Princess Anne, 76, takes her role within the royal family very seriously, racking up a whopping 478 engagements in 2025. Despite being a decade past retirement age, the Princess Royal spends her days travelling up and down the country to greet people and represent the monarchy. When she does get downtime, she retreats to Gatcombe Park, her beloved country home in Gloucestershire, away from the glare of the spotlight. Insiders tell ***** O! what life is really like at her private home.
"Gatcombe is her bolthole, where she is not the Princess Royal – she is Anne," says Ailsa Anderson, a former communications secretary to Queen Elizabeth II. "It's a lot less formal; she has Zara and Mike still living on the estate, and Peter and Harriet nearby." The Princess Royal's daughter Zara lives at Aston Farm on the estate with her former rugby player husband Mike Tindall and their three children, Mia, Lena and Lucas.
Gatcombe is surrounded by gorgeous grounds (@ Alamy Stock Photo)
Royal author Robert Hardman agrees with Ailsa. "Gatcombe is her happy place; she's fundamentally a country person," he says. Her relationship with her children and grandchildren is "very no-nonsense", he adds. "It's very normal; there isn't any standing on ceremony, and she's the only one with a ***** le.
"She's a very good grandmother. She's hands-on, but like all grandchildren, I think they can get away with things. She dotes on them."

James, Earl of Wessex will soon be leaving the family home as he starts his new university life at the Royal Agricultural University in the new term.
Ahead of his new life, James was seen joining other members of his family down at Balmoral, and he was seen driving his father, Prince Edward, as they arrived.
Although most of the UK has been basking in the sun in recent weeks, at Balmoral, the temperatures are only around 15C, and so James and Edward were seen bundled up warmly. James wore a blue jumper with a gilet, while Edward was seen wearing a green jumper with a collared shirt and tie.
Plenty of other royals were seen joining James and Edward, as the likes of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne and Zara and Mike Tindall were seen arriving at the King's Scottish home.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's UK return reportedly turned Balmoral's "business as usual" summer into a royal family summit. The **** ss of Sussex and the Duke were said to be preparing an extended move back with Archie and Lilibet. The timing placed King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other senior royals together in Scotland. The reported talks centered on school plans, family access, and the next Sussex chapter.
As per The Sun report, the royal family's Balmoral holiday became a summit. The outlet said the gathering included King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. It also reported that the family was calling the moment "business as usual." However, the report described it as the tensest Balmoral gathering since Queen Elizabeth II's death.
Meanwhile, The Sun said the meeting echoed the 2020 Sandringham meeting. That earlier summit followed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's announcement that they wanted to step back from royal life. According to the report, Harry and Meghan had already secured somewhere to live.
Their children, Archie and Lilibet, also reportedly had school places. The outlet said Charles was told of Harry's return on Sunday, before arriving at Balmoral on Tuesday.
At the same time, William and Kate were also said to be at the Scottish estate. Their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, had reportedly arrived too. The Sun said Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Zara Tindall, Mike Tindall, Prince Edward, and Sophie were also there. That meant major working royals were with the King as he handled the next phase of the Sussex story.

As a child, Paul Aaron can remember his mum shouting at him for cutting up her party dresses to make clothes for his Barbie dolls.
But decades later, his mother Ali is a lot more understanding as his coveted knitwear designs have been worn by some of the world's most famous faces including Kylie Jenner, Shakira and Zara Larsson.
Aaron, from Hooton, near Chester, said he had to pinch himself earlier this month when Hilary Duff wore his statement dress during her The Lucky Me Tour at New York's Madison Square Garden.
"It was crazy," said the 31-year-old, who loved watching the TV show Lizzie McGuire as a child where Duff plays the main character.
His fashion career began as a student at Central Saint Martins in London where he created a dress by knitting bin bags together.

Zara Tindall was seen publicly for the first time since Wimbledon on Tuesday evening. The mother of three attended the opening festivities for the 2026 FEI World Championships at Allianz Park in Aachen, Germany, joining fellow royals Princess Amalia of the Netherlands and Queen Mary of Denmark.
Looking as resplendent as ever, the daughter of Princess Anne donned a sleek black jumpsuit by Frame. The sleeveless style featured a sash detail and wide lapels, and she added FINLAY 'Tavistock' sunglasses in 'Champagne.'
Zara looked fabulous at the event in her Frame jumpsuit (@ Getty Images)
It was quite surprising to see the royal donning a black ensemble. Although it was expertly tailored in design and undoubtedly chic, the dark tone is synonymous with autumn and winter! This is somewhat of a rogue choice given the blistering hot temperatures the UK and Europe are experiencing right now.

