Shane Steichen was very pleased with what he saw from Daniel Jones during the Indianapolis Colts' first practice on Wednesday.
"I thought he looked really good," Steichen said after Day 1.
On Day 2 of training camp, Jones continued to build upon that initial performance.
Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan wrote that Jones was "very sharp" to begin Thursday's practice, starting the day 5-for-5. He was perfect during the 7-on-7 period as well.
Jake Arthur of Roundtable Sports noted that after Charvarius Ward and Sauce Gardner generated some pass breakups on Wednesday, Jones didn't shy away from either defender on Day 2, and completed "successful 10-plus-yard dig routes."

The 2026 SEC media days have come and gone this week in Tampa, Florida, and that means we're one step closer to the college football regular season.
As per usual, the SEC released the Preseason Media Poll All-SEC team on Friday, which was voted on by the media that was on hand covering this week's event. After the Oklahoma Sooners had just three players make the all-league predictions a year ago, OU was much more well-represented in 2026.
On the first team, both kicker Tate Sandell and long snapper Ben Anderson represented the Sooners. Sandell returned after winning the Lou Groza Award last season, while Anderson has established himself as one of the league's best long snappers over the course of his career.
OU had eight players selected to the second team. Wide receiver Isaiah Sategna III, offensive lineman Michael Fasusi, defensive linemen David Stone and Taylor Wein, linebacker Kip Lewis, defensive backs Eli Bowen and Peyton Bowen, and kicker/punter Grayson Miller all got the nod.
Sategna returns as OU's top wide receiver after showing off his explosiveness last year. Fasusi had an impressive true freshman season in Norman, establishing himself as Oklahoma's starting left tackle. Stone and Wein were breakout stars for the Sooners last year on the front line of the defense. Lewis continues to be OU's emotional leader on defense and is the longest-tenured Sooner. The Bowen brothers are back for another year patrolling the Oklahoma secondary, and Miller returns after becoming OU's starter at punter early last season. He put together an impressive year in 2025.

Georgia Bulldogs running back Dante Dowdell was hospitalized after he was in an ATV accident this offseason. Dowdell's recovery is expected to take a significant period of time after he suffered "some serious injuries" in the accident.
Dowdell had a promising spring and was expected to be one of Georgia's top running backs this fall. Dowdell started his college football career at Oregon, transferred to Nebraska and then transferred to Kentucky. Last season, he posted 560 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound running back was expected to take over Josh McCray's role at a minimum.
With Dowdell's status in doubt, let's take a look at the rest of Georgia's running back room. The Bulldogs return starting running back Nate Frazier along with Chauncey Bowens, who logged a few starts in 2025. Behind those two, Dwight Phillips and Bo Walker should see more action if Dowdell misses extended time.

The Oklahoma Sooners enter the 2026 season with one of the most talented cornerback duos in college football. Junior Eli Bowen and sophomore Courtland Guillory both earned freshman All-American honors during their first seasons in Norman.
Guillory emerged as a key contributor last season, earning a starting role early in the year while Bowen missed time due to an injury. However, when Bowen returned, it wasn't Guillory's job he took; instead, it was on the opposite side. That was a testament to how impressive the former three-star prospect had been throughout the season.
Guillory finished the year with 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, and seven pass deflections. His performance led On3's J.D. PicKell to suggest Guillory could enter 2026 as the best defensive back in the SEC.
"The one underclassman they're going to play is Courtland Guillory, sophomore corner," PicKell said. "I've said it before, he might be the best DB in the SEC, period. Now, he has to play that way, but I have no reservations about leaving No. 4 out there on an island and letting him do his thing."
Guillory has already shown he belongs among the best young defensive backs in college football, but 2026 will provide his biggest test yet. Playing in the SEC means facing some of the best receivers in the country every week, and Guillory will have plenty of opportunities to prove that PicKell's high praise is justified.

Pierce appeared in the 'receiving votes' category, meaning that of the 70 voters who put their top 10 lists together, at least one had him in the top 10.
The 2025 season was Pierce's most productive in the NFL. He surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and again led the league in average yards per catch at 21.3. He also had six touchdown catches.

FuboTV (NYSE: FUBO) shares climbed about 11% after the company appointed former Disney+ president Alisa Bowen as its new chief executive officer, replacing co-founder David Gandler.
The company announced that Bowen ******* umed the role on July 10, bringing nearly three decades of experience across media, digital products and operations.
She spent almost 10 years at The Walt Disney Company, where she most recently served as president of Disney+ and helped lead the expansion of Disney's streaming businesses, including Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.
Before joining Disney, Bowen held leadership roles at News Corporation, Dow Jones and Thomson Reuters.
Fubo chairman Andy Bird said that Bowen's appointment comes at a key point for the company following its combination with Hulu + Live TV last year. He highlighted her experience building streaming platforms and driving subscriber growth and profitability.

