European qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA World Cup continued Thursday, meaning recent Charlotte Hornets trade acquisition Dennis Schroder was in action, playing for his home country of Germany. After defeating Croatia Saturday to lift the DBB Supercup **** le, Germany continued their winning ways behind another strong performance from Schroder.
Schroder finished Thursday's contest against the Netherlands with 23 points in 26 minutes on 7-for-11 shooting from the field, 7-for-7 shooting from the free throw line and 2-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Uefa will press on with its attempt to remove Gianni Infantino as Fifa president despite withdrawing the threat to boycott competitions.
The 55 member **** ociations, plus Europe's members on the Fifa Council, will on Thursday be presented with a letter which guarantees the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan will not be revived.

A former horse events rider is preparing to represent Great Britain at the para-canoe world championships, two years after a fall changed her life.
Saffron Cresswell, 25, from Malvern in Worcestershire, fell from her horse in 2024 and suffered a spinal cord injury which left her paralysed.
She is now set to represent her country in a completely different sport less than a year after discovering it, taking up para-canoeing at Leamington Spa Canoe Club on the River Leam.
"It's a beautiful sport to be involved in," she said ahead of the International Canoe Federation Canoe Sprint and Para-Canoe World Championships in Poznan, Poland, which will run from Wednesday to Sunday.

Elena Rybakina's latest attempt to replace Aryna Sabalenka as world number one came to an abrupt end as she retired injured from her Cincinnati Open quarter-final against Iga Swiatek.
The Kazakh second seed needed to reach the final to knock Sabalenka off the top of the rankings after the Belarusian suffered a surprise defeat by Sara Bejlek in the fourth round on Wednesday.
However, Rybakina managed just five games in her last-eight match against Poland's Swiatek before retiring with a left ankle injury.
Trailing 4-1, the Australian Open champion called for a medical timeout after pulling up at 40-40.
Following a consultation with the trainer, Rybakina played only one more point before quitting.

The largest indoor pickleball event held anywhere in the world was held last weekend, with 3,400+ players descending into Birmingham, England for the 2026 English Open, powered by the ****** ociation of Pickleball Players (APP) and continuing a multi-year relationship between the US-based tour and the biggest European organization out there.
Let's do a quick recap of the results, highlighting the winners, the upsets, and the top International players who made waves. The event featured a slew of pros from the US, joined by some of Europe's top players and even some visitors from the East.

In the final, he topped APP Next player Jake Bower. Bower had taken out top APP player Livornese in the quarters and Poland star Mateusz Matysik to earn his finals spot. In a great display of the spread of the game, the semis of the Women's draw featured players from Spain, Croatia, Netherlands, and the USA. Amy Hunt hailed her British quartet of "superwomen" after they successfully defended their European 4x100m relay **** le to keep Hunt on course for an historic quadruple in Birmingham on a night of back-to-back triumphs for the hosts.
Dina Asher-Smith moved joint-top of the all-time European Athletics Championships medal table with 10, the same as Polish sprinter Irena Szewinska – though the Briton has two more golds with seven and a chance, alongside Hunt, to add another from Sunday's inaugural European mixed 4x100m relay.
Asher-Smith, Hunt, Success Eduan and Imani-Lara Lansiquot blitzed to the finish in 42.05 seconds ahead of Switzerland, who took silver in 43.12s, and bronze went to Poland in 43.15 seconds.
Hunt, who sealed a European sprint double earlier in the week, when asked about the possibility of becoming the first British athlete to win four golds in a single European Championships, said: "Hopefully! We'll have to chat to the coaches about tomorrow, but I'm so, so happy for tonight.