Whilst Bianconeri coach Luciano Spalletti is desperate to seize a new central midfielder to bring equilibrium to the core of the pitch, Juventus have now set their sights emerging candidate Matias Galazara of River Plate.
TuttoJuve reports that other than Franck Kessie and Tijjani Reijnders, the Turin based club have been monitoring the 22-year-old Paraguayan midfielder throughout the Fifa 2026 World Cup and are reportedly keeping their tabs open in regards to a potential swoop.
As it stands, the Italian tactician is eager to acquire a midfielder that is capable of organizing the attack, dictating the rhythm in possession and constructing the play whilst moving vertically. Hence, the Old Lady believe that the promising River Plate star fits the criteria and believe that a fee of €6m would be enough to persuade the Argentine outfits in permitting Galazara to depart the club in favour of joining the Italian giants.

Bayern Munich's ongoing quest to offload João Palhinha- as well as Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza- reportedly got a boost via interest from Aston Villa. The Villans, who Bayern beat 2-1 in a recent friendly, have lost star midfielders Amadou Onana to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United. Despite the recent addition of the impressive João Gomes, they need more personnel and Palhinha is a concrete target of theirs.
That last tidbit of news is something Damián Vidagany, Aston Villa's sporting director, confirmed to Bild reporter Nico Linner.
"We need a midfielder because Amadou Onana will be out for the entire season, and João Palhinha is a very good player who would fit our plans," Vidagany stated (as captured by iMiaSanMia). "We are in talks, but there's currently no agreement. If anything does happen, it will always be on the basis of the big respect we have for FC Bayern. Our clubs are friends, and our relationship with Max Eberl, Christoph Freund and all the other people in charge is excellent. That is why I cannot and do not want to comment on any further details."
Of course, the problem is immediately apparent. Aston Villa wish to obtain a one year stopgap until Onana returns from his unfortunate injury, while Bayern wish to offload Palhinha permanently. How the two clubs reconcile that issue remains to be seen.
Perhaps the Bavarians will be willing to acquiesce and settle for a loan deal after all. The issue with Palhinha is that the club likely amortized the €51 million transfer fee and is still paying it to this day. If any potential loan deal can cover this year's amortization as well as the player's wages, perhaps the Bavarians would be willing to accept such a deal.

Just days before her 38th birthday on 8 August, Princess Beatrice has broken her cover for a low-key shopping trip to Fortnum & Mason in London.
Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's eldest daughter was spotted dressing in a casual high-street outfit as she blended in with crowds for her outing on 30 July. Choosing to flex her sustainable style credentials, Beatrice opted for one of her previous purchases from Kitri Studio, a deep blue midi dress with balloon sleeves and a belted waist.
The 'Joni' dress retails for £137.50, and Beatrice had previously worn it for a trip to Bluebird restaurant in London in May 2023. At the time, she teamed it with a black cross-body Celine bag and casual trainers, but Beatrice dressed it up with £50 Zara suede ballet flats for her most recent outing.
With her red hair left loose, falling in gentle waves past her shoulders, and her makeup kept minimal, Beatrice ensured she attracted minimal attention.
Princess Beatrice was spotted going under-the-radar in central London

Bayern Munich are hopeful that Aston Villa will make an approach for midfielder Joao Palhinha during the summer transfer window.
Palhinha has returned to Bayern after Tottenham Hotspur decided not to sign him permanently, despite him being one of their most consistent performers during his loan spell.
The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with a move to Villa, but interest appears to have cooled in recent weeks.
Palhinha, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza and Armindo Sieb are not included in the 2026-27 first-team squad on Bayern's official website, despite all four still being under contract.
This is a clear indication that the midfielder is not part of Vincent Kompany's plans.

Warren Zaire-Emery could be a good option for Bayern Munich, but the Bavarian giants currently have no room for him in their squad.
Bayern legend Willy Sagnol believes the German champions should target another French talent in the form of Zaire-Emery.
Bayern have a rich history of signing French players, including Franck Ribery, Bixente Lizarazu and Sagnol himself, while Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano are currently part of the club's squad.
After progressing through the youth ranks at PSG, Zaire-Emery has established himself as a key player under Luis Enrique.
The 20-year-old has already made 183 appearances for the French champions, scoring 11 goals, while also earning 13 caps for the France national team.

