Earlier today, the Colorado Rockies recalled outfielder Zac Veen (No. 9 PuRP) from Triple-A Albuquerque while infielder Edouard Julien was designated for ******* ignment.
It's been a big week for the Rockies top prospect, who learned yesterday that he had won his second consecutive Pacific Coast League "Player of the Week" Award.
Even briefly spoke with media about being back with the big-league club.
"I feel really blessed," Veen said. "I feel really grateful for the opportunity, and I think how much I appreciate taking the field every day has been a big difference for me this year."
In 2025, Veen was with the Rockies for 12 games when he slashed .118/.189/.235.

Kyle Newman of the Denver Post is reporting that the Colorado Rockies have recalled outfielder Zac Veen (No. 9 PuRP) and will designate for ***** ignment infielder Edouard Julien.
This comes on the heels of the news from yesterday that Connor Norby was recalled after Tyler Freeman went to the IL with lumbar pain.
Veen, who has won the Pacific Coast League's "Player of the Week" honors for two consecutive weeks has been on an absolute tear. The 2020 first-round draft pick is currently slashing .327/.402/.635 and leads the Pacific Coast League in both slugging percentage and OPS (1.037) in 100 games with just under 400 at-bats.
As for Julien, in January, the Rockies acquired him and pitcher Pierson Ohl from the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations. The Rockies hoped Julien could bring versatility and a lefty bat to their lineup. However, he has struggled during his time in Colorado.
Currently, he is slashing .208/.322/.292 (65 wRC+). There have also been questions about his fielding where he has -7 DRS at second base.

Elfyn Evans holds third place at Rally Finland despite rolling his Toyota on Saturday, as Sebastien Ogier was taken to hospital after crashing out of the lead.
Nine-time champion Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia had a big accident on stage 17 - Saturday's penultimate stage - after they ran wide on a fast, right-hand corner and their Toyota crashed into trees.
The stage was stopped and an update from Toyota said both Ogier and Ingrassia got out of the car "unassisted", and were taken to hospital for checks but were "conscious and generally OK".
Sami Pajari, who won his first rally at the previous round in Estonia, inherited first place from Ogier and leads his home event with two stages remaining on Sunday.
The Finnish driver holds an advantage of 46.4 seconds over Toyota team-mate Oliver Solberg, while Evans moved into third place ahead of Hyundai's Adrien Fourmaux after setting the fastest time on Saturday's final stage.

World Rally Championship organisers have red flagged stage 17 at Rally Finland after Sebastien Ogier suffered a high-speed crash from the lead.
The reigning world champion and co-driver Julien Ingrassia were heading towards the end of stage 17 when their Toyota GR Yaris Rally 1 car fired off the road at speed. The car was pitched into a series of rolls heading towards the trees.
Toyota has confirmed that Ogier and Ingrassia exited the car unassisted and are conscious, but will be transported to hospital for further checks.
"Both driver and co-driver were able to get out of the car unassisted. They are both conscious and generally OK, and will be transported to hospital for further checks. The team will provide further updates in due course," read a statement from the Toyota Gazoo Racing.
A statement from the FIA added: "During SS17 'Västilä' at WRC Rally Finland, the crew of car #1 , Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, were involved in a high-impact accident.

After a thrilling weekend in the United States, the Wanda Diamond League will head back to Europe to continue its 2026 season with a meet in Monaco.
The 10th meet of the year will bring a stacked lineup of Olympic and world champion athletes together for a world-class competition in glamorous Monaco. Diamond League is officially in the back end of its 2026 schedule, with only a handful of meets remaining before the two-day final in Brussels on September 4-5.
In recent years, Monaco has seen several world records during Diamond League competitions, and this year should be no different. Fans will see Jamaica's Oblique Seville headline the men's 100m, while Saint Lucia's Julien Alfred will compete in the women's 200m. Masai Russell will also continue to chase a world record in the women's 100m hurdles.

