On Sept. 27, the Bayada Regatta — one of the world's largest and longest-running rowing competitions for people with disabilities — is to return to Pennsauken.
The race is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Camden County Boathouse, located at 7050 N. Park Drive at Cooper River Park.Attendance and parking are free for spectators.
Participants train and practice with their local rowing club, then join together for the annual opportunity to showcase their skills. The race participants range from beginners to Paralympians, who all use adaptive boat equipment for the race.

Several people were injured – with one of them hospitalized – when a railing collapsed during a high school football game at the Minnesota Vikings' TCO Stadium in Eagan on Friday.
The freak incident happened during the game between Cretin-Derham Hall and St. Thomas Academy at the Vikings' training campus, with students leaning against a railing as Cretin-Derham Hall players celebrated in front of them.
Video shared to social media shows the railing at the front of the bleachers collapsing, sending spectators crashing to the ground, some of them landing on top of CDH players.
In an email to families, Cretin-Derham Hall President Jeb Myers said 20-30 players fell between four and six feet to the ground.
The Minnesota Vikings issued a statement saying that several people were treated at the scene by paramedics, with one sent to a hospital for further evaluation.

Uefa has banned Fenerbahce midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for his team's opening two Champions League fixtures following a series of provocations and insults during a chaotic play-off victory away at Lyon last month.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has called a 43% ticket price increase for next year's men's Ashes Test at Edgbaston "really poor".
The Birmingham ground will host the third Test of the best-of-five series between England and Australia next summer with ticket prices in the Hollies Stand - which holds almost 6,000 spectators - costing £165, up from £115 in 2023.
Elsewhere in the stadium, members can purchase tickets for £92, but the cheapest adult tickets across the first three days are £115, with every ticket carrying a £2.50 booking fee.
"This is really poor," Vaughan posted on social media in response to the news.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift wanted their wedding to be "intimate and genuine," Kelce said on the first episode of his New Heights podcast since the July 3 ceremony. Wimbledon drew everyone across the pond to see Serena Williams make a comeback (and have a Pimm's Cup).
Personally, I duck at any projectile flying for my face, meaning I'm not interested in playing basketball, tennis or soccer. However, I have been watching all these sporting events with a laser focus on the celebrity spectators—more specifically, their outfits. Stars have treated the court, pitch and royal box like a personal runway, with the likes of Taylor Swift, Kate Middleton, Shakira and others making the actual match feel like the side show. Below, the best-dressed cohort that made me wish I'd gotten tickets to see the matches.

Venus Williams lost her 15th singles match in a row as she was beaten by fellow American Sofia Kenin in a 2am finish at the US Open.
The 46-year-old very nearly took the first-round match into a deciding set, but 2020 Australian Open champion Kenin saved seven set points to win 6-2 7-6 (8-6).
The match did not begin until 00:13 local time in New York as it followed Mariano Navone's five-set victory over Novak Djokovic on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
It was the latest starting match in US Open history, and there was barely 1,000 spectators left by the end.
"It's not ideal," Williams - who was given a wildcard to play her home Grand Slam tournament - said about the midnight start.

CHICAGO — On the last day of June, the flags danced in a stiff wind above Wrigley Field and Moe Mullins arrived more than three hours before first pitch, just like usual. He set up his camping chair under the ash tree at the corner of Waveland and Kenmore, across the street from the back of the left-field bleachers, and the neighborhood slowly came to life.
In time, the street vendors appeared and the merchandise stands opened and the patio at Murphy's, a block away, started to fill in. Soon, the spectators gathered along the brick wall and waited for the bleacher gates to open. For a while, though, it was quiet, and the last refuge of old Wrigley, and its old neighborhood, belonged to Mullins.
He is the unofficial mayor of Waveland and Kenmore avenues, the elder statesman among the characters who give it character. The Chicago Cubs this weekend celebrated their 150th anniversary as a National League member. They've spent 110 of those years at Wrigley, where the corner just beyond left field remains old-school, a small throwback in the middle of ever-expanding change.
The Cubs have bought up many of the nearby buildings. The rooftops are a little less organically charming and a lot more expensive. Trendy bars and restaurants have moved in all over. Even Wrigley's iconic marquee comes with a corporate sponsor, and has for more than a decade.
The corner, though, remains the corner. Lawn chairs. Lifers. Good banter, some of which is even suitable for children. The most prominent ad there is handwritten, for the Gatorade that Dave Davison sells out of a cooler: $3 for Cubs fans and $4 for Cards fans, with the $5 for White Sox fans crossed out and replaced with "stay thirsty."

