On September 8, 2026, GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) agreed to buy Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) for $11.75 billion. The acquisition marks the company's largest bet yet on precision engine castings, a constraint that has been capping GE's growth. Trading already at roughly 40x earnings, the company has now attacked one of its genuine bottlenecks through the deal. But has it paid too much to do it?
Castings, including the superalloy and ******* anium hot-section parts inside the jet engines, have constrained GE's engine production, including programs such as LEAP and GEnx, as well as its high-margin aftermarket. Without these castings, the company can neither build nor service its engines. If the acquisition closes, the company will gain access to CPP's 20-plus plants and about 6,600 workers, which are essential for making those components. The deal would therefore enable GE to control the constraint as well as defend its margins. CEO Larry Culp characterized the move as securing manufacturing capacity to meet simultaneous demand across commercial engines, aftermarket services, and defense contracts.
The valuation is where bulls should slow down. GE is paying roughly 18x 2027 EBITDA including synergies (26x without synergies). The sellers are private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners. They have basically offloaded a cyclical business near the peak of the aerospace cycle. This is smart money selling to GE instead of the other way around. The real tell is that GE felt compelled to buy its way past this capacity bottleneck instead of scaling organically, which reveals how tight its prized aftermarket really was. Also, CPP also supplies other major aerospace and defense companies such as Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, and Lockheed Martin, and through the vertical tie-up, the company invites antitrust scrutiny before it closes in late 2027.
GE's 40x multiple rests on its high-margin razor-and-blade business model that services a huge installed base. And the casting supply shortages quietly constrain this aftermarket. Hence, more than merely fixing a supply chain issue, the CPP acquisition defends the company's high margin and multiple. Financially, the transaction is accretive to adjusted EPS and free cash flow in the first year, funded through $7 billion in cash alongside newly issued debt. Insider Monkey data shows 113 hedge funds held GE in Q2 2026, down modestly from 119 in Q1, reflecting firm institutional positioning. Short interest is just 1.3% of float, below peers like Honeywell International (1.6%). Almost no one bets against it.

During a September 8 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer examined the broader aerospace ecosystem following GE Aerospace's (NYSE:GE) nearly $12 billion agreement to acquire castings specialist Consolidated Precision Products (CPP). Commenting on the strategic importance of supply chain control and the enduring strength of commercial and defense aviation despite rising oil prices, Cramer stated:
I still believe in the data center, but I also want to open your eyes to other opportunities. This morning, for example, GE Aerospace spent nearly $12 billion to buy a castings company called Consolidated Precision Products to integrate this key segment into its supply chain. It's vital for both commercial aircraft and particularly defense, both of which are booming. Now, on a day where oil's up, you might not want to focus on anything airline related, but travel's been booming the whole time, the whole time the Iranian war's been going on. This acquisition will pay off quickly for GE, making it more likely that they can accelerate production. This is also good news, therefore, for Boeing, a huge customer of GE that needs to boost its production speed.
GE is relatively close to its highs, deservedly so. Boeing? Nowhere near its high. Yet the order book is full. Last week, there was this negative article about how Boeing is being hurt by the problem-filled Spirit AeroSystems acquisition. It made that one two years ago. But that actually had to be done because Boeing, like GE Aerospace, needs to get better control of its supply chain. Aha, you say, who needs that kind of problem? Boeing just reported its slowest deliveries in 4 months. I come back and say, wait a second. First, the problems from the Spirit deal are now behind them. You know what? The story is actually old news.
Plus, CEO Kelly Ortberg has made it clear that orders would be lumpy. I knew that. And look, I know the high price of oil, particularly jet fuel, is bad news for the airlines. But the higher price of fuel also makes these new engines and airplanes far more valuable than before. Why? They're way more energy efficient. It's a good situation that has nothing to do with the data center. It does require more, better tech that AI can help with.
GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) and The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) represent two distinct pillars of the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, operating at massive commercial scale. GE Aerospace reported second-quarter revenue of $13.3 billion, up 21% year-over-year, driven by strong commercial engine services and record internal shop visit output. Its total order backlog extends past $210 billion, supported by sustained airline demand for propulsion systems and aftermarket maintenance.