Photographs of the Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, often look like they could have been taken for a Ralph Lauren catalogue. Whether on their Christmas card or at official occasions, the family exudes preppy glamour. So it felt entirely appropriate that three out of five members of the family sported clothing by the American label as they attended the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.
The Princess arrived to watch the netball semi-finals wearing an ensemble which might provide inspiration for anyone looking to master a smart-casual look this summer. The hero piece of the outfit was a new double-breasted blazer, the Camden cashmere design from Ralph Lauren Collection. According to the brand's website, the jacket "debuted as a men's sporting style in 19th-century Britain" and "is one of Ralph Lauren's enduring silhouettes". Notably, Ralph Lauren is the official outfitter of the Wimbledon Championships, where the Princess is royal patron.
While Catherine's forest green version isn't currently available to buy, the identical jacket in navy retails for £2,950 – a far cry from the Zara tailoring the Princess often wears. The rest of her look continued this upscale theme – she accessorised with diamond hoop earrings by Kiki McDonough, Gianvito Rossi shoes and an Anya Hindmarch handbag.

Another key element of the Princess's outfit was a striped top, a design that she has become synonymous with ever since joining the Royal family. Catherine, who is known as the ******* ss of Rothesay in Scotland, has worn Breton tops for polo matches and relaxed family engagements as well as in difficult moments, such as the video she released telling the world she had cancer in 2023. The design also reflects the sporty Hamptons aesthetic of Ralph Lauren.

Is Uli Hoeneß mellowing in his old age? Say it ain't so! After months of pushing for sales, the Bayern Munich legend is relieving board member for sport Max Eberl of that pressure. While Hoeneß wants to see a few sales, it is no longer a requirement for Eberl to keep his job.
"If we can now manage to move one or two players on — which is what we'd ideally like to do — that would be great. But I also want to make one thing absolutely clear: a contract with Bayern Munich is sacrosanct. That means if, in the end, no suitable solution is found, we'll keep the players," Hoeneß said.
This is pretty significant as Bayern Munich has three pretty expensive surplus players on the roster at the moment. Per Capology, João Palhinha (€12,000,000 total pay package), Bryan Zaragoza (€8,490,000 total pay package), and Sacha Boey (€4,340,000 total pay package) all carry significant financial burdens without much hope for playing time.
Another big candidate for sale is Hiroki Itō (€4,700,000 total pay package), but as the squad's fourth center-back, he — at least — has a role that would be needed and a pay package commensurate with his role.
No doubt, Eberl will still try to unload those aforementioned players (and maybe a few youngsters as well), but not feeling like he will lose his job if he cannot move those players is like a big relief.

NEW DELHI: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued his dream start to international cricket, making a stunning 230-place leap in the latest ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings after starring in India's 3-0 series sweep over Zimbabwe.
The 15-year-old's meteoric rise headlines the latest rankings update, while Ishan Kishan tightened his grip on the world No. 1 spot after registering the third-highest batting rating in T20I history during the Harare series.
Sooryavanshi announced himself on the international stage with a memorable series against Zimbabwe, scoring 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33. His performances, which included two half-centuries, earned him the Player of the Series award and a remarkable rise of 230 places in the ICC rankings.
The teenage opener is now ranked 48th among T20I batters with 536 rating points, marking a new career-best ranking.
While he still trails India's senior stars, the leap underlines the rapid impact he has made in international cricket and reinforces his status as one of the game's brightest young talents.
At the top of the batting rankings, Ishan Kishan retained his position as the world's No. 1 T20I batter with 910 rating points, comfortably ahead of Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan, who is second with 848 points.
Kishan had briefly reached a career-high 916 rating points after his brilliant 81-run knock in the second T20I against Zimbabwe. That tally is the third-highest batting rating ever recorded in T20I cricket, behind only Abhishek Sharma (931) and England's Dawid Malan (919).
Although his rating dipped slightly after the final match, Kishan's career-best figure of 916 remains higher than the peak ratings achieved by Indian greats Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
As the ICC noted, "Sooryavanshi's rating of 536 points is well adrift of his more experienced teammates, but Kishan can now boast of having a better career batter rating than more accomplished Indian players like Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909)."
India enjoyed a productive week across the T20I rankings.
Tilak Varma climbed two places to sixth among batters, while captain Shreyas Iyer gained seven spots to 24th after the Zimbabwe series.
Among bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi surged 31 places to 41st following his three wickets in the series. Varun Chakravarthy, who missed the tour through injury, slipped three places but remained inside the top 10.
Zimbabwe also had reason to celebrate despite the series defeat. Ryan Burl climbed six places to joint 85th among T20I batters, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani rose 10 spots to 26th in the bowling rankings.

