After playing 13 regular-season non-conference games for years, Dayton will play 14 this season. The NCAA is allowing teams to play as many as 32 games in the regular season for the first time instead of 31.

Dayton will play three exhibition games against Division I opponents for the first time after another NCAA rule change. The Flyers will open the season with five straight home games before playing in the Charleston Classic on Nov. 20 and 22.

The Ascension Parish Little League 12U baseball team ended its journey with a 4-1 loss to Texas West in The Southwest Region Championship Game in Waco, Texas.
The Texas team jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning, but the Louisiana team continued to battle until the final out, as noted by an AP Baseball post.
When the team departed from Gonzales to head to Waco, they were already state champions, region finalists and one of the final teams to compete for an opportunity to represent their region in Williamsport.
"These boys took an entire community on an unforgettable ride," the post read. "They represented Ascension Parish and the state of Louisiana on the regional stage with toughness, heart, sportsmanship and pride."

Marana High School star senior receiver Sean Roebuck Jr. is recovering from severe injuries suffered in a car accident this past weekend that could keep him out of the 2026 high school football season, according to a report by AllSportsTucson.com.
Toby Bourguet, who runs Tucson Turf, a top youth 7-on-7 football program in the nation and is close to the family, provided an update on Roebuck's medical condition on Facebook, sharing what the Roebuck family gave him on Monday, Aug. 10.
"He is being taken care of by an amazing team of doctors and nurses, and we are so grateful for them," Bourguet wrote. "The spine doctor came in and said he is not concerned about the C7 fracture and no surgery is needed. His broken collarbone will just need a splint. His lungs look great. He does have 2 broken ribs and lots of scrapes on his right side.
"He will need plastic surgery to repair the fractured right eye socket, and he also has a broken jaw. He has a small laceration on his liver that they are watching. He will remain sedated and intubated for a little while longer. We don't have a concrete timeline yet for when they will wake him up and remove the breathing tube."
Bourguet added that the Roebucks are thankful for every prayer, text and call and love shown to the family. He also stated on his social-media post to pray for Sean and for the doctors as they make decisions about the next steps.

The Peoria Rivermen settled on a new equipment manager and on a new 2026-27 home opener Monday.
The defending regular-season champions hired Kyle Harden as equipment manager.
The 29-year-old Memphis, Tennessee native spent the last three seasons as equipment manager for Huntsville, one of the top organizations in the SPHL.
He worked in the equipment role at Evansville in the SPHL in the 2021-22 season, and before that served as equipment manager in junior hockey with NAHL Amarillo.
"I'm very excited. Peoria is a great organization, been around for a long time," Harden said. "They were in the SPHL Finals last year, they have the right culture and the right people. I just want to get there and help the guys be comfortable, help them win."

A harrowing video captured the moment a building collapsed as a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia early Monday, killing at least 111 people and injuring 87 others.
The video shows the building shaking and crumbling as onlookers scream before the structure ultimately gives way.
Colombian President Abelardo De La Espriella declared a state of emergency as rescue crews searched collapsed buildings across several cities, according to Reuters.

The eldest son of U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has been charged with child **** ual exploitation, authorities in Colorado announced Monday, Aug. 10.
Tyler Boebert was arrested Sunday on charges of **** ual exploitation of a child and multiple other charges, the Garfield County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Tyler Boebert, a New Castle, Colorado, resident, was arrested following an investigation involving the Garfield County Sheriff's Office and the 9th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
The arrest of the Colorado Republican's son comes as the midterms are just months away. Lauren Boebert first joined Congress in 2021 and represents Colorado's 4th Congressional District, an area covering the eastern part of the state that voted heavily for President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
"I love my son," the U.S. representative told USA TODAY in response to a request for comment. "We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time."
USA TODAY has reached out to Garfield County authorities for further information on the charges.

Chrissy Metz has revealed that she is taking a GLP-1 medication after years of skepticism, saying concerns about her long-term health eventually persuaded her to reconsider.
The 45-year-old This Is Us star said perimenopause, obesity within her family and health problems involving her father all contributed to her decision. She discussed the treatment with her doctor and says she ultimately concluded that trying a GLP-1 could be beneficial for her.
Metz, who is now a brand ambassador for telehealth company Ro, says one of the biggest changes has been a reduction in what she calls "food noise", the persistent thoughts about food and what she would eat next. She has also reported improvements in mobility, joint pain, inflammation, energy and blood work.
Metz began taking a GLP-1 later, in 2026, after she had already publicly discussed changing her diet, exercising and working with a trainer.
Metz told PEOPLE that she had spent years **** uming a GLP-1 either would not work for her or would produce side effects she did not want. Her experience so far has been more positive than she expected.