On August 4, Archrock (NYSE:AROC) posted second-quarter results that told two different stories at once. Revenue slipped to $371.2 million from $383.2 million a year earlier, yet net income climbed to $66.7 million, and earnings per share rose to $0.38. That gap between a shrinking top line and a growing bottom line is the puzzle this quarter leaves investors to sort out.
The clearest bull signal came from a new long-term agreement with an existing strategic customer covering roughly 665,000 horsepower, structured with an eight-year base term and a two-year extension option. That kind of commitment locks in cash flow well into the next decade and reinforces management's multi-year growth capital expenditure guidance of $1.4 billion to $1.6 billion **** ulatively from 2027 through 2030. The core contract operations segment backed that confidence with real numbers. Revenue there rose 3% to $329.3 million, and adjusted gross margin improved to 71% from 70%, with period-end utilization at 94.4%.
The balance sheet also moved in the right direction. Archrock's leverage ratio fell to 2.6x as of June 30, down from 3.3x a year earlier, even after the company redeemed its entire $800 million of 6.250% senior notes due 2028 on April 1. The board kept rewarding shareholders through it all, declaring a quarterly dividend of $0.23 per share, about 10% higher than a year ago, marking the fifth increase in two years, with coverage still comfortable at 3.1x.
The softer parts of this quarter center on aftermarket services and forward guidance. That segment's revenue fell to $42.0 million from $64.8 million, as last year's non-recurring sales of overhauled engines did not repeat and maintenance demand skipped its usual mid-year seasonal **** p. Total operating horsepower also declined to 4.5 million from 4.7 million, partly from the sale of about 165,000 non-strategic units.
On the guidance front, Archrock tightened its full-year adjusted EBITDA range to $865 million to $885 million, down from a prior range of $865 million to $915 million, pointing to lube oil cost pressure, higher make-ready spending to reactivate idle equipment, and increased SG&A tied to stock-based incentive compensation. Adjusted net income actually dipped to $66.5 million and adjusted EPS to $0.38, both slightly below last year's $68.4 million and $0.39. Long-term debt still sits at $2.3 billion, and Archrock did not repurchase any shares during the quarter, leaving $113.2 million of buyback capacity untouched.

Riverwater Partners, an investment management company, released its 'Small Cap Strategy' Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The Small Cap Strategy underperformed the Russell 2000 in the second quarter as the benchmark experienced one of its strongest risk-on rallies in recent memory, although the strategy remained ahead year-to-date. The quarter was defined by accelerating AI investment, energy market disruptions, and renewed investor appetite for higher-beta stocks, creating headwinds for the firm's quality-focused approach and healthcare positioning. Despite this, stock selection contributed positively in energy, materials, and financials, while healthcare and consumer discretionary detracted due to the fund's disciplined avoidance of speculative businesses. Looking ahead, the firm remains cautiously optimistic, focusing on opportunities created by market dislocations, including AI infrastructure enablers, select consumer companies, healthcare innovators, and energy businesses trading below intrinsic value. The strategy continues to emphasize high-quality companies with strong management teams and attractive valuations, positioning the portfolio for a potential rotation away from speculative market leadership. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy highlighted Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU). Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU), a US-based filtration products manufacturer, known for its Fleetguard brand, detracted from the strategy's performance this quarter. On August 31, 2026, Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU) closed at $47.23 per share. Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU) fell 14.31% over the past month while its shares gained 5.47% over the past 52 weeks. Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU) has a market capitalization of $3.85 billion with a 52-week trading range between $42.60 - $66.50.
Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU), the engine filtration business spun out of ******* mins (CMI), fell approximately 10% as readthroughs from the freight market turned mixed, with softer commentary on new truck builds and some margin pressure weighing on sentiment. We continue to like the durable, replacement-driven aftermarket core of the business, but we respected the change in tone and trimmed the position back to a standard weight during the quarter."

