excessive noise have been targeted in a police road safety operation.
During roadside checks in Plymouth on 6 August, Devon and Cornwall Police identified seven vehicles with illegal number plates. Two drivers were caught speeding on West Hoe Road, while six were found exceeding the limit on Millbay Road and three on Durnford Street.
Seven motorcyclists had bikes fitted with illegal exhausts that created excessive noise. The riders have been given a week to fit legal exhaust systems and pass a further MoT test, officers said.
The action followed concerns from residents about antisocial driving, said police.
Police said several vehicles failed to stop when signalled by officers.

A Virginia man's anti-police license plate is at the center of what could be a landmark First Amendment case, following a federal appeals court ruling in his favor last month.
Virginia motorist Curtis M. Whateley says he has a free speech right to keep his customized license plate, which reads "FTP&ATF," an abbreviation that foul-mouthed puzzle-solvers will decipher as "Fuck the police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms." The State of Virginia argues that it has the right to revoke Whateley's plate because license plates are government-owned, not a public soapbox. The state says it's going to take its case to the Supreme Court.
The case highlights a niche, often amusing, but still consequential issue in First Amendment law: whether a vanity license plate is private or government speech.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2015 that Texas could deny a group's application for a specialty license plate design showing the Confederate flag. Most U.S. district courts and state courts interpreting the decision have held that, while government-run vanity plate programs are a nonpublic forum, the specific character combination of the plate is private speech, which restricts the government from censorship based on viewpoint.
But until the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit issued an opinion on Whateley's case on July 31, no federal appeals court had ruled on the matter, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia (ACLU-VA), which is representing Whateley. The three-judge panel unanimously found Virginia's personalized license plate messages are private speech subject to First Amendment protection.

King Charles reportedly takes unusual control over his daily meals. His former head chef, Visen Anenden, says the monarch stays closely involved and pays attention to where his ingredients come from. Anenden, who served as Charles' head chef for nearly a decade, told Marie Claire that the King has a genuine passion for food and takes a keen interest in what he eats.
According to Anenden, as reported by The Royal Observer, Charles prefers seasonal ingredients and often sources produce directly from royal estates. "He's very seasonal, and everything comes from the estate," Anenden explained. "He always wants to know where something has come from, so menus were very particular."
The chef said the menus could also change depending on where the royal family stayed. Meals at Balmoral, for example, could look very different from those served at Highgrove. When the family stayed at Balmoral, Anenden said the kitchen relied heavily on what the estate's garden could provide.
"It would be only what you could source from the garden," he explained. That approach gave Anenden and his team a practical lesson in farm-to-table cooking. "You really learn how the farm-to-fork aspect works, and it's a phenomenal lesson for a chef!" he said.
Anenden also revealed how much food Charles and Queen Camilla eat. The former chef said they watch their diets closely and usually avoid large portions. "The thing with the royals is that they don't eat a lot," he said. "It was always small portions. It's never substantial, loaded plates at all, never," he added.

King Charles and Queen Camilla may have access to almost any meal imaginable, but their former personal chef says their daily plates were far less extravagant than people might expect. Visen Anenden, who served as Charles' head chef for nine and a half years, revealed that the couple favored small portions, traditional dishes and ingredients sourced directly from the royal estates. While Charles had a particular weakness for savory soufflés, Camilla preferred roast chicken and would even visit the kitchen to explain exactly how she liked it prepared.
Francis Dias/Newspix International / MEGACredit: Francis Dias/Newspix Internation / MEGA
Speaking to Heart Bingo Online, Anenden said portion control remained a consistent feature of meals prepared for Charles and Camilla. "The thing with the royals is that they don't eat a lot," the chef explained. "It was always small portions. It's never substantial, loaded plates at all, never."
Even a traditional Sunday roast was reportedly kept relatively light. Rather than filling their plates with several helpings, Charles and Camilla would typically receive two slices of meat, roast potatoes and light Yorkshire puddings.
Anenden believes their smaller meals partly reflect an awareness of their health and public appearance. "I think they control their diet, and they're conscious of how they look and present themselves," he said. "They're very conscious of their diet."

