A federal judge granted a class-wide preliminary injunction Friday requiring the NCAA to make eligible athletes who graduated high school in 2022 and exhausted their four years of eligibility this spring.
Issued by Judge Charlotte Sweeney in the U.S. District Court of Colorado, the order follows multiple NCAA losses in state courts after athletes challenged the application of an age-based eligibility policy the organization adopted in June.
Colloquially known as the "five-for-five" rule, the change allows athletes five years to play five seasons starting with their full-time enrollment or the season after their 19th birthday, whichever comes first. Earlier in July, Hutson was granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA, allowing him to rejoin the Longhorns as he worked through his ongoing age-based eligibility lawsuit. He has been working out alongside his former teammates with the team but has not yet returned to the Texas roster while waiting for his scheduled court hearing Aug. 10 concerning Hutson's lawsuit filed earlier in July in Travis County.
That hearing is now, theoretically, unnecessary because of the ruling from Sweeney in her Colorado court.

Farley has been among the most vocal about how competitive Chinese auto giants like BYD are in the industry. Ford is preparing to roll out a family of affordable electric vehicles that it engineered from the ground up to match the cost and efficiency of the Chinese companies.
The Ford chief, along with other senior leaders, said in a question-and-answer portion of the town hall that it is more likely Chinese companies would enter the market at the latter end of that range. The comments come as the U.S. Senate is pushing to expand a ban on Chinese car sales in the world's second-largest and most lucrative auto market.

The numbers remain solid even after the decline. Post-drop, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is trading near a forward P/E of 60 – approximately two times the industry median of 30x. In it, she called out straight white men in a way that is rankling conservatives and MAGA-minded people eight years later now that she stars in one of the biggest movies of the year, Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey."

The disrespect for the reigning Super Bowl LX champions Seattle Seahawks continues to grow. At this point, the growth is a daily feature. I'm talking specifically about the disrespect leveled at the Seahawks by the popular Madden video game franchise.
In the latest edition of the game, Madden 27, the team at EA Sports have been releasing their top 10 rankings for various positions, units and even teams. Seattle's elite defense was mightily disrespected earlier in the week, as Madden 27 had them as only the 10th best unit in the game. Out of the position rankings (defensive tackle, edge, linebacker, cornerback and safety) only one Seahawk - Devon Witherspoon - cracked the top 10 in any of those lists. Players like Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Ernest Jones IV, Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori were nowhere to be seen.
Now, the disrespect continues to an equally insulting degree. On Friday, Madden 27 released their top 10 rankings for teams overall. Yes, Seattle did make the cut... but only barely. According to Madden 27, the Seahawks are only the 10th best team in the game. As for those ahead of them, well, just take a look for yourselves.
The Seahawks obliterated the 49ers in the Divisional Round, outlasted the Rams in the NFCCG (one missed field goal from going 3-0 against them last year) and humiliated the Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

As for the Ravens, they were 8-9 and missed the playoffs like the Lions did as well. I know Baltimore had injuries they dealt with, but they always have injuries! CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox have not been shy about their efforts to add starting pitching in the lead-up to the trade deadline at 6 p.m. ET Monday. The Sox are casting a wide net in their search for playoff-caliber rotation reinforcements, with the hope of getting back to the postseason for the first time since 2021.
The White Sox have been scouring the market in recent days, and sources tell Yahoo Sports that Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber and Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers are two names on Chicago's radar. Bieber is a familiar face to the White Sox, as he faced them for seven seasons while a member of the Cleveland Guardians. Jersey's Evan Campbell has finished 12th in the 2026 Commonwealth Games decathlon after being disqualified from the 110m hurdles.
The 25-year-old clipped the first barrier and fell before rolling under the second hurdle in the opening event of day two.
He then ducked under a third barrier after getting back to his feet and was disqualified for not going over each hurdle.
Campbell finished in a time of more than 24 seconds, but was given a score of 0 points for the event, but was allowed to carry on competing in the day's final four disciplines.
Campbell has been the first-ever Jersey man to compete in a Commonwealth Games decathlon and had been 10th out of the 12 competitors at the end of the opening day.

The last place Cincinnati Reds are limping towards the August 3rd trade deadline at just 51-57, still buried in the busy National League Wild Card standings 5.5 games back of the final spot. That comes with the caveat that there are six NL clubs they'd have to jump to earn their way into that spot – the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals, and St. Louis Cardinals.

The 36-time Isle of Man TT winner was best in the Open category on his MD Racing BMW with a speed of 106.236mph, one minute 59.722 seconds.
Ryan Whitehall was second on 104.275mph, with Joe Loughlin third at 101.619, followed by Barry Furber, Neil Kernohan and Kevin Keyes.
Dunlop was fastest of the Supersports on his Ducati with 99.583mph, with Kernohan next with 96.522 and Keyes at 95.452.
Dunlop's speed of 100.296mph proved enough to top the Supertwins, ahead of Furber (98.315), Kernohan (97.399) and Brolly (96.534).

Tennessee State football practice is under way with a battle for the starting quarterback position between returning starter Byron McNair and two transfers − Daylin Lee from Winston-Salem State and Marcelis Tate from South Florida.
Second-year coach Reggie Barlow said no one is ahead of the others as the Tigers prepare for their season opener on Aug. 29 against Jackson State in the John Merritt Classic at Vanderbilt.
All three quarterbacks worked with the first unit at practice on July 31. Barlow said he hasn't ruled out giving freshman Justin Patton from McCalla, Alabama, a shot at the job if none of the older players take the reins.
"Daylin's experience speaks for itself; he had a real good command (at Winston-Salem State)," Barlow said. "Tate, for a young guy, he looks like an older guy, but he's only played one year. He's a good player. And, of course, we've got Byron, and then there's Justin (Patton), a freshman who's a good football player. He was here in the spring as an early enrollee."
It is a similar situation to what Barlow faced at TSU last year when three quarterbacks were locked in a battle for the starting ******* ignment among Jonathan Palmer, Caleb McCreary and McNair. Palmer earned the starting position at the start of the season before McNair unseated him in the third game. Palmer returned as the starter later in the season.

