Mark Cuban sees another massive workplace shift coming, and it could impact how Americans build careers.
The billionaire investor of 'Shark Tank' fame believes AI could now play a much bigger role in how workers deal with challenging situations, sharpen their judgment, and prepare for more valuable work.
In turn, that allows businesses to train people a lot quicker and at a far lower cost.
Cuban is among the select group of investing giants who remain broadly optimistic about AI. He feels that businesses that embrace AI will become much more productive, while workers who use it will still find opportunities.
Nevertheless, that prediction underscores an uncomfortable trade-off.

How hard do you have to ram a fish to make it explode? Ask an orca.
Barreling into large, heavy fish with enough force to blast them into instant chum is a previously unknown collaborative feeding strategy among orcas, scientifically called Orcinus orca, also known as killer whales.
But in 2024 and 2025, divers captured underwater video of two such events in the Mexican Pacific Ocean and in the Gulf of California. The footage suggests that the brutal body slamming may be in service of a meal — or perhaps a form of play for the orcas, researchers reported Thursday in the journal Frontiers in Ethology.
"I filmed the first event several years ago and couldn't believe what I was witnessing," said lead study author Kathryn Ayres, a research scientist for the marine conservation nonprofit Beneath the Waves and the first to capture orcas' high-speed ramming on video.
Ayres studies sharks but observing orcas that preyed on sharks in the Gulf of California sparked her interest in killer whale behavior. She filmed the encounter on July 29, 2024, while diving as an ocean safari tour guide with the group Latitude Encounters, near the coast of San José del Cabo in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

Ferran Torres’s future at Barcelona is looking increasingly uncertain amid growing interest in the forward following his World Cup heroics and the club’s reluctance to offer an extension just yet.
The Shark scored the winner in the World Cup final and has admirers in PSG, Real Madrid and Liverpool this summer, if the rumor mill is to be believed.
PSG certainly appear a realistic destination, with the club having presented a very attractive offer that has made Ferran have doubts over staying at Barcelona, according to Sport.
The report adds that Torres has also been hurt by the fact that Barca have never seriously considered him as first choice for the No. 9 spot following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
Barcelona do want Ferran to stay but aren’t thinking about changes to his salary or his role in the squad and are now waiting to hear the World Cup winner’s thoughts on his future.

Women's strawweight Fatima Kline extended her winning steak to four consecutive fights at UFC Oklahoma City. The 26 year-old dominated Tabatha Ricci in main card action at Paycom Arena and jumped into the Top 10 rankings.
With the win over "Baby Shark" and a new ranking, Kline has her eyes set on the top of the division. "The Archangel" wants to face former two-time ***** leholder Zhang Weili next.
"I think the perfect person to put me right in line to beat and to get a ***** le shot after would be Zhang Weili or Tatiana [Suarez]," Kline told MMAJunkie.com. "Virna [Jandiroba] already lost to the belt. I guess Tatiana did also lose to the belt, too. I think Weili would be the perfect person.
"I think it would be a great fight. I think people think I could beat everybody except for Weili. I kind of see that in the comments. ... And so I would love to prove people wrong with that one and I'd love to prove it to myself. If she decides she's coming back to 115, I'd love to welcome her back."
The win over Ricci was Kline's first fight of 2026 and would like to get back in there before the end of the year. She's fought five times in the octagon since her UFC debut in July 2024.

Soccernews is reporting that NEC Nijmegen are in negotiations with Cape Verde international Jamiro Monteiro. The 32-year-old left PEC Zwolle a few weeks ago after his contract expired and has been playing for the Sharks in their debut World Cup campaign. Monteiro and NEC are said to be close to an agreement to bring the midfielder to the club for the upcoming Eredivisie season.
Monteiro played in all four of Cape Verde’s World Cup games as the side made it out of the group stages and almost shocked Argentina in the Round of 32. Monteiro began his career in the Netherlands with Cambuur and Heracles before departing. He then went on to play for Metz in Ligue 1, Philadelphia Union and San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS before returning to Europe to play for Gaziantep. In 2024 the Cape Verde midfielder joined PEC Zwolle and over the past two seasons he has played 52 games for the club, scoring five goals and providing five ***** ists.
Monteiro can play as a central midfielder, out wide or behind the striker.

