The UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House's South Lawn, a celebration of the U.S.'s 250th birthday and Donald Trump's 80th on June 14, was well-received by fans, despite some of the lewd comments made by fighter Josh Hokit about former First Lady Michelle Obama, which UFC President Dana White himself even called "disgusting."
Even with Hokit's transgression, the atmosphere was undeniable, with podcaster Joe Rogan, who commentated the event, saying, "That was the wildest experience that I've ever had in my 20-whatever years of calling combat sports. There's nothing even close."
White said that Paramount CEO David Ellison was thirlled with the event's impact on the Paramount+ streaming service.
"In every way you can measure success, … it was monstrous tonight. You don't get calls from billionaires flipping out too often," he said of speaking with Ellison.
Still, for all its successes, White insisted in the event's aftermath that the event was a one-time affair.

UFC and parent company TKO Group Holdings said late Monday that they generated a series of financial gains during the second quarter, despite roughly $30 million in fiscal losses from June's UFC Freedom 250 in Washington, D.C.
In a TKO quarterly earnings report, UFC reported a 29% ****** p in total revenue to $535.7 million and a 15% ****** p in adjusted earnings to $35.6 million. The unprecedented setting on the White House South Lawn did not allow UFC to charge fans for tickets, but still fueled a series of other historic results, including in merchandise sales and sponsorships, and an estimated $1 billion in earned media value.
"The card, the production, and the storytelling were a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle on the biggest stage possible," TKO president and COO Mark Shapiro said in a call with ****** ysts.
The latest results arrived seven weeks after UFC Freedom 250 main event completed a largely successful, but still often-chaotic and politically charged weekend in the nation's capital. Nearly 200,000 people attended at the Ellipse, adjacent to the South Lawn where the fights were held. Merchandise sales, meanwhile, doubled the prior UFC record, and White said Paramount CEO David Ellison was pleased with the event's impact on the Paramount+ streaming service.
Globally, UFC reached an audience of 34 million people with the event, with about half of that viewership deriving from the U.S. While a historically strong figure for the promotion, it was still well short of UFC president Dana White's predictions of drawing "Super Bowl–type numbers."

A bowler from tiny Norfolk Island in the South Pacific has won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games despite a complete lack of indoor facilities in her homeland.
Shae Wilson's chances of winning only the island's third medal ever at the Games appeared to have evaporated after organisers announced that the lawn bowls event would be moved inside for the first time.
Bowlers on the island – best known as the place where descendants of the Bounty mutineers resettled in 1856 – must swerve shots around the potholes on two grass greens in its de facto capital, Burnt Pine.

Folks around the continental United States would be hard-pressed to find a 31-year-old NFL free agent still giving back to his hometown high school some 13 years after graduation.
But there sat former Woodlawn defensive back Donovan Wilson Friday afternoon in the Knights' auditorium on Wyngate Boulevard autographing photos and talking with fans, like former Woodlawn coach Jerwin Wilson, while supporters passed out 500 backpacks and others gave free haircuts to youngsters from the surrounding neighborhood.
"I'm just trying to give light to the youth and show some love to where I come from and what I wanted when I was younger," said Wilson, who spent seven seasons with the Cowboys before a separation following last season. "I appreciate being in this position and to be able to do what I'm doing."
Wilson's mother, Michelle Wilson-Johnson, a secretary at Shreveport's Caddo Magnet High School, was responsible for organizing Friday's give-back event. She secured Bos-Man's Barber College to dole out fresh fades, tapers, shape-ups and kid-friendly hair cuts as part of the event. Five barber trainees were on hand and were kept busy with the trimming.
"She's one of the motivations to do what I'm doing, and I appreciate her for that," Wilson said.