Mondi has introduced a packaging format that pairs a corrugated outer carton with recyclable flexible packaging marked by laser.
The design is aimed at e-commerce and bag-in-box uses and can be applied to several flexible packaging formats to support circularity and form supply chains.
Artwork is added directly to the flexible packaging during converting through laser marking technology, removing the need for standard decorative printing and printing plates.
Mondi said this makes it easier to customise packs, update artwork quickly and adjust designs in response to shifts in market demand and consumer preferences.
The format can be used across different flexible packaging types, including reels, pre-made pouches such as the re/cycle StripPouch, and larger pre-made bags.

There was something humorous about the NFL's transaction wire including that Aaron Donald, who might get his number retired by the Los Angeles Rams someday, having an official workout with the Rams.
Donald has been considering a comeback, and for those hoping to see it happen, Wednesday's news seemed pretty good. ESPN's Adam Schefter explained that Donald wanted to wear a helmet as he worked out, and because he used team equipment the Rams had to report it as a workout. Regardless of the circumstance, Donald was working out for the Rams. It's not hard to connect dots.
It's starting to seem like a foregone conclusion that Donald will be back at some point with the Rams, though it may be after training camp at the earliest before it becomes official. It has been speculated since the Rams traded for Myles Garrett at the beginning of June. The thought of Garrett and Donald, perhaps the two best defensive players of this era, playing together has been fun to consider.
But it's also hard to know what exactly the Rams are getting with Donald, if his comeback does become official.

Nate Rouette and his brother Nelson went shark fishing on Cape Cod hoping for an exciting catch, but were shocked by what they reeled in -- a tropical species of shark with a reputation for eating everything it can swallow.
The brothers, longtime sport fishermen who live in Massachusetts, released a juvenile tiger shark in late July after catching it from a beach. The five-foot shark is far more common in warmer, southern waters such as the Caribbean Sea, and scientists said its appearance off Falmouth, Massachusetts, is an indicator of warming seas caused by climate change.
Nate and Nelson said the late-night catch was a thrill after hours of seeking far more common brown sharks.
"And I saw those horizontal lines, indicating it was a tiger shark, which was super cool," said Nate, who is the social media manager for On The Water magazine. "Immediately I started yelling to my brother, 'It's a tiger, it's a tiger shark!' And he was in disbelief."
The Rouette brothers caught a young specimen of a shark that can grow to more than 15 feet (4.6 meters) and 1,400 pounds (635 kilograms). Tiger sharks eat a wide array of other ocean life, including fish, crustaceans and birds, and are famous for sometimes eating man-made items such as old license plates and shoes that are later found in their stomachs. The adults are also more dangerous to humans than most shark species, though unprovoked fatal bites are rare.

The NBA is a year-round business, but some months are slower than others. Right now, we're at the quiet part of the calendar. The entire league is on vacation in August and September. Most of the offseason homework is done. Teams are prepped for the 2026-27 marathon to start.
Over the next couple of months, you're about to see NBA players develop the most. The downtime is when guys usually make their biggest leaps. That's arguably the biggest perk of not being forced to travel or play a game every other night.
Saying goodbye to a handful of longtime role players this summer, the Oklahoma City Thunder are banking on internal development to keep their championship window open. Cason Wallace and Jared McCain are two names who could be due for monstrous years. As long as they're willing, OKC is about to fill up their plates to the brim with responsibilities.
The best way to ensure your NBA arc plays out the way you hope? Spending time around a two-time MVP. That's what Wallace and McCain are doing. In the latter's recent two-hour YouTube documentary, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander spent time in the gym with both Thunder teammates.
Gilgeous-Alexander will need more out of Wallace and McCain. They're two of the biggest beneficiaries with Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins gone. They must take this summer seriously. Especially since they're due contract extensions very soon.

