Bees fans have always supported the club with passion, positivity, unity and respect for those around them, and we want to ensure Brentford remains a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and can enjoy watching the club they love.
Creating a ****** e where everyone feels welcome means taking a clear stance against discrimination in all its forms. All types of discrimination are unacceptable, including racist, ****** ist, misogynistic, ****** phobic, transphobic, ableist and faith-based abuse.
This includes discriminatory chanting, songs, language or gestures, whether directed at an individual, team, club or wider group of people, and we continue to urge supporters to carefully consider their words and actions and the impact they may have on others, including fellow supporters.
We would like to make supporters aware of recent changes to the law relating to ****** -based harassment in public.
The Protection from ****** -based Harassment in Public Act 2023 introduced a new aggravated offence under the Public Order Act 1986 where an offence is motivated, wholly or partly, by a person's ****** or presumed ****** . In such cases, courts can now impose a more severe sentence, with the offence carrying a maximum penalty of up to two years' imprisonment.

A football player has been banned for 10 matches after an independent panel found he had made a discriminatory comment towards an opposition player.
Alex Francis, of Salford's Irlam FC, had denied making the comments against a Hallam FC player during an FA Cup match in Sheffield on 9 August, which an FA spokesperson said included a reference to nationality.
The FA said an independent National Serious Case Panel found the allegation to be proven following a hearing and said Francis had until 4 September to appeal against the decision.
Hallam FC secretary Ashley Carson said the punishment was "rightly deserved", adding: "We don't support this sort of thing going on." Irlam FC declined to comment.
The player's suspension is due to start on Monday.

A father in Palo Alto, California, is declaring a victory in court after a federal judge allowed a civil rights lawsuit alleging anti-Asian bias in college admissions to move forward.
Nan Zhong and his son, Stanley Zhong, filed federal lawsuits against several elite institutions, including the University of California system, the University of Washington, the University of Michigan and Cornell University. The complaints allege the universities engaged in "racially discriminatory admissions practices that disadvantage highly qualified Asian-American applicants."
One of their cases will now proceed in part against the University of Washington after a federal judge granted the university defendants' motion to dismiss in part and denied it in part.
"We got an exciting ruling from the judge," Nan Zhong told Fox News Digital. "Effectively, the judge ruled in our favor by denying the university's motion to dismiss. So, this is a major development in the lawsuit. That means the judge found enough factual allegations to support our allegation."

Real Madrid's trip to Galicia for the Teresa Herrera Trophy will take place against a backdrop of growing tension at Deportivo La Coruña, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Federation of Deportivo Supporters' Clubs, Old Faces and Riazor Blues have called on Deportivo supporters to stay away from the stadium for the clash with Real Madrid.
The groups are protesting against the conditions imposed on season-ticket holders in the Lower Marathon stand, which they believe are "discriminatory" and "unfair".
The supporters' groups want the Deportivo board to reconsider the measures affecting fans in the Lower Marathon section.
They argue that the club has moved too far away from the identity and traditions that have traditionally connected Deportivo with its supporters.

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — A federal judge has sided with the Virginia NAACP in its lawsuit against a county school board's reinstatement of Confederate military names to two schools, saying the decision discriminated against Black students and ordering the board to change the schools' monikers again.
In an opinion filed Thursday in U.S. District Court of Virginia, Judge Michael F. Urbanski said the school board in Shenandoah County violated Black students' rights under the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause, which forbids racial discrimination in state-supported institutions. The decision also violates the Equal Educational Opportunities Act, the court found.
Confederate army officers' names are "vestiges" of Shenandoah County's segregationist history that required separate schools for Black and white students.
"The Confederate names were restored with complete awareness of their historic legacy and ongoing discriminatory impact," Urbanski wrote. "In the court's view, the affirmative act of reinstating these vestiges of segregation is far more problematic than a passive failure to remove a long-standing name or symbol."
The judge ordered the board to settle on new school names "on a racially nondiscriminatory basis with all deliberate speed."

Major League Soccer is investigating "reported antisemitic and discriminatory language" from CF Montreal fans toward Israeli striker Dor Turgeman in Saturday's game against the New England Revolution.
Turgeman scored in the 35th minute of the 2-2 draw at Stade Saputo, putting his hands to his ears as he faced up to the home fans, some of whom threw items at the striker.
CF Montreal goalkeeper Sebastian Breza then shoved Turgeman and was shown a yellow card.
In a statement released on Monday, MLS said that it "has been in contact with both clubs since the incident and is currently investigating the matter."
In a statement of their own, the Revs said they "strongly condemn the antisemitic and discriminatory abuse directed at forward Dor Turgeman by CF Montreal supporters during Saturday's away match.