MD Sass, a boutique ****** et management firm, published its second-quarter investor update for its flagship, the "MD Sass Concentrated Value Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. In the first half of 2026, AI infrastructure stocks led the market, with the Russell 1000 Value increasing by 16.3%, outpacing the S&P 500 (10.2%) and Russell 1000 Growth (5.3%). This growth was fueled by semiconductor, memory, and hardware companies benefiting from AI development, even though they are considered cyclical. These sectors, representing only 7.7% of the Russell 1000 Value at the start of the year, contributed nearly 70% of its returns. The portfolio gained 10.0% in the second quarter, net of fees, compared to 13.9% for the Russell 1000 Value Index. Year-to-date, the strategy returned 6.6%, net of fees, versus 16.3% for the Index. The portfolio faced challenges due to limited exposure to companies with the greatest upside from AI infrastructure investments. It also lacked exposure to the Energy sector, which returned about 20% in the first half amid geopolitical tensions with Iran that increased commodity prices, affecting performance. The firm recognizes the importance of adapting its strategies while maintaining core investment principles as it explores future opportunities in emerging technological themes. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.

During the August 6 episode of Mad Money, a caller asked host Jim Cramer about Honeywell Aerospace Inc. (NASDAQ:HONA) following a steep, near 28% collapse in the stock between August 4 and August 6. Cramer revealed that the Charitable Trust immediately unloaded the position at the opening bell. He stated:
It really hurt us. Both Phil LeBeau and I were stunned. Phil said three times that they could've told us that things were bad. I called the management, and I said, management called me back, and said, look, I said, listen, I think it's a very suboptimal situation.
I really don't like the situation. I think that the company should have been much more forthcoming. I think it was a rookie mistake. We sold the stock at the opening for the Charitable Trust. It is a great company, but man, they are not ready for prime time, and it was very disappointing.
The sudden plunge caught institutional investors and **** ysts off guard, landing the newly minted standalone company in Wall Street's penalty box. Honeywell Aerospace Inc. (NASDAQ:HONA) watched its shares implode after management slashed its full-year outlook following the second-quarter results.
The core catalyst behind the selloff was a severe downgrade to the corporate financial roadmap. Management aligned full-year forecasts with supply-chain capabilities, scaling back expectations across some major financial metrics. Organic growth guidance was reduced to a range of 4% to 5%, compared to previous guidance of 7% to 9%. Pro forma standalone adjusted EBIT was lowered to a range of $4.35 billion to $4.45 billion, down from earlier projections of $4.65 billion to $4.75 billion. In addition, year-over-year adjusted EBIT growth was revised to a range of flat to 3%, down from prior guidance of 7% to 10%. Persistent supply-chain constraints forced the company to prioritize original equipment manufacturer deliveries to major planemakers like Boeing and Airbus. As a result, production was diverted away from higher-revenue, higher-margin aftermarket operations, squeezing profitability right out of the gate as an independent entity.

Americas organic growth was driven by broad-based strength in core institutional markets and a cyclical recovery in commercial verticals like office and multifamily.
The company is benefiting from a secular shift in higher education as campuses transition from mechanical keys to contactless mobile credentials, triggering large-scale hardware upgrades.
Data center demand is emerging as a high-growth vertical, now approaching 5% of non-residential business, which management expects will fuel a significant future aftermarket installed base.
International segment performance was hampered by deteriorating macroeconomic conditions in Germany, leading to a downward revision of the full-year organic outlook for that region.

