FC Barcelona will be gunning for their sixth straight victory this season when they take on Levante in La Liga on Sunday.
The Blaugrana came into the matchday as La Liga leaders, after having won each of their four games in the competition so far, scoring 17 and conceding only two goals.
They built on their exceptional start with a 5-1 thrashing of Feyenoord in their UEFA Champions League opener on Wednesday night.
Given their splendid form so far, Barça go into the game as overwhelming favourites. Their opponents, Levante are in the bottom half of the table with five points from four games so far.
They have not lost any of their previous three matches, drawing against Osasuna and Malaga on either side of a 5-2 victory over Real Betis.

Liverpool have beaten Real Madrid to a transfer on deadline day in a sensational move.
It has been a slow summer for the Reds in the transfer market.
Ultimately, Richard Hughes secured only three senior signings this summer. Ronald Araujo arrived on loan from Barcelona, Bradley Barcola was signed for close to a club record fee of £123m from Paris Saint Germain and Victor Munoz was brought in from Osasuna.
In isolation the trio are all exciting arrivals who will bolster Liverpool.
It's important to mention Jeremy Jacquet will technically count as a new signing as well given he joined the club this summer after agreeing a move in January.

Liverpool are making big changes to their attack.
Bradley Barcola is now primed to become the summer's headline arrival. The 23-year-old Frenchman is coming in from Paris Saint-Germain for a sizeable transfer fee that could reach £120m.
The two-time Champions League winner is joining Victor Munoz in a new-look Reds' attack under Andoni Iraola. Spain's FIFA World Cup winner was recruited for around £34m after Richard Hughes triggered his Osasuna release clause.
But Hughes and head coach Andoni Iraola are not done there.
More signings are planned before the window closes on Tuesday - including Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace and even Yankuba Minteh or Ibrahim Mbaye.

Liverpool are not done remodelling the frontline for the 2026/27 season.
Victor Munoz has been brought in for £34m after Richard Hughes triggered the Spain FIFA World Cup winner's Osasuna release clause.
Plans are afoot meanwhile to sign at least two more wingers. One-v-one quality out wide was always the stated aim for the current transfer period - a need stepped up following Mohamed Salah's free transfer to Trabzonspor.
Bradley Barcola is the main focus - with Paris Saint-Germain holding out for a deal worth £145m before letting their France winger go.
PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye is another name mentioned with the two-time European champions seeking around £60m for the 18-year-old.

Liverpool fans had a first glimpse of Victor Munoz in matchday action during the Reds' 3-2 defeat to Monaco on Sunday afternoon.
Just 21 days after lifting the World Cup with Spain, the summer signing from Osasuna came on for the final half-hour of the match at Anfield today, having cut short his holiday to ensure that he'd be ready to feature against the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 23-year-old was given a rousing reception when he entered the fray in the 59th minute, with the natives welcoming him warmly as they watched him in action for his new club for the first time.
Munoz didn't manage to get on the scoresheet for Liverpool this afternoon, but his performance at Anfield met with positive reviews from a few of the media in attendance.
Liverpool Echo writer Ian Doyle gave the Spaniard a 6/10 in his post-match player ratings, noting how 'one piece of trickery soon got supporters onside'.

One of the biggest talents in world football was ready to join Liverpool this summer. However, the deal collapsed.
Liverpool went into this summer transfer window with a plan. They wanted a new winger and were ready to spend big on him.
After all, the squad lacked production from wide areas last season and then lost Mohamed Salah on a free transfer. Victor Munoz has joined from Osasuna but he's not going to make up the difference on his own - especially as he doesn't actually play on Salah's side.
The big name Liverpool wanted was Yan Diomande, as reported at the time by absolutely everyone. The Reds, at one stage, looked like favourites to sign him after a brilliant debut campaign with RB Leipzig.
And then things turned. Paris Saint-Germain got involved and turned Diomande's head, with him looking destined to move there. Only, Real Madrid got involved and turned Diomande's head, and he did move there.

The 23-year-old cut short his time off to link up with the squad at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday, and he's hoping to get his maiden runout with his new club this coming weekend.
Liverpool play host to Monaco on Sunday afternoon in what'll be Andoni Iraola's first Anfield matchday as the Reds' head coach, and Munoz is raring to go for that fixture if the boss deems him fit enough to feature.

Norwich City are weighing up their options in the transfer market to further bolster Philippe Clement's squad in attack.
City have completed the signing of full-back Darlin Yongwa on a four-year deal, providing some much needed defensive depth to Clement's squad.
But City could be forced into the market to strengthen in the wide attacking areas following what is believed to be a serious injury for Ali Ahmed.
Ahmed was forced off with a knee injury in the friendly against Osasuna.
It has not been confirmed how long he will be out for yet, but he looks set to miss a significant chunk of the season.

