Princess Charlene was joined by her brother for a heartfelt evening as she supported a cause close to her heart.
The Monegasque royal, 48, posed for pictures alongside her younger sibling, Gareth Wittstock, as the pair attended the Pink Ribbon Monaco Gala at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.
Charlene was dressed elegantly in an all-white Emporio Armani suit with black heels and diamond drop earrings, while businessman Gareth donned a tuxedo with a pink bow tie.
During the ceremony, the pair helped to illuminate the Place du Casino in pink to mark the start of "Pink October" for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Since 2024, Princess Charlene has been Honorary President of Pink Ribbon Monaco, which raises awareness and funds for female cancers research and prevention. The Monagesque palace confirmed that 24 buildings within the Principality will also be lit up in pink throughout the month.

Of all the chatter surrounding FC Cincinnati's 5-0 drubbing at the hands of the surging Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night, the most illuminating quote came in the buildup to the match, when manager Pat Noonan was asked to take a stab at explaining his team's poor away form this season.
"I didn't realize, record-wise, how poor it was, because there's been games where I think we've been good, and maybe the results don't go our way," Noonan said. "But there's a lot of things this year that feel like they're out of the norm. One of them is our inability to have success on the road. I can't put a finger on it."
It was a strikingly honest moment from the fifth-year Cincy manager, one that suggested more pressing concerns than the variance-related issue of whether more wins came home or away.
And it foreshadowed one of the more troubling performances by the club since Noonan and sporting director Chris Albright took over the once-flailing outfit ahead of the 2022 season.
The lopsided result left Cincinnati with a 1W-6L-5D away record, but could be forgiven in isolation. Cincinnati played the hefty majority of the match a man down following Obinna Nwobodo's 16th-minute dismissal. And Philadelphia's high-pressing game model is exactly the kind that can exploit a man advantage once it gets a lead and forces its opponent to emerge from a low block.

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Thousands of young Orthodox Christians gathered in Romania's capital for a candlelit procession that illuminated a trail from the giant National Cathedral to Patriarchate Hill, a historic site considered sacred to Romanian Orthodoxy.
The Procession of Lights was part of a four-day program for the eighth edition of the International Meeting of Orthodox Youth in Bucharest. The annual gathering brings together 2,400 people aged 16 to 35, many from Romania and its diaspora and other Orthodox churches.
Pilgrims from dozens of countries carried candles and flags through Bucharest's streets as they made their way to Patriarchate Hill, home to the headquarters of the Romanian Patriarchate, and the Patriarchal Residence and Cathedral.
Romania is one of the most pious countries in the European Union, with around 85% of the population identifying as religious. The Romanian Orthodox Church is a powerful institution that plays a central role in many people's lives.
In his opening speech Tuesday, Patriarch Daniel said the gathering provides "a concrete opportunity to intensify the mission of young people in the life of the Church today" in what he described as a "rapidly secularizing society."

In the 2026/27 Premier League season, Manchester City are the Erling Haaland Team originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
When Pep Guardiola stepped down as Manchester City manager at the end of last season, he was told by one of the club's media that he had conducted nearly 1,150 press conferences.
"Why are you leaving? Because of one thousand, one hundred press conferences!" Guardiola joked in reply, an exchange captured in the new Amazon documentary A Beautiful Obsession.
The Catalan was never less than captivating company on those appointments. Sometimes terse, often illuminating, frequently and acidically sarcastic. Most of the time, Guardiola would plant the headline-making statements expertly. Often, the top line of his briefings would be something he felt compelled to get off his chest, regardless of whether it related to the question just asked.
Now and then, he'd land himself in hot water. After a breakthrough 1-0 win at reigning champions Chelsea in September 2017, the City boss was keen not to get ahead of himself. His team would end the season on a record-breaking 100-point tally, but he did not take beating the competition for granted.

