As President Donald Trump's unpopularity with the American public continues to be reflected in approval polls, Kelsey Grammer has a much rosier outlook, saying in a recent interview that the president will be remembered as one of the best in U.S. history.
In a recent interview with the British talk radio station LBC, the Republican "Frasier" star said Trump loved America and predicted the president will "probably" be remembered as one of the best leaders in the country's history.
"Because ****** ody really stood up for America in quite some time in the presidency," Grammer said.
Grammer, 71, also praised how he perceives Trump responds to critics.
"He says if somebody comes at him, if they come at him with hate, which they really have done, he just sends it right back at them," he said. "And I think that throws them off."

Moerus Capital Management LLC, an investment management firm, recently released its "Worldwide Fund " second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The fund navigated a highly bifurcated investment environment in the second quarter of 2026, as investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and technology drove a sharp rally in growth stocks while capital moved away from more traditional, value-oriented areas. The Fund's Institutional Class returned 0.14% in Q2, compared with 14.49% for the MSCI ACWI ex USA and 14.93% for the MSCI ACWI, while its first-half return stood at 5.37%, versus 13.69% and 11.25%, respectively, for the two benchmarks. The relative underperformance was primarily driven by the Fund's limited exposure to Information Technology as semiconductor and AI-related stocks surged, while its Energy holdings also gave back some earlier gains as oil prices declined; however, the Fund benefited from several energy-related investments during the first half. Looking ahead, Moerus views the extreme gap between expensive AI-focused areas and neglected parts of the market as an opportunity, maintaining its long-term deep-value approach of investing in unpopular businesses and ******* ets at significant discounts to intrinsic value and using market volatility to identify potentially attractive investments. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

Timely enough off the heels of the Labor Day holiday yesterday, the NHL's new collective bargaining agreement, the labor rules agreed to by the NHL and the NHLPA, kicks in next week. The new agreement is in place through September 2030, marking the second time in a row the two sides have put a deal in place without missing any time. That's no small matter, prior to the recent labor peace the NHL owners have locked out the players in 2004 and 2012 for significant periods that cost a total of 116 games.
These days, fortunately for all, there is more cooperation and perhaps about the best working relationship between the owners and players that we have seen in hockey. Those good feelings are no doubt influenced by business as a whole booming – revenue is way up so their is more money to be made by both sides. Further, ownership is absolutely swimming in vastly increased valuation and sale prices lately – look no further than the Penguins selling for $1.75 billion in 2026 after selling for $900 million just five years earlier.
The new CBA had some rules come on board early for last season – like LTIR tweaks and the playoff salary cap. Here are a few more interesting tweaks in place.
Training camps open Sept. 16 to coincide with the start of that new labor deal, and they'll look much different than they did in the past. Experienced players will be put through only a 13-day camp, down from 20 days, and those with at least 100 NHL games on their resumes are now limited to two exhibition games. Each team will play only four exhibition games.
The preseason shrinks again, at least formally. Most players across the league are already skating informally with their teammates and have been for a week or more by this point. That amount of time in the pre-practice stage will now be longer than the formal, official 13-day training camp. Long gone are the days of multiple on-ice sessions per day. In fact, teams can also no longer implement fitness testing for unpopular tests on the exercise bike or the so-called dreaded bag skate or repetitive timed sprints.

Sept 7 (Reuters) - As the unofficial start of the campaign sprint kicks off on Labor Day Monday, President Donald Trump's deep unpopularity is imperiling Republican chances of maintaining their narrow majorities in Congress with just two months before November's midterm elections.
Midterm elections, above all, are a referendum on the occupant of the White House, according to election experts. That is even more of a truism in the era of Trump, who has spent the better part of a decade as the country's dominant political figure and could face stiff political headwinds in his final two years in office.
If Democrats win a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, as appears likely, the party would be able to open damaging investigations into Trump's administration while forcing the White House to compromise on most legislation. Party leaders have already vowed to launch probes into what they describe as Trump's corruption.
The race for U.S. Senate control is much too close to call, according to ******* ysts, but a Democratic majority in that chamber could block many of Trump's nominees, including any Supreme Court justices in the event of a high court vacancy.

