Catherine Breed completed a never-before-attempted 900-mile open-water swim along the entire California coast on Sunday.
The 33-year-old, record-setting marathon swimmer from Mill Valley battled chilly, unpredictable Pacific waters for four months. She began the unprecedented expedition at the Oregon border on July 1, and expected to reach Mexican waters in November. Breed finished ahead of schedule.
"For months, I measured my world in the next few miles," Breed said. "Every message from someone following along, every person who came out to cheer, helped me get back in the water."
Along the way, Breed swam past the Golden Gate Bridge, the kelp forests of the Monterey Bay and around Point Conception near Santa Barbara, averaging more than 10 miles a day through notoriously rugged waters. Fans following along on social media and gathering at meeting points celebrated each stroke.
The marathon swim project, dubbed "Swim California," was a complex team operation. In the water, a pacer tossed Breed protein shakes in a thermos for sustenance. Breed and the crew accompanying her in a 52-foot sailboat made land each night before returning to the spot she left off. At times, they were forced to wait for suitable weather to advance through the coast's most remote stretches.

A quiet pub lunch for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has created considerably more noise online. The Duke and ****** ss of Sussex were photographed holding hands while walking to a historic Cotswolds pub during their latest stay in Britain. Although the couple reportedly behaved like ordinary customers once inside, their photographed arrival quickly became the focus of a heated debate. Critics accused the Sussexes of importing a "Hollywood circus" into the picturesque English countryside, while others questioned why two private citizens grabbing lunch had become news at all.

Harry and Meghan were photographed heading to The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, on October 1, marking their first joint public outing in Britain since returning to the country. According to The Sun, the couple held hands as they approached the traditional 16th-century pub. Meghan wore an all-black ensemble with contrasting white shoes, while Harry dressed casually in jeans and a jacket. He completed his outfit with a Santa Barbara Fire Department baseball cap. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were reportedly at school during the outing. The couple apparently opted for hearty British dishes once inside. Meghan reportedly ordered gluten-free beer-battered haddock and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, while Harry selected chicken, ham and leek pie served with mashed potatoes, greens and gravy.

The cozy outing drew a considerably less welcoming response from some social-media users.

Even wilder, Beatles insider Chris O'Dell says she was actually sitting at Ringo's kitchen table when George finally told him, "I'm in love with your wife." According to O'Dell, Ringo responded, "Better you than someone we don't know." O'Dell said Ringo was nevertheless heartbroken by what happened. (Ringo got remarried in 1981 to Bond girl Barbara Bach, so he's doing alright!)
Somehow, George and Ringo's friendship survived and they worked together many more times (notably on the Beatles' reunion tracks "Free as a Bird," "Real Love," and "Now and Then.") When George died in 2001, Ringo called him "a best friend of mine," adding, "I loved him very much."

When it comes to retirement security, Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, Barbara Corcoran and Robert Herjavec have it made, amassing multiples of the $1.46 million nest egg many Americans believe they need to retire comfortably.
According to The Street, real-estate maven Corcoran, 77, is worth an estimated $100 million. O'Leary, 72, who became a millionaire when he sold his software company Softkey to Mattel for $4.2 billion in 1999, is worth $400 million. Tech security pro Herjavec, 63, is worth north of $300 million.
Jeff Bezos backs a platform that lets anyone invest in rental homes for as little as $100 — 6 ways to build wealth like a landlord without actually being one
Dave Ramsey warns nearly 50% of Americans are making 1 big Social Security mistake. Here's what it is and 3 simple steps to fix it ASAP

Dolly Parton was a master musician, accomplished cook, and, perhaps most importantly, an excellent communicator. Parton could masterfully handle any insult, joke, or mean-spirited words that came her way.
Communication expert Dorie Clark broke down one of Dolly Parton's most infamous interviews with Barbara Walters from 1978. In it, Walters (knowingly or unknowingly) talked down to Parton about her appearance and upbringing.
But in true Dolly style, she defused anger and outrage with a strategy Clark calls a "label upgrade." It's a trick that worked well for Parton, and one Clark is sure can work for anyone during conversations that may turn offensive without warning.
In the clip shared on her Instagram, Clark highlights moments from the 1978 ABC News interview between Walters and Parton.
Walters first questions Parton about her looks, stating, "Dolly, you don't have to look like this. You're very beautiful. You don't have to wear the blonde wigs. You don't have to wear the extreme clothes, right?"

