WASHINGTON, Aug 25 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump has sent Congress a proposed agreement with Saudi Arabia on civil nuclear energy while insisting the pact will only go into effect if the kingdom normalizes relations with Israel, a U.S. administration official told Reuters on Tuesday.
The agreement, which was reached in July and would allow U.S. companies to export civilian nuclear technology to the kingdom, was sent to Congress on Monday, according to the U.S. official, who declined to be identified.
The Saudi embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It was not clear how Trump expects sending the nuclear deal to Congress, which has 90 session days to consider it, will advance his objectives.

Last month, MP Materials (NYSE: MP) signed an agreement to supply gadolinium oxide (a key rare-earth material found in nuclear reactor shielding on submarines and infrared sensors and electronics) to an unnamed U.S. aerospace and defense manufacturer. Management expects the contract to be worth nine figures over multiple years, with MP developing the additional separation capacity at its Mountain Pass facility in California.
Now, the company hasn't disclosed the customer or the specific size of the contract, but management described the deal as significant. And while I'm not typically keen on ambiguity, the announcement of this deal does provide some interesting intel about demand.

TerraPower CEO Chris Levesque said that hyperscalers are driving demand for nuclear power companies, as his company is set to announce a deal with a data center customer for a new nuclear power plant this year. Levesque, who was joined by Bloomberg News energy reporter Will Wade, also said that TerraPower is aiming to get construction time and consumer costs lower so that nuclear can become a larger energy source for the US.

American Resources Corp (NASDAQ:AREC)'s ReElement Technologies Corporation has hired seven professionals to strengthen operational leadership at its Marion, Indiana rare earth and critical mineral refining campus.
The additions bring experience from the US Navy, large-scale continuous-process manufacturing, mining and process engineering, chemical engineering research, manufacturing workforce development and international commercial markets, the company said.

LSU men's basketball got a boost to its 2026-27 roster. A Louisiana judge granted RJ Luis a preliminary injunction in his lawsuit against the NCAA on Monday. The decision will allow him to play for head coach Will Wade this year.
A former guard at St. John's under Rick Pitino, Luis won the Big East Player of the Year award in 2025 and earned second-team All-American status. He went undrafted in that year's NBA Draft, then signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz.
Luis never played in the G League before getting traded to the Boston Celtics. He played in three NBA preseason games, logging seven minutes and six points before being waived due to an injury. Now, it appears he'll rejoin the college ranks and don the purple and gold.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Cincinnati Reds infielder/outfielder Michael Toglia will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday on his right shoulder after he was injured Friday making a diving catch against Arizona.
Manager Terry Francona made the announcement Monday before the opener of a three-game series at San Francisco. Team orthopedist Dr. Tim Kremchek will perform the surgery to repair a torn labrum and Toglia will do his rehabilitation in San Diego to be close to family, Francona said.
The switch-hitting Toglia suffered a dislocated shoulder on the play in the first inning of the 9-0 loss at Chase Field when, playing left field, he caught the ball by Geraldo Perdomo.
"That kid, he swore he was going to play. I saw him in the training room the next day, he was trying to do stuff," Francona said. "That's pretty amazing to me."
Toglia was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, a move retroactive to Saturday. The 28-year-old Toglia batted .115 with an RBI over 10 games with eight starts. He was a top prospect with Colorado after the Rockies selected him 23rd overall in the first round of the 2019 draft out of UCLA.

