Sophie Cunningham adds coconut water deal to growing endorsement portfolio originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Sophie Cunningham's latest business move proves that her popularity extends well beyond the basketball court. The Indiana Fever guard announced a new partnership with Once Upon a Coconut on Monday, adding the beverage company to an expanding endorsement portfolio that already includes Adidas, Arby's, Marriott Bonvoy and European Wax Center.
Cunningham revealed the deal through a playful Instagram post featuring several photos of her posing with the company's coconut water.
"Sip happens, stay hydrated," Cunningham wrote.
She also identified chocolate and pineapple as her two favorite flavors. Cunningham compared the chocolate drink to chocolate milk and described the pineapple option as "fresh and clean." The partnership is more than a single sponsored social media post. According to the official announcement, Cunningham will participate in advertising, retail promotions, digital campaigns, content, appearances and other national marketing initiatives.

Curating these pieces is a juxtaposing activity. Because I put them together the day after the game in question, usually my own personal emotions have calmed down a little. But essentially, I then relive the experience all again going through the reaction.
That is a very nice feeling after a win – not so much after a result like Saturday's. While imperfect, the first half was electric, and a faraway cry from what we experienced last season in the best way possible.
The second however was nothing short of unacceptable, and it was film we'd all seen too many times before. Here's how you reacted to the key talking points.
The worst part of that second-half performance was the fact that, after a summer of progress and seeming positive steps, the same cracks we saw so painfully often last season were still there.
Countless comical defensive errors, a midfield all at sea that the opposition played through with ease and a jarringly blunt attacking showing – particularly once Jack Marriott was subbed off.

As season-openers go, this is one that will be remembered, but not fondly. Despite Jack Marriott's sublime first-half hat-trick, the game was soured by some horrific defending that can't be defended.
The perpetrator in chief was Jeriel Dorsett, the defender that doesn't enjoy defending. It's fine to consider him a bit of a utility defender, as he can play at centre-back, where he's passable, at best. But at left-back, it seems he hasn't learned one iota about positional sense, engagement or what the best thing to do is at any given moment.
It's akin to him waking up every morning finding out he's got to play in a position he's never played in before, and making a hash of it every single time.
Further to this are the knock-on effects of his consistently inconsistent play. Everyone else around him becomes nervous as to what he's going to do, or, more to the point, not going to do. It causes disruption, because he can't be trusted.
"While this unit is in its infancy, we most certainly need a big, big upgrade at left-back"

Host Hotels & Resorts (NASDAQ:HST) held its second-quarter earnings call on August 6, and the numbers gave management enough confidence to raise full-year guidance by more than expected. Comparable hotel RevPAR climbed 7% to $251.53 in the quarter, and CEO James Risoleo pointed to luxury resort demand and a run of high-profile events as the drivers. That combination pushed the company to lift its 2026 RevPAR growth range by 125 basis points at the midpoint, to 4.75% to 5.25%.
Every demand segment moved in the same direction. Transient revenue rose 6.9% to $559 million, the strongest growth in seven quarters, while group room revenue grew 7.4% to $332 million on a sellout of 1.1 million room nights. The World Cup added roughly 160 basis points to second-quarter RevPAR growth, and RevPAR in World Cup host markets jumped 15% in June against 12% elsewhere. Maui kept recovering too, with RevPAR up 14% and occupancy up more than 8 percentage points, and golf revenue there now sits 9% ahead of levels seen before the wildfires.
Behind the quarter sits a longer bet on renovated properties. Host Hotels has poured about $2.1 billion into 34 hotels across its Marriott and Hyatt portfolios, a program expected to generate 60% of hotel EBITDA in 2026, and the 21 properties already stabilized have gained roughly 9 points of RevPAR index share on average. That reinvestment, plus a $500 million gain from selling its Four Seasons resorts, funded a $0.72 per share special dividend in July on top of the regular $0.20 payout, all while leverage held at 2.2 times.
CFO Sourav Ghosh was direct about what comes next, saying the company expects margin comparisons to moderate in the second half largely because rate growth will not repeat at the same pace. Much of the first half's strength leaned on tailwinds that fade as the year goes on, including the World Cup and a busy events calendar.
Costs are creeping in from other directions too. A Kona low rainstorm in Hawaii is expected to cause $27 million to $32 million in property damage, and while insurance should cover most of it, remediation alone runs about $2 million. The Four Seasons condo development at Walt Disney World, with 28 of 40 units closed, saw its 2026 EBITDA guidance trimmed to $16 million to $20 million from $20 million to $25 million purely on closing timing. Wage rates are still climbing 5% for the year, and labor makes up about half of total hotel operating expenses.