Now the comeback story has run into a new problem: it cannot produce enough chips to keep up with orders, and the shortage is starting to show up in prices. Broadcom (AVGO) has become one of the most important companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure boom, thanks to its growing role in custom silicon, networking chips, and semiconductor solutions used by some of the world's largest technology companies. While memory chipmakers have captured much of the spotlight this year, Broadcom has quietly strengthened its position behind the scenes by helping major customers design application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) chips tailored to their own AI workloads.
That position became even more important this week. Broadcom announced an expanded long-term partnership with Apple (AAPL) under which it will develop and supply custom ASIC chips through 2031. While Broadcom did not disclose the financial terms, Apple later revealed that it expects to spend more than $30 billion under the agreement.

Amazon (AMZN) is heading back to the bond market, this time looking to raise at least $25 billion. The plan, revealed in an SEC filing, splits the debt into eight parts that mature between three and 40 years. Officially, the money is for general corporate purposes, including debt repayment and funding investments. In reality, it's all about feeding Amazon's AI infrastructure. Barclays, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley are running the deal, with Amazon signaling this to be its last debt raise of the year.
The numbers behind Amazon's AI push explain the reason it needs the cash. The company plans to spend roughly $200 billion in 2026, a big jump from $131 billion in 2025. Even for a company as cash-rich as Amazon, spending on this scale is hard to fund from cash alone. Prior to this, Amazon had already raised around $54 billion in the U.S. and Europe, along with another $10 billion in Canada. CEO Andy Jassy has defended the heavy spending, calling AI a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that's worth betting big on.

A surge in shark sightings and a swimmer's shark bite have beachgoers on the East Coast on high alert.
A small sand tiger shark is likely what bit a man who sustained non-life-threatening lacerations to his foot while swimming at Jones Beach State Park Field 6 on Long Island over the Fourth of July weekend, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation determined.
The beach was temporarily closed while state officials searched for more sharks, but they reopened it to restricted swimming after an hour.

Days before, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation (NYC Parks) alerted beachgoers to expect intermittent beach closures at Rockaway Beach in Queens, New York City's largest beach, due to multiple shark sightings.

Scrum-half Raffi Quirke has been called into the England squad for their Nations Championship match against Argentina next Saturday.
Quirke, who has signed for Newcastle Red Bulls after moving from Sale Sharks, is a replacement for the injured Alex Mitchell, who was forced off with a hamstring injury in Saturday's 73-8 win over Fiji in Liverpool
The 24-year-old also replaced Mitchell in this year's Six Nations squad when Mitchell was again ruled out through injury.
Quirke has two international caps, becoming England's youngest scrum-half in more than 90 years when he made his debut in 2021.

Record shark sightings are being reported at a popular beach in New York. It comes as local authorities expand surveillance, especially by drone. NBC News' Steven Romo reports.

Cal State Bakersfield announced another head coach hiring on Tuesday, but this was done simply by removing the interim tag off Ray Alvarado as women’s basketball coach.
Alvarado was hired as the CSUB **** ociate head coach in summer 2025 and was suddenly named interim head coach when the university put former head coach Ari Wideman on administrative leave in March. Alvarado coached the Roadrunners’ last two Big West Conference games of the 2025-26 season. Wideman officially resigned in April and Alvarado was handling the coaching duties, recruiting and summer basketball camp stuff until Tuesday’s announcement was made by CSUB Acting Director of Athletics Sarah Tuohy.
The move seemed natural given Alvarado being a Central Valley native, vast area coaching experience and his program-building skills. Following a national search, Alvarado is now the official head coach.
“Ray brings exactly what we were looking for at the helm of our women's basketball program," Tuohy said in a statement to announce Alvarado’s new status. "His extensive coaching career, including his experience at the junior college level, has given him a deep understanding of how to develop players and win — and his record speaks for itself. What excites me just as much is his connection to the Central Valley. That connection is core to what it means to be a Roadrunner, and Ray is going to recruit this backyard with a passion and credibility that will be transformative for our program.”
Before arriving in Bakersfield, Alvarado was the head coach at Hawaii Pacific University, leading the Sharks’ women’s basketball program after a very successful 13-year run as head coach for Visalia’s College of the Sequoias (COS). At COS, Alvarado guided the Giants to a CCCAA State Championship Final Four appearance in 2022 and multiple Elite Eight berths while earning five Central Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors.

Jazz Carlin, who won two silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, was born in Swindon, where she trained with Tigersharks.
