The Green Bay Packers made a move to bolster their wide receiver room on Monday, bringing up a familiar face from coach Matt LaFleur's team's practice squad. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Green Bay has called up receiver Bo Melton to the team's active 53-man roster. Melton has experimented at cornerback in the past and will join the Packers as a wide receiver.
Melton was drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks and was briefly compared to Jaguars star Travis Hunter for his two-way play. He was signed off the Seahawks' practice squad in 2022 and has stuck with Green Bay as a backup. Melton had his best season that year with 16 catches for 218 yards and a touchdown. He has 29 receptions for 426 yards and two touchdowns in his Packers career.
Melton will join a team that is still reeling from a 39-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. Green Bay failed to live up to LaFleur's standards against the Vikings and will soon look to rebound in a road game on September 20 against the New York Jets. LaFleur is squarely on the hot seat in some circles, and a loss to the Jets would start to make it feel even more uncomfortable.

"HC Ben Johnson says Caleb Williams told him about advice he got from Drew Brees, who called the game for FOX: the difference between a 60% and 70% completion rate is 3 more completions per game. 'That might've stuck with our guy a little bit,' Johnson said with a smile."
Williams hit on 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two scores as the Bears humbled the Panthers, 59-37.

The Atlanta Falcons have a very brutal quarterback situation during the 2026 NFL season. Michael Penix Jr. is supposed to be the starter, but he's coming off an injury and isn't 100% just yet.
Tua Tagovailoa was meant to be the starter, but he sustained an oblique injury during practice, leaving Cooper Rush to start. He, too, was dealing with an injury, but the Falcons stuck with him as the starter. That was a mistake, as he really struggled.
It wouldn't be surprising for fans and media to call for the Falcons to start beloved undrafted free agent quarterback Jack Strand in place of Rush. But, Marc Raimondi of ESPN shared why the Falcons won't make the switch, as they don't believe he's ready yet.
"It does not seem like the team thinks undrafted rookie Jack Strand, who played great in the preseason, is ready just yet," Raimondi writes.

Eli Willits has made his primary goal crystal clear ever since he joined the Nationals organization. He wants to be a big leaguer by the time he is 20 years old. For most players, that is a pipe dream. However, Eli Willits is not most players and he made that very obvious this season.
The 18 year old just finished his first professional season in style. Willits got promoted to Double-A for the last week of the season. While he only got to play three games, the last one was legendary. Willits had a four hit game which included his first AA home run and two stolen bases. It was an amazing final act to a wonderful season.
With Willits finishing the season in AA, he is putting himself in position to make a debut late in 2027. Despite being such a young player, Willits is remarkably polished. This comes from being the son of a big leaguer and being obsessed with the game ever since he could walk.
When I talked to Willits earlier this season, it was very clear that three things truly mattered to him. Eli Willits is all about family, faith and baseball. You will be hard pressed to find a more business-like 18 year old out there. As Willits put it, he grew up in an MLB clubhouse and it is easy to see that.
That baseball IQ manifests itself on the field. When I watched Willits for the first time in Low-A, the thing that stuck out to me most was how natural he looked. Willits looked like a big league caliber defender at shortstop already. While many young shortstops, even the defensively gifted ones make a lot of errors, Willits is already so secure. He only made 8 errors all season as an 18 year old.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Arizona State football team took to the road for the first time in 2026 and lost, 48-20, to Texas A&M in front of 107,523 fans on Saturday, Sept. 12. It was the largest crowd the Sun Devils have ever played before.
ASU stuck close and only trailed 24-20 heading into the fourth quarter, but unraveled in the final 15 minutes. The Sun Devils committed four turnovers, leading to 24 points for the nationally ranked Aggies (No. 9 Coaches Poll, No. 10 AP).
A turning point came with ASU trailing 31-20 with 8:38 left. The Sun Devils had a chance to cut the deficit to one score after the Aggies fumbled a punt snap, allowing ASU to take over at the Texas A&M 34. But on the first play, quarterback Cutter Boley was pressured, causing the ball to squirt out of his hand and into those of the Aggies' Marco Jones, who ran it back for a touchdown that made it 38-20.
It was over after that.
"We're going to be a ****** of a team. We know that," Boley said. "We know who we are. We know what we've got. Just another day in the office. Go back to work. All of our guys believe in each other. We trust each other, so we're going to go right back to work because we know what we've got."

