A Colorado elementary school teacher was found dead inside her home, and investigators said evidence at the home raised questions about her husband's account of what happened.
Patrick Theodore "Ted" Barnett, 40, was arrested in the death of his wife, 37-year-old Lindsey Barnett, and is being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree murder, Lakewood police said.
An arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital revealed new details about the investigation and what detectives said led them to suspect Barnett in his wife's death.
Barnett called 911 shortly after 6 a.m. on Aug. 13, 2026 and said Lindsey had cut herself and her throat and was not breathing, according to the affidavit. He sounded frantic and told dispatchers their two young children, a toddler and an infant, were inside the Lakewood home.

Miami running back Jordan Lyle was estimated to be driving 130 mph while attempting to flee a traffic stop in South Florida last month, according to a probable cause affidavit released on Tuesday, via the Miami Herald.
Lyle was arrested last week on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement, each of which are felony complaints in Florida. He is also facing a misdemeanor complaint of reckless driving.
He turned himself into the Sunrise Police Department on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued. He was then released on bond that same day.
According to the report, Lyle was spotted driving north on the Sawgrass Expressway shortly after 7 p.m. on July 10 and was clocked by an officer driving 92 mph. The speed limit in the area is just 65 mph. When the officer tried to pull Lyle over, Lyle allegedly sped up and got to as fast as 130 mph while making "rapid, abrupt and unsafe lane changes to maneuver between vehicles." At one point, Lyle allegedly made a U-turn from a through lane after exiting the expressway.
Eventually, the officer turned off his lights and sirens and let him go to avoid further danger. An investigation later determined that the car was registered to Lyle, and it was linked to him via his parents' home surveillance system. Police spoke to Lyle via FaceTime on July 15, and he arrived at the police department with a lawyer to give a sworn statement later that day.

Former Fox Sports and ESPN host Marcellus Wiley has been released from Orange County Jail after posting a $1,000 bond, according to a report by Mike Florio in Pro Football Talk. The former NFL defensive end was arrested on Saturday after police responded to an alleged domestic battery incident.
Florio reports, per details obtained from the Arrest Affidavit, that the incident occurred at the World Marriott in Orlando on Saturday afternoon, and the alleged victim was Wiley’s wife. Wiley’s wife asked officers to “remove her husband from their shared hotel room due to her being afraid of him,” saying that Wiley “told [her] he was going to kill her and [she] was afraid of his behavior.”
Asked to elaborate by the officers, Wiley’s wife said “on the previous morning Marcellus had put his hands on her,” by using “one finger to sternly and intentionally poke her in the cheek.”
The affidavit noted Wiley’s wife displayed no “visible injuries” and that she did not request medical attention. However, she did say that Wiley “had an unreported history of violence toward her and she was planning to divorce him when they returned home to California.”
Per Florio, “Wiley denied any physical altercation with his wife,” and claimed she made the report because she intended to divorce him.

With an injunction hearing coming up Wednesday, the NCAA has filed a response in an eligibility lawsuit regarding the age-based eligibility model. It also includes an affidavit from the commissioners of the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 and Big East conferences.
The suit was filed in Ohio after the NCAA unanimously approved the age-based eligibility model. Xavier’s Filip Borovicanin and Cincinnati’s MJ Collins are among the 15 athletes listed as plaintiffs. A judge denied a request for a temporary restraining order, but set a hearing for a preliminary injunction for July 1.
[ $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage ]
Ahead of the hearing, the NCAA filed its response, and the conference commissioners defended the decision not to “grandfather” athletes who would have another year under the age-based model. They cited the need to protect incoming athletes and their roster spots in their decision.
“The downstream effects of granting an additional year of eligibility would, without question, harm college sports across the country,” the affidavit reads, in part. “If a court were to allow Plaintiffs and similarly situated student-athletes to compete during the 2026-27 academic year, immediate and significant uncertainty in the collegiate athletic landscape necessarily follows.

An Indiana man was charged Wednesday on accusations he stalked WNBA player Sophie Cunningham and sent her threatening and explicit messages on social media.
Kevin Singh, 48, faces felony charges for stalking and intimidation, as well as a misdemeanor harassment charge. He was arrested Tuesday, according to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Cunningham, a player with the Indiana Fever, told investigators she had been staying at home more and having nightmares because of Singh’s continued messages, according to the affidavit. She was first made aware of Singh’s alleged online conduct in February, she said.
Singh's online behavior escalated that month and his conduct “became increasingly threatening after he was contacted by team security," the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.
According to an affidavit, Singh allegedly sent numerous messages — including explicit messages — on the social media platform X in April. One of the messages featured the text, “You're literally down the street from me!” After Cunnigham's team sent Singh a cease-and-desist letter on April 30, Singh sent more messages on X, making explicit and threatening comments, according to the affidavit.

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been charged with stalking Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday. This is the second time in the last year that a man has been charged with stalking a Fever player.
Kevin Singh, 49, was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a news release. Singh allegedly sent Cunningham “multiple threatening and explicit messages,” according to the release. Several of those messages included ***** ual references, per the probable cause affidavit. Singh also said he was “going to marry” Cunningham and shared his phone number.
“The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass and intimidate others. Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement. “Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person’s position or public profile. The victim is setting an example by speaking out. No one should have to endure harassment, intimidation or threats of violence, and every person deserves to feel safe in their workplace and throughout our community.”
Singh was formally charged with stalking, intimidation and harassment. The stalking and intimidation charges are Level 6 felonies, and the harassment charge is a Class B misdemeanor. A Level 6 felony conviction can result in an imprisonment term between six months and 2 1/2 years, per Indiana law. It can also include a fine of up to $10,000. A Class B misdemeanor conviction can result in imprisonment for up to 180 days and a $1,000 fine.
The Athletic attempted to reach Singh for comment and will update this story if he responds.

Bode Miller, a six-time Olympic medalist and one of the most decorated American Alpine skiers, said he expects to be cleared of two misdemeanor drug charges filed against him this month in Idaho, disputing the account in a sheriff's affidavit.
Miller, 48, was arrested June 6 in Fremont County on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to records obtained by ABC News.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account, Miller said he was pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on an Idaho highway. He said a friend traveling with him had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe that Miller was not aware of.
"We fully cooperated with the officer," Miller said. "I am hopeful the misdemeanor charges will be dropped once the facts are reviewed."
His account differs from the probable cause affidavit. A Fremont County Sheriff's deputy wrote that Miller had a white dispensary bag containing 4.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and knew the mushrooms were illegal, KTVB reported. The affidavit was filed June 9 in Fremont County Magistrate Court.

Cooper was held on suspicion of criminal mischief with a domestic violence enhancer. His girlfriend was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and petty criminal mischief.