"I ***** love Foucault. I ***** with Foucault hard," enthused Supriya Ganesh, star of The Pitt, in a recent interview with New York magazine. Ganesh, who uses she/they ***** ouns, never felt comfortable with rigid gender and ***** uality labels, and Foucault's The History of ***** uality, Volume I showed her how these categories have in fact varied across cultures and through history: "I think this idea of defining ***** uality is very new—or at least that's the argument he's making … it really illuminated a lot of that for me."
Ganesh was unwittingly providing fresh evidence for the central argument of The Frenchmen: Or, My Life in Theory, which proposes that a small group of dead twentieth-century intellectuals are "crucial for understanding the world we inhabit today." Written by Emily Eakin, a senior editor at The New York Times Book Review, The Frenchmen focuses on eight French or French-speaking theorists (Louis Althusser, Roland Barthes, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, Michel Foucault, Félix Guattari, Jacques Lacan, and Paul de Man) who, she argues, "permanently alter[ed] how we think not only about bedrock philosophical ideas but about the role of language in shaping those beliefs and everything else."
Eakin's Frenchmen are an eclectic group, differing in interests, politics, and methods. Two were practicing psychoanalysts. Most were academics, working in fields including philosophy, linguistics, semiotics, anthropology, history, and comparative literature. They wrote on topics as varied as schizophrenia, prison architecture, photography, Edgar Allan Poe, and (in Barthes's case) their mom. What unites them, according to Eakin, is their emphasis on systems, as opposed to individuals, and their attention to the complex and contradictory ways that language operates. Instead of taking for granted (as the existentialists did) that people are autonomous free agents defined by their choices, they wrote about the ways people and texts are created and constrained by powerful yet unstable structures of knowledge and language—an idea that resonates in our era of inescapable algorithms and artificial intelligence. ("Chatbots frighten us," Eakin writes, "to the degree that they make literal theory's suggestion that thought does not require a human thinker.")
"Deconstruction," an ***** ytical method developed by Derrida, came to define French theory and is at the heart of Eakin's book. She defines it as "a style of reading" that "took apart" a text and left it in pieces, showing how it was undone by its own internal contradictions. A common deconstructive move is to show how the binary terms that a text's argument depends on—for example, speech versus writing—are not actually opposed after all. In classic Derridean fashion, Eakin structures her book around an oft-repeated binary between "theory" and "real life" that she sees as ripe for deconstructing, contrasting the Frenchmen's "stringent antihumanism" with their all-too-human lives; academic t

Grail (NASDAQ: GRAL), which was spun off from Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN) in 2024, reached a record high of $116.06 on Jan. 22. But today, the cancer test developer's stock trades at just under $70. Is it a buy, sell, or hold at these levels?
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Grail's Galleri blood test aims to detect signals from dozens of cancers before any symptoms appear. That seems like a game changer for the oncology market, but its stock plunged in February after its largest NHS England trial failed to meet its primary endpoint. That trial was considered a crucial stepping stone toward an FDA approval in the U.S. -- which would clear the way for private insurance and Medicare plans to cover its tests.
However, Grail already sells Galleri on a cash-only basis (for $749 to $949) to independent customers, select employers, hospital pilots, and telehealth programs. Its NHS England trial also wasn't a complete failure: Galleri's users in the trial still had fewer Stage IV cancers detected, and it achieved earlier (Stage I and II) detection of the deadliest cancers.
Even without a near-term FDA approval, ******* ysts expect Grail's revenue to grow from $147 million in 2025 to $281 million in 2028. It won't generate a profit anytime soon, and its stock isn't cheap at 17 times this year's sales, but an FDA approval could help it crush those estimates. Therefore, I think it's smarter to buy and hold Grail at under $70 than to hastily sell it.

The Eagles' second practice featured a cameo from Brian Dawkins, an illuminating news conference from Vic Fangio, and my realization that Makai Lemon is partial to blue raspberry water ice from Rita's.
For a comprehensive breakdown of everything that happened at practice, be sure to watch or listen to our Thursday show, which detailed essentially every play from practice and much more, but here are a few big-picture takeaways I left the Jefferson Health Complex with:
After an opening practice mostly defined by the new-look Eagles offense showing some encouraging signs, things were much more even between the offense and defense on Thursday. I usually attribute "muddy" practices where you don't have as many notes to a strong defensive line causing more broken-down plays, but the Eagles' secondary also deserves plenty of credit for the number of passing plays that wound up with scrambles or check downs to the flat.
What did stand out amidst the stalemate were two of the players central to it: DeVonta Smith and Quinyon Mitchell. Smith got the better of Mitchell on consecutive plays early in practice, the first coming on a slant route where he beat Mitchell to the inside for Hurts to find him in rhythm. The next play, Smith broke toward the sideline and made a nice, leaping catch over Mitchell and seemed to get his feet in bounds along the sideline, although his defensive teammates in close proximity protested the catch.
Seeing these flashes from Smith when matched up against Mitchell isn't an entirely new phenomenon, but Mitchell's most competitive moments in each of his first two training camps came against A.J. Brown, not Smith. And, as we're evaluating whether Smith is truly ready to step into a No. 1 receiver role for the Eagles this season, being able to create separation against an All-Pro cornerback who so seldom allows it on Sundays is an important box to check.

