Arizona State running backs coach Shaun Aguano is used to having a 1,000-yard rusher in his stable. It's pretty much been the norm during his seven-year tenure in Tempe.
But now, with so much depth at the position, several guys are expected to share the load.
Maybe ******* ody reaches 1,000, but multiple backs hit between 500 and 700. The ever-optimistic Aguano offers something better.
"I envision two 1,000-yard rushers," he said. "That's my dream."

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has been speaking to the media before his side's Scottish Premiership match at home to Motherwell on Saturday. Here are his main points:
McInnes admits he's "disappointed" at the news there will be no away supporters at the upcoming Old Firm League Cup tie at Ibrox or this season's league meetings of Celtic and Rangers. The manager says it's "always better when opposition fans are allowed into a derby game," but "there's still got to be behaviours met and obviously that's the decision that's been made".
On the transfer window, McInnes says Rangers have "managed to get a lot of what we were after" and hopes not to be as busy in every transfer window as the club "have to try and bring some sort of calmness and stability".
The manager admits there was a bit of relief when the window closed on Thursday and says it's important to bring a bit of "clarity and calmness" to a club and they can "just knuckle down and get on with the job in hand".
McInnes believes Rangers can "provide so much opportunity for players" and he wants everyone to "really commit to being here".

US stocks edged lower on Friday morning as Treasury yields rose and investors ramped up bets of a Federal Reserve rate hike following a surprisingly strong August jobs report.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) fell 0.3%, and the S&P 500 (^GSPC) declined by 0.1% after the two benchmark indexes posted their best day in nearly a month. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) traded near the flat line.
All eyes were on the August payrolls report, which showed 162,000 jobs added in the previous month, blowing past economists' expectations of 55,000 jobs added. That offered a strong countersignal to the economic data released this week, which suggested the labor market remained stuck in a pattern of sluggish but stable growth.
The question on Wall Street was whether August's strong jobs number would be enough to tilt the Fed toward hiking interest rates. Following the hot jobs report, traders increased their bets of a Fed rate hike in September to roughly 60% odds, according to CME Group.
In individual stock moves, Lululemon stock tanked 16% after the athleisure apparel company cut its revenue and profit guidance, and second quarter revenue declined. There are no other notable earnings reports scheduled for Friday.

Former Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has not played in the NBA since the 2024-25 season when he finished with the Los Angeles Clippers. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2016 draft took a year off after a tumultuous couple of seasons in the league, but is now set to make his return.
Simmons will reportedly sign a 1-year deal with the Sacramento Kings and look to continue his career after such a strong start. Simmons was a 3-time All-Star with the Sixers, won Rookie of the Year in 2018, and made the All-NBA Third Team in 2020. Then injuries took over and the ugly break up in Philadelphia sent him to the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden deal.

Simmons will look to unleash his elite playmaking and defensive ability in Sacramento and get his game back on the right track. When he was right with the Sixers, he was a fantastic player as he averaged 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.7 ******* ists. The Kings offer him an environment where he can find his game again and come along slowly in order to get back at it.

The NFL season is less than a week away from kicking off, beginning a new quest for Super Bowl LXI. There will also be a number of players under the microscope as fantasy football managers look to win their leagues.
One of those players some league managers are banking on to bounce back in a major way is Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. After a historic run in 2024, Barkley took a step back in 2025. In the grand scheme of things, the Eagles offense did as well.

Move over SWPL Sunday, it's SWPL Friday this week as Hibernian host Glasgow City under the lights on Friday night.
While the rest of this weekend's games get under way on Sunday the first, and arguably, the pick of the bunch is at Meadowbank tonight.
Glasgow City and Hibs are both sitting on six points after three games, the former lost to Celtic on the opening while the latter were also beaten by Celtic more recently.

MUMBAI: Former India captain Diana Edulji feels it's time to appoint vice-captain and superstar batter Smriti Mandhana as captain of the Indian women's team "in all three formats of the game."

