Britain's Arthur Fery has reached his first ATP Tour final after opponent James Duckworth retired because of injury at the Winston-Salem Open.
The 24-year-old was leading 6-4 2-1 in the semi-final when his Australian opponent, who called for a medical timeout after the first set, forfeited the match.
Fery is the first Briton to reach the final of the ATP 250 event and his progress continues after his surprise run to the Wimbledon semi-finals in July.
He has also reached a career high of 33 in the world and overtaken Cameron Norrie to become British number one.
"I am really happy to be in the final," said Fery.

Cameron Norrie extended the upset chaos at the ATP Montreal Masters on Thursday, saving a match point in defeating Alex de Minaur 5-7, 7-6 (7/5), 6-1.
The battling British winner trailed a set and a double break against the Australian third seed, who folded in the final set of an epic lasting for almost three hours.
De Minaur, who had been the highest remaining seed in a depleted draw, could have closed it out in straight sets with a match point chance in the eighth game of the second set.
The tournament had already seen an early exit from top seed Alexander Zverev, an injury pullout from Canadian second seed Felix Auger-Aliassime and a loss by fourth seed Daniil Medvedev.
The US Open tuneup hardcourt event had already been hit by the absences of world number one Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam singles champion Novak Djokovic.

Cameron Norrie progressed to the Canadian Open last 32 with a straight-set win over Ignacio Buse.
Ranked four places below the Peruvian number 33, Norrie beat Buse 6-3 6-3 in a match which lasted one hour and 29 minutes.
The British number two ended a six-match losing streak with a run to the Los Cabos Open semi-finals last week and beat Camilo Ugo Carabelli in his opening match in Montreal.
In the last 32 he will face Australian world number seven Alex de Minaur, who married British number two Katie Boulter in July and is preparing to play doubles with her at the US Open.
At the first opportunity, Norrie broke Buse and served out to claim the first set.

Days like these for British players at Wimbledon need to be cherished.
Andy Murray ending the nation's 77-year wait for a men's singles champion in 2013 was the height of euphoria, and his commanding win three years later was not far behind.
Home hopes Johanna Konta and Cameron Norrie also sparked fervent support by unexpectedly reaching the semi-finals in the past nine years.
There was some logic to the memorable British runs that have illuminated the All England Club in recent years.
But wildcard Arthur Fery storming into the semi-finals?

Wimbledon is underway and the upsets have already begun, with men's fourth seed and ****** le contender Ben Shelton the first top name to fall.
The American lost in a match tiebreak after a thrilling five-setter against Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen on Tuesday, in the biggest upset of the tournament so far.
Reigning champion and third seed Iga Swiatek survived an almighty scare in her first-round match against Taylor Townsend and is in line to potentially face dangerous wildcard and seven-time champion Serena Williams as early as the third round.
On the men's side, reigning champion and top seed Jannik Sinner survived a scare of his own as he needed five sets to see off Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic, while seventh seed Novak Djokovic remains a possible semi-final opponent for the Italian after beating China's Yibing Wu in four.
Of the British players Cameron Norrie - who lost in the first round - was the only one to be seeded, after Emma Raducanu withdrew from Wimbledon on the eve of the tournament, confirming the injury "niggle" she had been managing since Queen's had "developed into a stress fracture" .

Katie Swan became the first British singles player to reach the second round at this year's Wimbledon, but Katie Boulter fell to a disappointing defeat by a qualifier on day two.
Ten Britons lost on the opening day of their home major - the most at SW19 since daily records began in 2000.
But Swan, who considered retiring from tennis in 2024 because of a persistent back injury, avoided the same fate in her first Grand Slam appearance for three years with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.
The 27-year-old threw herself to the ground as she celebrated the win - her first in the main draw of a major since she beat the same opponent at Wimbledon in 2018.
In an abysmal opening day for home hopes, 10 British players - including Cameron Norrie, the highest ranked Briton - quickly toppled out of the tournament.

Cameron Norrie suffered a rare Wimbledon first-round upset as he lost a gruelling five-setter to qualifier Michael Zheng in a disappointing opening day for British players.
Norrie was the only British seeded player left in either singles draw following Emma Raducanu's withdrawal on the eve of the Championships.
But the world number 29, so often the last Briton standing at the Grand Slams, was twice reeled back in by American Zheng after being a set up, eventually losing 6-7 (7-9) 6-2 6-7 (2-7) 6-3 7-6 (10-4) after four hours on court.
It is the first time Norrie - a semi-finalist in 2022 and quarter-finalist last year - has lost in the first round at Wimbledon since 2018.
The 30-year-old was among six Britons to lose on the opening day of the Championships, while there was further disappointment when Jack Draper announced his withdrawal 24 hours before his opening match because of injury.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Army's commander of its forces in Europe and Africa — who was famously the last American soldier to leave Afghanistan in 2021 — is unexpectedly stepping down from his post after just 18 months in the job, the Army confirmed late Tuesday.
Gen. Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa and commander of NATO's Allied Land Command, will relinquish his command on July 2, according to an Army statement provided to The ******* ociated Press. He is the latest in a line of nearly two dozen top military leaders to either retire or depart their jobs early under the leadership of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has undertaken an effort to thin the ranks of the military's top brass with the mantra "less generals, more GIs."
Donahue's deputy, Maj. Gen. Christopher Norrie, will perform his duties in the meantime, the statement added.
A West Point graduate and a career special operations commander, Donahue commanded Delta Force units in Iraq and Afghanistan before leading the 82nd Airborne division from July 2020 to March 2022.
It was during that period that he oversaw the security at Hamid Karzai International Airport during the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from the country in 2021. On Aug. 30, 2021, Donahue became the last U.S. soldier to depart the country after nearly 20 years of war sparked by the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The moment was documented in an iconic photo taken through night vision goggles that showed the general boarding the last C-17 cargo plane to depart the country.

Cameron Norrie was beaten by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at Queen's in the Briton's first singles match since suffering a rib injury in May.
Norrie has often been the last Briton standing at Grand Slams but had to retire injured from his first-round French Open match with the problem last month.
He returned to the court in the men's doubles at Queen's on Monday, where he and Australian partner Alex de Minaur lost 6-4 7-5 to India's Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus of New Zealand.
On Tuesday, the British number one started strongly against world number 22 Davidovich Fokina but ultimately faded to a 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 loss.
Norrie went an early break up against the Spaniard but Davidovich Fokina responded straight away, before holding firm in the tie-break.