The results showed that patients who took the combined treatment saw significant benefits compared to those who just took Keytruda, with the return and spread of cancer both being diminished among the cohort.
Tempus stock soared following the announcement, largely due to its pending acquisition of Personalis -- the company that developed the genomic tumor-profiling technology that was central to the development of Merck and Moderna's cancer vaccines. At the dawn of another Ligue 1 season, the divide between PSG and the rest has never been so wide. Les Parisiens, in the wake of their maiden Champions League triumph, weren't expected to be challenged. Lens, in that sense, surprised many. Another challenge, either from Les Sang et Or or from elsewhere, would be welcomed but does not necessarily look forthcoming; the perception of PSG's invincibility has only been enhanced by their second consecutive UCL ******* le.
Already the best side in the division, the best in Europe, the best team in French football history, PSG exist on an entirely different plane. They have the best starting XI in world football, and their transfer business attests to that, with the second string now the subject of Luís Campos' attention. The likes of Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche, and Mika Godts look to be upgrades on Goncalo Ramos, Lee Kang-in, and Randal Kolo Muani. These are the types of players that will be regularly trotted out in Ligue 1, allowing the likes of Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, etc., to save their best performances for those nights under the lights in the UCL.
All the while, the rest of Ligue 1 has, by and large, regressed. Marseille – at the time of writing – have yet to register a single recruit. Hamstrung by restrictions imposed by the DNCG and UEFA, they have been in fire-sale mode. They are guaranteed to begin the season weaker than they ended the last, regardless of what happens in the closing days of the transfer window.
They aren't the only ones. Lens have an Icarus-like quality to them, having run PSG close for the ******* le and won their maiden Coupe de France ******* le. A little too close to the sun, a little too much success, and they have come crashing down. USC has Notre Dame and UCLA as main rivals, but ESPN had a different idea. When creating a list of arch-enemies for various power conference teams in college football, ESPN came up with an answer which is not a school, but an organization: the NCAA. A lot of Trojan fans would nod in agreement.

Uggetti's point rings true. The violations USC was punished for look like nickel-and-dime matters of very little weight and consequence all these years later. That point aside, enforcement of violations was hardly consistent across all schools. Penn State, for instance, committed wrongdoings which far exceeded USC's in severity (the Jerry Sandusky scandal) but was not punished more severely. That's just one of several examples one could come up with.

On August 13, Brookfield (NYSE:BN) held its second-quarter earnings call, and the story management told was less about property spreadsheets and more about power lines and reactors. Distributable earnings before realizations climbed 15% year over year to $1.4 billion for the quarter, and executives spent much of the call explaining how a $100 billion Kentucky data center project and a nuclear buildout fit into that growth.
Brookfield's pitch centers on a gap between AI's appetite for electricity and the grid's ability to supply it. CEO Bruce Flatt described a $100 billion partnership with the US Department of Energy to build an AI campus in Kentucky on federally owned land, a deal he said requires few approvals because of that federal ownership. Alongside that, the Department of Energy committed a further $17.5 billion to Brookfield and its utility partners to acquire long lead time items for Westinghouse's reactor pipeline, which the company says is now under construction on 14 reactors with visibility into 40 more and another 100 beyond that.
The ****** et management engine backing these bets had its own strong quarter. Fundraising hit a record $77 billion, pushing fee-bearing capital up 19% to $672 billion and fee-related earnings up 20% from a year earlier. The Oaktree acquisition closed in July, and Wealth Solutions distributable earnings rose 23% year over year to $480 million as the newly acquired Just Group added $45 billion of insurance ****** ets. LSU men's basketball made an addition to its roster on Friday. According to a report from On3, Donovan Dent committed to the Tigers. The former UCLA guard was one of 73 players in California granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA, allowing him to play for a fifth year.
The addition is arguably the biggest since head coach Will Wade came to Baton Rouge. Dent fills an immediate need at the starting point guard spot for the upcoming season. He averaged 13.3 points and 7.6 ******* ists last year, his only one with the Bruins.
Dent played his first three seasons of college basketball at New Mexico. He filled a critical reserve role as a true freshman before becoming a full-time starter. Over his four seasons, he averages 13.4 points per game on 48% shooting from the field and 33% from three-point range.

UCLA Bruins' quarterback Nico Iamaleava possesses an elite combination of size and speed. Even if Iamaleava isn't the most built-out 6'5", his height allows him to see over defenders and his own offensive line.
That skillset is valuable in the college game but becomes even more important at the next level. The 2026 season will determine what the future holds for Iamaleava. With a strong season under Bob Chesney, Iamaleava could wind up hearing his name early in the 2027 NFL Draft.