President Donald Trump wants to be heavily involved in Republicans' midterm push. They're not all thrilled.
As Trump begins to unveilhis midterm campaign plans, many Republicans facing tough elections — even in areas the president carried by double digits in 2024 — are wary of tying themselves too closely to Trump as his approval rating continues to drag.
Many privately admit they're stuck in an uncomfortable spot: By running too far from Trump, Republicans risk alienating the MAGA faithful or the president himself, whose super PAC is sitting on more than $400 million they desperately need deployed to help them win key races. But if the candidates keep Trump close, they could be dragged down by the president, as the unpopular war in Iran has increased costs for Americans across the country.
So far, they haven't settled on a unified approach, according to interviews with more than two dozen GOP lawmakers, candidates and operatives. Mostly, they don't want to talk about it.
When asked in an interview if he wants Trump to campaign in his swing district this fall or spend time elsewhere, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) gave an indirect answer.

President Donald Trump has dropped another clunker in the laps of his fellow Republicans in the run-up to the 2026 midterm elections.
His new trade war with Canada and his related move to change the name of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" are the latest in a series of unpopular actions.
In fact, new polling suggests they're even more unpopular than Trump's previous tariffs and efforts to rename things.
A Reuters-Ipsos poll conducted in recent days is the first quality survey to test Trump's renewed clash with Canada.
It shows Americans oppose the president's executive order to rename Lake Ontario as "Lake America" 63% to 14%, with the rest undecided.

WEST LAFAYETTE — Josh Henson and Kevin Kane spent the last month trying to outwit the other.
Now Purdue football's offensive and defensive coordinators are unified in hoping to play complementary football Friday night against someone other than their own team.
For Kane, Friday's kickoff against Indiana State is a first chance to prove Barry Odom's decision to hire him for the role he'd had in 2023 and '24, an unpopular move for fans, was the right choice.
For Henson, it's a chance to show growth after 2025 provided him the first chance to be a full-time offensive play caller in a decade.
"These small little details and just organizing and running an offense, one year back into it, I'm rolling on those things," Henson said four days ahead of the season opener. "Because of that, it's given our coaching staff the ability to go coach our guys on all the small details and I feel like we're further along in that area."

President Donald Trump said "Meet the Press" moderator Kristen Welker will be reported to the Federal Communications Commission over her coverage of his endorsements ahead of the midterm elections.
"Kristen Welker, the Unpopular 'Hostess' of the once great Meet the Press, now considered Meet the Fake Press, just stated that Donald Trump has 'mixed results' on his Endorsements of Candidates, when the recent WINS of Darline Graham and Mike Mazzei, stand at 100% for the U.S. Senate, and 98% for the U.S. House," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Aug. 30.
Trump added: "Because of this purposeful inaccuracy, she will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment. Unfortunately, she is not the only one."
NBC News told USA TODAY that "Kristen is one of the best in the business and we stand by her" in an Aug. 30 statement.
Trump does have a strong 2026 endorsement record, but some candidates he supported lost recent primaries.

President Donald Trump has never taken kindly to losing elections. He's often tried to explain it away by citing bogus claims of mass voter fraud.
But ahead of the 2026 midterm election, he appears to be lining up another culprit and scapegoat: his fellow Republicans.
Repeatedly in recent weeks, Trump has suggested that if congressional Republicans lose big in November, they will have themselves to blame — and certainly not him.
This is ridiculous, of course. Trump is historically unpopular and appears to have alienated many voters even in his own party in ways that clearly harm the GOP's midterm hopes. Congressional Republicans could certainly have insulated themselves better from Trump's problems and stood up more to his excesses, but he would clearly shoulder the lion's share of the blame.
Regardless, though, Trump blaming the GOP for its own losses — if they do indeed lose control of either chamber — would set up a very interesting intraparty clash at a particularly sensitive time. It would come as it's licking its wounds from a bad election and perhaps considering a new path forward from the Trump era.

The Golden State Warriors with Kevin Durant are widely considered to be the most stacked team in NBA history. But KD himself thinks it was his best roster.
Kevin Durant's move to the Golden State Warriors back in 2016 was one of the most unpopular decisions in NBA history. This was largely due to the fact that his addition made them virtually unstoppable.
The Warriors showed this almost instantly, too. The team won back-to-back NBA championships in ruthless fashion, barely losing any games on their way to winning it all.
Durant left the Warriors in 2019, but it wasn't the last superteam he played on. And even though the Brooklyn Nets never got to the promised land, Durant thinks that roster was even more loaded.