HETAUDA, Nepal (AP) — She paces the side of the darkened highway in central Nepal, just enough light from the trucks roaring past to illuminate her painted face to the men rolling in on rickshaws and motorbikes. She knows that every stranger who pays for her body could end her life. But she also knows their money is the only thing preventing her death.
This spot, littered in condom wrappers and fringed by jungle, is familiar to her. Rubi Lama once came here not as a **** worker, but as an aid worker who helped **** workers.
For nine years, Lama — who is transgender — had devoted her life to conducting HIV outreach in Nepal's marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ+ **** workers who wait by this highway each night. But after the United States slashed its foreign aid funding last year, Lama and more than 280,000 aid workers worldwide found themselves out of a job.
Much has been written about the devastating impacts the U.S. foreign aid cuts have had on the millions of people the funding once helped. Far less is known about the impacts on the helpers themselves.
In impoverished Nepal, where a conservative culture leaves openly transgender people with few legal job options, the impact on aid workers' lives was particularly crushing. Starving and scared, Lama and around 100 other LGBTQ+ aid workers left jobless by the funding cuts have turned to **** work to survive, walking the streets alongside the very people they once fought so hard to help.

FC Bayern is lighting up its Allianz Arena in the colours of Disability Pride Month, which is taking place for the first time in Munich, from 21-23:00 CEST on Friday. Red represents physical disabilities, yellow stands for cognitive disabilities, white signifies invisible disabilities, blue symbolises mental illnesses, green represents sensory disabilities and black is in memory of people who died due to discrimination. It’s a visible sign of respect, self-determination and an inclusive society. Together with the state capital of Munich, the German champions are sending out a clear signal: people with disabilities are, of course, an integral part of society – including in sport and in the stadium.
“FC Bayern stands for diversity and does a lot to raise awareness of the lives of people with disabilities,” explained disability officer Kim Krämer. “The club has been carrying out various inclusion-focused projects for many years. The fact that FC Bayern and the City of Munich are now sending out a visible sign in Disability Pride Month is another step on the road towards a natural coexistence. The illumination of the Allianz Arena is a strong signal that everyone belongs at FC Bayern, and that they can get involved and help to shape the club – regardless of disability.”
FC Bayern is constantly working on making the Allianz Arena and its general offerings as accessible as possible, in consultation with the fans. For example, there are now 324 wheelchair ******* es in the stadium, as well as commentary for the blind, a delivery service to the seats, live subtitles for people with hearing impairment and the presentation of the line-ups in sign language for men’s, women’s and basketball matches on the website. Information in simple language also makes it easier for people to find their way around. The club is continuously optimising its digital offerings to enable as many people as possible to access them independently.

Real Madrid approach every summer under a spotlight bright enough to illuminate every corridor of Valdebebas, every whisper in the boardroom, every tactical preference of the coach. This window already carries that familiar sense of theatre, yet the mood around the Bernabeu feels particularly instructive. There is movement, there is patience, and there is a clear idea emerging of what the club believe the current squad can yet become.
According to The Athletic, the biggest immediate development has been the departure of Fran Garcia, with Real Betis set to pay close to €4million and Madrid retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause. It is tidy business, practical rather than dramatic, and significant chiefly because it continues a process of reshaping around the fringes of the first-team group.
The report notes that Fran Garcia is the fourth departure since the end of last season, following the exits of Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Dani Ceballos. That matters because Madrid's summer, at least so far, has been defined less by flamboyant recruitment and more by recalibration. At a club where expectation often demands a marquee storyline, this is a more deliberate piece of squad management.