After spending his first four seasons with the Denver Nuggets, Peyton Watson was traded earlier this week to the Cleveland Cavaliers, with Watson, the former UCLA Bruin, signing a long-term deal with the Cavaliers to lock the 23-year old guard up long-term.
Watson and Cleveland agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth $88 million, teaming Watson up with a Cavaliers team that's on the precipice of making some serious noise in the Eastern Conference. Denver won an NBA **** le in Watson's rookie season and have been chasing those heights ever since but just how close were the Nuggets and Watson to penning a long-term extension.
The USA TODAY reported earlier this month that the Nuggets offered Watson a four-year $70 million deal, meaning that the move to the Cavaliers was worth an extra $18 million for Watson.
NBA insider Marc Stein was early on the wave of Watson to Cleveland, discussing a potential trade weeks before the eventual move took place.
"League sources say Cleveland has been exploring various trade possibilities with both [Dennis] Schröder and [Max] Strus that would enable the Cavaliers — provided one or both of those salaries could be shed — to make a representative four-year offer to Peyton Watson," Stein said. "Schröder is scheduled to earn $14.8 million in 2026-27 and $15.5 million in 2027-28 ... with only $4.4 million guaranteed in the latter season. According to court documents from the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, all Class of 2022 athletes from the state of Colorado ruling, except for those who have their own temporary restraining order or injunction until further state court order, are now ineligible after the NCAA stay was granted in the Ohio case.
That includes Gonzaga point guard Javon Bennett with the injunction now pending. He can attempt to join an existing state lawsuit or file a separate lawsuit, but there's no guarantee a judge will allow that.
The Zags technically have four open roster spots with all this fifth-year college eligibility nonsense going on in college athletics. They still await the outcome for point guard Nathan De Sousa of France's Cholet Basket and power forward/center Izan Almansa of Spain's Real Madrid.

On August 11, Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH) reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 results that on the surface look almost too good to be true. Non-GAAP diluted EPS jumped 40% year over year to $2.91, and full-year adjusted free cash flow hit $5 billion. But a large piece of that quarterly jump came from a one-time tariff refund, and the company's own guidance for the year ahead points to a much more normal pace of growth. That gap between the headline number and what's actually repeatable is where this story gets interesting.
Cardinal Health's fiscal 2026 was broad, not lucky. Operational growth was broad-based across segments, with fourth-quarter total revenue reaching $63.7 billion (up 6% year over year) driven by solid demand in Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions. Non-GAAP earnings per share have more than doubled since fiscal 2022, from $5.07 to $11.26, and adjusted free cash flow grew from $2.3 billion to $5 billion over that same four-year stretch, funding $7 billion returned to shareholders.
Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions did the heavy lifting again in the fourth quarter, with revenue up 6% to $58.8 billion and segment profit up 21% to $645 million on strength in both brand and Specialty. BioPharma Solutions landed two additional gene therapy 3PL commercialization agreements, with Cardinal Health now exclusively servicing nearly half the cell and gene therapy market and supporting approximately three-fourths of the total market overall. The smaller growth businesses continue to compound rapidly: Nuclear PET and Theranostics revenue grew 20% and 30% respectively in the fourth quarter, while at-Home Solutions posted a 99% total fill rate with its best quarter ever for on-time departures. The board also just authorized a $5 billion increase to the buyback program, pushing total authorization to $6.4 billion, and locked in a long-term Kroger contract extension along with a renewal of its largest medical products customer.
Look closer at that 40% EPS jump, though, and a chunk of it isn't repeatable. About $0.31 of the $2.91 in quarterly diluted earnings per share, roughly 15 percentage points of the 40% growth, came from a one-time $100 million net benefit tied to IEEPA tariff refunds landing in the Global Medical Products and Distribution segment. Strip that out and GMPD's fourth-quarter profit was just $50 million, and the company says it continues to incur ongoing costs from the tariffs that replaced IEEPA. Reported GMPD revenue actually fell 2% for the quarter.