A federal appellate panel on Tuesday refused to block President Donald Trump's executive order seeking to restrict mail voting, a day after the administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in on the proposal in a separate case.
The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia upheld a May ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Carl J. Nichols that said an injunction against the order was premature. Nichols ruled that the Democrats and voting rights groups who challenged the order couldn't seek the injunction until the Trump administration issued formal regulations governing it. The administration started releasing those directives days later.
The circuit court panel, with two judges appointed by former Democratic President Barack Obama and one by Trump, found that was proper and there were no noted dissents. But the unsigned decision noted that if the administration truly tried to force such changes in the few months remaining before November's midterm election, it may well get halted by courts.
"The action the Order contemplates would involve the President, whom the Constitution vests with no express authority over the conduct of elections, undertaking a substantial and unfunded overhaul of election procedures — including the implementation of a nationwide reform to Postal Service mail-handling processes —on the threshold of the November election. Put differently, the Order 'may not prove feasible to implement in any manner whatsoever,'" said the ruling, quoting a prior legal opinion.
In a separate case filed by Democratic state officials, a federal judge in Massachusetts last month blocked the executive order from taking effect for this year's elections because it was already forcing states, which are granted the power under the U.S. Constitution to control their own elections, to revise their procedures on the fly. That ruling was upheld on Saturday by a Boston-based appeals court and then was appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday by the Trump administration.

Call it a B-spec, call it a heavily revised AMR26, call it whatever you want – what Aston Martin rolled out at the Hungaroring for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is, by any reasonable engineering standard, a new Formula 1 car. Sixteen separate components were declared upgraded, mechanics broke FIA curfew to get both cars fitted in time, and the team reportedly flew spare parts to Budapest just to guarantee Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll could each run the full package. That is not a development update. That is a rebuild.
The backstory is by now well-documented and not particularly flattering. Adrian Newey didn't get serious work underway on the AMR26 until mid-March 2025, and the wind tunnel didn't see a model until mid-April – three months behind rivals who were already deep into the new regulatory cycle. The car that arrived at pre-season testing in Barcelona was overweight, paddock insiders estimated by somewhere between 10 and 15 kilograms, maybe more, and the Honda power unit was generating vibrations severe enough to rattle onboard cameras loose and leave Alonso and Stroll visibly fighting the steering wheel.
At the Australian opener, Alonso qualified 2.462 seconds off the pace. Both cars retired when the vibrations damaged the battery systems. It went largely sideways from there – one point across the opening ten rounds, tenth of eleven teams in the constructors' standings, behind only the expansion Cadillac outfit.
The nose is the clearest sign of how deep the changes go. Where the original AMR26 carried a wide, blunt front structure, the Hungary version features a noticeably thinner, more tapered profile – the kind of slender nose Newey has favoured since his early Red Bull years. That change alone cascades through the entire front end: new uprights, revised aerodynamic ducting, changed actuator mounting, and a completely reworked front wing with reshaped endplates. Per Newey, the forward section of the chassis was lightened to the point that it required a full re-homologation and fresh crash testing – which, depending on your definition, crosses the threshold from upgrade to new car.
Newey himself occupies both sides of that argument simultaneously. "The main structural elements remain the same – the chassis and gearbox architecture don't fundamentally change – but we've taken weight out of both, which required re-homologating and crash testing the forward chassis," he said. So: same architecture, new crash test. Make of that what you will.

Aaron Donald continues to work out as he contemplates coming out of retirement, training both privately at the Los Angeles Rams' facility and at home in videos that he's been posting on Instagram.
Drew Brees has seen some of the workouts Donald has posted and it leaves no doubt in his mind that the All-Pro pass rusher could realistically return to the Rams. In an interview with USA TODAY Sports, Brees said he "absolutely" thinks there's a real chance Donald comes back because of the favorable situation he'd be put in.
"I do. I absolutely do," Brees said. "I absolutely do because first off, I've watched the guy on Instagram and he looks like he's staying in pretty good shape. I mean, I'm still pretty scared of him," Brees said. "For him to sit there and go, 'Wait a minute, you mean I can come back, I don't have to play a full game, I can play between 20, 25 snaps a game, it's always going to be a pass rush, I'm always going to be matched up against the worst offensive lineman and all the attention is going to Myles Garrett and some of these other monsters up there? Like, yeah, why not?' And truly make a Super Bowl run, I think that temptation might be too much for him to pass up."
The Rams' acquisition of Garrett is what got the ball rolling and the wheels spinning in Donald's mind. He's never thought about returning before, but with the chance to pair with another multi-time Defensive Player of the Year, Donald is seriously thinking about it.
Adam Schefter of ESPN says it'll be "a while" before we get a final decision from Donald but it's a very real possibility that he comes out of retirement after watching from the sidelines for the last two years.

Photronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLAB) is one of the Best Small-Cap Semiconductor Stocks to Buy Right Now. Photronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLAB) has declined roughly 10% since its fiscal Q2 2026 earnings, in which the company missed EPS and revenue estimates. However, despite the decline, Wall Street continues to anticipate more than 40% upside over the next 12-months.
During fiscal Q2 2026, the company reported revenue of $209.94 million, which fell below the estimates of $216.03 million. The EPS of $0.42 also fell below the $0.53 consensus. The revenue remained flat year-over-year and was led down by the IC business, which declined 5% to $148 million, mainly due to delayed design releases caused by high fab utilization, memory supply constraints, and geopolitical uncertainty. On the bright side, the Flat Panel Display segment revenue grew 13% to $62 million, driven by strong AMOLED demand in China and seasonal recovery in Korea.
Following the earnings release on May 29, Craig-Hallum lowered the price target on Photronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLAB) from $48 to $42, while maintaining a Buy rating on the shares. The firm noted that the cut reflects near-term headwinds rather than a change in long-term conviction. The firm pointed to second-quarter softness and cautious third-quarter guidance, driven by weak IC demand, memory supply constraints, and geopolitical uncertainty that delayed design releases. However, management noted early signs of a tape-out recovery starting in May.

The bar is set super high for this coming earnings season — maybe a little too high.
Quick insight: Following the strength of first quarter earnings, ****** ysts have set a high bar for the second quarter. They're expecting S&P 500 (^GSPC) earnings per share (EPS) to grow 22% year over year, according to Goldman Sachs strategist Ben Snider. This is the highest estimate heading into earnings season since 2021.
Coming into the first quarter, ****** yst estimates pointed to 12% EPS growth for the S&P 500. The realized growth rate of 27% exceeded that forecast by 15 percentage points. The elevated bar this quarter suggests that S&P 500 EPS growth will exceed the consensus estimate by a smaller magnitude than in the first quarter, Snider noted.
The reason: Companies have a lot on their plates, hinting that earnings estimates are a little too high right now.
Investors must watch whether megacap tech giants such as Microsoft (MSFT) and Meta (META) can show tangible revenue from artificial intelligence to justify their massive, multibillion-dollar infrastructure capital expenditures.

Interested in Cerebras Systems Inc.? Here are five stocks we like better.
Cerebras Systems targets the $125 billion AI inference market with chips that deliver double to triple the token-generation throughput of traditional GPU setups.
Key growth catalysts include revenue-generating deals with OpenAI and AWS, supply chain insulation from HBM shortages, and the ability to ramp production ahead of competitors.
Ten of 11 ******* yst ratings are Buys, with the consensus price target approximately 60% above late-June levels, as ******* ysts view company guidance as conservative.
In a world where bigger is better, Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ: CBRS) seems to be well positioned. Instead of linking numerous AI cores together, creating data transfer bottlenecks along the way, Cerebras Systems chips are massive, comparable to dinner plates, housing thousands of cores in each.

When massive 9.0 magnitude earthquake shook **** an on March 11, 2011, the ground also made a more lasting move. About 15 minutes after the event began at 2:46 p.m. local time, nearly the entire country shifted eastward, according to GPS station measurements.
The lurch was small — 5 to 6 millimeters, or 0.20 to 0.24 inches — but permanent and at the time went largely unnoticed or was passed off as a data glitch. However, University of Chicago geophysicist Sunyoung Park felt the recorded signals that indicated a shift pointed to something tangible. In fact, the ground movement reflected an "extraordinary" and previously undocumented seismic phenomenon, according to a new study.
"What was unusual about this movement is basically the whole of **** an was moving nearly uniformly at the same time," said Park, who led the research.
She added that the movement, which affected mainland **** an — Hokkaido to Kyushu — an area approximately 1,800 miles (3,000 kilometers) in length, did not match the timing of the initial earthquake, and it happened before any significant aftershocks.
After years of **** yzing GPS and seismic data, Park and her colleagues found that waves from the earthquake had traveled down to Earth's core and then rebounded to the crust, displacing four major tectonic plates.