Mandhana became the leading run-getter in women's internationals, en route to her hundred (124) in the Women's Asia Cup 2026 on Thursday against Hong Kong in Dubai. She broke former Indian women's captain Mithali Raj's record of 10,868 runs. Mandhana also broke the record for most centuries (18) in international cricket, the most by any batter in the women's game, surpassing Meg Lanning and Laura Wolvaardt, who have 17 apiece. Mandhana has two hundreds in T20Is, two in Tests and 14 in ODIs. The elegant left-hander has 93 fifty-plus scores across formats in international cricket, the joint-most by any batter, alongside Raj.

It was also Mandhana's second T20I hundred, thus making the 30-year-old the first Indian woman to score multiple centuries in the shortest format of the game.

"I congratulate Smriti Mandhana on becoming the leading run-getter in women's internationals. I feel that it's high time that the national women's selection committee, led by Amita Sharma, appoints Smriti as the new captain in all three formats of the game. Harmanpreet Kaur can continue to play as a senior player in the side," Edulji said while talking to TOI.

Explaining the reasoning behind seeking a transition in captaincy, Edulji said, "All I'm saying is that Harman is already in her late 30s (37). When would you want her to give up the captaincy and give it to Smriti, who has just entered her 30s (30). I don't want Harman to be dropped from the Indian team. I've no ill-feeling towards her. She's still a great player, but I think Harman should be relieved of the captaincy pressure, and left to just concentrate on her batting, because runs aren't coming off her bat. Harman's form is crucial for our team to win more championships. This move will increase her time span in the India XI. It's very important that someone scores runs in the middle order, because we can't keep depending on our openers all the time. So, I think that this is the right time for Smriti to take over the India captaincy. Her confidence and skill level are high right now. And let Smriti take it forward from here, so that she has a long run (as a captain) then. At least give her white-ball captaincy for now, and maybe Harman can continue as a Test captain."

Let's start with the fact that Rutgers paid UMass $1.55 million for the game and then proceeded to lose to a team on a 16-game losing streak, a team that hadn't won a game in 677 days.
Oh, and Rutgers lit off a pre-planned fireworks show after the game.

Borussia Dortmund have submitted their squad for the league phase of the Champions League to UEFA.
Still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the spring, captain Emre Can has remarkably been left out of the squad.
It was thought that the veteran could be an option later in the first half of the season, but BVB apparently don't see that as realistic.
New signings Giannis Konstantelias, who suffered a torn ACL last week, and Jefferson Lerma were also not included in the squad. BVB coach Niko Kovac recently said that patience will be needed with the latter as he continues to acclimatize following his move from Ecuadorian side Independiente.
"He still needs time, and that's completely normal," Kovac said.

The Premier League have announced their nominees for the Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards for August, with ****** nal receiving nominations in both categories.
Mikel Arteta has been nominated for Manager of the Month, having led ****** nal to two wins and a goal difference of +4 in the Gunners' opening two games of the new campaign.
No other manager can better that, but Enzo Maresca can match it with Manchester City. Though City have conceded twice more than ****** nal, they've also scored twice more.
It's not hard to guess the other two nominees, as they're the managers of the other two clubs to win two from two – Hull City's Sergej Jakirovic and Chelsea's Xabi Alonso. Voting is open here until Monday, September 7th at 12:00 BST.

Liverpool have named their squad for the 2026/27 Champions League league phase, and there is no point dressing it up, two senior players have been left behind. Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo are not in Andoni Iraola's List A squad, which means they are unavailable unless changes are made later.
That is the headline. It is also the message. Iraola has looked at his options and decided that, for this part of the campaign, neither player is essential.
Chiesa's omission stands out. He stayed at Anfield this summer despite more uncertainty over his future, hoping to rebuild momentum after a stop-start spell shaped by injuries. He has not featured in the Premier League yet this season because of a minor issue, and with Liverpool short of proven width on the right, there was a route back into the picture. This decision closes that route, at least in Europe.
Endo's situation is less surprising, but no less significant. He has been working back from a pre-season injury and has clearly lost ground. Liverpool have younger legs and, in Iraola's view, better fits for the way he wants the side to play. At 33, Endo now looks like a squad player whose role is shrinking fast.