In part, the Colts weren't positioned well to make these rankings, with CJ Allen and Bryce Boettcher both being rookies, although that underscores the inexperience that Indianapolis will be relying on.

The season gets closer and closer every day, and for Notre Dame, the biggest question is how far of a run can it make in the College Football Playoff.
Most believe that the Irish will make the 12-team field, but not everyone is the bullish on them. 247Sports Brad Crawford does, as he has ranked teams in tiers: clear frontrunners, program leadership should prevail, rosters worth a second look, schedule ******* istance looms large and dark horses with Notre Dame being in the first tier.
Along with Ohio State, Oregon, Miami and Georgia, the Irish are one of five teams that Crawford believes have a great chance to win the CFP. The teams in tier two, Indiana and Texas, should be viewed as contenders as well, so in reality, he’s got seven teams that could hoist up the CFP trophy at the end of the season.
The good news is that there aren’t many major questions surrounding the Irish, as they’ll return quarterback CJ Carr along with an elite defense headlined by safety Tae Johnson and linebacker Drayk Bowen. The biggest unknown is which offensive skill position players will step up, but there is no doubting the talent at wide receiver or running back. Notre Dame has recruited and worked the portal very well over the last few years, with this potentially being the most talented team in many years.
It’s been almost 40-years since the Irish have won a ******* le, as it’s long overdue for Notre Dame to sit atop of the college football world.

Since arriving in Jacksonville, Oluokun has provided a stable presence at linebacker. He's been extremely durable, playing over 1,100 snaps in three of the last four seasons, and a very reliable tackler throughout his career. He's also shown the ability to get after the quarterback as a blitzer.

Can Daniel Jones replicate last season's early success?

It’s pretty safe to say that there are more than a few elite athletes in the Bowen family, as Drayk currently stars for Notre Dame football and now Dylan will be a professional baseball player.
The younger Bowen flirted with the Irish before committing to play at Oklahoma State, but he was taken with the No. 154 overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds in the MLB draft on Sunday. As a fifth-rounder, he could opt to play for the Cowboys, so that is something to monitor as he has just over two weeks to make a decision.
Baseball runs deep with the Bowen’s, as Drayk also played for Notre Dame early in his career before putting his full focus on football. The Irish had a first-round pick in pitcher Jack Radel this year, and catcher Mark Quatrani was taken in round No. 18 by the San Diego Padres. Hopefully the star catcher opts to return for another season, as he still has a season left and could get taken higher next year.
The Bowen family has to be proud of their son’s accomplishments, as each of them have become top-level athletes.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Manny Machado singled in the tying run in the eighth inning and Ty France's sacrifice brought in the go-ahead run for the San Diego Padres, who beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Sunday to take two of three.
The Padres won for just the fifth time in 16 games and pulled back to .500 at 48-48.
The defending American League champion Blue Jays head into the All-Star break at 45-51.
Machado's third single brought in Xander Bogaerts, who hit a leadoff single against Jeff Hoffman (5-6) and stole second. Machado advanced on Gavin Sheets' groundout and was replaced by Jase Bowen, who stole third and scored on France's sac fly.
Mason Miller, San Diego's only All-Star, retired the side in the ninth on eight pitches for his 25th save.

With the first four rounds complete, the focus of the 2026 MLB Draft now shifts to Day 2, where teams will look to uncover hidden gems and complete their draft classes during Rounds 5-20 on Sunday as part of MLB All-Star Week in Philadelphia.
While the opening day featured expected selections at the top including shortstop Roch Cholowsky to the Chicago White Sox, Grady Emerson to the Tampa Bay Rays and Vahn Lackey to the Minnesota Twins plenty of highly regarded prospects remain available entering Sunday's action.
One of the biggest names still on the board is California high school shortstop Archer Horn. Ranked No. 54 on MLB Pipeline's Top 250 list, Horn possesses impressive bat speed, a strong throwing arm capable of reaching 95 mph off the mound and developing power potential from the left side. Although questions remain about whether he will stay at shortstop long term, his overall athletic ability makes him one of the top remaining prospects. Horn is committed to Stanford.
Another intriguing player is Blake Bowen of JSerra Catholic High School in California. The 6-foot-3 outfielder boasts plus-plus raw power along with above-average speed and arm strength, giving him the tools to become an impact player. His swing-and-miss tendencies have caused some teams to hesitate, but his upside remains among the highest still available. Bowen is committed to Oregon State.