President Donald Trump announced a new round of retaliatory tariffs on July 20 against Canada, invoking the Depression-era Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in a game of **** for tat that can have no winner.
The administration argues that the new tariffs are necessary to address Canada's harmful discrimination against the United States auto industry, and are justified by Section 338 of Smoot-Hawley. But Section 338 has never been used to impose tariffs before this year. Section 338 was designed to deter foreign retaliation by allowing the President to increase tariffs against a country that had discriminatory tariffs or trade restrictions on American goods.
While there can be no doubt that Canada's 25% tariffs on U.S. autos are discriminatory because they target American goods without putting similar burdens on goods from other countries, the administration's evidence supporting the tariffs is weak at best.
In its Proclamation announcing the new tariffs, the administration claimed that Canada's 25% tariff on U.S. autos and auto parts—enacted days after Trump's April 2, 2025 "Liberation Day" Executive Order announcing new U.S. tariffs on Canada and virtually every other country in the world—unfairly discriminates against the American auto industry, thus "disadvantaging the commerce of the United States compared to the commerce of other countries."
In support of this view, the administration claims that Canadian imports of U.S. autos "fell precipitously" by more than $5 billion, or "approximately 22%," while Canada's imports from Mexico, **** an, Korea, and Germany increased by nearly $3 billion.

Influencer and entrepreneur Paige Lorenze is going viral again — this time for beefing with a small business in Nantucket, Mass.
Four Winds Craft Guild, a family-run art shop on the coastal island, went viral earlier this week after its owner, John Sylvia, hung a sign consisting of just two words: "No influencers." Responses to Sylvia's sign have been mixed. Some locals and influencers have supported him, while others have criticized the sign as discriminatory.
One such critic is Lorenze, whose lifestyle brand, Dairy Boy, also has a storefront on Nantucket. After seeing Sylvia's sign on social media, Lorenze was quick to clap back — putting the business on blast for what she sees as an unfair take on influencer culture.
So what's the big deal about the sign and why did it spark an impassioned response from Lorenze? Not chronically online? Not a problem. Below, Yahoo breaks down the drama — and where things stand now.
All right, let's start with the basics. Lorenze is a 28-year-old influencer and entrepreneur with nearly two million followers across her platforms. She is also the founder of Dairy Boy, a nostalgic, coastal-inspired lifestyle brand with pop-ups and retail locations that she launched in 2021.

Beijing lashed out at the European Union after the latter fined AliExpress, the largest Chinese e-commerce platform in the bloc, more than half a billion euros over the uncurbed sale of counterfeit goods on its site.
China's Ministry of Commerce issued a statement on Wednesday, voicing its "strong dissatisfaction and serious concern" over the decision of the European Commission to fine the company 550 million euros (over $627 million) under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

"China firmly opposes the EU's moves to erect digital barriers under the guise of platform regulation and adopt discriminatory measures to restrict and suppress the normal operations of Chinese e-commerce companies in Europe," a spokesperson for the ministry said.

July 22 (Reuters) - A novel lawsuit claiming that Meta Platforms relied on discriminatory AI tools to select employees for layoffs highlights the problems workers face in suing employers over the new technology, including proving how it was actually used.
The case helps illustrate why a widely predicted wave of employment lawsuits over AI use has yet ‌to arrive. Legal experts say workers often have little understanding of how AI systems are used in the workplace and many have also signed away their right to sue in court, ‌agreeing instead to resolve workplace disputes through a private process called arbitration that can keep such claims from ever being tested publicly.
In a ruling last week declining to block Meta from finalizing the terminations of 26 people who sued, U.S. District Judge William Orrick identified a fundamental obstacle for plaintiffs who allege that AI discriminated against them: "they were not in the rooms where it happened."
That means workers like the Meta employees, who claim they were targeted for layoffs because they have disabilities or took medical or family leave, often cannot muster the evidence of wrongdoing necessary to quickly secure a win in court.

Housing Rights Initiative, a nonprofit watchdog organization, has filed multiple complaints with the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights for alleged fair housing violations by Greystar, the largest apartment manager and owner in the nation.
The filings are part of a multi-state action, with 114 total complaints made across six states and Washington, DC, that accuse the company of systematically refusing to rent to prospective tenants holding Section 8 housing vouchers.
"Greystar has been committing mass civil rights violations at a scale unlike anything our organization has ever seen," said Aaron Carr, founder and executive director of Housing Rights Initiative. "We have never encountered a landlord that operates with such brazen contempt and hostility toward the rule of law as Greystar. The largest landlord in America is the most discriminatory landlord in America."
In case you missed it: Older Americans own a third of US homes. How should they pass them on?
In response to the claims, Greystar said in a statement that it "remains committed to fair housing practices." The company also said that it "provides training and expects our team members to comply with all applicable laws."