A Connecticut police officer repeatedly ordered a man to drop a baseball bat before opening fire as the suspect continued bludgeoning a motionless man in the head, newly released body camera footage shows.
The footage, released this week by the Connecticut Office of Inspector General, captures the July 19 encounter in Meriden that left two men dead, including 38-year-old Robert Lee Jenkins III, who investigators said was shot by a responding officer while carrying out the attack.
According to the inspector general's preliminary report, Meriden Officer Anthony Offiaeli arrived at a home on Sagamore Road shortly after 10 a.m. and found Jenkins "bludgeoning" a man lying motionless on the front lawn with a baseball bat.

Jennifer Garner got refreshingly candid about her decades in the public eye, reflecting on her relationship with the paparazzi at the height of her marriage with ex Ben Affleck and the "Stockholm syndrome thing" she has with one longstanding photographer.

The most-watched man in America right now is a 39-year-old from Rosario, Argentina, who barely raises his voice. The World Cup is here, on our own soil for the first time — the United States, Canada and Mexico — and Lionel Messi is playing as the defending champion in his sixth tournament. He does not trash talk. He does not pound his chest. He leads from behind, they say, which is a polite way of saying he lets the ball and the trophies do the talking.
Messi has won the thing men spend their whole lives arguing about, eight Ballon d'Ors, a World Cup, more or less every honor the game can hand a person, and he has done it while looking, most of the time, like a shy man who would rather be home. He is the best argument I know against everything the U.S. is currently trying to sell boys about what a man is.
Because at the same moment, on the same screens, a truck company is selling the opposite. Ram Trucks released an ad this year called "In Loud We Trust." The voice growling over it belongs to Dana White, the president and CEO of the UFC, who does donuts in a blacked-out performance truck while the slogan lands. In loud we trust: A play, in case you missed it, on the words printed on our money. In God we trust, swapped out for an engine. The sacred traded for the subwoofer. The commercial arrived tied to a UFC fight card staged on the White House lawn, and plenty of people loved it. But plenty of people, including a lot of religious folks who did not appreciate their motto turned into a truck commercial, did not.
Here is what the ad is actually selling, underneath the flags and the engines and the whole ****** nal of American noise: masculinity as a thing you can purchase and perform. Not do. Perform. It is the same product professional wrestling has sold for decades, but at least the WWE has the honesty to admit the whole thing is staged. The truck ad wants you to believe the roar is real. That if you are loud enough, and your engine is big enough, and your grievance is hot enough, that is the same thing as being a man. It is not. It never has been.
The difference is backbone. Gusto is fine, even wonderful. Messi has gusto, and Paul Newman drove race cars; ****** ody is asking men to be quiet little mice. The problem is not volume. The problem is volume with nothing underneath it, noise offered as a substitute for the thing itself. Real masculinity is proven in the work, in the results, in the people you protect, and it does not need a camera to exist.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner didn't leave any doubt.
The defending Wimbledon champion dominated 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, to reach his second straight Wimbledon final. Sinner improved to 7-5 against Djokovic, who beat him in the Australian Open semis in January.
The Italian will face No. 2 Alexander Zverev, the Roland Garros champion, in Sunday's final (11 a.m. ET, ESPN). The winner takes home about $4.8 million.
Sinner leads their head-to-head 10-4.

The Kansas City Royals have usually been bad for the past, oh, three, four decades for a litany of reasons, but one consistent contributing reason has been that they just don't know when to say goodbye to a player in service of the greater good. David DeJesus. Joakim Soria. Danny Duffy. Kelvin Herrera. Whit Merrifield. Scott Barlow. All those players were true premium trade pieces at one point, but the Royals didn't pull the trigger on leveraging any of them until after their value tanked. Add Kris Bubic and Cole Ragans to the list, while we're at it.
Why would teams want to trade their good players? It's pretty simple: good players have a lot of present value, and good prospects have a lot of future value. Depending on how talented your team is, you might want to exchange some of that future value for present value or vice versa. Trading big league players for prospects is a way for bad teams to make use of their talent in a way that works better for their timeline.
But just because it's simple doesn't mean it's easy. Have you ever had to go to your boss and explain that you and your team screwed up so badly that you're recommending your company lose money now with the hope that they make more in the future? That's what it's like for general managers to sell these decisions to ownership. Still, that's part of the job, and if you have players that could be interesting trade **** ets, it makes it easier.
Fortunately for the Royals, they have a few players who are could be trade **** ets. Chief among them are starting pitchers Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo. Wacha has arguably been the singular most reliable starting pitcher in the American League for the last three seasons, while Lugo has pitched decently and is two years removed from being the Cy Young runner up. Kansas City is also a very bad baseball team who sealed its fate months ago; it simply doesn't matter if they lose 90 or 120 games this year because they're not making the playoffs and they can't guarantee any spot in the draft thanks to the lottery system.
Are the Royals thinking about trading either? The answer is, predictably, no; get off their lawn.