The two clubs could face a second home game behind closed doors should there be another incident where either club's followers participate in "unacceptable conduct" during a Scottish Cup tie.

Enes Kanter Freedom's battle with the WNBA rolls on after the former NBA center was ejected from Sunday night's Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky matchup following a confrontation with Chicago guard Natasha Cloud.
Kanter Freedom was sitting courtside wearing a shirt reading "WOMAN noun. adult human female." Late in the third quarter, Cloud could be seen shouting at the self-proclaimed "human rights activist," while Kanter responded by stretching out his arms and taking a step toward the court before being removed by security.
On Wednesday, Fox News reported that Kanter Freedom, who has since been banned from attending Sky home games, has sent a letter to the WNBA, requesting, among other things, "an explanation for the basis of my ejection" and a full refund for the cost of his tickets.
Kanter Freedom claims Cloud was the instigator for the incident, saying the WNBA veteran "turned from the court, approached my seat, and began yelling, cursing, and pointing in my direction."
"According to the WNBA, any physical or verbal altercation with a fan is treated as conduct detrimental to the game," Kanter Freedom wrote. "The WNBA Office holds the authority to issue heavy fines or multi-game suspensions for players who cross the line into berating or cursing at spectators. Yet Ms. Cloud's conduct of yelling, swearing, and pointing at a spectator (me) appears to have escaped any accountability and was, in fact, defended by her coach."

The heart of the nation's capital is set to be packed with more than 140,000 fans as Freedom 250th Grand Prix kicks off Sunday, sending race cars zipping through Washington, DC, for the first time in IndyCar history.
The race is set to begin shortly after 1 p.m. ET on the National Mall with a course that takes seven turns between the U.S. Capitol and around Smithsonian museums and the National Archives. Racers will drive 147 laps around the 1.7-mile course for a total of 250 miles before spectators, including President Donald Trump.
Trump is also expected to take a ride around the track in his presidential limousine before things kick off.

Following Saturday's UFC Fight Night: Hernandez vs. Rodrigues event at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., UFC CEO Dana White announced the recipients of the performance-bases bonuses.
Fight of the Night honors went to the main event. No. 7 ranked middleweight Anthony Hernandez and No. 10 ranked Gregory Rodrigues headlined the fight card and did not disappoint. Rodrigues won via unanimous decision but the match will likely be a Fight of the Year candidate. The back and forth war earned each an extra $100,000.
Banking the other two Performance of the Night awards were lightweight MarQuel Mederos and women's flyweight Carli Judice.

Thirty-five police officers were injured and several football fans detained after violence broke out at Friday's German Cup match between Waldhof Mannheim and Kaiserslautern, police said.
A total of 85 people required medical treatment, with eight taken to hospital. Their injuries were believed to be minor, a police spokeswoman said.
Around 23,500 spectators attended the sold-out match at Mannheim's Carl-Benz Stadium on Friday evening, including some 3,500 away fans.

Indiana head football coach Curt Cignetti said he'd like the Hoosiers to play Notre Dame, but under certain conditions.
"Yeah, I'd like to play Notre Dame. They ought to come to our place twice, and we'll go up there once, since they're not in a conference," Cignetti said during an interview on Big Ten Network with Dave Revsine on Friday.
"I'd love to play them," he added. "It'd be a great in-state game."
Notre Dame might scoff at having to play twice at Indiana, where Memorial Stadium has a capacity of 53,524. Meanwhile, Notre Dame Stadium seats 77,622 spectators.
Indiana and Notre Dame were set to play each other in a home-and-home series during the 2030 and 2031 seasons. But the Hoosiers decided to back out of the agreement, The Athletic's Pete Sampson reported.