There was a subdued atmosphere at the final whistle among Chelsea's players, staff and supporters.
They had watched the team's free-flowing attacking football come unstuck against a Hull City side who had not conceded a Premier League goal before kick-off.
Chelsea had previously beaten Fulham 3-2, won 4-3 at home to Brighton and lost 2-1 at ***** nal. They also overcame Leeds 6-3 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Having conceded twice here, Chelsea have now gone 20 Premier League matches without a clean sheet, a run stretching back to January. They have also conceded two or more goals in every match against Premier League opposition under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Although Chelsea are the division's top scorers with 10 goals this season, they have also conceded nine, more than all but two other Premier League sides.

The Bees created a great chance following a flowing move in the second minute with Enrique Roca releasing Madden down the left. His cross found the opposite winger, Dwayne Mason, at the back post but he missed the target under pressure and on the stretch.
Kasujja then did well to fashion himself a sight at goal after a clever touch in the box allowed him to get a deflected strike off that Adam Brogan held on to at the second attempt.
Gary McDermott's side were much the brighter of the two in the opening ten, this time Jai Bansoodeb feinted past two Cherries defenders before forcing Brogan to save with his feet from a driven effort.
Tom Stuckey had Bournemouth's first sight at goal as they grew into the game, nodding wide from a floated free-kick when he could have headed back across goal to those waiting in red and black.
Then, on 17 minutes, the home side took the lead with skipper Waite striking across Felix Lyon into the bottom right corner.

In the Warriors' 17-7 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference victory over the Clear Fork Colts in a battle of unbeatens, the Warriors were stuck with a decision to make. Leading 14-7 and looking at a long third-down play, coach Aaron Eckert was contemplating what to do. Then, Brown piped up.
"Cardae is a tremendous athlete who will have opportunities to play beyond high school," Eckert said. "He came to me and said to put him on a post and lets go win this game and as a coach, you have to listen to your players. He made a catch over two guys and made the game-winning play."

The Orioles still have a remote possibility of doing something fun, a decent possibility of doing something moderately interesting, and also a decent possibility of the wheels just coming off the wagon, like you tried to ford that shallow river in Oregon Trail and all that happened is you got stuck in the muddy water so you lost who knows how many days of travel while you tried to fix things, and winter is coming and you're running out of food, and the next person who plays the game is going to find your tombstone.
Sorry, where was I? There are 15 games left in the 2026 Orioles season. They probably need to go 12-3 over those 15 games. Maybe, if they're lucky, they can get away with 11-4. Which is to say that they have fewer than one hand's fingers worth of games that they can lose for the remainder of the season. Six of those games will be played against the Blue Jays, starting with this three-game series that begins tonight.
That's part of what gives the Orioles some slim hope, because that gives them the opportunity to pull back games directly against one of the three teams that they need to pass to get into the last AL wild card spot. If they are able to go 4-2 against Toronto, they take back the two games deficit to the Jays and they get the head-to-head tiebreaker. That might not be good enough; there's still the Guardians and Rangers to consider. Maybe they need 5-1, in which case, if they lose tonight, they're really screwed and needing to run the table here.
It's improbable! It's not impossible. All they have to do is play as good as they have played for short amounts of this season, and then do that for two and a half weeks instead of doing it for three games before taking a trip back to Stinkville.