In our previous coverage of the stock, we mentioned the company's acquisition of Eaton's Mobility Group. This acquisition was believed to enhance Dana's long-term business profile through higher margins, increased aftermarket exposure, and greater scale. On June 10, both companies entered into definitive agreements for a Reverse Morris Trust transaction. As part of the transaction, Eaton will transfer its Vehicle and eMobility business into the newly created SpinCo before it merges with Dana. A Separation and Distribution Agreement will govern this transfer. Additionally, a Dana subsidiary will also acquire Royal Precision Holding Corp. from Eaton, adding further ***** ets to the combined company.
Dana and SpinCo secured a $2.6 billion short-term bridge loan commitment from Goldman Sachs to help fund the transaction. The financing will be used to support an approximately $1.1 billion cash payment to Eaton and to refinance certain existing Dana debt. However, the transaction is still subject to several conditions, including DAN shareholder approval and multiple regulatory clearances.
Dana Inc. (NYSE:DAN), together with its subsidiaries, provides power-conveyance and energy-management solutions for on-highway vehicles. The company also provides sealing solutions such as gaskets, seals, cam covers, and oil pan modules. It was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in Maumee, Ohio.
While we acknowledge the potential of DAN as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Artisan Partners, an investment management firm, issued its first-quarter 2026 investor letter for the "Artisan Mid Cap Value Fund". A copy of this letter is available for download here. In Q1 2026, the portfolio underperformed the benchmark Russell Midcap Value Index as the market favored momentum-driven stocks over quality factors. Some holdings faced company-specific setbacks and negative sentiment. The Fund's Investor Class: ARTQX returned -4.93%, Advisor Class: APDQX declined by -4.90%, and Institutional Class: APHQX fell by -4.97%, all trailing the Index's 3.68% gain. The equity market in the quarter was mixed, with mid- and small-cap indices showing resilience despite lagging large-cap growth stocks. Volatility increased, initially fueled by interest in AI and private credit, but escalated after the outbreak of war in Iran, leading to rising oil prices. Sector performance varied, with energy leading the gains. The Fund continues to seek companies capable of value growth during market dislocations at attractive entry points. Also, review the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.
In its first-quarter 2026 investor letter, Artisan Mid Cap Value Fund highlighted NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) as one of its leading contributors. NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) is a leading provider of equipment, technology, and expertise to the oil and gas industry. On July 7, 2026, NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) closed at $18.28 per share. One-month return of NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) was -13.28%, and its shares gained 36.21% over the past 52 weeks. NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) has a market capitalization of $6.56 billion.
Artisan Mid Cap Value Fund stated the following regarding NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) in its Q1 2026 investor letter:
"Our energy holdings were well represented among our top contributors, benefiting from higher energy prices. Permian Resources (PR), an independent oil and gas company, and NOV, the largest manufacturer of oilfield equipment, led the way. NOV Inc. (NYSE:NOV) ended 2025 on a solid note, with Q4 revenue up nearly 5% sequentially and earnings beating expectations, helped by strong execution, backlog conversion and market share gains even as broader global activity remained soft. NOV's energy equipment segment has been a bright spot, benefiting from stronger offshore demand and a growing backlog that supports future activity. Cash flow generation has remained solid, allowing NOV to continue returning capital to shareholders. The Middle East conflict is creating near term headwinds for NOV through logistical and supply-chain disruptions, weaker aftermarket demand and softer customer ordering activity across the region. Thankfully, the company has reported no personnel injuries or facility damage, and its Saudi rig-building and composite pipe facilities remain operational. The disruption is likely to impact near-term results, but the longer term outlook remains intact, in our view, supported by NOV's diversified global footprint and a still-constructive offshore bac