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing is still working to return to the field, and despite early pessimism about his return behind the plate, he is set to start throwing progression.
Rushing has a slight tear in his UCL, leaving him unable to perform one of the key duties as a catcher: throwing the ball back to a pitcher and trying to pick off any steal attempts.
Initially, Dave Roberts said that Rushing was unlikely to play catcher for the Dodgers this year, and if he returned, it would be as a pinch hitter, giving them a slugging lefty off the bench.
"I would say it's very small. I hope I'm wrong," Roberts said a few weeks ago. "He's a tough kid, and so for him to go through this speaks a lot. … Certainly a possibility with the time, but we're certainly trying to keep the bat alive for sure."

After spending his first four NBA seasons with the Denver Nuggets, former UCLA Bruin Peyton Watson will switch teams for the first time in the NBA. On Wednesday, the Nuggets sent Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for a 2031 first round pick and a 2032 second round pick. In the deal, the Cavaliers sent out guard Max Strus to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The move doesn't come out of thin air, as Watson and the Nuggets were locked in contract negotiations all summer long. Cleveland made the trade and immediately extended Watson on a four-year $88 million extension that will keep Watson in Cleveland for the rest of the decade.
Watson won an NBA ****** le in his rookie season with Denver, with the Los Angeles native playing alongside MVP Nikola Jokic to begin his NBA career. Now he'll be joining a Cleveland team that's desperate to take the next step after consecutive deflating playoff losses.
In Cleveland, Watson will be joining All-Stars Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. The defense of a Watson-Mobly-Allen lineup would be incredible but the Cavaliers will be hoping for Watson to keep knocking down his jumpers. Watson played in just 54 games last season but shot an impressive 41% from deep on 3.6 attempts from three per game.
Before his NBA days, Watson played one season with the Bruins. During the 2021-2022 season, Watson played in 32 games for UCLA and he came off the bench in every single one. Watson scored just 3.3 points per game in his 12.7 minutes per night but Denver wasn't phased, selecting Watson with the 30th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

On Monday morning, USA TODAY college sports trending writer Austin Curtright published an article **** led "Big Ten football's 10 most impactful transfers for 2026: From Josh Hoover to Terry Moore," which featured two new UCLA Bruin players.
Senior running back Wayne Knight was the first Bruin featured on the list.
"An All-American last season by multiple outlets, Wayne Knight also followed his former head coach, joining up with Bob Chesney from James Madison at UCLA.
"Knight was a difference-maker last season for the Dukes, rushing for 1,373 yards with nine touchdowns, also catching 40 passes for 397 yards and another score. Several of the best teams in women's college basketball are heading to Phoenix for the inaugural Scripps Sports Women's Basketball Showcase on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Mortgage Matchup Center.
The showcase will feature two marquee matchups, with defending national champion UCLA facing Duke and USC taking on Miami.
The Bruins will look different from their national championship team as all five starters graduated. UCLA is still an expected preseason Top 15 program and added Iowa State transfer forward Addy Brown. Brown averaged 11.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.3 ***** ists in her junior season. Returning forward Sienna Betts averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds in 14.1 minutes per game in her freshman season.
The Blue Devils look like one of the strongest teams, with three of their five starters from last year's ACC Championship squad returning. Duke also added transfer Aaliyah Crump from Texas, who averaged 7.9 points and 41.1% shooting in her freshman season. Crump was the No. 5 recruit in the 2025 class, while returning guard Emilee Skinner was the No. 4 recruit in that same class.

ESPN recently dropped their annual set of "future" power rankings, which are based on how well the franchise is set up to be successful over the next three or so seasons. The Cardinals were unfortunately ranked dead last thanks to a lackluster quarterback situation.
Jacoby Brissett is not what any team wants as their long-term franchise guy, and Carson Beck as not played enough to show if he's the answer there, either. If the latter does work out, the Cardinals would understandably shoot upwards in these rankings. If he doesn't, it would all hinge on whether or not they land their guy in 2027.
It's a ******* mer to think that their young nucleus of offensive talent doesn't add up to much for these rankings, but if there's a silver lining at all right now, it's that.