Normally the WWE's ring announcer, Garcia had been tasked with a nominal-turned-monumental duty — singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" — two days after the most significant terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
More than 1,600 miles away, in the shadows of the ever-altered New York City skyline, 10-year-old Thea Trinidad watched — as she always did — after experiencing an upheaval most do at some point in their life, but few as suddenly as her.
"That one's specifically always stuck out to me," Trinidad, a former WWE champion who performed under the alias Zelina Vega, tells Uncrowned. "I remember that one specifically, I saw all of the wrestlers get really emotional and seeing Lillian, still I always tell her: 'Yours is still my favorite to hear.'
"It just felt like, in that moment, the thing that I loved most was kind of shining a light on my dad. In a way, it kind of felt like it was just for 9/11, and it felt like it was just for those people. And I think in a weird way, it was important for us to feel that, because everyone else just felt like you were a thing, like a spectacle. You were someone to look at. You almost felt like you were the circus animal, and you were like, 'Oh, look, they dealt with that,' or, 'Oh, look, her dad died.' It appears the Minnesota Vikings lit a top 10 draft pick on fire by selecting J.J. McCarthy. Remarkably, it might not matter.
Like in 2024, head coach Kevin O'Connell has a high profile reclamation project ready to lead his offense. Sam Darnold got his team to 14 wins that fall. Now Kyler Murray gets the opportunity to do the same. He'll be flanked by the league's best wide receiving corps and a defense stuck on "shaken hornets nest" at all times.
Murray is playing on a one-year prove-it deal. He'll test himself against one of the toughest and deepest divisions in the NFL. Let's take a look at how Minnesota got here and what its 2026 might look like.
There's still time for JJ McCarthy to embody the potential the Vikings saw in him when they made him the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. But, uh, hoooo buddy, it doesn't look good. His 66.5 percent on-target throw rate ranked 33rd of 33 qualified quarterbacks, nearly three full points below No. 32 Caleb Williams. Since Pro Football Reference began charting that stat in 2019, only one player has been worse: Anthony Richardson in 2019. Ooooof.
That leaves Murray with a path to redemption after his Arizona Cardinals career flamed out. He's been a nest made of vacated promise after his Pro Bowl 2021 season. His 0.097 EPA per dropback since then ranks 20th out of 33 quarterbacks to play at least 1,000 snaps, just behind a diminished Kirk Cousins. But this is his age 29 season. But he was a useful dual-threat presence as recently as 2024 (where, admittedly, Arizona went 8-9) and now gets the most talented supporting cast of his career.

During a segment on the September 3 episode, Mad Money host Jim Cramer shared a detailed bullish thesis on Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). He stated:
Let's start with Amazon. Ever since we went out to see Amazon earlier this year, I've been stuck on something that CEO Andy Jassy told me. He said they're going to make an immense amount of money in artificial intelligence. They were going to profit from their gigantic commitment to data centers and next year will be huge for the compute sales. Well, I think it's being pulled forward. I think it may already be huge right now. I also remember Andy talking about the $50 billion semiconductor business that's buried in the company. I like the healthcare initiatives... Amazon Web Services is doing incredibly well. Their grocery delivery business, wow...
Alright, what can I say? All this for a stock that's up just 12% for the year; that's wrong. Amazon's balance sheet isn't as good as it was a year ago; enough already. What if Amazon Web Services is able to make four times what it just paid for 2 million GPUs from NVIDIA? That ratio, by the way, is what NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told me companies can expect to get when they buy NVIDIA chips. That makes me think that Amazon is cheap. We've all kind of forgotten that there's a reason why a smart executive like Andy Jassy is willing to wreck Amazon's balance sheet like the old days. It's because they're going to make fortunes with the money they spend. And we are getting closer and closer to seeing huge profits for investments that the Street has hated. You can't wait until next year to buy the stock of Amazon. And that's why it is a screaming buy with the stock trading at about 20 times this year's earnings. That's wrong.
Amazon Web Services remains the primary profit engine for the company. In the second quarter, AWS revenue surged 37% year over year to reach $42.2 billion, putting its annual run rate at roughly $169 billion. Operating income for the cloud unit jumped to $16.6 billion. Companies shifting their operations to handle AI and heavy workloads are turning those massive data center investments into high-margin profits. Aside from basic cloud hosting, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is leaning into its own custom chips, like Trainium and Graviton, and growing adoption of the Bedrock platform to keep its revenue streams strong and diversified.
Not everyone on Wall Street shares Cramer's enthusiasm, as it could be pointed out that Amazon.com, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AMZN) balance sheet is noticeably weaker than it was a year ago as its long-term debt increased from nearly $66 billion at the end of 2025 to nearly $129 billion by mid-2026. NEW YORK — As the freshly-promoted Anthony Volpe settled into a new locker inside the Yankees' clubhouse on Thursday, he said that he felt as if he had been in a "bubble" at Triple-A.
Not because he was stuck in the minors, but because he was focused on trying to improve his game. Volpe said he was so locked in that he didn't even realize Jazz Chisholm Jr. sprained his thumb on Tuesday until RailRiders manager Shelley Duncan told him.
"I wanted to get a lot out of it," Volpe, recalled on Thursday after Chisholm was placed on the 10-day injured list, said of Triple-A. "You have a game every night to try out different stuff and feel what works and feel like it's going to translate in case an opportunity like this comes. So there was just a lot of trial and error."
On Thursday, however, Volpe only found results, going 3 for 4 with a grand slam that broke open the Yankees' series-sweeping, 10-3 win over the Rockies. The seventh-inning blast earned the New York native a curtain call from a crowd that has booed him plenty over the last few years.
Volpe, batting ninth, also had an RBI single and a stolen base on Thursday. He didn't make an error while starting at second base for the first time as a big leaguer, either.