Arthur Fery's dream run at Wimbledon came to an end in the semifinals, but the British wildcard scored a huge payday during the fortnight.
Fery, 23, entered Wimbledon with career earnings of $868,053 and will take home an additional $1.2 million after falling in the semis to No. 2 Alexander Zverev, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4.
Had Fery scored the massive upset, he would have earned $2.415 million.
The payday doesn't include the sponsorships he will likely pick up from becoming the first British wildcard in 25 years to reach the semifinals.

There's no stopping the Clatsop County Special Olympic athletes. Brittney Clarke and Jacob McCarr competed in three different events at the 2026 USA Games in Minneapolis. Clarke won gold in the 400-meter walk and also medaled in the 4 x 100-meter relay and mini javelin. McCarr placed fifth in the shot put, was a member of the second-place co-ed 4 x 100 relay team and competed in the 100-yard dash. After Clarke and McCarr brought home medals, Clarke and the rest of the athletes in Clatsop County Special Olympics are set to go on the road and compete this weekend.
The 2026 Oregon Summer Games are slated for July 10 through the 12, and are slated to take place at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Twenty Clatsop County Special Olympics athletes are set to compete in two sports: track and field and bocce ball.
Clarke will lead a list of 12 total track and field athletes. She will be joined by Alex Cary, Joey Bailey, Nicholas Bailey, Blake Chick, Mathias Costello, Marie Kajula, Jack Kain, Jonathan Lempea, Beau Routh, Cheyenne Valunzuela, Megan Wilson and coaches Bill and Karen Lempea. There will also be seven community members going as volunteers, including: Phil and Julie Chick, Michael and Danielle Cary, Clatsop County Special Olympics Program Director David McAloney, Susan Hiebert and Tracie Hunter.
Bocce is one of the newer sports added to the Special Olympics calendar this year and Clatsop County has a total of eight athletes participating this weekend: Brandi Higgins, Angelica Lizarraga, Ben Johnson, David Killion, Jesse Banks, Jerry Allen, Jackie Bleech and Nikki Fletcher. Coaches Patty Kain and Brenda Higgins will also travel with the athletes.
The Italian based game has slowly been gaining popularity in America after getting its start in Italy and other European countries. The lawn game is similar to bowling where teams roll large ******* to try and get them as close as possible to a smaller target called a pallino. It can be played on either grass, sand or a dedicated hardcourt. Italian General Giuseppe Garibaldi popularized the game in Italy during the late 19th century and it has since become an Olympic sport.

Zara Tindall and her husband Mike have made a surprise appearance as they returned to Wimbledon for day 10 of the tournament.
King Charles's niece, 45, looked glamorous in a blue and white striped shirt and sunglasses with her blonde bob lightly curled as she chatted to former F1 boss Christian Horner and his wife, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
Former rugby player Mike, 47, matched his wife in a cream blazer and blue shirt as they watched the action on Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The couple, who have been married since 2011, did not join their fellow royals, Queen Camilla and newlyweds Harriet and Peter Phillips, in the Royal Box.