After the bruising their T20 side endured on the UK tour, this Zimbabwe series could be just the ideal fillip India needed.
Having finally recorded their maiden win under new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer after seven winless matches at the helm, India will look to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead when they take on Zimbabwe in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
Following a difficult run that saw them whitewashed by Ireland (0-2) and England (0-4), India's convincing sevenwicket victory in the seriesopener has restored some much-needed confidence.
Yet, even as the visitors look to build on that momentum, one player who will be under the scanner is explosive opener Abhishek Sharma.
Two years ago, Harare was the venue where Abhishek announced himself on the international stage with a breathtaking maiden T20I hundred in only his second game.
The stylish left-hander returns to the same ground searching for a spark after a worrying dip in form. Having begun the England series promisingly with scores of 59 and 43, Abhishek's returns thereafter have read 10, 16, 3 and 1. In Thursday's opener, his uncomfortable eight-ball 1 suggested a batter short on rhythm and confidence.
With competition for places intensifying, Abhishek knows he needs runs. Senior opener Sanju Samson, though absent on this tour, remains in the selectors' plans and has been named in India's squad for the Asian Games later this year. A substantial score in Harare would not only help India seal the series but also strengthen Abhishek's own case in a rapidly evolving T20 setup.
India, though, found a new hero in the opening match.
Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed a stunning 18-ball fifty, becoming the youngest player to score a T20I half-century.
The 15-year-old, who had endured a difficult England tour where pacy bowlers like Jofra Archer tested him relentlessly with short-pitched bowling, responded in style against Zimbabwe.
Taking on Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani fearlessly, he produced a blistering innings that underlined why he is so highly rated.
Supported by Ishan Kishan's brisk 35 and an unbeaten 28 from skipper Iyer, Sooryavanshi ensured India chased down the target with more than six overs to spare.
Head coach VVS Laxman would have been equally pleased by the performance of India's revamped pace attack. The biggest positive was the return of Mayank Yadav, who made an impressive comeback after two injury-ravaged years. The Delhi quick finished with figures of 2 for 18 and consistently touched high speeds, with his opening delivery to Brian Bennett at 150 kmph indidcating that his pace remains intact.
Prince Yadav also showed signs of improvement after a lean England tour, while debutant Ashok Sharma displayed enough promise to suggest he could become another exciting fast-bowling option.

Showing the kind of murderous touch that has made him the most feared batsman in the IPL, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi blazed to his maiden international half-century as India thrashed Zimbabwe by seven wickets, with 40 ******* to spare, in the opening T20I at the Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Aged 15 years and 118 days, Sooryavanshi smashed 50 off only 18 ******* in an innings studded with four sixes and four fours.
The teenage batting sensation had endured a difficult start to his international career during India's T20I series against England in July, after scores of 14 (10), 13 (5) and 15 (10) in his first three innings.
Returning to the scene of his 80-ball 175 against England in the 2026 U-19 World Cup final, the precociously talented opener produced a dazzling display to make light work of a modest 126-run chase, racing to an 18-ball fifty.
Sooryavanshi smashed 19 runs off Richard Ngarava in the second over, clobbering the left-arm pacer for two sixes.
Zimbabwe hit back in the third over as Blessing Muzarabani (2-26) had Abhishek Sharma, who scratched around for one off eight ******* , caught at deep backward point off a slash. But Sooryavanshi continued to attack, launching two more sixes straight down the ground besides several fiercely struck boundaries.
He eventually fell to Ngarava in the seventh over, chasing a wide delivery outside off and top-edging to Ben Curran at deep third. By then, however, India had raced to 68 and the youngster had virtually settled the contest.
The visitors completed the chase in just 13.2 overs. The win also ended new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer's winless run, as he registered his maiden victory in his eighth match in charge. Shreyas had lost six of his first seven games as captain during the tours of Ireland and England.
It was also India's first win to kick off the three-match series since lifting the 2026 T20 World Cup in March.
Earlier, India's new-look pace attack starred after the visitors elected to field, with Mayank Yadav (2-18) and Prince Yadav (2-19) sharing four wickets for just 37 runs in eight overs to restrict Zimbabwe to 125 for seven.
Vindicating the selectors' decision to back him despite an ordinary IPL 2026, Mayank made an immediate impact by dismissing opener Brian Bennett, who had scored 97 against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup in Chennai, with the very first ball of the match.
His 150 kmph thunderbolt brushed Bennett's bat before carrying through to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, whose review overturned the umpire's decision. Mayank struck again in the fifth over, removing No. 3 batter Dion Myers for six, caught at mid-on.
Prince accounted for the other opener, debutant Ben Curran, as Zimbabwe slumped to 20 for three. The hosts slipped further to 32 for four in the eighth over when captain Sikandar Raza (4) pulled Shivam Dube straight to substitute fielder Suryansh Shedge at deep midwicket.