About to enter his ninth NFL season, Nelson continues to play at an extremely high level. Among all guards this season, Nelson ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus' pass-blocking efficiency and fourth in run-blocking grade.
He is an eight-time Pro Bowler and has made six All-Pro teams in his career.
"Some drop-off but still elite," an NFC executive told Fowler. "[He] was No. 1 for a long time, but the Smiths (Tyler and Trey) and [Quinn] Meinerz are on his heels."

The Cubs finished up the first day of the MLB Draft by selecting Northwestern State (LA) right-handed pitcher Dylan Marionneaux win the fourth round. The junior right-hander went 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 14 starts with the Demons of the Southland Conference. He struck out 81 and walked 18 in 84.2 innings. Marionneaux was named to the first-team Southland Conference All-Conference team this year. He had committed to transferring to Alabama for his senior season before the Cubs drafted him. That’s about all I know about him.
So this one is a head-scratcher, although the Cubs almost certainly drafted Marionneaux because he’s willing to sign for a below-slot bonus that would allow the Cubs to give an big above-slot bonus to one of many high school players still on board for Sunday. Marionneaux is not listed on any of the published lists of draft prospects, and Baseball America covers the top 500 prospects.
Even if Marionneaux is a “signability” pick for another, better player later on, there must have been something that they liked about him anyways. Certainly his control numbers look good. And sometimes these signability players end up surprising everyone. Riley Martin was a fifth-year senior the Cubs drafted out Quincy University in 2021 who signed for $1000. But before he got hurt, Martin was looking like he was going to be an important part of the Cubs bullpen this year.
Last year’s third-round pick, Dominick Reid, and their fifth-round pick, Kade Snell, weren’t quite so out of the blue as Marionneaux is, but they were below slot picks that allowed them to draft high schoolers Kaleb Wing and Josiah Hartshorn, who are now two of the Cubs top propsects.
If you’re looking at high school players still on the board in the fifth round, there’s right-hander Joseph Contreras, son of former All-Star pitcher José Contreras, two-way player Archer Horn, right-hander Savion Sims, outfielder Blake Bowen and others.

Blake Bowen suddenly found himself thrust into a spotlight in his senior season at JSerra Catholic High School and he's made the most of it.
Originally a two-sport athlete playing both baseball and football at Riverside King High School, Bowen transferred to JSerra in 2023 and made baseball his focus, but the athleticism that made him stand out on the gridiron transferred just as well to the diamond.
"He's the best athlete I've ever coached," JSerra head coach Brett Kay said of Bowen. "You could see what he's capable of, and the things that he does are pretty special on the field and he's got a chance to be a high draft pick."
Kay knows a thing or two about coaching high level athletes, with players like Royce Lewis and Austin Hedges having been past pupils of his, but just one look at Bowen explains Kay's strong stance.
Bowen is 6'3 and 225 pounds with strength and speed in spades that made him one of the top power hitters in California high school baseball.

The Utah Men’s State Amateur is usually dominated by collegiate golfers. After Thursday’s two rounds of matches, seven collegians have advanced to Friday’s quarterfinals.
It was almost an all-collegiate golfer quarterfinal until Cameron Crawford came from behind to defeat BYU golfer Angus Klintworth on the 19th hole of their match. Crawford played college golf 16 years ago for Dixie State College and is the “old man” of the bunch at age 38.
Leading the way Thursday was defending champion and Arizona State golfer Bowen Mauss, who swept past Brock Sivulich 6 and 5 in the morning round before defeating Aidan Thain 3 and 2 in the afternoon.
He’ll face Layton’s David Liechty, who is transferring from Utah Tech to BYU for the coming season.
Liechty burst onto the local scene three years ago when he made it to the State Am finals. He showed his match play skills again last year when he made it to the semifinals and also qualified for match play at the U.S. Amateur.

Likely impacting Walker's standing in these rankings was that he navigated injuries and missed time in 2025, which impacted his overall production.

The Oklahoma Sooners enter the upcoming season with significant momentum after reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in six years and making their first appearance as SEC members.
Oklahoma also returns a strong core of contributors from that playoff roster, including quarterback John Mateer, wide receiver Isaiah Sategna, linebackers Owen Heinecke and Kip Lewis, defensive linemen Taylor Wein, David Stone and Jayden Jackson, and defensive backs Peyton and Eli Bowen.
This has all the makings to be the most talented team in the Brent Venables era. However, a schedule ranked among the most difficult in the country has national ****** ysts split on Oklahoma's ceiling and floor this season.
Chris Phillips from "SEC Unfiltered" laid out what he thinks is the best-case scenario for Oklahoma.
"Best case scenario, I got 10-2," Phillips said. "I think 10-2 best case."