The Los Angeles Rams, the heavy Super Bowl favorites entering the season, opened the year in the NFL's first-ever game in Melbourne, Australia, against the San Francisco 49ers. The majority of the attention the Rams have gotten this offseason has been centered on the defensive line, which was bolstered by the acquisition of the NFL's single-season sack record holder Myles Garrett and the return of Aaron Donald from retirement.
However, Los Angeles also has one of the most potent offenses in the league, with reigning league MVP Matthew Stafford passing to two of the best wide receivers in the league, Davante Adams and Puka Nacua. Unfortunately for Nacua, he's been caught up in some off-the-field trouble recently.
Ahead of kickoff on Thursday, Nacua sat down with Netflix's Elle Duncan and spoke candidly about his struggles wth alcohol.
"I think I learned that I'm very avoidant of conflict, which is very interesting due to the football nature of… I would like to say I play very physical, just avoidant of the things that I know were causing me stress," Nacua told Duncan.
"Just, I think some of the change in lifestyle that came up to me, becoming a public figure, the stress of performing at a high level," he responded after being asked what was causing him stress. "And then I recently became a father. My son is 10 months old. And navigating that co-parenting relationship with his mother, I would kind of isolate myself to feel like the weight of all the issues and things that I have was stuck on my shoulders, and not being willing to ask for help. I was never one to share my fears and my worries. I was always Finding different ways to escape, I guess, from that tension or that stress."

Adam Schefter believes the Vikings and J.J. McCarty are "stuck with each other" for now, but could "explore a divorce" ahead of the 2027-28 NFL season.
"I know people are probably surprised by this, but I don't think it was a big surprise at all in the football community. The Vikings have named Carson Wentz as their backup quarterback to Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy No. 3. I think from the moment that Kyler Murray won that job — there's a reason they signed Carson Wentz; they signed Carson Wentz as a veteran backup — and with J.J. McCarthy there, they've made the decision to use him as No. 3," Schefter said.
"J.J. McCarthy's already said he doesn't want to be traded, wants to be in Minnesota this year. It's probably best for both sides to spend the year together before they explore a divorce. It's not an ideal marriage this season in Minnesota, but they're sort of stuck with each other for the time being."
A couple things to point out before we get to the divorce idea:
Schefter is the same guy who thought McCarthy had a "multi-week" ankle injury, only for Vikings GM Nolan Teasley to smash that rumor days later. That begs the question: Who is supplying Schefter with his McCarthy information?