The Big Ten is trying to control the chaos.
Via Pete Thamel of ESPN, the conference is expected to pass a rule on Tuesday barring anyone who has been on an NFL team from being on a Big Ten roster.
It's unclear whether the rule will be enforceable. If the players have secured an injunction that allows them to return to college for a year, collective action to ban them from a group of college programs would potentially amount to the same kind of antitrust violations that have created the current ripple effects.
Of course, the Big Ten may not care. With the return of NFL players to college programs instantly becoming a widely unpopular development, the dynamic becomes an opportunity to try to build more momentum to get the Protect College Sports Act passed — thereby giving the NCAA the antitrust exemption it craves, along with the ability to partially pick the pockets of players who have leveraged the reckoning into revenue that would otherwise go directly to the schools.
In other words, it's more performative than substantive. Like the outcry after Brendan Sorsby won an injunction to play at Texas Tech. People don't like the idea of NFL players returning to college programs (never mind the fact that Nick Saban invited former NFL players to practice with current Alabama players), and that disdain can be used to help the system get what it so badly wants.

The future of Nico Gonzalez at Manchester City became painstakingly clear on Sunday. Marc Guehi started in midfield and the Spanish midfielder was an unused substitute in City's 2-1 win over Bournemouth. The fact that Guehi was preferred in midfield to Nico Gonzalez said all you needed to know about where he stands in Enzo Maresca's squad. It has been reported that Nico Gonzalez is set to sign for Newcastle United. That move may not be popular, but it may be for the best for Nico and Manchester City.
Nico Gonzalez is set to complete a permanent move to Newcastle United. Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City and Newcastle have agreed on a £50 million package that will see the Spanish midfielder depart the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. It is reported that Newcastle will pay £47 million plus £3 million in add-ons. Romano also reports that Nico will be a key player for Newcastle as they bid to replace Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali.
During his time at Manchester City, Nico Gonzalez didn't really put a foot wrong. He was signed during the January 2025 transfer window when Pep Guardiola's squad was in desperate need of midfield reinforcement. He showed glimpses during the back end of that season that he could grow and become a consistent contributor for Pep Guardiola's side. He did play really well in the Rodri role during the first half of last season. However, when Rodri returned from injury, Nico's opportunities to play dried up.
During the closing stages of last season, Nico Gonzalez was left out of Manchester City's matchday squad altogether. It was thought that with Enzo Maresca coming in the equation could change for Nico. But it has not. Instead, he is on the verge of signing for Newcastle. Also, if Nico had come on as expected, perhaps Manchester City would not have been so eager to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille.
In the end, perhaps it is the right move for Manchester City to sell Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle. The Spanish midfielder should be an important player for them and he will get the opportunity to play regularly which wasn't going to arrive at City. That is probably the best move for all concerned despite it being an unpopular move.

Joe Rogan lambasted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for dismissing concerns about people taking unpopular hard-left stances by claiming "Woke 1 was crazy," with Rogan saying AOC needs to do more than just shrug it off — she needs to explain why her own views changed.
The veteran comic went off on AOC during his Friday podcast. He started off by saying the liberal lawmaker has been looking "hot" in her recent videos where she talks about freezing her eggs, before quickly pivoting to bashing her for her viral "Woke 1" remark.
"[It] makes me think that you're willing to change your opinions based on public reaction. I don't like that," Rogan vented. "Because if you really thought 'defund the police,' and then you just [ascribed] it to 'Woke 1 was crazy,' well how did it get you? Because it didn't get me. How did it get you?"
Rogan continued:
Give me your thoughts. How far out did you track the consequences of defunding the police? Because I immediately went to, you're going to have more crime because no one is going to be able to stop teh crime. IT's going to get scary and ten you're going to want more police and saying 'defund the police' is just going to make more police and more control and more totalitarian government.

Prince Harry's wife, Meghan, faces a tough challenge in reassimilating to life in the UK where she remains deeply unpopular, as well as managing uneasy ties with the royal family.
Through bombshell interviews and tell-all documentaries, the 45-year-old former American actress has never hidden how difficult she found things after her fairytale wedding to Harry in 2018.
And both she and Harry have complained about her treatment by the British media which Harry told a court this year made her life "an absolute misery".
"I think there's more questions sort of over her and how she re-adapts to the life back in the United Kingdom" than about Harry, said historian Ed Owens.
How she will cope "is difficult to answer at this stage because you know she's tried successively over the last six years to reinvent her public image to relaunch her brand", he added.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly moving back to the UK. However, a royal expert believes their move is not for royal reconciliation but rather an "admission of failure." She was shocked to learn about the decision after the couple willingly quit the Royal Family and had criticized the institution for years.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield claims that Prince Harry and Markle's decision to relocate back to the UK proves that they still need the monarchy. She was shocked by their decision, given that the couple left the Royal Family as they needed freedom to thrive. She now believes that their return is an "admission of failure," although she is unsure if the couple would be "honest enough" to accept that fact.
Schofield noted that the Duke and ******* ss of Sussex cannot expect royal treatment when they make their way to the UK. She told Page Six that this won't be possible, as they have spent years slamming the establishment and now are coming back after Californian life didn't work out. "I didn't think these two had the audacity to actually do it," she added.
The expert also pointed out how the couple has become deeply unpopular in the UK while Harry continues to take on the government and British justice system. "If this were the product of some great royal reconciliation, you would expect the King to have been part of the conversation, not simply informed once the decision had been made," Schofield said, referring to the report that King Charles learned about the Sussexes' move on Sunday.
It's reported that Harry and his family will be residing in a private home in London, which is not a royal base. Their kids will attend school in the UK, starting next month. However, it is to be noted that they won't return to their royal duties and will continue to maintain their Sussex ******* le.