Over the last couple of years, we've seen the same players who helped make Juventus Women what they have become over their first decade of existence head out on new adventures one by one. For much of that Italian core, it has involved a move to the United States and the NWSL. First there was Sofia Cantore and Lisa Boattin, then Cristiana Girelli head to the West Coast and the sunny weather of California.
Now, we have the latest pillar of the Bianconere's past heading across the Atlantic to play outside of Italy for the first time in her very accomplished career.
The club announced on Friday that Italian winger Barbara Bonansea — one of the final pieces of the original Juventus Women roster to still be playing in Turin — is heading to the United States and joining the San Diego Wave on loan. As part of the move, the 35-year-old Bonansea extended her contract with Juve until 2028. But she is now very much an NWSL player, and much like when Girelli joined Bay FC, it will be one that sees her join one of the best leagues in the world for more than just the current campaign.
The loan move, as of now, will run through June 2027, according to the Wave's press release announcing the signing.
With BB heading to San Diego and the sunny beaches that come with it, that now leaves just two original pieces of the Bianconere's ******* le-winning debut side still on the roster: Martina Rosucci and Cecilia Salvai.

"Shark Tank" star Barbara Corcoran has some thoughts about reality TV personality Kylie Jenner's yearslong home design project.
When asked to weigh in on the 29-year-old makeup mogul's build-in-progress, which has been in the works since 2020, the 77-year-old real estate tycoon gave TMZ a candid response.
"Not worth it," Corcoran said. "You should see my house. It's much nicer."
Corcoran elaborated on her advice, explaining, "You don't enjoy the home when you're too particular about the design. When you finally get it, it's like a showcase, and you don't really live there."
The entrepreneur insisted she speaks from experience, adding it's a lesson that she's "learned over the years."

Selena Gomez wanted her wedding to Benny Blanco to feel personal rather than overly fancy. The couple married in a private ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, in September 2025. Nearly a year later, Blanco has shared more details about the day. He explained how Gomez's childhood dream shaped their wedding plans.
Blanco discussed the wedding during the Sept. 8 episode of his Friends Keep Secrets podcast. He surprised guest Gwyneth Paltrow when he revealed that he and Gomez were married. The couple rented out a palm tree farm and turned it into their wedding venue, according to Blanco. He said they wanted to create something "unconventional" for the celebration.
Blanco explained that Gomez had dreamed about her wedding since she was a child. She also knew how she wanted her walk down the aisle to look. "She's like, 'I want to walk down the aisle, and I want the aisle to be, like, Persian rugs off centered. I don't want normal flowers. I don't want it to feel bougie." The couple worked hard on the celebration, Blanco said.
Blanco said the result felt special without becoming too formal. "So it was, like, incredible and you could tell we put so much effort into it, but also didn't feel, like, stuffy," he said. Paltrow responded to the story by saying, "I love that. That's so cool." The ceremony reflected Gomez's preference for an unusual and intimate celebration.
The wedding was officiated by Lil **** y, who also co-hosts Friends Keep Secrets. Blanco shared the wedding details while speaking with Paltrow. His comments highlighted how much thought Gomez put into making the day her own. The celebration gave her the unconventional wedding she had imagined since childhood.

Lauryn Hill defended her former partner Rohan Marley on Instagram after a social media influencer dubbed the businessman a "tyrant."
Last week, influencer Mayowa posted an Instagram reel breaking down the past relationship between the eight-time Grammy winner and Marley, with whom she shares five children. The exes dated from the mid-90s until roughly 2009. In Mayowa's reel, she referenced Marley marrying his second wife, Barbara Fialho. Marley, who's the son of late reggae icon Bob Marley, was previously married to Geraldine Khawly and divorced Fialho in 2020 after one year of marriage.
"I've always felt like Lauryn Hill's music felt so incredibly sad," Mayowa said, adding that it seemed like the vocalist was "trying to make up for something."
"Her music sometimes seemed self-flagellating, like she was trying to hurt herself to be deserving of love," she continued, adding that Marley "destroyed" Hill.