Conor McGregor’s marquee return to the UFC is the latest UFC event to stay behind the Paramount+ paywall.
In August 2025, UFC reached an exclusive seven-year, $7.7 billion rights deal with Paramount in the United States. The agreement ended UFC’s pay-per-view model, moving all events to the Paramount+ streaming service, with select simulcasts on CBS.
CBS simulcast the final hour of the prelims and the first hour of the main card for UFC 326 in March and UFC 327 in April. Since then, however, Paramount has kept its biggest cards exclusive to Paramount+, which includes UFC Freedom 250, held in June on the White House lawn.
UFC 329, which features the return of Conor McGregor, will once again feature all live action exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service. CBS will air a primetime special on Friday, however, featuring coverage of McGregor and Max Holloway’s weigh-in. Front Office Sports was first to report the Paramount+ exclusivity.
Viewership for UFC Freedom 250 may be a good place to start to understand why CBS, which is airing NCIS: Sydney and 48 Hours instead, will not simulcast any live action. Freedom 250 averaged 7 million viewers on Paramount+. That is on par with the NBA’s biggest regular-season windows. The most-watched NBA game on Christmas Day in 2025, featuring the San Antonio Spurs against the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaged 6.7 million viewers on ABC and ESPN.

Naomi Osaka scored her biggest win since her return from maternity leave by knocking off world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Sunday.
No. 14 Osaka, the four-time major champion on hardcourts, overpowered Sabalenka, 6-2, 7-6(2), winning the match with a huge forehand service return o reach her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.
Sabalenka hadn't lost in straight sets in a major since the 2020 U.S. Open. Sabalenka had beaten Osaka in their last three matches, including in straight sets in the fourth round at Roland Garros.
"Going into this match I lost to her like three times in a row, so that really sucked," Osaka said.

The highest-profile marking of America's 250th anniversary thus far came last month, when the White House hosted an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight card on the South Lawn. It is no big surprise that three-quarters of Democrats found the spectacle inappropriate, versus less than a quarter of Republicans.
Now some states are displaying their partisan colors over the Trump administration's Great American State Fair. At least 10 states led by Democratic governors have confirmed they won't officially participate in the event, which began on Thursday on the National Mall. An Oregon spokesman said the event was "shaping up to be a more partisan affair than originally presented."
But partisanship isn't the only force dividing the country over how we should be celebrating America's 250th. It turns out there is a gender divide as well.
Compared to men, women are less engaged with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. They also hold significantly different views on what events surrounding the historic occasion should emphasize: less founding fathers, more bringing people together.
Data from a national poll conducted by my university, Bowling Green State University, in conjunction with YouGov, makes the gender gap plain. We surveyed a sample of 1,200 U.S. registered voters in February. The poll has a 3.2 percent margin of error.

The Blue Wahoos schedule has given the organization a long gap between home games, straight through the historic Fourth of July weekend that commemorates the nation’s 250th birthday.
It’s the first time in the team’s 14-year history there won’t be a home game around the Fourth of July. The Blue Wahoos are in midst of a 16-day gap between homestands before they will play at Blue Wahoos Stadium again on July 7.
That presented a dilemma, which led into arranging back-to-back nights on July 3 and July 4 where the Blue Wahoos will host community events. Both will feature inflatable water slides, bounce houses, lawn games, plus other on-field activities, along with music, a baseball-themed movie shown on July 3, all culminating with fireworks displays to watch both nights at the ballpark.
“But with this year being so special, the 250th birthday, it was kinda tough for us, because had to figure out what we were going to do,” Blue Wahoos team president Jonathan Griffith said.
Shannon Hannah, the Blue Wahoos long-time events manager, set up two days of on-field activities, entitled “Red, White and Wahoos.” The events feature a baseball themed movie on July 3 on the stadium’s videoboard, a tie-in on July 4 to the Pensacola Symphony’s annual “Sparks and Stars” concert at the Hunter Amphitheater outside the stadium, plus the fireworks shows.