WASHINGTON (AP) — It is among the most famous phrases in presidential history: " The buck stops here." Except with President Donald Trump, it almost never does.
Concerns about a weak economy and still-high inflation? His predecessor, Joe Biden, saddled him with that, he says, even though the Democrat has been out of office for 18-plus months and despite Trump once promising an immediate turnaround.
The problem-plagued revamp of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool? That was marred by vandalism, the Republican president insists, even though the office of a prosecutor he put in the job has said the damage was due to shoddy workmanship.
The increasingly unpopular war in Iran that has kept oil prices high, Trump's approval rating low and sent shock waves through the global economy? Actually, this was Trump making up for timid earlier presidents who, he argues, squandered nearly 50 years of opportunities to curb Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
Pithy slogans aside, all modern presidents shift responsibility onto others to some degree, frequently blaming the commander-in-chief who preceded them, Congress — or both. But Trump has taken it to a new level, effectively embracing a de facto political strategy of being in charge of everything but responsible for nothing when things go badly.

The Strait of Hormuz is, by some accounts, named for a Zoroastrian deity destined to emerge victorious after a 9,000-year standoff with an adversary.
Iran's leaders feel their own victory is at hand and won't require the same epic patience.
They are betting that military pressure will ultimately force the United States to accept their control over the crucial waterway for global energy — and that time is on their side.
They know about the diminishing stockpiles of key U.S. weapons such as advanced missile interceptors. They know the war is deeply unpopular with Americans. They know that as long as the strait is largely closed, the price of gas and other goods will stay high ahead of U.S. congressional elections in November. They know that trying to open it by force would be costly and may require American ground troops. They know their Houthi allies in Yemen could widen the war and disrupt another major trade route.
By that logic, U.S. President Donald Trump has no choice but to capitulate.

Pete Crow-Armstrong went on a podcast last week and said with a laugh he likes the theory that Babe Ruth never existed. Baseball's internet treated it like a confession.
"This is gonna be crazy," the Cubs center fielder told Kristin Cavallari on her show "Let's Be Honest." Then he brought up the theory that the sport's greatest player may never have existed. He picked up the theory from Tayler Saucedo, a Mariners pitcher at the time, who floated it on a podcast in 2024 because he had barely seen any video of Ruth playing. Saucedo said this was a discussion in the Mariners bullpen and that they also decided that Ted Williams' legendary 500-foot home run never happened either.
Crow-Armstrong piled on Ruth saying the game has changed so much since then that pitchers back then might as well have been throwing underhand.
Then everybody lost it. One site used the quote to worry about American public education. Another brought up the plague of misinformation. A bunch of them criticized the young Cubs outfielder. It raised eyebrows and ruffled feathers! That's a lot of coverage for a 24-year-old answering a question about an unpopular opinion on a podcast hosted by somebody from "Laguna Beach."

With Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham's comments that she wants to protect "young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men," the conversation around the political hot-button issue has landed at the WNBA's doorstep.
While only 1% of the U.S. population identifies as transgender and there were, as of 2024, fewer than 10 transgender student-athletes among the NCAA's 510,000 athletes, the concern has become the cause celebre in right-wing circles, presumably because it's one of the few issues they have some momentum on amid a wide array of unpopular policies and trends.
As such, right-wing journalists and pundits have seized on the WNBA's stance on transgender athletes (despite there being no transgender women in the league). Since Cunningham's initial comments and doubling down on it amid rallies from supporters during the Fever's current road trip, several WNBA coaches have shared their thoughts on the matter.
Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White and Portland Fire coach Alex Sarama both expressed a desire for inclusivity and further discussion, and they navigated direct questions about how they'd feel about a "biological male" playing in the league.
Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve offered an insightful diatribe about how the transgender athlete issue is being pushed to the forefront, while many other pressing concerns affecting women's sports are getting the actual focus. She also shared nuanced thoughts on the situation transgender kids and athletes are facing and how more education and discussion could benefit everyone.

