The Fund returned 13.69% in the second quarter of 2026, trailing the Russell 2000 Index's 21.49% gain as security selection in information technology and industrials weighed on performance despite positive allocation effects. Top contributors included MACOM Technology Solutions and Mercury Systems, which benefited from strong demand in semiconductor, aerospace, and defense markets, while Alamos Gold and Huron Consulting Group detracted due to operational challenges, weaker gold prices, and investor concerns surrounding artificial intelligence disruption. During the quarter, the fund initiated positions in IPG Photonics and UMB Financial, citing opportunities tied to advanced manufacturing, automation, reshoring trends, and diversified financial services, while exiting Americold Realty Trust, Byline Bancorp, and Verra Mobility. Factors such as increased merger and acquisition activity, improving domestic manufacturing due to reshoring and infrastructure investments, and a favorable regulatory environment are expected to support this ******* et class in the long term. An in-state prospect from the same town of Michigan State's top rival has received some recruiting buzz from the Spartans.
Nathan Phillips of Ann Arbor, Mich. announced on Saturday that he intends to visit Michigan State this fall for a Spartans' game day visit. Per a social media post from Phillips, he will visit Michigan State on September 12 for Michigan State's home game against Eastern Michigan.
Phillips is listed as a three-star defensive lineman and/or edge rusher, according to his social media X account. He plays for Huron High School, and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds.
According to his social media X account, Phillips has received interest from a number of big-time schools in the last month or two, including Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida State, Army, Purdue, Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan. He is also expected to visit Cincinnati in September.
Michigan State has not yet offered this 2028 prospect, but don't be surprised if that follows in the coming months. He's clearly a junior prospect that is getting some national power four buzz and could be in line for an offer from the Spartans down the road.

More than 200 sailboats will leave Port Huron in a race to Mackinac Island July 18, marking the 102 annual Bayview Mackinac Race.
More than a century ago, on July 25, 1925, only a dozen sailboats took on the inaugural race, with only six making it across the finish line due to high seas, strong winds and broken equipment.
The first race was won by Bayview Yacht Club's Bernida, finishing the 261-mile race in 49 hours and 50 minutes, the Times Herald reported on July 28, 1925.
Commodore Brian Geraghty, Bayview Yacht Club's historian, told the Times Herald in 2019 — prior to the 95th running — the idea for the races started after a crew from the Detroit-based yacht club went out east to Rhode Island in 1924.
They chartered a schooner named Lloyd W. Berry and won a 731 miles race from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda.

YPSILANTI – Mason defeated Farmington Hills Mercy 2-0 in a Division 2 regional semifinal on June 2, sending the Bulldogs (11-4-4) to the regional final against New Boston Huron.
They grabbed the lead late in the first half and kept the Marlins (6-10-2) at bay in the second. Senior goalkeeper Paige Foster recorded the shutout.
“She has 11 shutouts now,” Mason coach Christie Hursey said. “When we practice, we give her all the confidence, [and] we build her up. She’s done very well for us all year, and she controls it back there. The coaches believe in her, the players believe in her, and it’s a team sport out here. She does play her role very well.”
Both teams traded scoring chances throughout the first half, but neither could capitalize until the 30th minute.
Lexi Haynie scored after a series of Mason shots finally broke through, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead they carried into halftime.

Green Fireball Explodes Above Great Lakes

A week ago, a bright green fireball shot across the sky above the Great Lakes in Michigan. At around 5:30 am, witnesses across Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana saw the meteor leave a vivid green streak until Lake Huron, where it exploded.
More than 40 individuals logged eyewitness reports with NASA and captured images of the eerie meteor. At the time, many were unsure of what they were actually seeing, but scientists at NASA and the American Meteorological Society have confirmed that this was a fragment of a comet hurtling at roughly 160,000kp