Here it is then: the curtain-opener. The start of the season proper, our bread and ******* er: league football. The excitement was in the air as the warm weather and promise of shiny new things at the SCL gave the fanbase reason to arrive in their masses to watch the spectacle of a visiting, promotion-tipped Luton Town.
There were some changes to the stadium that I could see and notice. The sound system definitely seemed louder, the pitch's advertising boards were now upgraded to the electronic screen versions and the bins inside the concourse had been replaced with newer ones, which provided options for general waste and recycling. And of course, safe-standing was present in the South Stand.
From where I was sitting, it seemed the West Stand possibly had some new seats, but I couldn't be sure. Certainly over in the East Stand, we had the same seats from last year where I was sat. However, the WiFi and phone signal were still terrible, the toilets the same (although clean) and the only difference in the food and drink selections were the slight price increases.
This effectively boils down to an appropriate metaphor for the game itself: it promised a lot of change, but ultimately, underwhelmed where it mattered.
The starting line-up was pretty much as we expected, seeing the 4-2-3-1 shape from pre-season in use. However, the only pleasant surprise was seeing Jack Marriott start. Also in the line-up were home debuts for Udoka Godwin-Malife (or 'Dokes', because I'm not writing that again), Kyreece Lisbie and Josh Stokes.

The college football season is approaching, and teams are beginning to make their plans for fall camp. The Auburn Tigers are entering yet another era with their fourth head coach in six years. They need this hire to deliver, and new head coach Alex Golesh is making a major move to reshape the way his team approaches camp. One college football ***** yst loves the decision.
Reports indicate that Auburn will move its fall camp from campus to a resort. The idea is likely to get the team away from campus and allow the players to focus solely on bonding as a unit. Golesh has also established a strict set of rules to keep distractions at bay.

Hotchkis & Wiley, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for the "Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund." A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. Equity markets posted strong returns in the second quarter of 2026, with the Russell Midcap Index rising 13.8% and the Russell Midcap Value Index returning 13.4%, despite concerns about inflation, a hawkish Federal Reserve, and rising oil prices due to the Iran conflict. Narrow market leadership was evident, particularly semiconductor stocks and other stocks in the AI sector, which saw returns exceeding 100%. The Firm favors quality businesses with attractive valuations, believing that fears regarding AI's impact are overstated. The Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund lagged the Russell Midcap Value Index, achieving a 4.74% return in the second quarter, primarily due to underperformance in technology and energy sectors, while stock selection in healthcare contributed positively. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund highlighted Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (NYSE:VAC). Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (NYSE:VAC) posted a one-month return of -1.96%, while its shares gained 33.46% over the past 52 weeks.
Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (NYSE:VAC) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation (NYSE:VAC) is one of the largest timeshare operators in the US, building, selling, financing, and managing upper-upscale and luxury resorts under the Marriott, Westin, Ritz-Carlton, and Hyatt brands, alongside a high-margin exchange business. We view it as a misunderstood, good-quality company whose branded network, affluent customer base with ~$1.5 million average net worth, and recurring financing and fee streams help insulate it from the cyclicality of travel. The stock outperformed this quarter as results topped low Street expectations, management maintained full-year guidance while raising its contract-sales outlook, and free cash flow generation remained strong."

AUBURN — Alex Golesh was rather chipper for the first media availability of Auburn football's preseason camp because, he said, it was the "best time of the year."
Those were quite literally the first words of his Tuesday, Aug. 4, media availability, which ended with a message to the media in attendance saying, "It's football time, guys. Let's ride," as he walked out of the room.
Soon after his opening sentence, Golesh repeated the message. It's the best time of year because he gets to coach, but he added that there's "nothing else really going on other than us, the team, and our staff."
It turned out he was being quite literal, because the Tigers will kick off their first preseason under Golesh with a near-two-week stay at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National, which describes itself on its website as having cabanas alongside resort-style pools. There's also the three-course (as in 54-holes) RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National right next door.
Golesh did not specify whether or not the program would be spending any time at the pool or on the links in their off days, but his explainer of the move didn't provide much optimism for anything beyond football.

Arsenal Women's Under-21s defeated London Bees 1-0 in an encouraging pre-season friendly, a match that proved to be a classic game of two halves.
Arsenal controlled the opening period before London Bees enjoyed the better of the second half. The only goal came from England Under-17 international Cairo Antoine, who finished after an excellent diagonal pass from centre-back Millie Marriott.
Watching the game were England Under-19 manager John Solomon, along with first-team youngster Sophie Harwood.
There was no team sheet available for the ****** nal Under-21 side, which is standard for PGA Academy fixtures. The recognisable faces included players who have trained with the first team, such as Bella Cowley and Marriott, as well as England Under-17 international Antoine. Amy Liddiard, who has previously been included in the first-team squad and came close to making her senior debut as a substitute in the Champions League last season, also featured and kept a clean sheet.
There are areas in which the first team could strengthen, but the question remains whether these academy players, some of whom already have first-team training experience, are ready to make the step up.

