There’s no debate that the number one NBA free agent this summer is none other than LeBron James. James is coming off an eight-year tenure with Los Angeles, the longest he has spent with any team in his career, where he saw plenty of success. During his time with the Lakers, LeBron won an NBA Championship and an NBA Cup while earning multiple All-Star and All-NBA selections. At 41 years old, LeBron is likely heading into the final season of his career. Two teams stand out as the top contenders for his services: his former team, the Miami Heat, and the Golden State Warriors.

The Heat were recently involved in a blockbuster deal that brought in superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. In the process, they gave up future picks, Tyler Herro, and much of their guard depth, leaving Miami without a true playmaker.
Initially, the Heat looked like they lost the trade, with Bam Adebayo and Giannis as the only clear standout players. As Lebron has aged, his playmaking has become arguably his greatest strength, and he could completely change the outlook of this team. A return to Miami would instantly put the Heat among the NBA’s best teams.
The idea of Lebron heading to Golden State has been discussed for years, pairing him with Stephen Curry in one final push for a championship.