NEW YORK (AP) — A former Democratic commissioner of one of the country's top civil rights agencies dropped a lawsuit Monday challenging her dismissal by President Donald Trump, citing a recent Supreme Court ruling that dramatically enhanced the president's power over independent agencies.
Trump's unprecedented dismissal of Jocelyn Samuels and another Democrat from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission cleared the way for his shake-up of civil rights enforcement, which has prioritized rooting out diversity and inclusion practices, weakening protections for transgender workers and championing discrimination claims against white workers and U.S.-born workers.
The EEOC moved forward with aspects of that plan Monday, releasing a regulatory agenda that includes proposals to end its annual collection of workplace demographic data and rescind longstanding guidance warning it may be discriminatory to require workers to exclusively use English on the job, among other changes.
One of Trump's first acts as president was demolishing the Democratic majority on the normally five-member EEOC, sweeping away what would have been a major obstacle to his civil rights agenda. His dismissal of Samuels and Charlotte Burrows before the end of their five-year terms was unprecedented in the history of the EEOC, which was created by Congress through the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
The EEOC commission now consists of two Republicans and one Democrat. Trump has yet to nominate candidates to fill two open seats on the commission.

Switzerland players are increasingly facing hateful comments on social media during the World Cup.
"Unfortunately, we can now estimate when the risk of a build-up of such despicable comments increases," a team spokesman told news agency Keystone-SDA.

After the 1-1 opening draw with Qatar in particular, there had been so many discriminatory messages that the comment function on the ***** ociation’s social media channels had been deactivated.
"Also because some of the comments were about the players’ skin colour or origin," the spokesman added.

Koeman's side were knocked out by Morocco in a last-32 shootout after a 1-1 draw in Monterrey.
Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville all missed their efforts and were subjected to discriminatory, racist and hateful comments on social media, said the Royal Dutch Football ***** ociation (KNVB).
Koeman, 63, has stepped down from his second spell in charge of the national side and hinted that he may have ended his managerial career altogether.

There's growing alarm among European leaders over the flood of Chinese exports threatening their home-grown industries, and their response could resemble something from President Donald Trump's trade war.
Frustration is boiling over as China's goods trade surplus with the European Union hit 360.6 billion euros ($414 billion) in 2025, up 15% from 2024. And in the first four months of this year, the gap has expanded by 10%.
In fact, French President Emmanuel Macron even suggested a course of action that's straight out of Trump's own playbook.
"We must take protective measures, safeguard measures," he said last month, calling for "the European equivalent of Section 301."
Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 allows the U.S. to impose tariffs in response to unfair or discriminatory trade practices. After the Supreme Court struck down the global duties Trump levied last year under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, he plans to use Section 301 as the linchpin of his crackdown on trade deficits.

Paraguay scored early and then held on to beat Turkey 1-0 at the World Cup on Friday with 10 men after Miguel Almirón became the first player sent off at the tournament for covering his mouth in a confrontation.
Almirón got his marching orders in first half stoppage time after a video review revealed that he had violated new rules when he briefly covered his mouth while exchanging words with Turkey player Mert Müldür.
Urged by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, the rule was introduced recently to punish racist or other discriminatory incidents on the pitch after Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni covered his mouth with his shirt when he insulted Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior in a Champions League match in February.
Almirón had earlier set up Matias Galarza to score the only goal just over a minute into the match into the bottom corner.
Paraguay kept their knock-out rounds bid alive with a first victory after losing their opener against the United States and will play Australia for second place and an **** ured last-32 berth in the group finale next week.

A judge ruled Tuesday that transgender people won't face criminal charges for using Idaho public restrooms that match their gender identities.
The ruling from U.S. District Judge Amanda Brailsford puts on hold enforcement of key components of a law adopted in March — and set to take effect July 1 — that went further than laws in other states to restrict which bathrooms transgender people can use in public places, including privately owned places where restrooms are open to the public.
"This ruling will allow transgender people throughout Idaho to find and use a public restroom," Lambda Legal lawyer Kell Olson said in a statement Tuesday, "without the fear of arrest looming over them, while we continue the longer fight to permanently defeat this discriminatory law in court."
At least 19 states, including Idaho, have laws that limit which bathrooms transgender people can use in schools, or sometimes other public buildings.
The Idaho law, signed by Republican Gov. Brad Little in March, went further.