Jeff Klingelhofer, CFA, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager & Senior Research **** yst, Securitized **** ets at Aristotle Pacific didn't set out to be a bond guy but a launchpad at PIMCO, stops in Tokyo and London, and a Chicago MBA detour into a scrappy five-person hedge fund rewired how he thinks about fixed income. The internship stuck, with Klingelhofer building out Thornburg's taxable fixed income desk from employee #3 to Head of Investments, before joining Aristotle Pacific in 2024. The firm is a 15-year-old franchise (formerly Pacific **** et Management) now running roughly $16 billion and, as of July 30, three brand-new ETFs: the Aristotle Core Plus Income ETF (ARCP), the Aristotle Multi-Sector Income ETF (ARMS), and the Aristotle Short Term Income ETF (SDUR).
The pitch isn't about taking on more risk to boost returns but about capturing returns with minimal risk, and that means shopping across every fixed income silo instead of hunting inside one. Klingelhofer gives the example of February 2020, when American Airlines' corporate bond and its aircraft-backed EETC both priced at 3.75% with the same issuer, same tenor, same yield. A month later, COVID hit and the corporate bond cratered to 27 cents on the dollar while the EETC held at 65 cents. Same company, wildly different outcomes because Wall Street desks looked at each instrument in isolation instead of comparing across the capital stack. That's the whole Aristotle Pacific thesis, and it's why he sees the same mispricing setting up today in data center financing.
The three funds slot into that framework by risk level, with SDUR as a low-duration, active-credit alternative to cash, ARCP as a core-bond upgrade aiming to beat the Agg by 100-150bps, and ARMS as the full relative-value expression targeting 250bps over a cycle with real flexibility to shift credit quality. Macro-wise, Klingelhofer thinks the market is underestimating new Fed Chair Warsh, who, unlike his predecessor, inherits a purely high-inflation world with no disinflationary tailwind. It means the firm is positioning the funds slightly long duration as a hedge against credit risk elsewhere in the book. His closing advice to advisors was a cautionary and practical one, that they shouldn't expect Aristotle to work in every environment (no fund does), and to pair its bottom-up process with top-down managers like PIMCO so the two zig and zag differently throughout market cycles.

Too much of a good thing is not a good thing when it comes to tennis matches according to Bill Simmons.
We have seen a trend of sports trying to shorten their game times in recent years, catering to shorter attention spans and increasing content competition. Major League Baseball implemented a series of changes including a pitch clock and the results have been tremendous for the sport as viewership increases and games no longer seem like an interminable slog.
And now with US Open matches going deep into the night, Simmons is asking for tennis to do the same. He argues that matches taking four-and-a-half hours to complete are far too long to keep anyone entertained.
"I've watched tennis my whole life. I've played tennis, I love tennis. Tennis matches are too long," Simmons declared. "We've lost the narrative with this. These guys are too good. The rallies and the points, these matches are four-and-a-half hours routinely now. And I just think it's absurd, and I've talked about this forever. I don't think anything should be four-and-a-half hours. Literally anything, movies, sporting events, a dinner, anything. I don't want to do anything for four-and-a-half hours that's supposed to be entertainment."
Of course, Bill Simmons knows this is going to be a molten hot take for tennis purists. However, he stuck to his guns, even suggesting that the sport shorten sets to get games completed in a reasonable time.

Three cheers, Yankees fans: Aaron Judge is at last coming off the injured list! The slugging superstar returns to the fold just in time for the stretch run, and not a moment too soon. The Bombers have been struggling to close the distance on the Rays in the AL East race with time running out, and the Red Sox remain hot on their trail in the Wild Card hunt. Now, which unfortunate team will be pulling into the Bronx just in time for the captain's return?
Why, the Colorado Rockies — owners of the National League's worst record at 55-88. Colorado has shown a bit more panache than their utterly moribund incarnation from last year, but they remain a franchise stuck deep in the cellar. They lost seven straight games, rallied to take a pair in Washington, then lost five more games consecutively before surprising the Orioles with a few plucky wins at home. They just came off a series loss in St. Louis which featured one of the more odious ump shows in recent memory.
All three games of this series will be televised on YES.