Baseball players have a decent amount of down time during a game, and that can lead to some wild conversations and conspiracies.
But when it comes to baseball conspiracies, Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong came in strong with an objectively preposterous theory.
In a recent appearance on Let's Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari, Crow-Armstrong was asked to share an unpopular opinion. And he said — somewhat jokingly — that he didn't think that Babe Ruth actually existed. And he went on to explain that he mainly didn't think this one person could have been a god of the sport given how the game has evolved.
The podcast he was referencing was a 2024 interview with Mariners pitcher Tayler Saucedo. Basically, Saucedo claimed that since he's only seen one video of Ruth, the baseball legend probably never existed. Mind you that Babe Ruth was probably the most photographed person in America at that time. There are still living people who witnessed him play. Like, he objectively existed.

Gianni Infantino has become a very controversial figure in recent days, and he's trying to extend his tenure as FIFA president for even longer.
There are few men in the world of soccer as unpopular as the current president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino. The Swiss executive has been in the headlines since he introduced his latest wild plan.
Infantino is currently pushing for the approval of a private investment plan, which would see the creation of a private FIFA subsidiary partly owned by investors to run the World Cup.
This plan has caused a lot of turmoil, with UEFA vocal in their opposition and discussing a potential boycott of the premier competition. But this isn't the only Infantino idea for soccer fans to worry about.

Republicans are starting to fret about their base's lack of enthusiasm ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Those voters were already disproportionately less likely to vote in elections not featuring Donald Trump, and now the GOP has to contend with the president being more unpopular than ever.
And a new CNN poll drives home the problem: Large portions of Trump's base are feeling disillusioned over more than a few of his choices lately.
Across a bevy of questions — on subjects ranging from the economy to the Iran war to Trump's self-enrichment and efforts to makeover Washington — large percentages of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents are registering discontent. As in, often 30%, 40%, 50% or more.
Overall, the CNN poll shows 30% of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents disapprove of Trump.

In the U.S., although soccer is a sport every kid plays at least once, few adults follow the professional leagues. That mismatch is exactly what sparks a lively thread in r/AskAnAmerican, where a redditor asked, "Why is soccer so popular to play as kids but there’s hardly any fandom for professional soccer?"
Below, redditors break down everything from youth sports practicality to TV timeouts, and whether pro soccer (the recent World Cup not included) is truly unpopular or just easy to overlook.
Soccer is is easy for kids to start playing. In the comments, redditors point to its simple logistics: minimal gear, fewer barriers for beginners, and a schedule that fits busy families.
Being widely played does not automatically make something a top-tier spectator sport, especially in a country with entrenched leagues, traditions, and media ecosystems. Commenters argue that pro soccer competes for attention with sports that already dominate screens, stadiums, and youth dreams.
A big chunk of the debate comes down to a familiar split: participation versus spectatorship. Several redditors describe soccer as a great way to move, compete, and have a shared activity, but say that watching a professional game requires a different kind of attention and patience than they want to give.

A big chunk of the debate comes down to a familiar split: participation versus spectatorship. Several redditors describe soccer as a great way to move, compete, and have a shared activity, but say that watching a professional game requires a different kind of attention and patience than they want to give.

The New England Patriots went into the offseason with edge rusher expected to be one of their biggest needs. Now, merely days away from the start of training camp, edge rusher is still the biggest need on the roster.
One of the more unpopular moves during the offseason was the team's decision to move on from K'Lavon Chaisson, who outplayed his initial perceived value on the one-year deal he signed with the Patriots in 2025.
He finished second behind Harold Landry III with 7.5 sacks and was one of the most productive defenders on the field over the four-game playoff stretch, racking up three sacks, one pass defended, one forced fumble, 10 quarterback hits and four tackles for a loss.
And yet, despite clear upside being shown by Chaisson, the Patriots decided to shift their entire focus to Dre'Mont Jones in free agency. It's a move that might come back to haunt the team given the current state of the edge position.
Landry is reportedly opening training camp on the physically unable to perform list. It's a concerning designation for a 30-year-old player who consistently dealt with injuries last season. There are no guarantees that Landry can serve as a full-time player on the edge anymore at this point in his career. Perhaps he'd be better off contributing in a part-time rotational role on defense.