Bayern Munich is facing a difficult situation with moving several players who are no longer in the first team plans under Vincent Kompany. Bild lays out the report, as captured by iMiaSanMia:
The situation of Bayern's out-of-favor players: João Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza
– Palhinha has recently rejected lucrative offers from top clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Both are out of the question for the player. Palhinha is divorced and wants to see his 3 and 1 year old kids, who live in Portugal, as often as possible. Therefore Benfica and Sporting are options for him, but neither club can currently afford the high transfer fee. Aston Villa are also showing interest, but are only considering a loan with an option to buy.
-For Sacha Boey, mid-table Premier League clubs have shown interest. But Bayern are insisting on a €15m asking price
-Bryan Zaragoza is keen to return to Spain. Espanyol and Sevilla are monitoring his situation. However, there haven't been any serious talks yet, partly due to his salary of around €4m/year at Bayern

India finally ended their seven-match winless run under captain Shreyas Iyer, defeating Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the first T20I at Harare on Thursday. The match also witnessed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi script history by becoming the youngest player to score a T20I half-century.
After winning the toss, Iyer opted to bowl first, and India's pace attack justified the decision with a clinical performance.
Returning to international cricket for the first time since October 2024 after recovering from a stress fracture, Mayank Yadav made an immediate impact. The express pacer dismissed Brian Bennett with the very first ball of the match before removing Dion Myers, consistently clocking speeds in excess of 145 kmph.
Zimbabwe were reduced to 26/3 inside the powerplay and slipped further to 32/4 after Shivam Dube dismissed captain Sikandar Raza.
A fighting partnership between Wessly Madhevere (39) and Ryan Burl (26), along with an unbeaten 27 off 20 from Tadiwanashe Marumani, helped the hosts recover to 125/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Debutant Ashok Sharma recovered well after an expensive first over, while Ravi Bishnoi bowled economically to finish with 1/24.
Chasing 126, India suffered an early setback when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for just 1. However, it proved to be Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's day.
The 15-year-old prodigy unleashed a breathtaking ****** ault, smashing 50 off just 19 ****** with four fours and four sixes. In the process, he became the youngest player ever to score a T20I half-century, putting India firmly in control of the chase before falling immediately after reaching his milestone.

For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, dismissing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, while Richard Ngarava claimed the prized scalp of Sooryavanshi.
The victory marked Shreyas Iyer's first win as India's T20I captain, ending a frustrating seven-match winless streak that included the tours of Ireland and England, while Sooryavanshi's record-breaking knock stole the headlines in Harare.

Zara Tindall and her husband Mike have made a surprise appearance as they returned to Wimbledon for day 10 of the tournament.
King Charles's niece, 45, looked glamorous in a blue and white striped shirt and sunglasses with her blonde bob lightly curled as she chatted to former F1 boss Christian Horner and his wife, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
Former rugby player Mike, 47, matched his wife in a cream blazer and blue shirt as they watched the action on Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The couple, who have been married since 2011, did not join their fellow royals, Queen Camilla and newlyweds Harriet and Peter Phillips, in the Royal Box.
It's all down to one of Zara's roles outside her sporting career. The mum-of-three is a brand ambassador for several luxury brands, including Rolex, which has been partnered with Wimbledon for over 40 years.