Fifa’s discrimination monitor at the World Cup has called for the removal of a video review official after he appeared to make a hand gesture resembling a white supremacist sign.
Shaun Evans, an Australian official, was seen making an “OK” symbol with his right hand in front of his right leg when the official broadcast of Germany's opening game against Curaçao on Sunday cut pre-game to show the team of video review ****** ysts.
Though the game was played in Houston, video officials work in Dallas at the World Cup broadcast centre. The gesture, with thumb and forefinger touched in a circle and other fingers outstretched, was designated a hate symbol by the New York-based Anti-Defamation League in 2019.
“Advice from our experts is that the gesture used clearly resembles an upside down ‘OK’ hand symbol used as a ‘white power’ symbol in global far-right circles,” the Fare network, a long-time partner of Fifa and European soccer body UEFA to monitor racist and discriminatory chants, flags and symbols at international games, said in a statement.
“Clearly this official should have no further role to play in this World Cup,” Fare said in a statement, describing the gesture as “neo-nazi.”

NEW YORK, June 15 (Reuters) - Big U.S. lenders are bracing for further public scrutiny over whether they improperly closed customer accounts as a top watchdog wraps up a review that is expected to name and shame banks and result in disciplinary action, said several people with knowledge of the matter.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is poised ‌to publish in coming weeks the findings of a supervisory review of whether lenders including JPMorgan and Bank of America cut off or denied services on religious or political grounds, often dubbed debanking. It has ‌also examined whether lenders denied services to legitimate, conservative-aligned sectors such as fossil-fuel companies, gun makers and crypto, the people said.
Debanking generally refers to the process whereby a financial institution suddenly cuts off or restricts services to individuals or businesses. Following Republican President Donald Trump's order last year, authorities have been cracking down on what Trump has characterized as politically motivated debanking pushed by Democrats, creating headaches for lenders, who deny the claims and say they have merely been following risk management rules.
Republicans have for years been ramping up pressure on Wall Street banks to drop what they describe as left-leaning "woke" policies that they say are discriminatory, and Trump says he has personally had accounts closed for such political reasons.

Iran’s plans for the World Cup are in disarray after claims that the national team will only be able to enter the United States on the day of their matches, with the host nation being accused of “discriminatory treatment” over visa denials.
Key members of Iran’s coaching staff have had their visas denied due to the country’s ongoing conflict with the US, with the country’s embassy in Turkey lambasting the US government for “the worst possible form of politically-biased interference in sport”.
“Why do you not say that visas were denied to a large portion of the managerial and executive staff, technical advisers, and others who are an integral part of any national football team?” the Iranian embassy posted on X, referring to an earlier announcement by the US envoy Tom Barrack that visas had been granted to players.
“You have now escalated the deliberate and discriminatory treatment against Iran’s national football team to its highest level.”
The US State Department claimed that the “visas necessary for Iran to compete in the World Cup” had been issued and ***** erted: “We will not allow the Iranian team to abuse this system to sneak terrorists into the United States under false pretences.”

Iran has accused the US of denying visas to "integral" members of its national football team's backroom staff, hours after Washington confirmed Iranian players had been given permission to travel to the upcoming World Cup.
US officials said visas had been issued to players and "necessary support staff" on Friday, 10 days before Iran's opening fixture in Los Angeles on 15 June.
It also said Iran would not be allowed to "abuse this system to sneak terrorists into the United States under false pretences".
Iran's embassy in Turkey accused the US of "politically biased interference in sport" by denying further visas to a "large portion of the managerial and executive staff" and "technical advisers".
A statement described the US announcement as a "whitewash", adding: "You have now escalated the deliberate and discriminatory treatment against Iran's national football team to its highest level."

WASHINGTON (AP) — For generations, the federal government enforced civil rights laws with an eye toward remedying historic, systemic discrimination against Black people and other people of color. The Department of Justice pressed schools to desegregate. The Department of Education worked to promote equal opportunity and held schools accountable for racial bias.
But under the Trump administration, efforts to address deep-rooted inequities for students of color are being cast as discriminatory against white students. Programs that have long withstood legal scrutiny are now quick to be deemed “ illegal DEI ” — diversity, equity and inclusion — by the White House. Schools that do not comply have faced threats to their funding, and in some cases, lost federal grants.
Civil rights lawyers describe the Republican administration’s actions as a complete inversion of legal history.
“It’s literally flipping the purpose of civil rights law on its head, not just harming Black students and students of color, but entire school communities,” said Michael Pillera, director of the Educational Opportunities Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. “It’s unmoored from the actual history of our country and untethered to the reality of life in this country.”
The administration has opened investigations or joined litigation over a wide range of efforts to address racial inequality. President Donald Trump's Justice Department is investigating programs to increase the number of teachers of color in Rhode Island and Iowa. Grants to districts to train teachers or recruit school mental health workers have been discontinued for mentions of diversity in recruitment.