Organizers of the European Athletics Championships were hoping for a final day without problems on Sunday after the Birmingham event was again struck by negative headlines.
Transport away from the Alexander Stadium was suspended after events finished on Saturday and some medal ceremonies had to be postponed until Sunday. A statement from organizers said "necessary security measures" were carried out while police arrested a man on suspicion of fraud.
"The safety and wellbeing of our spectators, athletes, workforce and the wider Championships family will always be our first priority," the statement added.
"We recognise that the delays presented challenges for those affected and would like to thank everyone for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the evening."
The problems followed a championships dominated by talk of huge swathes of empty seats early in the seven-day event and heavy criticism from spectators who have attended over high ticket and food prices.

That left Boles furious that the track was not ready in time by the promoter of this weekend's event, and a key, longtime IndyCar ally, Green Savoree Promotions.

Behind and on the right side is fans, lined up and squeezing their way in for a look at the competitors. It makes players feel cornered, surrounded and uncomfortable.

MARKHAM, Ontario – IndyCar's first weekend on the streets of Markham has gotten off to a disastrous start, with the series having to call off its Friday practice session for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham.
On Thursday, it became clear to those in the paddock that the race's promoter, Green Savoree Racing Promotions, was well behind on its preparation for the new street race on the 12-turn, 2.19-mile track. Despite the series reiterating its intentions to race Thursday evening and throughout the day Friday, Green Savoree Racing Promotions never got the track to a place that met the regulations of the FIA and IndyCar's competition team.
IndyCar's first open gate day in Markham collapsed as each hour passed, and no race cars made it on track. Throughout the day, spectators – who had free admission to Friday's (lack of) activities – were left mainly in the dark about postponements and eventual cancellations that took place. Green Savoree Racing Promotions failed to give consistent public address updates on changes to the schedule, even to the point of having teams pack cars back into transporters and drivers leaving the track before IndyCar made the postponement public.
Mishaps at new street circuits are bound to happen. The most recent example being in 2021, when grandstands were still being built the morning of the inaugural Music City Grand Prix in downtown Nashville. On Thursday, it became clear to those in the paddock that the race's promoter, Green Savoree Racing Promotions, was well behind on its preparation for the new street race on the 12-turn, 2.19-mile track. Despite the series reiterating its intentions to race Thursday evening and throughout the day Friday, Green Savoree Racing Promotions never got the track to a place that met the regulations of the FIA and IndyCar's competition team.
IndyCar's first open gate day in Markham collapsed as each hour passed, and no race cars made it on track. Throughout the day, spectators – who had free admission to Friday's (lack of) activities – were left mainly in the dark about postponements and eventual cancellations that took place. Green Savoree Racing Promotions failed to give consistent public address updates on changes to the schedule, even to the point of having teams pack cars back into transporters and drivers leaving the track before IndyCar made the postponement public.
Mishaps at new street circuits are bound to happen. The most recent example being in 2021, when grandstands were still being built the morning of the inaugural Music City Grand Prix in downtown Nashville. Roughly a thousand spectators cheered as teens Kylie Ritchie of Connecticut and Bridget Kavan of Nebraska ran from platform to platform, swinging on monkey bars and a rope, heaving weights and clambering up a wall in an American Ninja Warrior-like competition.
Among the onlookers was President Donald Trump, who watched the semi-finals and finals of the Patriot Games on Aug. 11. He later presented the two winners — a boy and a girl — with two golden trophies and $125,000 in scholarship prize money each.
Joining Trump inside the sprawling Spire Academy athletic facility located just outside Geneva in Northeast Ohio's wine country were Ohio Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and ESPN personality Pat McAfee.
Speaking in a mid-event interview, Trump said the athletes were doing "fantastically well" and that he was looking forward to watching the finals.
"This has been as exciting as everything; I didn't know what to expect," Trump said of the Patriot Games.