Hill and Marley dated for about a decade and have five children together. Despite never marrying, the two have remained co-parents to the children, each of whom had a moment during Hill's BET Living Legend Award performance at the 2026 BET Awards.
Despite being apart for more than 15 years, Lauryn Hill will still go to bat for Rohan Marley.
Last week, Nigerian influencer Mayowa shared a reel breaking down the relationship between Fugees singer and Marley, including their split and Marley's marriage to his second wife, Barbara Fialho. Mayowa referred to Marley as a "tyrant" and wondered whether he was the reason Hill's music sounded "so sad" to her, later uploading a video of her 2001 "MTV Unplugged" performance, focusing on a clip in which Hill is visibly crying while performing.
The video caught Hill's attention and she responded in the comments.
"I might agree with some of the self-deprecation part, there are reasons for that, but while Rohan and I were in relationship I was NOT being done dirty," Hill wrote.

Perez Hilton suffered multiple broken bones after falling on the night of his self-harm livestream earlier this month.
The celebrity blogger is still recovering from his wounds in the hospital after he cut himself with a knife during a 4 August livestream on TikTok.
On Monday, his brother-in-law Tom revealed that his physical injuries are more severe than initially thought during a new episode of The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker.
Tom, who is married to Hilton's sister, Barbara Lavandeira, said that Hilton had fallen several times during the night of his livestream, resulting in broken bones.
"There were some broken bones. There were some other things unrelated that they discovered stemming all this way back to his sepsis," he shared.
Hilton was hospitalised for severe sepsis in March 2026 after taking flu medication on an empty stomach for a week, which caused a stomach ulcer, a perforation and sepsis. He was admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas and stayed for 21 days, undergoing emergency surgery and treatment.

Brad Pitt, 62, has an eye-watering $130 million real estate portfolio spanning continents, including a Santa Barbara retreat and a cliff top property in Carmel Highlands. One of his most recent purchases is a $12 million mansion in Los Angeles with air-tight security features. The award-winning actor recently allowed a journalist from Esquire access into the heavily protected home, and then it was revealed how little time he really spends there…
The article explained that since Brad acquired the home in September of 2025, he has only managed to spend three odd weeks inside. Despite not frequenting the residence regularly, he seemed taken by the incredible features, particularly the view across the iconic city. He even spoke highly of it on a cloudy day. "June gloom. I love June gloom. It's just so much more contemplative and introspective," he said.

Brad purchased this house after his nearby $5.5 million home in Los Feliz was sadly ransacked by thieves, so this made security a keen focus for the star. The new property features a secure entryway, privacy with landscaping and a high-tech alarm system. The six-bed residence also features a scenic pool, a marble-clad bathroom and a recording studio due to the previous owner being The Killers' guitarist, Dave Keuning.

Dylan Sprouse has revealed that one of the rare celebrity encounters that left him genuinely starstruck also changed his relationship with cigarettes. The actor recently looked back on an unexpected interaction with David Lynch, explaining why the brief encounter stayed with him long after the two went their separate ways.
During an Aug. 4 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Sprouse recalled having dinner at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles with Barbara Palvin and friends when he heard Lynch speaking at a nearby table.
Sprouse, a longtime Lynch fan, said he immediately recognized the filmmaker's voice. Palvin encouraged him to introduce himself, but Sprouse resisted because he did not want to interrupt Lynch while he was eating.
Instead, he stepped outside for a cigarette. A short time later, Lynch entered the smoking area and asked Sprouse for a cigarette and a light. Sprouse handed him both.
The Chateau Marmont encounter soon took an unexpected turn when Laura Dern joined Lynch. Sprouse recalled watching Lynch pull a fresh pack of cigarettes and a lighter from his own pocket for Dern, leaving him to wonder whether the director had actually needed to borrow anything from him.

Valerie Bertinelli found a forgotten strip of film frames while decluttering her home, and the discovery sent her followers straight into preservation mode.
The 66-year-old actor shared a close-up of two color frames showing her younger self posing in black lingerie and strappy heels around a chair. Bertinelli referred to the find as "negatives" in her Instagram caption and said she had completely forgotten she had them.
"I had totally forgotten that I had them, which is why we probably haven't seen them in print anywhere," Bertinelli wrote.
She asked followers a simple question: "Toss or save?" The answer in the comments was clear, with many urging her to keep the images from her early Hollywood years.
Bertinelli estimated that the shoot took place in 1979, when she was 19 and already several years into the role that made her famous. She joined CBS' One Day at a Time at 15, playing Barbara Cooper alongside Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington Jr.