At the heart of that strategy lies one of the clearest statements of intent in the entire piece, "midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, 26, signed a new contract until 2031." In a market that can lure clubs into unnecessary restlessness, that renewal feels substantial. Tchouameni is not simply retained, he is reaffirmed. He represents physical authority, positional intelligence and a degree of midfield control that elite sides still require when knock-out football tightens and games become contests of nerve as much as imagination.

Mikey Moore had a nice time in Scotland on loan at Rangers last season, and now it looks like he could be heading out again, with a step up in competition level. Ekrem Konur is reporting that Spurs and Dortmund are in talks that could see Mikey head to the Bundesliga runners-up on loan this season.
So this is REALLY interesting, and if it bears out we could learn a lot about Mikey Moore's ability and ceiling. Dortmund finished 2nd behind (who else) Bayern Munich last season, so Moore would be heading to a very solid team that is again in European competition. I'm not wild about the purchase option, but it does seem like, according to Konur, Spurs are trying to negotiate that clause out of the deal. No idea if that'll happen, but it's a good sign that Mikey's still in Spurs' future plans.
Dortmund is going to be a real test for Mikey. The ideal situation is that he goes there, plays a bunch of minutes, and comes away with a solid experience, even if he doesn't set the world on fire. If he has a bad loan — chained to the bench or even just training and not named to first team squads — well, that's bad but it also tells us something important about Mikey and his ceiling. He's still a young guy, but if this loan goes through how he does there should be pretty illuminating.
I like the idea of sending Mikey out to a good team in probably the third best league in Europe. That's better than getting lost on the bench at Spurs with other, older and more experienced wingers playing ahead of him. Since Spurs aren't in Europe this season, getting our talented youngsters first team experience is paramount. I like this deal, and hope it happens. We'll probably find out soon enough.
And in the meantime, you can check out this training video of Moore and Will "BIG WILLY LANKS" Lanskshear absolutely leathering the ball into the net.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Cricket ****** ociation (UPCA) is likely to shift the upcoming Uttar Pradesh T20 League from Green Park Stadium in Kanpur to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, barely weeks after announcing Kanpur as the host venue.

The UPCA had, during a press conference in Kanpur on May 13, declared that the fourth edition of the league would be held at Green Park.

However, the decision was reviewed following a technical ****** sment of the venue ahead of the tournament, scheduled to be held in Aug.

UPCA sources claimed that the stadium’s ageing infrastructure, inadequate floodlighting, limited spectator capacity and concerns over rain-related disruptions have prompted the change of venue.

“Since the conclusion of the India-Afghanistan international match, UPCA officials have been carrying out a comprehensive technical ****** sment of the playing conditions at Green Park Stadium in view of the proposed three-week-long tournament,” a source said.

The ****** sment found that the existing floodlighting system falls short of the standards required for televised matches. “The broadcasting team requires a minimum illumination of 1,700 lux for high-quality telecast, whereas the existing floodlights at Green Park generate only around 1,400 lux,” he said.

The ****** ociation also cited a recent report by the public works department restricting the stadium’s spectator capacity to around 14,000, significantly lower than its earlier capacity, creating operational and commercial constraints for the organisers.

Another major concern was the stadium’s vulnerability to waterlogging during the monsoon. Green Park has been struggling with inadequate drainage, resulting in delays in restoring playing conditions after heavy rain.

With the tournament scheduled during the peak monsoon season and forecasts indicating prolonged rainfall in Aug, officials fear repeated interruptions over the three-week tournament.

UPCA sources said the combination of technical, infrastructural and weather-related challenges left the organisers with little option but to relocate the tournament to Ekana Stadium, which offers superior drainage, modern floodlighting and significantly higher seating capacity.