George Haffner averaged a robust 18.3 yards per completion quarterbacking Joe Kuharich's Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 1960. He also completed less than 30 percent of his passes and 11 of his 108 attempts were picked off. Frank Budka – 14 interceptions in 95 attempts -- and Daryle Lamonica took over in 1961 while Haffner left South Bend only to emerge at McNeese State in 1964.
Several other quarterbacks have moved on from Notre Dame, most recently Kenny Minchey, who will be the centerpiece of a new-look Kentucky offense under first-year coach Will Stein and new offensive coordinator Joe Sloan.
"Going to Notre Dame out of high school, it was just a decision that was best for me and my family and my situation," Minchey said at SEC media days in Tampa. "Then obviously coming to Kentucky, coming to the SEC, I just think it was a great opportunity."
The Tennessee native's resume is sparse (29 pass attempts) having spent the past three seasons behind starters C.J. Carr, Riley Leonard, Sam Hartman and ***** orted others on the depth chart. including Steve Angeli. In Lexington, Minchey, who has two years of eligibility, has the opportunity to show what he can do under a 36-year-old head coach who was the offensive coordinator at Oregon for three seasons working with Dante Moore, Dillon Gabriel and Bo Nix.

Former Fox Sports and ESPN host Marcellus Wiley has been released from Orange County Jail after posting a $1,000 bond, according to a report by Mike Florio in Pro Football Talk. The former NFL defensive end was arrested on Saturday after police responded to an alleged domestic battery incident.
Florio reports, per details obtained from the Arrest Affidavit, that the incident occurred at the World Marriott in Orlando on Saturday afternoon, and the alleged victim was Wiley’s wife. Wiley’s wife asked officers to “remove her husband from their shared hotel room due to her being afraid of him,” saying that Wiley “told [her] he was going to kill her and [she] was afraid of his behavior.”
Asked to elaborate by the officers, Wiley’s wife said “on the previous morning Marcellus had put his hands on her,” by using “one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek.”
The affidavit noted Wiley’s wife displayed no “visible injuries” and that she did not request medical attention. However, she did say that Wiley “had an unreported history of violence toward her and she was planning to divorce him when they returned home to California.”
Per Florio, “Wiley denied any physical altercation with his wife,” and claimed she made the report because she intended to divorce him.

The New York Times is on full Taylor Swift wedding watch, with even more details to share about the reported upcoming nuptials, which are rumored to be taking place at New York's Madison Square Garden.
The paper reported Thursday that an entertainment industry executive said that Taylor has indeed rented out the arena. That same executive and one other person "with knowledge of the matter" offered more details on how the celebration would reportedly progress: On July 2, an "intimate gathering" of about 100 people is expected at the Garden, followed by a July 3 celebration with "about 1,000" guests and "possible stage appearances."
The paper reported Wednesday that the police officers who patrol the Amtrak train station beneath the arena have been told that Taylor and Travis Kelce will get married that weekend. It also reported that several members of the Kansas City Chiefs had booked rooms around those dates at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square.
Meanwhile, ABC News has confirmed that an event company has filed a permit requesting the closure of West 31st Street near the Garden from July 2 through July 4. In addition, city officials told ABC News that the company has also requested permission for an "exterior canopy" to be set up outside the arena to conceal the comings and goings for the event.

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAR) was among the stocks on Jim Cramer's radar on Mad Money, as he advised investors to care about where a stock is going, not where it has been. When a caller asked for Cramer's opinion of the stock, he said:
Alright, here's the deal with Marriott. Okay, I have told, and I've said this to the CEO, this is what I call an up stock. Every time Marriott goes down, literally, if you take a look at the chart, you have to pull the trigger, and I'm sticking by that. And you know, it's really incredible. I don't feel that way about any other hotel company. Marriott is the best.

Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MAR) operates and franchises hotels, residences, and timeshares, ranging from luxury to budget options. Cramer was bullish on the stock and the industry during the February 25 episode, as he remarked:
I like Booking Holdings. I like Marriott for travel. I think the travel bull market lives. They won't be brought down by Anthropic.

WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 15: Justin Gaethje participates in a press conference with other fight winners and Dana White following UFC Freedom 250 at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC on June 15, 2026. (Photo by Nathan Posner/Anadolu via Getty Images)
Justin Gaethje will be sidelined for at least six months following his epic TKO victory over Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14. Like a few others who battled on that night, Gaethje was handed a 180-day medical suspension to heal the injuries he suffered in the scrap with Topuria. Let's talk MMA.
Gaethje received a 180-day medical suspension after UFC Freedom 250, pending right-wrist and left-knee MRI clearance, plus 45 days of mandatory rest.
The term is listed as "up to" 180 days and can be shortened with clean scans.
Topuria also drew a 180-day suspension for facial injuries, so both winner and loser were sidelined.

Schafer Cullen Capital Management, Inc., an independent investment advisor, released its Q1 2026 investor letter for the “Small Cap Value Equity Strategy.” You can download a copy of the letter here. U.S. equity markets started 2026 with notable volatility due to geopolitical events and shifting macro conditions. The Russell 2000 rose 0.9% for the quarter, with small-cap value outperforming growth. Concerns over AI and its impact on software companies heightened among investors.