Mid-cap stocks MYR Group (NASDAQ: MYRG) and VSE Corporation (NASDAQ: VSEC) operate in completely different industrial sectors, with MYR Group focusing on electrical contracting and VSE on aviation aftermarket services.
However, they are fundamentally cut from the same cloth, as they rely heavily on recurring, non-discretionary service revenue. Utilities must maintain the grid, and that's where MYR comes in. Planes must be serviced to remain airworthy, which is how VSE generates income.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
As of July 6, VSE's shares are up more than 38% this year, and MYR's shares are up more than 102%. Here are three reasons why I still like each of these pick-and-shovel stocks.
The company is well-positioned for the massive multi-year build-out of data centers, renewable energy integration, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Because its commercial and industrial (C&I) segment specializes in complex electrical contracting, it is seeing intense demand from tech companies expanding their artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Additionally, utility companies face a multi-decade grid modernization cycle to handle higher power loads and connect new clean energy sources, giving MYR Group a structural tailwind that isn't reliant on normal economic cycles.

Brown Advisory, an investment management company, released its "Brown Large-Cap Growth Strategy" for the first-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Brown Advisory Large-Cap Growth Strategy experienced a decline in the first quarter of 2026, modestly trailing the Russell 1000 Growth Index. Despite negative absolute returns amidst volatility, relative performance improved significantly as the quarter progressed. Initial pressures stemmed from weaknesses in the software sector, affected by concerns over AI disrupting traditional models. Conversely, sectors like Industrials and Consumer Discretionary positively contributed to performance, while Information Technology and Health Care were the largest detractors. The strategy's ability to outperform in a down market indicates the quality of holdings. As market leadership broadens, the firm's focus remains on maintaining a diversified portfolio of high-quality growth companies, aiming for strong long-term results. Please review the Strategy's top five holdings to gain insights into their key selections for 2026.
In its first-quarter 2026 investor letter, Brown Advisory Large-Cap Growth Strategy highlighted HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A). On July 2, 2026, HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A) closed at $261.70 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $36.54 billion. HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A) posted a one-month return of 7.47%, and its shares gained 3.07% over the past 52 weeks.
Brown Advisory Large-Cap Growth Strategy stated the following regarding HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A) in its Q1 2026 investor letter:
"HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A) is a leading provider of aerospace and defense components, with a focus on highly engineered aftermarket parts and repair solutions. The company operates in niche markets with strong competitive advantages, supported by a long track record of disciplined capital allocation. We initiated the position following a period of share price weakness driven by typical variability in its Defense and ***** e segments. With low penetration of its cost-saving solutions and favorable trends in commercial aerospace, we believe HEICO is well positioned for sustained long-term growth."
HEICO Corporation (NYSE:HEI-A) is not on our list of 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds Heading Into 2026. General Electric Company, doing business as GE Aerospace, designs and produces commercial and defense aircraft engines, integrated engine components, electric power, and aircraft systems. GE is being mispriced by the market as investors panic over tariff-related fears and continue to treat it as a traditional cyclical industrial hardware manufacturer, despite the company’s transformation into a high-quality, services-driven aerospace platform. Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) was among the stocks Jim Cramer highlighted on Mad Money as he noted that the market has an appetite for stocks. A caller asked for Cramer’s opinion on the stock. He replied:
I happen to think it’s a very, very good company. You’re not going to get this company for less than, you know, 30, it’s going to be 40 times earnings, which it is. But it’s engineered products, industrial engines, it’s what’s working now during this administration, and I recommend it.

Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) designs, manufactures, and services control solutions, components, and electronic systems for the aerospace and industrial markets. The company provides both original equipment and aftermarket maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. Carillon Tower Advisers stated the following regarding Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) in its fourth quarter 2025 investor letter:
Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ:WWD) develops and produces control systems and energy conversion solutions and components for the aerospace and industrial end markets. The stock was a steady and strong performer throughout 2025, and once again delivered an impressive quarterly report that was highlighted by particularly strong performance in its aerospace aftermarket vertical. The potential for the long-awaited increased rate of production from the large airframe original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in 2026 could provide an additional tailwind to growth. Investors also remain optimistic about the company’s increasing exposure to newer-generation aircraft that could result in a further step change in aftermarket growth in the latter half of the decade.
