Newcastle are in talks with Manchester City over Nico Gonzalez, according to The Athletic.
The Magpies are looking to reinforce their midfield following the sales of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes to Tottenham Hotspur and ******* nal respectively.
They have already signed midfielders Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba but want to make further additions in the middle of the park.
Newcastle are now understood to have held initial discussions on signing Gonzalez.
Gonzalez joined Man City in January 2025, with the Cityzens short of midfielders due to injuries, most notably Rodri, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