Jeremy Shockey spent his NFL career determined not to let fatherhood interfere with football. More than two decades later, the former New York Giants tight end has had a major change of heart.
Shockey, 45, revealed on the Sunday, August 2 episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast that he underwent a vasectomy at just 21 years old, shortly after entering the NFL.
He has since had the procedure reversed and told host and fellow ex-NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe, 58, that he wants to have children of his own.
That desire is a far cry from where Shockey's head was at when the Giants drafted him 14th overall in 2002. He opted to get the procedure early in his NFL career, explaining that fatherhood simply didn't fit the life he was building. Oklo Inc. (NYSE:OKLO) just proved it can build a nuclear reactor as fast as it promised. On August 6, the company announced its Groves Isotope Test Reactor in Lockhart, Texas, achieved first criticality, a controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction, less than a year after groundbreaking. It's the first project under the US Department of Energy's Reactor Pilot Program to reach criticality on private land from a greenfield site, and Oklo says it may be the fastest privately funded, privately sited reactor build in history.
CEO Jacob DeWitte called it "an incredible milestone for our team," noting Oklo built Groves from raw land, handled the civil excavation and construction itself, and manufactured or procured every component, including fuel, in-house. On the company's August 7 earnings call, management put the timeline at under 11 months from greenfield to criticality. Groves is meant to anchor Oklo's isotope business, supplying materials for healthcare, industry, research, ******* e, and national security, with revenue expected to begin in the first half of 2027 out of a commercial Idaho radiochemistry lab.
Management says the engineering practices, training programs, and commissioning experience from Groves should reduce execution risk across the company's future isotope, powerhouse, and fuel cycle projects. The balance sheet backs that ambition, with $3 billion in cash and marketable securities on hand after Oklo raised $1.9 billion in 2026 through its at-the-market programs. The broader pipeline kept moving too, with Aurora-INL site excavation nearly complete and a Kiewit memorandum of understanding advancing the 1.2-gigawatt Ohio Power Campus that will supply Meta. Shares jumped more than 10% on August 7, the day after the update, coinciding with the earnings report.
The milestone came alongside a bigger bill. Oklo reported a net loss of $81.6 million for the quarter, with an operating loss of $124.2 million, and the company still has no forward price-to-earnings ratio because it isn't yet profitable. Management raised its 2026 operating cash flow guidance to $120 million to $150 million, up from $80 million to $100 million, and lifted capital expenditure guidance to $400 million to $500 million from $350 million to $450 million, both tied to accelerated procurement for Aurora-INL and opportunistic fuel purchases. Groves itself is also a test reactor for isotopes, not Oklo's commercial power business. The Aurora-INL project that would validate the company's powerhouse platform isn't targeted to start up until 2028, and the first phase of the Aurora-Ohio powerhouse meant to supply Meta's data centers isn't expected until early 2030.

Back in 2016, many expected that then-Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater would never play in another NFL game. Fast forward to 2026, and Bridgewater is retiring (for a second time) after 11 NFL seasons.
Bridgewater suffered a devastating knee injury during practice with the Vikings in 2016. At the time, he had emerged as Vikings' franchise quarterback, but the injury changed the trajectory of his entire career.

The Seattle Seahawks are back on the practice field Monday, as they prepare for the 2026 season and defending their ******* le as reigning World Champions after stomping the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.

Of course, as good as the news that Brown and Richman are suited up is, the fact that there is no sign of Jadarian Price during warmups is not great. Price has been held out of practice the last few days with lower-body soreness, but is expected to be back in action sometime soon. Of course, the longer the absence continues for the Seahawks first round pick, the more questions fans will raise about exactly how sore he is and what might be causing it.

The cyclically adjusted price-to-earnings (CAPE) ratio, which divides the price of an index, such as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC), by its average inflation-adjusted earnings over the last 10 years, has climbed to a startling level. By one calculation, the CAPE ratio currently sits at roughly 41.4 -- only a few points below the all-time high reached in the dot-com era.
A high CAPE ratio usually indicates that stocks are very expensive, at least by historical standards. For context, the CAPE ratio has averaged about 16 to 17 over the last century and a half, and it has crossed the 30 marker only a handful of times, most notably during the Roaring '20s (i.e., just before the Great Depression) and the tech bubble of the late '90s.

Three crypto companies, Bitdeer (BTDR), Forward Industries (FWDI), and Bit Digital (BTBT), report quarterly earnings this week, each coming off a quarter deep in the red.
The three prints span exposure to major tokens, including Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), and Ethereum (ETH). All three **** ets fell last quarter, likely driving heavy paper losses. Now the earnings will show how deep the damage ran.

In the first quarter, Bitdeer reported a $159.5 million net loss, pressured by weaker cryptocurrency prices. Revenue, however, rose to $188.9 million, while adjusted EBITDA remained positive at $14.4 million.
The second-quarter results come amid a strong period for Bitdeer shares. BTDR gained roughly 83% during Q2, significantly outperforming Bitcoin, which fell 14.08% over the same period.
