Belgian comedian Noel Godin, who made a name throwing custard pies at celebrities from French film legend Jean-Luc Godard to tech ******* an Bill Gates, has died at the age of 80, his partner told AFP Monday.

French side Lille are keen to hang on to Fernández-Pardo but according to L'Equipe, the 21-year-old Belgian is keen to leave the club this summer after having previously been linked with a move to Atlético de Madrid.
The Magpies are said to have submitted a €40 million (approx £34.2 million) bid for the player who featured off the bench three times for Belgium at this summer's World Cup.

On August 13, Ascendis Pharma (NASDAQ:ASND) reported second-quarter results that showed how far its rare disease portfolio has come. Total product revenue roughly doubled from a year earlier to €315 million, and for the first time all three of the company's approved TransCon therapies, SKYTROFA, YORVIPATH and YUVIWEL, were contributing meaningful sales in the same quarter. That combination is what management is leaning on to justify its 2030 revenue ambitions.
YORVIPATH, the hypoparathyroidism treatment, generated €252 million in the quarter and crossed blockbuster level on an annualized basis just two years after its U.S. launch, while reaching patients in more than 35 countries through either commercial sales or named patient access programs. Long-term trial data presented during the quarter showed response rates sustained between 82% and 86% on the combined endpoint, with patients still on therapy at a 95% rate five years after starting.
SKYTROFA, the once-weekly growth hormone therapy, crossed 20,000 unique patient enrollments and remains the best-selling long-acting growth hormone in the US as measured by brand value, contributing €55 million for the quarter. YUVIWEL, the newest of the three, launched commercially in the US during the quarter and brought in €8 million in its first quarter on the market. Enrollment kept climbing after the quarter closed, from more than 170 unique patients through June 30 to more than 220 by the end of July, with more than 65% of those patients already approved for reimbursement. Ascendis also ended the quarter with €812 million in cash and carries no bank debt or convertible debt, giving it room to keep funding these launches without outside financing.
The growth came with a steeper cost base. SG&A expenses rose to €173 million in the quarter from €145 million in the prior quarter, and R&D expenses climbed to €76 million from €59 million, a comparison made sharper by the fact that the prior quarter's figure had been reduced by a one-time €11 million reversal of earlier inventory write-downs. Reported operating profit of €220 million also leaned heavily on a one-time item, a €158 million gain tied to the sale of a PRV. Strip that out and non-IFRS operating profit was €92 million, a 27% margin that better reflects the underlying business. Total revenue of €339 million for the quarter also included €24 million of non-product collaboration revenue, including a €17 million milestone payment tied to TransCon CNP, money that will not repeat every quarter. And while YUVIWEL's early numbers are strong, formal regulatory decisions for the drug in the U.S. and European Union are not expected until the fourth quarter of 2026, meaning current sales are happening ahead of full approval.

In total, McQuade has made 68 appearances for Newcastle United in all competitions.
McQuade will now test herself north of the border with Hibernian. She joins a Hibs side that were SWPL champions in 2024/2025.
After joining Hibs, McQuade told the club's official media team "I'm really excited to be here at Hibs. The opportunity to come here came out of the blue but I knew right away it sounded like a great move.

According to The Sun, the Magpies want the site, which is close to Newcastle International Airport and around five miles north-west of the city centre, to become the new home of their men's first team and academy.
Subject to planning approval, the Magpies hope to complete the move in time for the 2029/30 season, with a formal application expected to be submitted to Newcastle City Council early next year.

Fulcrum Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: FULC) said it is merging with Slate Medicines, Inc. to advance next-generation therapeutics to treat migraine and other headache disorders, with the combining company operating as Slate Medicines, Inc. and trading on Nasdaq under the ticker "SLTE."
Slate reported it secured an oversubscribed concurrent private placement of $245 million from healthcare investors led by Frazier Life Sciences and including Forbion, RA Capital Management, and Deep Track Capital, among other firms. The new company's cash balance is expected to fund operations into 2029, it said.
"Migraine remains one of the most prevalent and disabling neurological diseases, yet millions of patients continue to be underserved by existing therapies," said Gregory Oakes, Slate Medicines CEO. "This merger and the related financing are expected to provide the resources to advance SLTE-1009, along with the rest of our pipeline, through potentially meaningful clinical milestones."

The Phillies trailed 3-1 before they sent nine batters to the plate in the sixth and scored four times against reliever Michael Petersen (2-3). Alec Bohm, who also had an RBI single in the first, opened the scoring in the sixth with a run-scoring double. With both clubs finishing the previous season in mid-table and level on the same number of points, Derby County and Sunderland's 1951/1952 opener seemed like it could be an intriguing affair between two evenly matched sides.
It was the second season running that the Lads were facing the Rams in their first fixture and they went into the game hoping to repeat their 1-0 Roker Park victory of a year before.
In the meantime, the teams had also played out a cracker in December 1950 that ended with the hosts winning 6-5, giving Bill Murray's men a painful memory to avenge, whilst there was a friendly rivalry between ex-teammates to be considered as well, with former Sunderland man Ken Oliver coming up against his old pals including Tommy McLain, who he had first encountered when they served in the RAF together in Sri Lanka during World War II.
Oliver proved to be one of Derby's stronger performers in the end, although McLain came away the happiest, scoring what was to be his only goal in Sunderland colours — and a beauty at that.

Dominant from the get-go, the Dodgers cruised through an 11-5 win over the Rockies. And fair or not, too many times this season, particularly as of late, it has felt as though this team didn't live up to the expectations of dominating a starting pitcher in a matchup they should handle. While the end product has been there, the underlying numbers suggest a complete mismatch for Tomoyuki Sugano against the Dodgers' offense, and that's precisely what transpired on the field.
The three straight groundouts to open the first were just the Dodgers' bats warming up before putting up seven runs past Sugano with long ***** from Max Muncy and Shohei Ohtani—the former obliterating a 461-foot home run into the second deck in right field, the latter taking Sugano deep in the big leagues for the fourth time in still a rather small sample size. Mookie Betts and Andy Pages each drove in one in the first three innings before Muncy turned the Dodgers' lead into a commanding one with a three-run shot in the third.
By the time Sugano left the mound, the Dodgers held a 7-1 lead and still had four innings to work with. Aiming to increase his tally of just one multi-homer game this season, which, interestingly enough, came in a Dodgers loss, Ohtani brought the power once again in the sixth.