The Colorado Rockies took the field under the scorching sun at Coors Field this afternoon looking for a series win against the San Francisco Giants to close out their final homestand before the All-Star Break. It wasn’t always pretty, but these scrappy and exciting rebuilding Rockies kept themselves within reach at all times, kept the game interesting, and eventually walked away with a win thanks to a bullpen that bent but didn’t break and the late game heroics of one Kyle Karros.
When you look at Tanner Gordon working five innings with seven strikeouts and two walks while giving up six hits, it sounds like a pretty good start. The problem is that four of those six hits were home runs. Gordon allowed five earned runs this afternoon, all of which scored via the long ball.
After the Rockies took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Gordon gave up a two-run shot to Drew Gilbert in the top of the second. He also gave up two solo home runs off the bat of Rafael Devers, the second of which was demolished with authority all the way into the right field third deck. That second home run was one of two times Gordon was taken deep in his fifth and final inning of work with Casey Schmitt–who has made highlight reels for his defense this series–being responsible for the other.

Brennan Bernardino took over for Tanner Gordon in the sixth inning and faced immediate traffic by walking Willy Adames on four pitches. A rare error under the glove of Ezequiel Tovar allowed Bryce Eldridge to reach safely and a Drew Gilbert single scored what looked to be the losing run as the Rockies’ offense had gone quiet. However, Bernardino escaped the inning giving up just that one run thanks to a sacrifice bunt for the first out of the inning and an incredibly fortuitous double play by Edouard Julien and Kyle Karros.

After falling behind early from a shaky start by their starting pitcher, the Colorado Rockies rallied offensively and the bullpen shut things down to secure a series split with the Miami Marlins and a 14-4 victory.
Something seemed to finally start clicking for Michael Lorezen over the month of June and the hope was to keep things rolling into July. His first start this month proved to be a grind.
Lorenzen’s command was shaky from the get-go. Liam Hicks led off the game with a single, followed by a double from Otto Lopez. Both pitches were left over the plate and the Marlins did not miss. Lorenzen then issued a walk to Kyle Stowers to load the bases. Xavier Edwards grounded into a force out that could have been a double play if Edouard Julien hadn’t hesitated on the throwing decision. The play scored the run to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead. Lorenzen then issued another walk to Griffin Conine to load the bases once again. Owen Caissie lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to drive in Lopez and give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.
He escaped the inning on the next hitter and rebounded with a quick 1-2-3 second inning. Lopez smacked a lead-off triple in the top of the third and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Edwards to extend the lead 3-1. Thanks to a couple of nifty defensive plays about the run, including a sharply hit ball to Julien, Lorenzen ended the inning without any further damage.

The email arrived as the clock struck midnight and as the end of the July 1 free agency frenzy turned into a new day, one that many teams hope signals the dawn of a new era.
It may not be that dramatic for general manager Julien BriseBois and the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have averaged 101 points the past four seasons and are coming off a 50-win campaign. Alas, the Bolts expired in the first round of the playoff derby each year, an empty-feeling stretch following a memorable run to three straight final rounds and a pair of Cups.
Indeed, work needed to be done and as Wednesday melted into Thursday it was known that John Carlson was on his way to 401 Channelside Drive. The signing (two years, $8.5 million per) of the 36-year-old defenseman followed agreeing to terms with a pair of forwards earlier in the day: 31-year-old Ilya Mikheyev (four years, $3.85 AAV) and 29-year-old Jeffrey Viel (five years, $2.5 AAV).
BriseBois also dealt forward Nick Paul to Toronto for 24-year-old goaltender Dennis Hildeby and draft picks each of the next two years. While battling the injury bug last season and recording a minus-15 in 51 games, it was evident Paul’s role was decreasing. The Mississauga, Ont. native heads home after playing all or part of the last five seasons with the Lightning.

Gavin Simpson of Marshfield won three individual events and was part of a winning relay at the Far West League middle school track meet.
Simpson won the 100 (11.97 seconds) and 200 (24.23) and also took the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 8 inches. He also was part of Marshfield’s winning 4x100 relay (47.98).
North Bend’s Raleigh Collier won both the 800 (2:11.06) and 1,500 (4:29.69).
Tyler Camp of Azalea in Brookings won the 100 hurdles (14.53) and 200 hurdles (26.49).
Other winners were Reedsport’s Julien Nazareno in the 400 (55.69), North Bend’s Michael Lu in the shot put (38-5), Winston’s Eli Knebel in the discus (165-7), Myrtle Point’s David Huff in the aero javelin (160-1), North Bend’s Blake Horton in the pole vault (10-3) and Quintin Coordes of Waldport in the long jump (19-6 ¾).

Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for the signing of their captain, Mads Bidstrup (25), as per a report from L’Équipe.
Lyon are preparing to participate in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Champions League. As the transfer window opens, they are already strengthening their squad. Kail Boudache’s arrival has already been confirmed. The winger has joined on a free transfer from OGC Nice.
Julien Duranville also looks set to join in a €5.5m deal from Borussia Dortmund. Bidstrup is also nearing a move to the Groupama Stadium. As per L’Équipe, a €10m agreement has been agreed with RB Salzburg. The Danish midfielder is set to sign a five-year deal.
An undisputed starter for Thomas Letsch’s team, Bidstrup started 34 of the 36 matches he played across all competitions this season – contributing one ***** ist. Should he sign with Lyon, the Dane could effectively replace Tanner Tessmann (24), whose departure this summer seems increasingly likely, as the American – who was not called up by Mauricio Pochettino for the World Cup – is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League.

After a quick four-game series split against the Giants in Milwaukee, the Brewers are headed out west for a three-game set in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. The Crew sits at 37-23 on the season, five games ahead of the Cardinals and Pirates atop the NL Central as of this writing. On the other side, the Rockies are coming off back-to-back series wins over the Giants and Angels, moving them to 24-39 on the season, still in last place in the NL West.
While several key players have returned for the Brewers in recent weeks, they had a string of injuries in Thursday’s series finale against the Giants, as both DL Hall and Grant Anderson exited. Hall has already been ruled out for the road trip, as he’ll remain in Milwaukee to undergo an MRI scan as he deals with left subscapular/pectoral discomfort. Anderson, who took a liner off his right arm, is reportedly day-to-day with a contusion after X-rays were negative. Lefty Rob Zastryzny, who returned from the IL last weekend, went right back on the shelf with a trap strain, and he’s out until at least late June. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff is close to returning, as is outfielder Brandon Lockridge, who is on the verge of a rehab **** ignment. Right-hander Quinn Priester is now rehabbing with the ACL Brewers as he continues to deal with the effects of thoracic outlet syndrome. Right-hander Logan Henderson and left-hander Jared Koenig are also expected to return in the coming weeks.
For Colorado, they also have a few day-to-day injuries, as TJ Rumfield is dealing with a nagging shoulder issue, and Tyler Freeman is dealing with shin soreness. Outfielders Jordan Beck, Mickey Moniak, and Brenton Doyle are also out, with Moniak the closest to returning, potentially as soon as this weekend. DH Kris Bryant continues to be plagued by injuries, as he hasn’t played a single game this season. On the pitching side, RJ Petit (2027), McCade Brown (TBD), Jose Quintana (second half), Chase Dollander (TBD), Victor Vodnik (TBD), Jimmy Herget (mid-June), and Welinton Herrera (TBD) are all out.
Jake Bauers is the first Brewer to hit double-digit homers this year, hitting his 10th of the season earlier this week. Brice Turang has seven homers, while Jackson Chourio’s two-homer game in Thursday’s series finale brings him to four for the year, tied with William Contreras and Christian Yelich. Beyond those guys, Milwaukee’s offense features Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, David Hamilton, Andrew Vaughn, Joey Ortiz, Gary Sánchez, Blake Perkins, and Luis Rengifo. As a team, the Brewers are hitting .247/.336/.369 (.705 OPS ranks tied for 16th), with 44 homers (last), 301 runs (sixth), and 63 steals (second).

Jim Irsay collection generates $93 million at auction

Last night, we mentioned that a guitar used by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd generated a record price of $14.6 million. That was just one piece of the broader auction of the Jim Irsay collection.
Via Dan Hajducky of ESPN, the full complement of high-end memorabilia yielded $93 million.