Former Nebraska football and current Kansas City Chiefs running back Emmett Johnson has impressed over the course of training camp and preseason. Chiefs coach Andy Reid identified one specific area that the rookie has improved on over the course of the last couple of weeks.
Johnson had a productive preseason. He recorded 26 carries for 123 rushing yards and one touchdown. He officially secured the number two running back spot on the team's depth chart behind Kenneth Walker, and he is now in a position to take on a bigger role.
There was one specific thing that Johnson got better at over the course of the preseason, as Reid told the media.
"Pass protection. We knew he could run the ball, but the thing we had to see was the pass protection. For him to be that number two back, you gotta be able to do that."
Pass protection is an essential tool running backs need in modern college football. Johnson did it at a high level in Lincoln, and now it seems like he is translating those skills to the NFL.

Billionaire David Tepper used the second quarter to make a striking trade within the AI hardware chain. Appaloosa Management cut its Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) share count by 41.4%, while increasing Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) for a sixth consecutive quarter. The filing does not disclose Tepper's rationale. The positions instead contrast a cyclical HBM supplier with a diversified advanced foundry serving nearly every major chip designer. That makes the comparison about earnings durability as much as exposure to total AI demand.

Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has a powerful rebuttal. It reported record fiscal third-quarter results as high-bandwidth memory became critical to AI accelerators. HBM requires more capacity and technical sophistication than conventional memory, potentially supporting stronger pricing and margins. If supply remains disciplined while demand expands, Micron's cycle may be structurally better than the old commodity pattern. The bear case is its planned capital spending of more than $25 billion and the possibility that today's shortages invite too much future supply.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (NYSE:TSM) offers a broader toll-road thesis. Its second-quarter gross margin reached 67.7%, and the ongoing 2-nanometer ramp can deepen its lead in advanced manufacturing. It benefits whether customers favor Nvidia, AMD, custom accelerators, or other designs. However, that dominance brings enormous fabrication costs, customer concentration, geopolitical exposure, and the difficulty of maintaining exceptional margins while new capacity comes online.
The two holdings do not necessarily predict weaker AI demand. They simply provide two different ways to monetize it. Micron has greater operating leverage if HBM prices stay tight, but Taiwan Semiconductor has more diversified exposure across the entire computing stack. The first offers a sharper cyclical upside; the second offers a more durable platform with risks investors cannot ignore. That tradeoff explains why reducing one position need not invalidate its thesis.

In one of the first days of the 2026-27 college football season, chaos ensued at the SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. On Thursday, Sept. 3, coach Greg Schiano's Rutgers Scarlet Knights hosted coach Joe Harasymiak's Massachusetts Minutemen for their first game of the campaign. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Knights, the Minutemen defeated them by 16 points, 37-21.
It was an embarrassing defeat, to say the least, for the Scarlet Knights, as they were the overwhelming favorites to beat the Minutemen. As the rest of the college football world reacts in shock to the game, insider Brett McMurphy called out the Big Ten Conference, where the Scarlet Knights play, following the Minutemen victory with a post on X/Twitter.
"Can a conference be considered the nation's best conference if one of its teams loses to UMass? Asking for a friend," McMurphy wrote.