The possibility of Bradley Barcola becoming a Liverpool player is a genuine one, with the Reds set to make a bid for the PSG winger.
Liverpool are long-standing admirers of the France international and engaged in discussions last summer about his availability but eventually decided they didn't want to block the pathway of Rio Ngumoha.
With Mohamed Salah gone, the situation has changed. At half-time against Wrexham in New York, Ngumoha came on and played down the right - another indication that he will be used on both flanks this season. The 17-year-old was fortunate with the deflection for his goal but his directness makes life tough for defenders.
"All the coaching staff are just telling me to play my normal game really, whether that's going inside or outside. I've been working on it in training anyway, playing on the right and the left - just being unpredictable really," said Ngumoha.
He is a special talent while Victor Munoz, who Liverpool signed from Osasuna for £34m, is another one with plenty of potential. However, without Salah, Liverpool need high quality from the outset and Barcola could immediately provide that.

Gary O'Neil's Ipswich Town lost their second pre-season friendly 2-1 against La Liga side Osasuna.
The Spanish side took the lead in the opening five minutes, through a rebounded effort from Miguel Auria.
Chuba Akpom, who joined Ipswich on a permanent deal from Ajax in May 2026, scored a second-half equaliser eight minutes after being substituted on.
However, a fantastic strike from Osasuna's Raul Moro ricocheted off the underside of the crossbar to gift the La Liga outfit a pre-season victory at the JobServe Community Stadium.
O'Neil has now failed to win both his opening two warm-up games after the Tractor Boys were held to a goalless draw against Cartagena, who play in the second-tier in Spain.

Liverpool have managed to get two big deals over the line so far this summer.
Jeremy Jacquet’s signature was put in place back in winter but the move which takes him from Rennes to Anfield for £60m has now been completed.
Richard Hughes struck an opportunistic deal for Victor Munoz - who arrives on a £34m deal from Osasuna. Another player - Ifeanyi Ndukwe - has also been registered with the centre-back moving from Austria Vienna.
But Andoni Iraola’s side remain short on players in key positions. Right-back is shaping up to be an issue once again.
Conor Bradley is not expected to be fit anytime soon following a leg injury suffered in January and last season midfielders were asked to fill in.

Liverpool are in the market to sign an attacker this summer, with the Reds having brought in winger Victor Muñoz from Osasuna already but clearly in need of more given last season's squad shortcomings and the departure of legend Mohamed Salah at the end of the 2025-26 season.
With that in mind, today 24-year-old Monaco right winger and attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche found himself added to the list of potential targets, with Sky's Lyall Thomas first claiming that Liverpool had made an approach for the French international and World Cup bench option.
However, while that news was quickly confirmed by club-connected reporters, it appears likely that this transfer saga might not get past the enquiry stage. At least according to The Echo's Ian Doyle, Liverpool kicked the tires back before the World Cup kicked off—and haven't yet returned.
Whether that means the Reds were quoted a price they didn't consider reasonable or if Akliouche is simply one of many potential targets and not actually near the top of the list, then, today's news feels like old news coming to light more than a revelation of a deal currently in the works.
Liverpool's top wing target to replace Salah had been Yan Diomande before the RB Leipzig winger signalled that his preferred destination was Paris Saint-Germain, and since then most of the focus has been on PSG's Bradley Barcola but with little real new news on that front in some time.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola says the club "definitely need to sign a winger" this summer.
The Reds signed winger Victor Munoz earlier on in the transfer window from Osasuna, but Iraola says he is keen to add another player in that position.
"I think it is difficult to say a number when the market is open and you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad," Iraola said.
"There are obvious situations that we know that we need to sign players. A winger – for example. We definitely need to sign a winger.
"But there are other situations that, we will have to ***** yse what the market gives you. What's the cost? And how we also see the players we have. I said, the other day, you know, some tricky positions where you have like injured player that we trust that is still not the ideal situation. So it will depend a little bit on a lot of things."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has outlined the club’s transfer plans for this window and pinpointed one position on the pitch that they “definitely need” to address with incoming players.
Liverpool have already signed defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, although that deal was agreed back in January, and forward Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer.
However, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all left the club, while the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are sidelined through injury. Transfer guru Michael Edwards has also left Anfield this summer, throwing a lot of their plans up in the air.
Iraola was reticent to commit to an exact number of signings when he spoke to reporters in Chicago as part of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States but acknowledged that a Salah replacement on the wing was a non-negotiable addition.
“I think it is difficult to say a number,” said Iraola. “When the market is open, you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad.

