The Chicago Bears opened training camp today, and with everyone reporting to Halas Hall, they made two more roster moves by placing defensive end Montez Sweat on the Active/Non-Football Illness list and safety Elijah Hicks on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Sweat joins linebacker T.J. Edwards on the NFI list, and much like T.J., Sweat's stay isn't expected to be long. Earlier today, general manager Ryan Poles said Edwards injured his calf during offseason training and is expected back soon, calling it "nothing major." Sweat's illness is expected to keep him away for a few days.
Hicks reported some shin discomfort when reporting, so his start to camp will be delayed a bit. He joins nickelback Kyler Gordon, linebackers Keyshaun Elliott and Noah Sewell, offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner on the PUP list.
Poles said Gordon spent the entire offseason at Halas Hall to make sure he was ready, but there has been a "delay" in his recovery. This latest issue is with this calf, and there is no timetable to return.

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly traded forward Johni Broome and a second-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for cash, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
The move helps Philadelphia get its financials under both the first and second aprons after signing both LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Broome is coming off his rookie season. The 24-year-old played in only 11 games and had 10 points, 16 rebounds and 4 ******* ists in 55 total minutes.
Philadelphia drafted Broome with the 35th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Clippers get young depth that can be developed. He joins a loaded roster of forwards after L.A. signed Rui Hachimura and traded for Gradey ******* and Brandon Ingram in the Kawhi Leonard trade with the Toronto Raptors (once that deal becomes official).
James signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the 76ers. The signing of James and Caldwell-Pope pushed the 76ers into the first apron, but this trade helps the franchise get under both the first and second aprons.

Fleetwood Town have signed defender Jake Batty on a two-year deal after his release by Swindon Town earlier this summer.

He then joined Swindon earlier this year and made 17 appearances at the tail end of the season on a short-term deal.
Batty's arrival comes alongside that of goalkeeper James Pradic, who joins following his release by Preston North End.
Pradic, 21, spent five years with North End but did not make a senior appearance for the club.

The final few weeks of the summer transfer window will be busy for Real Madrid, with signings and exits expected. In terms of incomings, Yan Diomande and Rodri are wanted, while there are several first team players that have been earmarked as candidates to leave before the end of next month.
Raul Asencio, Eduardo Camavinga and Franco Mastantuono (loan) are players that Real Madrid want to move on, while they could also be convinced to sell Gonzalo Garcia amid strong interest from Alvaro Arbeloa's Fulham. The La Fabrica graduate would bring in much-needed funds in the event that Diomande and Rodri are signed, although head coach Jose Mourinho would prefer him to remain at the Bernabeu.
Mourinho considers Gonzalo to be a differential option in attack. He's the closest thing that Real Madrid have to a target forward, and if the decision is eventually made for him to stay, it could mean that a different attacking player departs in his place.
That player could be Endrick. Despite reports earlier in the summer that Mourinho wanted to keep the Brazil international in his squad for the 2026-27 season, Marca have reported that Real Madrid are now considering whether to loan him out again.
Real Madrid see Endrick as one of their biggest stars for the future, but right now, his chances of regular playing time look slim – especially if Diomande joins, as expected. There are fears that his development will be stunted if he does not feature prominently, which is why club bosses are considering whether to send him on loan for the second successive transfer window.

England international Hannah Hampton has signed a new two-year deal with Chelsea.
The goalkeeper's contract was set to expire this summer and it was key that Chelsea kept her as part of an effort to bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
After joining from Aston Villa in 2023, Hampton has become one of the world's best goalkeepers and cemented her position as first choice for the Lionesses.
The 25-year-old has won five trophies during her time in west London and was a standout performer as England won Euro 2025.
She won the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or awards last year and joins fellow England internationals Lucy Bronze and Aggie Beever-Jones in signing new Chelsea deals this summer.

Notre Dame football is fairly close to closing out its 2027 recruiting class, with 23 total commitments after Brayden Parks made his verbal on Thursday.
The Irish have an elite class, one that ranks among the best in the nation and could end up being the top overall class. With that said, Notre Dame has the luxury of moving onto the 2028 cycle, one where they already have two commits, safety Andre Jones and kicker Owen Davies.
One of their top targets is Illinois edge rusher Darieon Prescott, a 5-star in the 247Sports Composite, ranking as the No. 18 overall player in the class. On Friday the 6-foot, 6-inch and 220-pound star announced via On3's Hayes Fawcett that he'll be committing on Monday with Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M as his finalists.
Prescott has visited all three schools, as he was in South Bend to see the Irish hosting Purdue. Scanning his social media, it doesn't look like he visited this spring, but he did see the Ducks and Aggies. It's hard to say where he's leaning at the moment, but the hope is that proximity plays a part in Prescott's decision and joins other Illinois players who matriculate to Notre Dame.

LeBron James is on the Philadelphia 76ers. That's going to take some time getting used to typing out. The 41-year-old made his long-awaited free agency announcement on Friday morning. The last big domino fell in this summer's NBA offseason. He signed a two-year, $8 million contract.
Spending over three weeks to make his decision, James picked the one NBA team that most probably spent the least amount of time talking about. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat dominated most of the discourse, but they finished just short of landing the 22-time NBA All-Star.
So let me check my notes. We have James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on the same team? Wow. Two former MVP winners, an NBA Finals MVP and a 30-point scorer. That's some star-studded stuff that rivals your typical All-NBA team. Talk about a summer for Philadelphia — who flipped Paul George for those two.
The Sixers have catapulted their way to the top of the leaderboard in the East. But what does James' decision mean for the Oklahoma City Thunder? Probably not a lot. At least not until next June at the earliest.
This has been one of the NBA's most blockbuster summers. It's the type of frantic movement that Shams Charania teased for last year. Of the two conferences, the East has seen the most shake-up. The New York Knicks are the reigning NBA champions. In response, the Miami Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo. Brown went from the Boston Celtics to the Sixers. Now, James joins him in Philadelphia.

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Renardo Green enters his third NFL season with a target on his back, and it's not just Kyle Shanahan applying pressure. According to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, cornerback Jack Jones has quietly become one of the most significant additions of the 49ers' offseason and a legitimate threat to unseat Green as a starter.
"I remember talking to people during the offseason program around the 49ers, and they were of the opinion that Jack Jones was making a big-time push and could end up being a starter ahead of Renardo Green," Maiocco said. "I don't necessarily think will happen. But it could happen. ... "So, having a veteran player like Jack Jones on the roster and lining up and taking reps at the same spot as Renardo Green and Renardo knowing that he's in a battle or he's going to have to fight for his starting job can only help him."
Jones, 28, joins San Francisco after starting all but one game combined over the past two seasons: 16 starts for the Raiders in 2024, then all 17 for the Dolphins in 2025. He's coming off a season with 77 tackles, six passes defensed and an interception in Miami. Green, by comparison, played the entire 2025 season without competition at his spot, finishing with seven passes defensed and no interceptions.
The numbers, per Pro Football Focus, actually favor Jones. He ranked 67th among 114 qualifying cornerbacks in overall defensive grade last season, with a strong run-defense mark that placed him 15th at the position. Green ranked 93rd overall, with a run-defense grade of 65th.
Maiocco also doesn't believe Jones signed to play a backup role.