Chinese diversified technology conglomerate Tencent (TCEHY) recently reported that its new artificial intelligence (AI) model performs better than models belonging to relatively newer labs like Z.AI and Moonshot. The Justice Department has spent years attempting to break up Google's gargantuan advertising business across two separate antitrust lawsuits: one filed in 2020 focused on Google's dominance in search, and a second filed in 2023 that specifically targeted Google's ad-technology business. Both cases argued that the search giant's grip on the digital ad economy represents an illegal monopoly.
Courts have largely sided with the government in both cases. In 2024, a court determined that Google's search business, including its exceedingly lucrative search-ad operation, was an illegal monopoly, claiming that the tech giant had "exercised its monopoly power" to dominate the search industry and search ads. Last April, a second court case — this one focused specifically on Google's ad-tech business — also came to the same conclusion.
Following the 2024 ruling, Justice Department officials suggested a variety of ways Google's search business could be broken up, including divesting its Chrome browser and Android operating system. But in September 2025, the judge overseeing that case, Amit Mehta, rejected those divestiture requests, ruling that Google could keep both Chrome and Android. He did order the company to end exclusive default-placement deals and share certain search data with competitors (remedies that Google is currently appealing).
That same pattern held this week. In a ruling handed down on Wednesday, federal judge Leonie M. Brinkema of the Eastern District of Virginia, who oversaw the ad-tech case, said that Google would be able to keep its advertising business. Instead of selling it, the search giant will instead be required to adjust its business practices to favor competitors, Brinkema said. The New York Times notes that the judge's ruling "did not provide specifics" as to how Google should go about doing that.
Brinkema's full written ruling will remain under seal for 14 days to allow those involved to issue necessary redactions. Her finding that Google had acted illegally in maintaining its ad-tech business dates back to April of last year; this week's decision addressed only the remedy.

In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rasmus Højlund discussed, among other things, his time at Manchester United.
When asked about his thoughts on why things didn't work out at Old Trafford, Højlund singled out the arrival of Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag's dismissal.
"I don't think anything specific went wrong. I arrived at a club with a manager: it was a difficult year, with many injuries, but we won the FA Cup and I was the top scorer. Then we went through a difficult period and Amorim arrived, an excellent coach but with a different playing style. The team had to adapt, and it was complicated. We all struggled. My first year was a success, the second wasn't. But I played in the Europa League final; if we had won, it would have been a different story. The young Dane moved to Man United ahead of the 2023/24 season from Atalanta on the back of a €79.8m move. The price tag definitely did not help matters for Højlund. While teams often go out of their way to sign players for beyond-reason prices, something United have been particularly wont to do, those price tags do dictate how a player's time at the club is perceived, even when players often hardly play a role in deciding the fee agreed between the negotiating clubs.

Yardeni, a longtime Wall Street economist and founder of Yardeni Research, calls this the "G-shaped economy." Government bond yields across major economies surged to multi-decade highs this week in a synchronized sell-off that market observers have compared to the 2008 financial crisis.
Japan's 10-year yield crossed 3% for the first time since 1996, while US Treasuries and European debt hit their own historic thresholds simultaneously.
Japan's moves proved the most striking. The 10-year JGB reached 3%, the 5-year hit a record 2.26%, the 2-year touched a 31-year peak near 1.80%, and the 20-year climbed to 3.885%, levels unseen since 1996.
US Treasury yields pushed higher, too. The 10-year rate reached roughly 4.79% - 4.81%, the highest since January 2025, while the 2-year rate hit a 19-month high of 4.38%.
European markets followed the same pattern. German 10-year yields climbed to a 15-year high near 3.36%, French yields reached 4.22%, and UK gilts touched levels last seen in 2008. A Bloomberg gauge of global government debt yields hit 3.72%, its highest since mid-2008.

Legacy Edge Advisors, a Syosset, N.Y.-based registered investment advisor with $1.2 billion in client ***** ets, has hired Christopher Weyrauch as its first CEO.
Weyrauch had been head of wealth management at Citizens Financial Group from 2021 to 2024, a role he took after a 28-year run at TIAA, where he was the last CEO and president of TIAA Life Insurance Company.
Legacy Edge Advisors was founded by TIAA wealth management advisors Scott Israel, Robert Rom, Jason Kass and Tim Urie, who split off to start their own firm. They have since added more former TIAA advisors and an advisor for Merrill Lynch, according to Israel.
"Our focus was to build something that was viable, profitable and a place that our colleagues from TIAA and [advisors from] elsewhere could have a place that would give them what TIAA clients are used to," Israel said. "I'll call that phase one, and we did that."

Michael: Apart from 20 minutes in the second half, it was a pretty dire performance. Like many times before, there doesn't seem to be a game plan or any tactics. Ante Suto and Thibaut Klidje did more in their cameo appearances than Nathan Lowe has done all season, I don't understand why he is our first choice striker.