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Dwight McNeil as the club look to rebuild in the Championship next season.
McNeil is expected to leave Everton this summer after the collapse of a January move to Crystal Palace. The 26-year-old's deal is due to expire in 2027 and the Toffees are set to move McNeil on in the current window.
West Ham are seeking a winger amid doubts over Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville, who have both been linked with transfers away from the London Stadium, following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham are interested in McNeil. No official approach has yet been made and any pursuit will wait until West Ham's new director of player recruitment, Nils Koppen, has had an opportunity to discuss recruitment with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Koppen was this week appointed from FC Copenhagen to oversee transfers.

The Philadelphia Flyers tendering a five-year, $90 million offer sheet to the Anaheim Ducks‘ Leo Carlsson was expected to have a massive ripple effect on the future contracts for some of the NHL’s top stars. With Chicago Blackhawks‘ center Connor Bedard eligible for an extension, it appears we know what the price tag might be to sign him.
According to TheFourthPeriod‘s Irfaan Gaffar, Bedard is seeking an extension worth around $17 million per season, in the range of what Kirill Kaprizov signed with the Minnesota Wild.

CHICAGO — Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Bowen Byram has agreed to a 6-year, $75 million extension with his new team.
The deal was announced Wednesday, the first day that Byram was eligible to sign an extension. It runs through the 2032-33 season.
The 25-year-old Byram was acquired in a trade with Buffalo on June 23. The Blackhawks sent the No. 4 and No. 45 selections in the NHL draft and defenseman Louis Crevier to the Sabres for Byram and forward Jordan Greenway.
It has been a very busy summer for Byram, who got married last weekend in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Last night's game at Wrigley Field had an air of playoff baseball from the early innings. Perhaps it was a throwback to the last time the San Diego Padres played at Wrigley Field during the Wild Card round in 2025. Or maybe it was that both the Cubs and the Padres find themselves squarely in the Wild Card hunt, more games than they'd like behind their respective division leaders, but still solidly over .500 as the calendar flips to July. It was probably amplified by the wind blowing out and one of the first truly hot days of summer. Every pitch felt like it could travel over the wall and break the game wide open.
But of course, that's not how it went down. On a night that felt like it was destined for a high scoring affair, the Cubs and Padres battled to a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Padres tried to eke a bit more out of Jason Adam , letting him face a red hot Pete Crow-Armstrong who hit a flare of a single to left field. Then they brought in Mason Miller : their closer who throws well over 100 miles per hour, striking out more than 50 percent of the batters he's faced in 2026 and just generally setting the standard for relief pitchers. Seiya Suzuki sent the crowd at Wrigley Field into a frenzy as he hit a towering fly ball off the ivy, just out of the grasp of leftfielder Jase Bowen.
It was the Cubs' 10th walkoff victory of the season. Despite the injury woes and staring down a superior Padres bullpen, the 2026 Cubs found a way. The win took them to 47-38 on the season, keeping pace in the division, 5.5 games back of the Brewers . That 10th walkoff win is the most the Cubs have had in a season since 13 walkoffs in 2015:

Jase Bowen was the hero of the game for the San Diego Padres in their series opening game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Monday night – until he wasn't. Bowen made a catch in shallow left field on a fly ball by Michael Busch with no outs and the bases loaded. After making the catch, Bowen made a one-hop throw to Freddy Fermin at the plate who applied the tag to complete the double-play and keep the score tied at 2-2. Seiya Suzuki followed with a ball into the left-field ivy covered wall that was just beyond the reach of Bowen which allowed Pete Crow-Armstrong to score to hand the Padres a 3-2 walk-off loss.
The irony of the situation was that San Diego manager Craig Stammen called on closer Mason Miller after Jason Adam allowed two runners to reach base in the bottom of the ninth inning. Miller was the best chance for the Padres to get swing-and-miss at-bats and hopefully empty outs from the Cubs. However, each of the Chicago hitters who faced the right-hander was able to put the ball in play.
San Diego had its chances to add to its two-run total, but instead the Padres turned in a 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position effort. The lack of runs scored resulted in a no decision for Griffin Canning who had his best start for San Diego in recent memory completing 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
The Padres will try to even the series with a win against the Cubs today at 5:05 p.m.
