The Cincinnati Bengals have a few key defenders working their way back from injuries as training camp continues.
One is interior defensive lineman BJ Hill, who went to the PUP list at the start of training camp due to an injury.
According to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hill seemed to take a step forward in his comeback on Sunday by working in pads and a helmet with a sled off to the side during practice.
Then there's former first-round pick Shemar Stewart after his serious injury scare. As Conway captured, he's seemingly already out of the brace he had on his knee earlier and merely wearing a sleeve:
It goes without saying, but the Bengals will rely on both guys often during the regular season. They need Stewart to take a strong step in his development, just like other wedge defenders like Myles Murphy and Cashius Howell.

The Cincinnati Bengals have been without two of their top defensive lineman for the majority of camp. Starting defensive tackle B.J. Hill has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since before training camp as he works through an ankle injury, and second-year pass rusher Shemar Stewart suffered a hyperextended knee on the first day of practice.
Per Kelsey Conway of The Enquirer, Hill was wearing a helmet and pads during Sunday's practice and working on the rehab field. There hasn't been a timeline announced for Hill as of yet, but the fact that he was working with Director of Rehab Nick Cosgrove is a good sign.
Ideally, Hill would be cleared in time to get some work in camp, but the ultimate goal is Week 1 on September 13th.

Henry Nicholls made an instant impact on his return to New Zealand colours, stepping in for the retired Kane Williamson and delivering a composed unbeaten century to push his side into a dominant position against England on day three of the Test at The Oval.
By stumps on Friday, New Zealand had reached 252 for 3 in their second innings, effectively stretching their overall lead to 352 after bowling England out for 291 just before lunch. Nicholls remained unbeaten on 119, anchoring the innings alongside Rachin Ravindra, who made a fluent 76 before his dismissal after tea.
The pair added 161 runs from 201 ******* , setting a new record for New Zealand's highest partnership at The Oval. Their stand first stabilised the innings, then steadily built control before shifting gears after tea, when they began scoring at nearly six an over with crisp timing and clean strokeplay.
New Zealand's position puts them firmly in charge of the match, with seven wickets still in hand and the opportunity to push towards a 500-run lead. That would leave England facing a steep fourth-innings challenge, especially given their history at the venue. The Cincinnati Enquirer recently reported that the team and the Cincinnati Regional Sports Commission were engaged in talks with the NFL about the 2029 draft. Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn confirmed the team's interest in an interview with select local beat writers on Monday.
“We’ve expressed interest, as have many other cities,” Blackburn said, via Kelsey Conway of The Enquirer. “We are exploring it and seeing whether we can have an opportunity to do that. We would love it if we could. We would be excited about it. We’ll continue to work on it to see if it can happen.”
There is no timeline for a decision.
The 2027 NFL draft will be held in D.C., and the league recently awarded the 2028 NFL draft to Minneapolis.
The NFL left New York after the 2014 draft, and since then, Chicago (twice), Philadelphia, Arlington, Nashville, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Detroit, Green Bay and Pittsburgh have hosted the draft. The 2020 draft was virtual.