Moroccan football fans erupted in celebration across Casablanca following their team's dramatic World Cup victory, while contrasting scenes unfolded in The Hague, where police clashed with supporters after the Netherlands were eliminated on penalties on Monday night.
The Dutch city saw sporadic unrest in areas with a significant Moroccan community. Police in The Hague reported that "heavy fireworks were set off" in the Schilderswijk district, with officers being targeted by fireworks and stones.
Riot squads were deployed, using a water cannon to disperse the crowds. Authorities confirmed that "a few individuals have been arrested for committing open violence."
In Morocco's largest city, Casablanca, a tense silence gripped a popular coffee shop as the penalty shootout reached its climax. This quickly transformed into a deafening roar when Ismael Saibari converted the decisive spot kick, securing Morocco's place in the Round of 16.
The jubilation swiftly spilled onto the streets, with flares and fireworks illuminating the night sky. Car horns blared and engines revved as fans celebrated well into the early hours.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The moment was made for Jaron "Boots" Ennis. It was cultivated before anyone even knew who he was — back in "The Dungeon" years.
This dungeon had no specters lurking. It was where pain was processed, where doubts were checked at the entrance and where future champions were honed. Small, round pools of light pierced the darkness. Industrial lanterns illuminated the musty, thick air of the dungeon each time the power went out, and it went out often.
In the basement of this Germantown Philadelphia church is where Derek "Bozy" Ennis built a makeshift gym for his sons: Derek, Farah, and the youngest, Jaron, nicknamed "Boots."
The problem with "Boots" is he always liked to fight. Blessed with agility, speed and ambidextrous power, he could sometimes eat punches he could have avoided.
A sense of tranquility always pervaded, because the Ennis family genuinely felt one of the three were destined to make it in the hardscrabble world of professional boxing. Derek nor Farah had the skill nor disciple of "Boots." And when "Boots" was rising, Team Boots was bogged down by lawsuits that tethered him to managers. His career was delayed because of it, but "Boots" knew, and his father knew, talent always rises.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. – As the setting sun illuminated Shinnecock Hills in a golden hue on Saturday evening, Wyndham Clark polished off his third round of the 126th U.S. Open in relative solitude.
It was even lonelier atop the leaderboard.
As Clark scrambled like **** to an even-par 72 and six-shot lead, fans scrambled for the exits. The day had started with encouraging energy – a warmer, firmer Shinnecock and the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele in contention – but by the time the final pairing of Clark and Matt Fitzpatrick hit the back stretch, the grandstands and chalets were half full to basically empty. Even the club’s iconic clubhouse, usually bustling with movers and shakers, was eerily quiet as Clark entered its scoring area, having all but sucked the life out of this championship.
Four players trail by a touchdown, including Scheffler, who posted one of only two under-par rounds on the day but squandered shots on each of his final three holes. Had it not been for Clark’s closing bogey, you could’ve tacked on the extra point. A seven-stroke deficit would’ve required a repeat of the largest final-round comeback in championship history to deny Clark, who coincidentally grew up on Cherry Hills Country Club, where Arnold Palmer orchestrated his record rally to win the 1960 U.S. Open.
Not that one shot makes much difference – Johnny Miller is the only man who has made up six strokes in this championship, and he needed a Sunday 63 to prevail at Oakmont in 1973. Considering a third of Shinnecock’s 18 holes yielded three or fewer birdies in Round 3, including Nos. 2 and 3 each allowing just a single score under par, it’s highly unlikely that Scheffler or anyone else has that kind of performance in them as the USGA figures to tighten the screws on this golf course even more for Sunday’s finish.

Did Edison Accidentally Create a Vital Superconductor?

While Thomas Edison was at work on one of his greatest achievements, he may have accidentally produced a substance that wouldn’t be isolated for another century—and it’s currently in high demand.
In 1879, Edison showed off the invention he’s best remembered for today: the light bulb, the world’s first practical electric incandescent lamp. It was a paradigm-shifting breakthrough, enabling people to safely illuminate their homes. In this design, electricity travels through a skinny filament in a glass vacuum bulb that grows hot enough to

If you want to stand out at your next metal gig, don't settle for a spot of color in a sea of black – go ultrablack instead.
Engineers at Cornell University have created the blackest fabric on record, finding it absorbs 99.87 percent of all light that dares to illuminate its surface.
To make something ultrablack, you can't just dip it in a dye and call it a day. It requires manipulating the structure of a material on the nanoscopic scale so that it captures as much light as possible.