Yet when Daniel Rodriguez says he notices he's been working harder than usual, almost as an outside observer to himself with a new lease on reason, you tend to listen. That's because until April, Rodriguez was in a Tijuana jail cell, where he'd spent the last eight months on a marijuana possession rap, far longer than a borderline bogus charge should warrant. He was able to hit some pads and do some "roadwork" in the yard, and even had a heavy bag at his disposal, but there was nary a nutritionist on site, nor were his coaches there to guide him, or a sauna, a ring, or really any of the creature comforts of a training facility.
Since April he's been working like a madman splitting time in Las Vegas and Los Angeles to catch his body up to the task of fighting Uros Medic this Saturday at UFC Belgrade in Serbia, yet it's doubtful Rodriguez is in the best physical shape of his life at 39.
But so what? He has never felt freer than he is right now in Belgrade, walking straight into the wheelhouse of the country's free-swinging ****** assin.
"You know what?" Rodriguez says, "I think I've handled it pretty well, man. I've handled this like a true professional. From the condition that I was in when I was released to where I'm at now and all the preparation and the whole fight camp and everything in between from then till now, the ups and downs, it's been a roller-coaster.

Detroit — The highest-ranked player at the Rocket Classic went low on Friday.
Cameron Young, No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking, came out blazing in the second round and shot a 9-under 61 to tie the course record and vault to the top of the leaderboard halfway through the final playing of the PGA Tour tournament at Detroit Golf Club.
Young opened with a first-nine 28, or 7 under, on the strength of six birdies in a row at one point. He even birdied the long, tough, par-4 17th, which yielded only five birdies in Round 1. Already a member of the exclusive 59 Club, he had thoughts of a double dip there until he grinded his way through the second nine, before rolling in a 20-footer for one more birdie at the par-4 eighth hole.
Young missed a 17-footer for birdie on his last hole, but it still was a clean, bogey-free card and Young, 29, who already has won twice this season including at The Players Championship, was at 10 under at the halfway point of the tournament. He was one shot ahead of first-round leader Peter Malnati.

We're still more than a month away from Week 1 of the NFL season, but the trash talk is nearing midseason form.
Coming off a stellar 13-win season, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen feels that his squad has been overlooked. According to the second-year head coach, that is one of the great benefits of coaching his team.
Speaking with 1010 XL in Florida, Coen said all the motivation his team needs comes from the shortage of attention given to them.
"This is the best part about coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars – you don't have to make up telling your players stuff," Coen said. "You don't have to make up the fire, you don't have to make it up. It's given to us everyday. ...
"I just go, pull out my phone, look at the NFL Network website, and just pop up here, and I'm just curious if I see any photos or anything about the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think I'll just scroll right on through, I think I'll see 40 pictures of Caleb Williams, and I won't see a single thing about any of our players on here."

The month of July is in it's final day, and the start of the Kentucky football season is just 36 days away. As we count down the days until game one against Youngstown State, we're also getting to know the players on the roster. Today, we're taking a look at No. 36, Andrew Weber.
Weber is a 6'0", 175 lb defensive back out of Cincinnati, Ohio. On the football field, he starred for St. Xavier at safety, receiver, and as a punt returner. He also baseball and basketball where he excelled as well. He wasn't heavily recruited, but he did have offers from South Carolina and Army. He chose to head to Lexington, though.
As a freshman, Weber proved to be a star in the classroom as well as a terrific athlete. He made the Dean's list and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. He was on the Dean's list once again last season while continuing to practice and staying ready with the football team.
Heading into the 2026 season, Weber will be a junior after sticking around through the coaching change. He will be a depth piece in the secondary who may not see a lot of playing time, but will practice with the team and provide value in other ways.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are full steam ahead as training camp continues to roll on, with several player performances offering excitement — and concern — through two days of practice.
From two players putting together back-to-back standout performances to a second-year quarterback ending practice on a low point, here are the biggest winners and losers from Day 2 of training camp.
Wilson was already garnering buzz as one of Aaron Rodgers' top targets on Day 1, and the young receiver looked even more impressive on Day 2. The Rodgers-to-Wilson connection looks incredible through two days of practice, and it's definitely one to keep an eye on over the next month.
It was another standout day for Samuel, who made some great plays in his first practice in Latrobe. Samuel made a beautiful pass defense on a deep ball intended for Pat Freiermuth and is steadily emerging as one of Pittsburgh's top cornerbacks.
Chris Boswell looked in midseason form, and Cameron Johnston was punting bombs on the second day of practice. The veterans of the group delivered two standout special teams performances. Oh, and as an added bonus, Travis Homer was playing a big role on special teams that was last held by former All-Pro Steeler Miles Killebrew. Homer's special teams versatility could land him a spot on the 53-man roster.

The WNBA is back with a new collective bargaining agreement and million dollar players.
The Las Vegas Aces will be looking to run it back as defending champs with the reigning MVP, A'ja Wilson, leading the way. Lots of other contenders hope to have something to say about that including the Atlanta Dream, New York Liberty and Indiana Fever. The Fever, who were without floor leader Caitlin Clark for much of last season, are fully healthy. The Liberty, who were also bitten by the injury bug last season, already have Sabrina Ionesco on the sidelines after she rolled her ankle in a preseason game against the Connecticut Sun.
The Atlanta Dream also made the trade of the offseason, getting Angel Reese from the Chicago Sky to add to a roster which won 30 games last season.