This is one of the more lopsided cards you'll see. Cam Schlittler comes into the series opener with a 2.04 ERA across 171.2 innings as he chases a Cy Young award in his first full MLB season. CNBC reported that Paramount Skydance Corporation (NASDAQ:PSKY) CEO David Ellison has cleared regulatory approval in 68 jurisdictions for his $110 billion bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBD), but a lawsuit from 12 state attorneys general remains the final obstacle.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who leads the states' case, canceled a planned settlement meeting with Ellison, noting a "lack of good faith." Paramount said it remains "hopeful" and denied being the source of leaks about the talks. Media veteran Tom Rogers said California's home constituency is "overwhelmingly against the transaction," reducing the state's incentive to settle. Paramount faces a ticking fee that could reach roughly $650 million per quarter starting September 30 and asked a court to force the states to post a $1.88 billion bond.
The deal already holds broad global regulatory approval, which strengthens Paramount Skydance Corporation (NASDAQ:PSKY)'s position in the remaining state dispute. With clearance from roughly 68 jurisdictions worldwide, the state antitrust lawsuits represent the main remaining obstacle rather than a broad regulatory challenge. This gives Paramount a strong basis to argue that the transaction has already withstood extensive regulatory scrutiny.
For Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (NASDAQ:WBD) shareholders, California Governor Gavin Newsom is sending a clear signal that he prefers a settlement over a prolonged court battle. If Paramount can satisfy California and the other states, WBD shareholders can finally receive the agreed payment instead of remaining stuck in legal limbo. That makes a negotiated resolution potentially attractive to shareholders who have faced prolonged uncertainty around the transaction.
Paramount has also shown flexibility rather than simply defending the deal's original terms. The company has acknowledged that it is considering structural changes to settle the lawsuits. It shows management is willing to make concessions to get the transaction completed. That flexibility could improve the chances of reaching a settlement without requiring the companies to wait for a lengthy court process.

The actress took the stage at the amfAR Gala Venezia 2026 on Sunday, Sept. 6 and gave a powerful speech reflecting on contracting hepatitis C in 2002. The amfAR event, held at Hilton Molino Stucky in Venice, Italy during the Venice Film Festival, honored Anderson, 59, with the non-profit's Award of Courage.

European PE add-ons are stuck at decade highs for the obvious reason—sponsors playing it safe—but increasingly also because a consolidated platform is what enhances the chance to exit.
According to PitchBook's Q2 2026 European PE Breakdown, there were 2,121 add-on deals in H1 2026, reaching a decade high of 57.7% of the total European PE deal count. It's the third straight quarter the strategy has held near record levels.
Richard Damming, head of PE investments Europe at Schroders Capital, spoke with PitchBook News about why a consolidated platform may help secure an exit in the subdued market and how to create value in times of low financial leverage.

The box score does betray the tension that underlined the majority of this one. The theme continued with verve for what I'd call the majority of the game — though ultimately, and fortunately, not the entirety of it. Sam Antonacci led off the first and fifth innings with a double, sandwiching back-to-back free bases from the non-brothers Montgomery to open the second frame and preceding Tristan Peters' own leadoff double an inning later. They even queued up a rally in the third inning, when Miguel Vargas and Andrew Benintendi reached base before Colson Montgomery's second punchout of the game ended the threat. Colson finished with a golden sombrero, bringing him to 197 on the season. When he presumably reaches the ignominious 200-K milestone, he'll make the White Sox the only team to have three separate players break the 200 strikeout threshold in a season. Yoán Moncada did it most recently, and I don't think I need to type the name of the one who did it first.
If you've been following the team as of late, it won't be surprising that almost none of those White Sox rallies resulted in any runs, as Twins starter Bailey Ober labored through 4 1/3 innings with highly-diminished stuff. Still, when the Minnesota pen got the call, only one Sox run had been stuck on the board, as Antonacci did make his way around in the fifth, after Murakami shot a single through the right side:

If Washington is going to succeed, Demond Williams needs to have a high usage rate as both a passer and runner. He is at his best when he's on the move, and the Huskies are as well. That's my primary takeaway from Washington's frustrating, but earned, season-opening Apple Cup victory.
On the one hand, Washington's performance for most of the afternoon was frustrating because it looked as lethargic as it had at times in the previous two seasons. On the other hand, if you watched other Week 1 games, there were a handful of victorious teams that looked stuck in the mud. None of which battled their in-state rival.
There's a reason Nick Saban referred to headlines as rat poison. Washington was highly regarded throughout the offseason. It kicked off the season with a shiny No. 17 next to its name and is led by a quarterback who many believe could be a Heisman Trophy finalist. Overall, the consensus is that Washington is the popular pick to be 2027's sleeper team. Those elements added to the discomfort of UW's slow start.
Though it eventually gave up a touchdown in the fourth quarter, Washington's defense was sensational. It shot itself in the foot by picking up unnecessary penalties, but overall it was dominant. Defensive backs Jeron Jones and Alex McLaughlin both logged interceptions while Isaiah Ward forced a fumble, then recovered it. Washington would've had four takeaways, but Rylon Dillard-Allen picked up a questionable targeting penalty after thumping Wazzu quarterback Caden Pinnick.
Speaking of penalties, UW must be better in that area, without question. Washington racked up 130 penalty yards to Wazzu's 50. Washington had 12 fewer penalty yards than Pinnick had passing.

No matter what may you look at it, this was a tough one. After the San Diego Padres walked off the New York Yankees on Friday night, they took a gut punch in Game 2, losing 5-1. Much of that was thanks to starter Robbie Ray failing to get out of the third inning.
After setting down the first three batters, Ben Rice singled to lead off the second inning. Ray got the next two batters out before giving up a double, three consecutive walks and a two-run single. Ray's command completely eluded him, after he had looked strong to start the night. That, along with a quiet offense, marked the death of the Padres on Saturday night. They'll now face New York in the rubber match this afternoon, trying to win their first series in two weeks.
Cole spent the beginning of 2026 stuck on the injured list. The veteran's first start of the year came on May 22 after receiving from Tommy John surgery. He's been solid in that time, pitching to a 3.29 ERA through 104 innings. The strikeout numbers are modest, with 110 K's in that same time.
But, in his last seven starts. Cole has turned up his game. He's pitched to a 2.36 ERA across 42 innings. That being said, the last two games have been his worst in that time. Cole has surrendered six runs over his last 11 1/3 innings, giving up three runs in each of his two recent starts. San Diego will try to take advantage of that to win the series finale.
King has been fantastic this year, with a 3.11 ERA to back up that claim. Through 162 innings, King has proved that 2024 was not a fluke, posting incredibly consistent numbers through most of the season. King has been especially fantastic lately, with a 2.86 ERA across his last 15 starts.

The Cleveland Browns are coming into the 2026 NFL season likely to be one of the worst teams in the league. It would be a shocker if they made the playoffs, or even just had close to a .500 winning percentage.
This team just, simply put, isn't good enough right now. Looking into the future, there are plenty of question marks surrounding this team as well. So, for the loyal Browns fans who've stuck through thick and thin, how optimistic should they be?
According to Adam Coleman of The Athletic, a poll conducted among fans of all NFL teams, the Browns fanbase was overwhelmingly the least optimistic in the league. Unfortunately, they have good reason to have such little optimism.
Coleman shared that Browns fans handed out a brutal 2.7 percent optimism score, by far the lowest in the NFL. In 31st place, second-worst in the league, was the Miami Dolphins' fanbase, which at least had 11.1 percent optimism.

President Donald Trump wants to be heavily involved in Republicans' midterm push. They're not all thrilled.
As Trump begins to unveilhis midterm campaign plans, many Republicans facing tough elections — even in areas the president carried by double digits in 2024 — are wary of tying themselves too closely to Trump as his approval rating continues to drag.
Many privately admit they're stuck in an uncomfortable spot: By running too far from Trump, Republicans risk alienating the MAGA faithful or the president himself, whose super PAC is sitting on more than $400 million they desperately need deployed to help them win key races. But if the candidates keep Trump close, they could be dragged down by the president, as the unpopular war in Iran has increased costs for Americans across the country.
So far, they haven't settled on a unified approach, according to interviews with more than two dozen GOP lawmakers, candidates and operatives. Mostly, they don't want to talk about it.
When asked in an interview if he wants Trump to campaign in his swing district this fall or spend time elsewhere, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) gave an indirect answer.