It's been quite a memorable few weeks in the life of Liverpool winger Victor Munoz, and the high point might only be a handful of days away.
Having been called up to the Spain squad for the World Cup despite only making his debut in March, the 23-year-old also joined the Reds from Osasuna, and in four days' time he could be a world champion.

La Roja are one win away from being simultaneous European and world champions after they defeated France 2-0 on Tuesday night, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro securing their place in Sunday's final.
If Spain are victorious against Argentina or England next weekend and Munoz gets on the pitch, he'll become just the third man to play in a World Cup final for the eventual champions, matching the feat of Roger Hunt (England in 1966) and Fernando Torres (Spain in 2010).

Andoni Iraola is hopeful that Liverpool can add new faces to the squad in the coming weeks.
Iraola spoke to the media for the first time since officially beginning his reign as Liverpool head coach, having arrived from Bournemouth earlier in the summer.
Liverpool have signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna for a £34m fee this summer, while Jeremy Jacquet's pre-arranged transfer to Anfield from Rennes has also been concluded.
It has been a summer of change at Liverpool, with a new head coach and several senior names departing the club. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all left Liverpool, a trio who played more than 1000 games for the Reds combined.
Iraola has said that Liverpool need to remain active in terms of recruitment to replace those names, but confirmed the team are working hard behind the scenes to get deals done.

When Brazil and Egypt were knocked out of the World Cup, Liverpool lost their most recognizable remaining representatives in current star Alisson Becker and recently departed Mohamed Salah. However, the Reds do still have one player at the tournament in Spain’s Victor Muñoz.
Liverpool fans haven’t yet seen him play for the club given he only signed at the start of the World Cup, and as he was just working back from an injury at the time he hasn’t actually played for Spain yet at the Word Cup, but for those keeping track at home he’s Liverpool’s last player at the tournament.
He was also asked this week about his decision to leave Osasuna and head to the Premier League. It’s a question he’s been asked before, crediting new head coach Andoni Iraola as a big part of his choice, and he reiterated that when asked about where he’ll be playing net season.
“I think the Premier League is the right place for me with my abilities and style of play,” Munoz said. “I think this next step was the right one. [Iraloa] gave me a glimpse into how his teams play, how it can suit me, how he likes his wingers to stay wide, be able to get to the byline, be hard-working.
“I think I made the right choice with that next step because those are characteristics that I strongly identify with. His style of play, his pressing, how he wants to manage teams—I think I’m a player, because of my characteristics, who could fit in well so that’s also why I took that step.”

Mohamed Salah is no longer a Liverpool player.
The Reds’ icon called time on his Anfield career - with a deal reached to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.
Salah’s exit opens up a slot in Liverpool’s attack - with the outgoing Premier League champions keen to add one-v-one quality in wide areas.
Victor Munoz has been signed from Osasuna but the Spain international is seen more as a left-sided option. That means new head coach Andoni Iraola and sporting director Richard Hughes still require a starting candidate on the right side of the attack.
A deal for Yan Diomande is now out of reach with the Ivorian preferring to join Paris Saint-Germain. If the RB Leipzig 19-year-old ends up at PSG this summer it could spell the end for another reported Liverpool target in Bradley Barcola.

Real Madrid academy product Mario Gila is set to sign for AC Milan as Lazio and the rossoneri have already finalized an agreement for the player’s transfer. Milan will pay the Rome-based side €30 million, half of which will go directly to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid has brought in a substantial amount of money this summer transfer window through the sales of several academy products. The Spanish club have already earned €60 million from Nico Paz’s transfer to Como, €20 million for Víctor Muñoz, who moved from Osasuna to Liverpool, €12.5 million from Álvaro Rodríguez’s transfer from Elche to Bournemouth and €3.5 million for Mario Martín’s move to Getafe.
Real Madrid originally transferred Mario Gila to Lazio in 2022, with the Italian club paying €6 million for 50% of his rights. Los Blancos kept the remaining 50%.

Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mikel Merino sends Spain to the next round with a 91st-minute striker against Portugal. The only goal of the cagey affair came when Ferran Torres played a measured through pass to fellow substitute Merino.
The ******* nal all-rounder had a difficult season due to a long-term injury, but he added yet another clutch moment to his collection, which includes a goal that knocked Germany out from their home European Championship a couple of summers ago.
Merino signed for Dortmund from Osasuna a decade ago, but he has only played nine scoreless games before joining Newcastle United on an initial loan deal, which later turned to permanent with the German side eventually making a profit from their investment a couple of years ago.
The first-half saw the better chances as Diogo Costa made a great double save from Lamine Yamal and Alex Baena moments after Mikel Oyarzabal's poor finishing. Nuno Mendes hit the crossbar with a deflected effort at the other end.
Chances were few and far between after the break until the 30-year-old stunned Portugal with a clinical finish. Former Bayer Leverkusen fullback Alejandro Grimaldo is still waiting for his World Cup debut. Atlétic Madrid’ new signing has featured twice when Spain won the Euros in 2024.

Heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one of the names to keep an eye on was that of Yan Diomande, who was set to be a key part of the Ivory Coast's offensive engine. While Diomande only has a single goal involvement to his name, with his **** ist against Curacao during the group stage, given his national team's slated appearance in the knockout stages, that could change.
But a World Cup debut wasn't the only talking point surrounding Diomande entering the Summer, as it was being constantly reported that he was the subject of interest from multiple teams around Europe, chief among them, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The Merseyside club was keen on bringing the Ivorian forward to Anfield as a replacement for the now-departed Mo Salah, who left the Reds at the expiration of his contract.
There was a key update in the race for Diomande's signature when Liverpool decided to splash some cash on Osasuna's Victor Munoz, who they brought in for €40m, which didn't deter them from putting in a further €100 million bid for the Ivorian, but it was subsequently rejected by RB Leipzig.
While there has been all of this interest from the Premier League giants, it appears that the back-to-back European champions may have more pull in the race for Diomande.

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to agree a €50m deal and it could well be with Liverpool. It's been a long time coming.
Liverpool and Real Madrid just keep getting involved with one another. If it's not Real Madrid signing a player from Liverpool, it's Real Madrid signing a transfer target of Liverpool's.
And even with the Reds' most recent signing, Victor Munoz, they've had to navigate a buyback clause in his Osasuna contract for Real Madrid. They can't escape them.
But it appears that we might actually see movement from Real Madrid to Liverpool. And that's incredibly rare.
Sport reports that Los Blancos are ready to sell Eduardo Camavinga as they attempt to free up ****** e and money for new midfielders. José Mourinho has signed off on the exit and now Camavinga is free to move elsewhere for around €50m.

According to reports from Italy, Liverpool are tracking Benfica and Norway winger Andreas Schjelderup, who could be available for a modest fee.
The 22-year-old is currently representing his country at the World Cup, coming off the bench in the wins over Iraq and Senegal as his nation sealed their progress to the knockout rounds with a game to spare.

The Reds have already signed one winger in Victor Munoz from Osasuna and have reportedly agreed personal terms with another in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but their pursuit of wide attackers mightn’t necessarily stop there, if a fresh report is to be believed.
Tuttomercatoweb reported that Liverpool are now ‘following’ Schjelderup, who’s valued by Benfica in the region of €30m (£25.8m), twice what they paid to sign him from Nordsjaelland in January 2023.

Liverpool have signed Victor Munoz.
The Spaniard, 22, becomes Andoni Iraola’s first signing as the Reds’ head coach. Liverpool triggered the €40m release clause in the winger’s Osasuna contract - paving the way for a six-year deal at Anfield.
Developments came quickly this week with sporting director Richard Hughes stealing in at the 11th hour to wrap up the transfer.
The deal has left Newcastle stunned once again - following on from Liverpool pipping the Geordies to the signing of Hugo Ekitike last summer.
Eddie Howe’s side thought they had a deal done for Munoz - their first choice to replace Anthony Gordon on the left side of their attack.

Liverpool’s summer is beginning to look less like a transfer window and more like a statement of intent. According to Mike Verweij of the Telegraaf, the Reds have made contact over Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven, with Barcelona also said to be “knocking on the door”.
For Andoni Iraola, this would be a significant move. Liverpool have already added Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but the possible pursuit of Van de Ven points to a wider rebuild.
The Dutch defender has been described as “world-class”, and it is easy to see why. His recovery pace, composure and ability to defend large **** es would appear tailor-made for a Liverpool side expected to press high and play with aggression.
Ibrahima Konate’s move to Real Madrid has changed the picture. Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni may be talented, but neither has played a Premier League minute. That makes Van de Ven a different type of target, proven, powerful and already adjusted to English football.

Liverpool have signed Spain winger Victor Munoz - and told RB Leipzig that they will pay a package worth about 100m euros (£86m) for Yan Diomande.
The Reds confirmed the signing of Munoz from Osasuna after triggering his 40m euro (£34.5m) release clause.
Munoz is part of Spain's World Cup squad, with Liverpool sending staff to the United States to conduct his medical on Wednesday.
Diomande is also at the World Cup, with Ivory Coast, and although Paris St-Germain are in the race to sign him too, they are yet to make an offer and Liverpool are in pole position for the 19-year-old winger.
However, German side Leipzig want more than the package Liverpool are willing to offer, and there is also no desire to see the teenager leave in the transfer window.
