The 2026 season-opener for two Alabama high school football teams was suddenly brought to a halt on Thursday evening. Benjamin Russell and Jemison met at Louis Crews Stadium, the home of Alabama A&M, in Huntsville.
Not long after the game got underway, a breaker at the stadium blew out, causing the stadium lights and scoreboard to malfunction. With no lights and inclement weather on the way, officials soon decided to suspend the game.
Jemison head coach Rico Jackson told Thomas Ashworth of AL.com that the two teams will try and resume play during week 10 later this fall.

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Over the last few seasons, the Lakers have lacked quality depth at the center position. Midway through last season, they brought in Trey Jemison, a 6-foot-10, 270-pound big man who had spent the first part of the campaign with the New Orleans Pelicans.
He originally went undrafted in 2023 out of the University of Alabama. In 22 games with the Lakers during the 2024-25 season, Jemison averaged 2.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 10.3 minutes a game.
L.A. waived him last summer, and he spent this season with the New York Knicks, although he didn't play during the postseason as they powered their way to the NBA championship. In three seasons thus far, Jemison has career averages of 3.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 13.8 minutes per game.
